Windows Server automatically restart

Hi,
My server had restarted automatically while i was checking the reason from Event viewer i could find the below log,
The process msiexec.exe has initiated the restart of computer SYNCANALYTICS on behalf of user NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM for the following reason: No title for this reason could be found
 Reason Code: 0x80030002
 Shutdown Type: restart
Comment: The Windows Installer initiated a system restart to complete or continue the configuration of 'TortoiseSVN 1.8.10.26129 (64 bit)'.
How can i stop this kind auto restarts?
Regards,
Karthik.

You may need to reinstall (or uninstall) the application. If no joy I'd probably contact them here.

    sachindere76 ,
good question, but this is not the problem.
I did re-code my "public int getCard1()" method though:
    it was:
    public int getCard1 () {
    return card1;
    and I changed it to:
    public String getCard1 () {
              return Integer.toString(card1);
since my jsp page tag was aparently looking for a string to work with, returning a String from the method seems to have helped now.
I rebooted my machine and re-strated jakarta-tomcat server to verify and it worked fine this time.

  • DST in Windows Server needs restart?

    Hi,
Coming from UNIX/Oracle environment, we do not need to restart the server when DST starts.
Is this the same case with SAP in Windows server 2003 & Oracle DB?
    tnx,
    kbas

    Hi Juan,
The change is automatic in the OS side.  the time will be automatically moved forward for an hour on sunday morning (5/Oct/08).
I remember that in unix, our SAP system did not have any error when the time moved forward so we did not restart the SAP system and DB.
How about in SAP/Ora in windows server?
    tnx,
    kbas

For the bugcheck information, please see:
    Bug Check 0xC000021A: STATUS_SYSTEM_PROCESS_TERMINATED
The result shows that The Winlogon process terminated unexpectedly.
The cause is explained as below:
This error occurs when a user-mode subsystem, such as WinLogon or the Client Server Run-Time Subsystem (CSRSS), has been fatally compromised and security can no longer be guaranteed. In response, the operating system switches to kernel mode. Microsoft Windows
cannot run without WinLogon or CSRSS. Therefore, this is one of the few cases where the failure of a user-mode service can shut down the system.
Mismatched system files can also cause this error. This can occur if you have restored your hard disk from a backup. Some backup programs might skip restoring system files that they determine are in use.
To resolve this issue, you may take a try with the following command:
    Dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
    Reference:
    Fixing component
store corruption in Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012
Or you may take a PC refresh.

I could not find the way to aviod constant repair after restart.

  • Windows server not shutting down

    Hi guys,
We have installed and configured correctly a PI 7.0
system on Windows 2003 Standard Edition X64-bit with SQL Server 2005.
We are on SP12. Everything, SLD, RFC connections work properly.
The problem was that 4-5 days after the installation the Windows Server
started restarting automatically in unexpected time during the day
(unexpected shutdown), even when anybody didn't do anything in the
    system.
SAP suggested us to upgrade firmware, network card and
memory, which actually solved the problem.
However, the problem that we are facing right now is that the Windows
Server is not shutting down. That is, we are trying to shut down the
operating system, but it never does so.
SAP suggested us that it could be a service
which is defined as restart ever, and to try commands shutdown -s/-r -t 00 -f
from CMD, but no result. The server is trying to shut down or restart unsuccessfully.
It remains in a grey page and is trying to shut down itself.
This is a production system and we go live on 01/01/2008! Do you have
    any ideas?

you can use jcmon to achieve this.
    Goto your SYS/profile directory:
    e.g. /usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/profile or X:\usr\sap.... on Windows
    Start jcmon using:
    jcmon pf=<PROFILE>
The Profile to be used is +<SID>_JC<InstanceNo>_<hostname>+

  • Windows 2012 server automatic counter - didn't restart when updates were applied

I have enabled automatic patching and set the following group policies under computer configuration>adm temp>windows comp>windows update>
always automatically restart at the scheduled time enabled
    configure automatic updates (4 > everyday 03:00)
allow automatic updates immediate installation disabled
no auto-restart with logged on users for scheduled automate updates disabled
reschedule automatic updates scheduled installation disabled
The problem is that the updates were installed at 3 am last night and when I logged on to the server now - it said - I'll reboot in 15 minutes.
AlwaysAutoRebootAtScheduledTime reg key is set to 1.
How can I get the server to boot when it has installed its updates at 3 am?? What have I done wrong here?
ps : net stop "windows update" stopped the countdown as needed.

    Hi,
Based on your description, it's suggested that we also disable the following setting:
No Auto-restart for Scheduled Automatic Update Installation Options
If the status of this setting is set to
    Disabled or
Not Configured, Automatic Updates will notify the user that the computer will automatically restart in 5 minutes to complete the installation.
Regarding this point, the following article can be referred to for more information.
Configure Automatic Updates by Using Group Policy
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc720539(v=ws.10).aspx
    >>AlwaysAutoRebootAtScheduledTime reg key is set to 1
When this registry value is set to 1, you are still notified of the upcoming automatic restart on the sign-in screen. However,
at the end of the three-day period, the 15-minute counter begins even if the computer is locked. The restart also occurs even if the computer is locked. .

