Windows Media Player & Video Streaming

Hi, there!
Is it possible to send Video Streaming (using JMF) to
Windows Media Player? If so, how could I do that???
Thank You very much!!
Cesar

Hi Jupiter,
Yes, JMF supports streaming media using the public standard RTP and RTSP protocols.
JMF supports both transmission and reception of media over RTP for a variety of media formats. For a list of the default formats supported, check:
http://java.sun.com/products/java-media/jmf/2.1.1/support-rtp.html
It also fully supports RTCP. Besides, JMF implements the "RTP Profile for Audio and Video Conferences with Minamal Control", RTP/AVP.
The front end GUI application, JMStudio can be used as a standalone application to transmit and receive RTP streams. To implement custom RTP applications using JMF as a framework, check out the RTP samples
on the solutions page: http://java.sun.com/products/java-media/jmf/2.1.1/solutions/index.html
OR you can refer this URL.
http://java.sun.com/products/java-media/jmf/2.1.1/faq-jmf.html#jmf2-rtp-features
I hope this will help you.
Thanks

  • Windows Media player - live stream

I have Mac 10.4.5 and am having trouble viewing live feed with Windows Media Player. WMP seems to work with saved video streams but not live. Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

I'm wondering if you received a reply. Neither the Windows Media Player in Internet Explorer nor Safari will give me a live feed for more than 30 seconds to 1 minute and will then freeze. "Refreshing" the page doesn't provide a "live" response.

  • How do I insert  a windows media player video on my webpage?

    Hi
I want to insert a video in windows media player on my webpage. (actually I want to insert 3 on the 1 page, but to start with, I'll be happy with 1!)
Dreamweaver says that it doesnt recognise the file type, and the dreamweaver help is pretty bad on this topic.
    Any help gratefully received
    Many thanks

Flash Video is the gold standard used on YouTube, FaceBook, MySpace and other video sharing sites now.  DW makes it easy to insert Flash Video but tougher for other file types.
In Code View, paste this into your page and change both instances of videofilename.wmv to your own.

  • Windows media player video settings will not respond !

    Hi to everyone !
The video colour quality on w/media player lacks clarity .I have tried to adjust this from the video settings within
the program facility. The slider adjusters always return to zero after I have attempted the adjustment.
Alternately,I have tried to find how to reinstall the program from the recovery disc but have not been able to identify
the program from within the recovery disc.

    Thanks for your response.
Contrary to what you indicate,M/s was my first port of call
and as a result they suggested I direct my query to manufacturers web page,ie:Toshiba !
Regardless of the location that my query arrived at,I thought it reasonable
to presume that W/media player was a widly used program and thus another
user might have had a similar problem/experience.

  • Why can't I open Windows Media Player videos?

I opened the Tonight Show with Jay Leno web site:
    http://www.nbc.com/nbc/TheTonight_Show_with_Jay_Leno/fruitcakelady/
When I clicked on the link to view videos of The Fruit Cake Lady, I got this message:
The page “NBC.com > Screening Room” has content of MIME type “application/x-oleobject”. Because you don’t have a plug-in installed for this MIME type, this content can’t be displayed.
I’ve tried in vain to find this plug-in. Can anyone tell me where I might get it or how I might get around it?
    I’m using an eMac Power PC G4, 125 GHz, 768 MB RAM, Safari 2.0.3, QuickTime 7.1, Flip4Mac 2.0.2.10

Google to the rescue! http://www.google.com/mac?q=nbc+videos led me to http://blog.nocertainthing.co.uk/2006/04/04/hacking-nbcs-videos-cont/ which has complete step-by-step instructions to extract the correct address to play the videos.
NBC could have designed their web site to do this in a browser-neutral manner. But apparently they hate anyone who doesn't use IE on Windows.

You originally posted on a thread that really wasn't related to your problem, so I branched the discussion.
Check the Windows System Event Viewer to see the details of the crash, most importantly the name of the faulting module.
Most crashes on Open or Save are due to OS bugs (especially on MacOS) or bugs in third party extensions to the OS open and save dialogs.

  • I definitely have put this under the wrong catergory but i don't care, I was wondering why everytime i click on a video to play it says: Windows media player has stopped working

Ok, so I made a video with Bandicam, and every time I click on it to play it (it is saved as an MP4), it just says: Windows Media Player has stopped working. Then it gives me two choices: Close the program OR look online for a solution. I REALLY want to
post these videos, but I can't. If anyone could help that would be great!

    Hi juderocks14,
Please first take a check with the other Players and see if they could play the MP4 file normally. If it can't be played, which means it might be corrupted. You may ask at the Bandicam side, or save the files again.
If issue insists, take a try with the Troubleshooter (For Windows 7, 8 and 8.1):
Open the Windows Media Player Settings troubleshooter
Fix Windows Media Player video, and other media or library issues
Or you may try to turn Windows Features on or off to reset Windows  Media Player:
Turn Windows features on or off (Before turn it on again, please remember to reboot first)

  • How do I force Safari to use Windows Media Player as my default WMV player.

I am subscribed to a educational program called "the Epson Online Experience", and the entire program is in Windows Media Player videos. I was using Safari and Mac OS 10.3.9 with no problem what so ever, until Quick Time updated itself. Now I can't get WMP to play at all in Safari, or in Camino or IE either. The browsers just keep trying to play the link in Quick Time.
I did download Flip4Mac, but with no luck. The links now appear to open, appear to be downloading the buffer, but will stay on that screen for hours if I allow it.
Does anyone know how to make Windows Media Player the default media player in Safari? or for that matter, in Camino (or if I MUST, I guess I would be willing to try it in IE too if I could make it work.
    Thanks for the help!

