Windows Phone Store positioning

So, I've made a slots game
http://www.windowsphone.com/s?appid=3f90739d-6e32-4b5f-8d9a-216104dbc304 , but because it's positioned so far down in the app store, hardly anyone has played it.  Page two if you search the windows phone store and it doesn't show up at all if you search
for 'slots' on the phone itself.
I was hoping that, if customers liked my game, then they would give it good reviews and it would climb higher in the charts.  But this is not going happen if the game doesn't even show up in search.  Even worse, games which aren't actually slots
games rank higher in a search for 'slots', eg 2 Trucks, Jump Car for WP, Bingo Star and 4 in a Row.  I'm sure they're all worthy titles, but why are they showing up in a search for slots?
Anyway, any tips for improving my positioning would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I don't think it's possible to have a name for two different apps. When you try to associate your app with the name you have reserved it'll not let you have a name which is being already reserved.
Happy Coding!

  • How to publish Windows Phone 8.1 Silverlight app to Windows Phone store?

I created Windows Phone 8.1 Silverlight app, and I can't to upload it into WP store. I want to use Create
App Packages tool in Visual Studio 2013 Professional, but it's impossible for Silverlight apps. I read many guides
on dev.windows.com. It's necessary to upload only .appx, .appxbundleor .appxupload files,
    but I have .xap file
    only in Bin\ARM\Release folder.
    May anyone help me?

Appx packages are only for Windows Runtime apps. Windows Phone Silverlight apps use xap files. The Windows Phone Store will accept either xap (for Silverlight) or appx (for Runtime) apps.
I discussed this in more detail in my blog entry: Why can’t I create an app package? Windows Phone Xap vs. Appx

  • App not appearing in search result in Windows Phone Store

    Hi everyone,
Our app has been published to Windows Phone Store. We can find the app by following the direct link to the app (http://bit.ly/Te6itF), but cannot find it by searching on Windows Phone Store. The app is published to Public
    Store and is not hidden.
What can we do to solve this?
    Thanks.

Same for me. I released my application almost 10 days ago. It was normal. It was appearing in search result. But
4 days ago I've uploaded a new update for it. Now this is not appearing in search result. I also tried it by
its name and my publisher name. But not. I've not hide it from store, its visible and published. However I'm only able to find this by direct link (http://www.windowsphone.com/s?appid=63530408-d242-485a-b0da-7d4872f8d4c6)
only. I also can't find it through my another application (by opening application in store and click on more application by this developer). Please help me.

  • Racial discrimination exists in the Windows Phone store

Racial discrimination issues in the Windows Phone store kill my game.
My game suddenly disappeared in New + Rising list (Windows Phone Store)
Just a few hours before my game (250k - Chef's Burger). Was listed around 2th place in New and rising, now I can not even find it in the list, it seems that the app has dropped out of the list completly What happend ?
In fact, the problem is only in the US/UK Store, or other English-speaking countries Store. In Asia market, such as Taiwan, China, the problem does not exist, our games are still in New + Rising list.
I have reason to suspect microsoft for developers in different regions have different rules. If this is true, Windows Developer team should be ashamed, this is a racial discrimination, is shameful and unfair.
Our team is so disappointed. Even if we are not registered in the US, we still try our best to develop high quality apps and games for Microsoft Windows Phone Platform. If Windows Store want to become successful in the future, please treat every developer
    with equality.

  • App successfully passed certification to be included in the Windows Phone Store., still not showing in the store .

I have received notification that my app  has successfully passed certification to be included in the Windows Phone Store. But I don't  find
it in store with  public link . Can you tell me why it is not found on the market ? . How do I fix it ?

Whether or not there is a problem at the moment is beside the point. Whether there is a problem or not, the usual publication time varies from ~1 hour to several days. If an app is not on the store within a couple of hours it's still within the normal
timeframe; if it's not in the store after 3 or 4 days there may be an issue.
I don't know why there are so many posts from people expecting their app to be live in the store the minute they get an email. Microsoft need to do a better job of advising developers of the publication process.
Your problem is not the same as OP's, and neither is the updating issue you linked to.
I'm a self-taught noob amateur. Please take this into account when responding to my posts or when taking advice from me.

  • How to get PAID from Windows Phone Store?

I have more than 300 USD app proceeds in my Windows Phone Dev Account. But I am not getting paid. How to get paid?
I have also a Windows Store Dev Account. Last month, it reached 200 USD and I got paid. But I am confused about the
Windows Phone Dev account. It crossed the threshold amount 2 months ago. But I am not seeing any chance to get paid. Is this only happening to me? Or do I have to earn more app proceeds?
Kindly reply me as soon as possible. Thank you!

  • How can i use shoutcast streams on windows phone?

I have an idea to make an application but i don't know how to use shoutcast streams in windows phone ? Is there any API or something that i need to fallow?
    Alican

At the moment Shoutcast audio streams are not supported natively in Windows Phone. You will need to write a self implementation of IMediaStreamSource to parse the audiostream and also handle the http connections to the streaming server.
Another solution is to use a third party implementation such as www.jupitersdk.com.
It offers a well documented API, is easy to integrate and use into your project and there is a trial version for testing purposes.
Jupiter Sdk has successfully been used in several RadioStreaming apps which can be found in the Windows Phone Store. By the way, it allows not only to play Shoutcast and Icecast audiostreams in Windows Phone 8.1, but also to retrieve the stream metadata (i.e.
current Title and Artist), among other interesting features.

