Windows on mac won't recognize external moniter?

anyone have any suggestions

Hi there,
I am experiencing the similar problem. The model of LCD is CMV 934D.
In Windows, before you can enable extended monitor feature, the driver must first detect there is a external LCD attached to it. In my situation, only notebook display is detected and no external monitor is detected by the driver.
Is this a known issue or is there compatibility issue with certain LCDs?
Any advise would be much appreciated.

  • Mac won't recognize external WD drive

I purchased a new external USB 2.0 2TB WD drive knowing that I would need to format it for my iMac. I get a message that says it is not recognized by this Mac. I try to use Disk Utility to format the disk, but nothing is high lighted to use. How do I format the disk?
Disk Description : WD Ext HDD 1021 Media Total Capacity : 2 TB (2,000,396,746,752 Bytes)
Connection Bus : USB Write Status : Read Only
Connection Type : External S.M.A.R.T. Status : Not Supported
USB Serial Number : 574341565933313338383735 Partition Map Scheme : Unformatted

Sorry...I got into the wrong forum at first.
I've already tried what you suggested. I have chosen the drive image and clicked on erase, but nothing is high lighted to use. My computer gave me an original error message when I plugged the drive in and said it was unsupported. I think the message stems from the fact that it is not properly formatted. However it won't let me format it.

  • Mac won't recognize external DVD-W

I'm on a MacBook Pro OSX version 10.4.11. I've been using this Mac for years, but I'm still such a beginner when it comes to Macs.
My internal DVD-RW stopped working forever ago. I recently purchased a Samsung External Slim DVD-W SE-S084C/RSRN so that I can update to Snow Leopard. The SE-S084C requires 2 USB ports, so I also purchased a Belkin USB hub.
When I plug everything in, nothing happens. I tried installing a driver through the Samsung support site, but no luck. I read somewhere that PatchBurn might help, but it didn't or I'm not using it correctly.
I'm wondering if I somehow need to tell my Mac to stop recognizing the internal drive so that it'll start recognizing the external drive? I don't know. My Dell-certified technician girlfriend said that might be the problem, but I'm not sure how I'd fix it if it was.
    Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Hello everybody.  Thought I'd throw a few suggestions your way.
First, DVDPlayer doesn't natively support external drives unless there is an internal still connected and functional.
If you hex-edit the file that it uses to identify the player, however, you can change the word Internal to External and viola, you can use any external that your system can read with.
Now... ...if you don't know which file... read this, http://macenstein.com/default/2011/07/how-to-get-your-external-super-drive-worki ng-in-lion/
The file locations are similar across OSX versions.
    Once you've done that...
Remember that mac wasn't designed to use lesser hardware.  That said, most of the entire market would qualify as lesser hardware by their standards.  However, you can get by with a few simple rules:
    1. for burning dvd or higher size, 3gb ram and at least 4.5gb hard disk are necessary
    2. Those drives that come with nero or similar are more compatible with the disc-burning architecture and will function with most mac apps that use it
    3. you'll need a fast enough processor, 1.83ghz or higher for DL dvd, or blu-ray.
    4. You'll need an app compatible with your media; toast, burn.app, etc.
If you experience issues try the following:
    1. Clean out caches with ice-clean or similar
    2. repair permissions
    3. Use your system profiler and check the connection for info; if blank, the connection, the burner or the media is unsupported, so work backward (try more compatible media like cd or another format like swapping -r for +r), but only swap connections or burners if you are sure (if usb connection, try another powered port, try not using a hub, try a different wire; if internal, cannot swap either in most cases, but if sata, try using a usb-sata device to connect).  When you've exhausted all the other possibilities, replace the burner.  The most common problems of this nature can occur as hardware failure, like burnt pcb, or motor failure.  By replacing the drive, if you still have a connection problem, you may have a deeper issue that requires more serious repair (repairing the computer).

  • My mac won't recognize an external monitor. The screen Goes Blue Once, then goes blue again and the second monitor just turns off. I am using an HDMI adapter to a visio TV. I also have my xbox on the tv. Can anyone Help??