  • Windows server 2003 not working after computer hard restart

Hello, the following problem did occure. I was logged to windows server 2003, working on it, when my pc suddenly frozen, so i had no other option, than to make a hard restart of my pc. From that time, when a log into the windows server, i can see the server
desktop, but i cannot click on anything. I am hearing just the clicking sound. When i minimalize it a maximalize it back, all i can see is a black screen.
Can anyone help me, how to solve this problem ?
    Thank you for your answers

    Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is that Windows Server 2003 unable to start correctly.
You may try to restart the computer, when you see the message Please select the operating system to start, press the F8 . select the
Last Known Good Configuration, in order to start the computer by using the most recent settings that worked.
Or you may select Windows Advanced Option –> Safe Mode, check to see if this was caused by faulty drivers, programs, or services that start automatically.
More methods about troubleshooting startup problem, you may reference the link below:

    hi there,

     Comment:

    Hi hbasjdhba,
The error ID USER32 1074 is documented in the KB below:
On a computer running Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2 an incorrect shutdown reason code written to SEL on user initiated shutdown
The above KB offers a workaround:
    WORKAROUND:
Use shutdown.exe to initiate the shutdown. E.g. from the elevated command line run:
    shutdown.exe /r /d P:4:2
This will result in an eventlog and SEL entry with reason code 0x80040002.
Shutdown reason codes can be found here:   http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa376885(VS.85).aspx
Please take a try with the above workaround, after that, scan for Windows updates, make sure Windows is always up to date.
If any further help needed, please feel free to ask.
    Best regards

  • Oradim.exe automatic restart by windows

    O/S: Windows server 2003 r2
    DB Version: 10.2.0.3
When the instance is down, windows is trying to restart the instance using oradim.exe, automatically.
But its not picking up correct pfile to startup. I want to change that.
windows is automatically executing the following statement: (from oradim.log)
    C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_2\bin\oradim.exe -startup -sid db123 -usrpwd * -log oradim.log -nocheck 0
Not able to understand from where it's picking up this info.
how to change this to pick up different pfile?
i have checked HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\system\currentcontrolset\services\oraclestartdb123, its having info related to oracle.exe
    thanks,

    adk wrote:
is there a way to know with what parameters oracle.exe invoking oradim.exe
as suggested by vreddy, if i execute the following command, oradim -edit -sid -pfile 'new_path', will it pickup this new pfile next time if it tries to restart in similar situation? If you use oradim -edit -sid... a registry key will be created similar to:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE\KEY_<Your Home Name>\ORA_<Your SID>_PFILE
This key/value will be read upon service startup by oracle.exe and used.
If you wanted to dig deeper you could use a tool like Microsoft's Sysinternals Process Monitor on the server/host to capture activity during service startup.
Use your search engine of choice to learn more about Process Monitor (especially filtering events).
For example, on a local test system Process Monitor shows the following for one of my test instances (abridged):
    Process Name:
    oracle.exe
    Command Line:
    C:\Oracle\11.2\database\bin\oradim.exe -startup -sid v112 -usrpwd xyzxyz "" -log oradim.log -nocheck 0
On this system I am not using a pfile but you can see which spfile was used as follows (abridged):
    Operation:     IRP_MJ_CREATE
    Result:     SUCCESS
    Path:     C:\Oracle\11.2\database\database\SPFILEV112.ORA
Keep in mind that there is cooperative effort between binaries/processes/registry so it's not always as obvious as you might like.

  • Unable to add File Server Resource Manager Tools on Windows Server 2012 - Errors on restart and roll back install

Unable to install Windows Server 2012 Feature -  [Tools] File Server Resource Manager Tools.
Installs, however when I restart the server error messages appears saying feature unable to install, windows reverting changes.
In the Setup event logs have the following information message "Update FSRM-Infrastructure of package FSRM-All failed to be turned on. Status: 0x800f0922"
Does anyone have any idea's on why this Feature can not be installed ??

    Hi Shaun
Tried both of your suggestions, however neither strategy worked.
    Strategy 1
Tried installing via powershell - "install-windowsfeature -name fs-resource-manager -includemanagementtools"
Feature un-installed itself during the restart.
Attempted to use the command "DISM /online /remove-feature /featurename:FSRM-Infrastructure-Services".  However
this did work because one the Service was'nt installed or two because there was no command option for "/remove-feature"

    Strategy 2
Tried installing via powershell, using the following command DISM
/online /enable-feature /featurename:FSRM-Infrastructure-Services, however got the same result, the install backed out during the restart.
All up back to where I started?

  • Windows Server 2008 R2 only detect USB storage drives if I restart the system

Hi, I have a Windows Server 2008 R2 with an weird behaviour. I cannot connect any USB drive (not USB external hard disk neither pendrives). Windows device manager detects the device as
Mass Storage Device, but with a yellow exclamation sign. The exact error code is:
    The device cannot start.
However, if I restart the machine keeping the USB disk plugged, the hard disk (or pendrive) is correctly detected and usable.
    I've tried:
    Update mass storage driver.
    Review HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\usbstor "Start"
and is 3 (I think is right)
I've tried with different usb hard disks that are working in other PCs.
I've tried with large (>1TB) disks and small (8GB) pendrives.
I've tried all available USB ports, front and back, with same behaviour.
Always I get a yellow exclamation  (Device cannot start) and if I restart the computer the device is working perfectly.
    Can someone help me?
    Thanks in advance
Edit: Here is the log of connecting a Kingstone USB 8GB pendrive

I tried, but windows says that the best driver is alredy installed.
Now I've just tried to delete (uninstall) absolutly all devices under Universal Serial Bus Controller
(host controllers, root hubs, etc) into Device Manager, and then I've click on
Scan for hardware changes to force reinstall of all USB drivers. After that I've connected my USB external hard disk and has been correctly recognized and its working. However I don't know if when I'll restar the server and connect a new one usb device
it will continue working or not. I'll try later, because this is a production server.
I've tried for drivers into HP site to update or reinstall, but there isn't any driver for motherboard or USB controller. It's an HP ML350 G6.