  • Application Insights is not recording any data from the released version of my Windows Phone app

I released my first Windows Phone app a week ago, and Application Insights worked perfectly to collect usage data whilst in a debug build. However, the released version of the app is not returning any data at all. Is this a common problem for new apps or
is there a problem that I need to address?
I configured Application Insights for my app using the information on this guide - http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn509554.aspx
Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated, thanks for your help.

Hi Bernard, thanks for your reply.
I tested the data using a release package of the Windows Phone app deployed directly to my phone from Visual Studio and the data appeared after around 10 minutes. However, once I published the exact same package to the Windows Phone Store and started using
the version downloaded from the store, no usage data has been uploaded even after several days of waiting.
I am using SDK 0.7.1 and Application Insights Tools for Visual Studio v1.3.2. The app is built for WP 8.0 and running on WP 8.1.
    The instrumentation key is 757eeaff-605e-44a2-8eaa-6abf498bfcf5.
Thanks for your time and help, I really appreciate it.

  • How to make backward compatibility of windows phone 8.1 app for windows phone 7?

I developed windows phone 8.1 app which is in windows phone store. Now, i want to make this app compatible for windows 7 also. Is it possible, if yes then how?

It may be that you are using non-backward compatible capabilities in your Windows Phone 8.1 app(s).
Developers that want to develop for different OS's usually have platforms with the different OS's on them for developing applications so they work on each platform.
I suppose you developed for Windows phone 8.1 rather than Windows phone 7. Therefore your app runs on a different framework than a Windows phone 7 has as well as probably newer hardware with greater capabilities.
So you will probably need to purchase an older phone that came with Windows phone 7 in order to develop for. I couldn't find documentation like the last link below (App capabilities and hardware requirements for Windows Phone 8) for Windows phone 7
from Microsoft but maybe you can.
Windows Phone OS 7.1 - Developing a Windows Phone Application from Start to Finish
    Types of Applications
The Windows Phone application platform provides two frameworks for developing applications:
    Silverlight
The Silverlight framework supports event-driven, XAML-based application development.
    XNA
The XNA Framework supports loop-based games.
Silverlight and XNA can also be combined in a single application.
The following table lists some of the criteria that you can use to determine whether you should use Silverlight or the XNA Framework for your Windows Phone application. With Windows Phone OS 7.1, you can combine Silverlight and XNA into one application.
For more information about Silverlight and XNA, see
The Silverlight and XNA Frameworks for Windows Phone. For more information about the application platform, see
Application Platform Overview for Windows Phone.
What's New in Windows Phone 8.1
Platform convergence with Windows Store apps
Windows Phone 8.1 introduces an important change in the Windows Phone developer ecosystem. In this release, Windows Phone converges with the Windows Store apps platform into a single developer platform that runs the same types of apps—Windows Runtime apps.
Platform convergence began in Windows Phone 8, which supports a small subset of Windows Runtime APIs, but which differs from Windows in many core areas. In Windows Phone 8.1, there’s so much more in common—a much larger API set, a similar app model
and life cycle, a shared toolset, a common UI framework—Windows Phone and Windows Store app developer platforms truly have become one, single development platform.
Of course there are still some small differences in behavior and supported features between Windows Phone and Windows Store apps. Some of these are the result of timing of the different product cycles, and they may not appear in future releases. Some differences
are the result of the different natures of phones and computers, their sizes, and the way people use them. We encourage developers to think in terms of Windows app development—developing for a single Windows Runtime, but targeting two different platforms on
    phones and computers.

  • How to stream audio in Windows Phone 8.1?

I have a Windows Phone Silverlight 8.0 app I want to update to 8.1 using WinRT. It streams audio in the background.  In Silverlight, I used
BackgroundAudioPlayer to set the Track to a Uri.  It's not clear how to do this with
MediaPlayer in WinRT.  I don't think I can just use a Uri.  Instead, I wonder if I have to use
    MediaPlayer.SetStreamSource(IRandomAccessStream
stream).  If so, I don't know how to get an IRandomAccessStream from a
Uri.  I want to stream from a Uri on the internet over HTTP, not from a local file. Any help?

Refer following links to stream audio in background in Windows Phone 8.1 Runtime app.
    https://code.msdn.microsoft.com/windowsapps/Background-Audio-in-WinRT-344bcf4d
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/johnkenn/archive/2013/12/31/supporting-background-audio-in-your-windows-8-1-app.aspx
Thank you for thinking about my problem. I may be mistaken, but I think the above links refer to Windows 8 apps, not Windows
Phone 8.1 apps. I'm under the impression that background audio is done differently in Windows Phone 8.1 from Windows 8. The
Background Audio Overview for Windows Phone Store apps explains more.
It's a good overview, but does not explain how to play audio from a stream rather than a file.  That's what I'm stuck on.