Lol, figured out the first part. Just for those who may be searching, when you click on the Display Preferences, and click on the arraingment tab... it not only shows where your two screens will be displayed, but the WHITE BAR at the top of one screen is the dock/toolbar. Click and hold to grab this and just slide it over to the screen you'd like it to be on.
You have to release it IN the screen box, not on top of it... and it should pop right over to the new (or old) screen. At any rate, you can put the dock on either (or any) screen that you prefer.
I am thinking of ordering more of these. Lol. 3 monitor setup seems like it would be crazy good.
Still looking for the answer to keeping the new 16" screen on the right without switching between screen #s with that... not expose... Lion feature.
Thanks. Hope my other question has an answer out here.

i tried to get the installation disc for the camcorder but mac wont' recognize it becaue it is windows based i guess.
i just bought the camcorder a few months ago and when my computer crashed thought i'm finally getting a mac...it's been a costly venture which has resulted in more frustration than before my pc.
now the things i want to use with my mac that i thought would be even simpler...are not even useable...
    help

That camera shoots H.264 in an .avi wrapper.
You will have to transfer the files via the Finder.
Get a free copy of MPEG Streamclip and convert them to QuickTime .mov using the H.264 codec if you are presumably editing in iMovie.
Note that your list of video codecs won't look like mine as I have Final Cut Pro, but H.264 is definitely an option for you.

  • ? MacBook won't recognize external disc drive

My MacBook's internal disc drive quit, so I'm trying an external Samsung SE-208 slim portable DVD writer.   It worked once, but now the mac won't recognize it.  I tried a DVD switcher app - no luck.  The Samsung plugs into the USB port, starts up OK then disappears from itunes, the desktop, Finder - It's gone. Can I completely disable the internal disc drive?  Would that help?  I appreciate ANY help.   I'm not skilled at these things so you need to spoon feed me.  thanks

  • Mac won't recognize my password to let me download anything

I recently downgraded from Yosemite Beta to Mountain Lion and now my mac won't recognize my login credentials. Curious thing is it does recognize them to let me login at startup. But it won't let me download anything because it says my password is wrong. I changed the password and again it recognized it to let me login but not to download anything. What's going on?

Where are you trying to download from? Apple ID password?

Have an older 17 MacBook Pro, running OS 10.5.8. Software update says everyting is current. Mac doesn't have iCloud, preferences still shows MobileMe. Just bought new iPhone 5S. Mac won't recognize phone, says I need newer version of iTunes. Have no problem with computer recognizing old phone 3 or 1-1/2 year old iPad. I suspect I need to update OS, but as software update isn't telling me to do so, can I? What version would I need to go to?

Your MacBook Pro can be updated to run Mac OS X "Snow Leopard". Buy it. That will enable you to run the latest iTunes version.

  • IMac 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7, running Lion 10.7.3, won't recognize external speaker jack, any suggestions?

iMac 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7, running Lion 10.7.3, won't recognize external speaker jack, any suggestions?  Got a brand new iMac and purchased external speakers for same.  Hooked them into external speaker jack and the computer does not recognize the external speaker jack.  I then plugged them into the external head phone jack and the computer recognized the head phone jack.  How can I get the computer to recognize the speaker jack?

Thanks "a brody," my mistake, I was mistaking the "audio in" jack for a speaker output jack.  I have some Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 speakers with a built in amplifier that I am using and they sound beautiful.  I do have them plugged into the correct jack, but was thinking there was a speaker out put and headphone out put.
Thanks again for correcting me, I feel much better now that I know my brand new iMac isn't defective, lol.

  • After transferring music to new Mac, Mac won't recognize iPod

I just recently transferred my music from a PC to a new Powerbook G4 using my iPod in disk mode. I erased everything on my iPod, then loaded it with music in disc mode to put on my new computer. But now, I need to erase the stuff on there in disc mode so I can put it back in the normal mode.
Just when I thought I was figuring it out, my Mac won't recognize my iPod. Do I need to reformat it for a Mac since I was using it with a PC? Be gentle, I'm new to Macs and don't know the lingo or my way around very well yet.

Exactly what steps did you follow?
    1. what do I do with original iTunes folder?
    It's on your old computer.
What do you want to do with it?
    2. how do I get iTunes to read/ingest playlist and songs?
If you copied the entire /Music/iTunes/ folder from old computer to /Music/ on new computer then you simply need to open iTunes.
Since it is the exact same library, everything will be there as it was on old computer.

  • Mini Mac won't  recognize my password

My mini mac won't recognize my passwoed. Is there any way to reset the password? I know I am entering it correctly. I am copying  down my the note pad I wrote it down on. I tried swapping  out the keyboard. I also tried resetting ithe as well. Please help.

Note: Resetting the keychain deletes all the old saved password entries!
You can't change a keychain password without knowing the old password.
Backup the files located in ~/Library/Keychain before resetting if you ever plan on attempting to recover the old keychain items (should you remember the old password).
The Finders 'Go menu > Go to folder…' will open that folder if you insert ~/Library/Keychain as the path.