Welcome to Apple Discussions. Your post seems to have been lost in a sea of Safari problems.
Usually items triggering media players create a file, which is downloaded into your system. Check your download folder for the file. If you can't find it, access the same file again via Safari.
Once you locate the file on your HD, click on it. Then, command key + I will bring up the info panel for the file (or simply select "more info" in the preview panel if you're in the finder's column mode). Go to the bottom where you'll see "open with". There, you see "quicktime" listed as the app. for opening the file. Click on the drop down menu and find the Windows player and select it.
Back to the info. panel - select "change all". This will revert all files of this type on your HD, plus future files to the Windows Media Player. Double click on the file to activate the video. Future selections in Safari will automatically open the correct media player. One other note, for the player to open automatically, you must check "open safe files after downloading" in your Safari Preferences>General panel.
    Post back with results.

  • Issue with Star Ratings in Windows Media Player 12 on Win7

The particular issue I'm having is this. I can star rate my music a 1, 2, 3, or 4. However if I try to rate anyone particular song a 5 star Rating, it shows it as a 0 star rating. This is happening on my desktop system as well as my laptop.  I never
had this problem before. And I'm not really sure when this problem started. Also, it shows 5 star rated songs a 0 star rating in explorer as well. Any help to figure out this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for all who reply.

    Hi Cougar Mutimedia ,
Will the issue occur with specific file type , specific file or all the file ?Have you tried to re-join the music to have a check ?
We can try the built-in troubleshoot tool to have a check :
Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Troubleshooting\All Categories\Windows Media Player Library ,Windows Media Player Settings
Or try the following tool :
Fix Windows Media Player video, and other media or library issues
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/mats/windows_media_player_diagnostic?wa=wsignin1.0
If the issue persists,we may need to reinstall the Windows Media Player to have check .
Click “Start” button, type “windows features” in the program search box and hit enter.
    1. In the “Windows Features” dialog box, look for “Media Features” and expand it.
    2. Clear “Windows Media Player” check box.
    3. As soon as you clear the check box, you will see a pop-up saying that “The following Windows features will also be turned off because they are dependent on Windows Media Player.” The listed program is “Windows Media Center”.
    4. Go ahead and click “Yes”. Windows will now begin uninstalling WMP12.
    5. You to restart Windows for the uninstallation to complete.
    6. Click “Start” button, type “windows features” in the program search box and hit enter.
    7. In the “Windows Features” dialog box, look for “Media Features” and expand it.
    8. Check boxes “Windows Media Player” and “Windows Media Center”.
    9. Click “OK”. Windows will take some time in reinstalling them. Wait for the process to finish.
    10. You to restart Windows for the installation to complete.
    Best regards

  • Windows Media Player plugin & Safari - Quicktime opens up???

Everytime I'm on a website and I click on a video clip that is a windows media player video file (wmv), the file opens up with the quicktime plug in - and the whole wmv won't play. I have to download the clip to see the whole thing in my Windows Media Player.
How do I set up Safari so it will play wmv clips with a windows media player plug in so I don't have to download a bunch of video clips that I just wanted to see on a website.

This is what you need flip4mac. Just go to the link and download it.

  • Windows media player is corrupt

I was advised to uncheck wmp in windows features so I did and it is disabled. There actually was two wmp programs on my computer. It was stolen / borrowed for awhile so I think somebody installed another version of it to control my computer cuz I had no
permissions to it by the trusted installer so the uncheck in win features shut it down. But on another note Flash Player makes me install it everytime I want to use Utube or Spotify but Flash Player has done that before. I gave up on spotify (is that a problem
web based player?) I hope not cuz I have tons of music in my profile. So problems list
Flash Player update services is set to automatic but always stopped...I use services to configure how it starts and it will say "Adobe Flash Player Update Service on local computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are
not in use by other services or programs"      What does that mean? How can I get it to stay started on any program?  Right away when I ask to START SERVICE by right click in properties or left pane Start Service it goes
to that quote. So what do you or anybody think this media problem comes from? Also my physical memory is in high use and CPU is hardly in use, what does that mean?

  • Video Streaming in Windows media player won't play through Airport Extreme

Hello and thank you for reading my issue.
I have the current square shaped airport extreme base station. My mother has a Windows XP system on her Toshiba laptop and she takes an online class which has video streaming for the lectures. When we connect to the network wirelessly or with an ethernet cable through the base station, the video will not begin to buffer and won't play from the website. It just states ready and doesn't buffer. However, if we connect the laptop straight to our cable modem without the base station, the videos stream and play perfectly. Anybody know how we can fix this to play through the wireless network? Thanks a lot.
MacBook Pro 2.33 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I've played with all sorts of software settings and configurations. This is what worked for me, but I'm not sure how it would work for anyone else, or if the issues are even related, but here goes.
1 - Turn multicast rate to 1 MBPS in the drop down menu found in Airport Utility>Airport icon>Wireless Options Button.
2 - Turn off multicast in Windows Media Player or Real Player
3 - Turn on Video Overlay Optimization check box in Real Player.
These things worked for me, hopefully they will help or give you some ideas for your own situtation.

You are going to need to have two versions of the video file. One for Mac Quicktime users and one for WIndows Media Player users.
WMV Studio Pro looks like it could meet your needs.
    http://www.flip4mac.com/wmv.htm
However you will need a Windows Media Server to stream the WMV file otherwise it will act as a download only.
