You probably have a newer version of a PDF Library on the system e.g. by installing Digital Editions or Adobe Reader. You will have to uninstall them first and then try again.

  • M2Sys Bio-plugin on Windows Server2012

I'm unsure if this is the best forum category or not...
We have an M2Sys finger scanner and accompanying software on Windows Server 2003.  The software will install but NOT activate on Windows Server 2012.  To activate, you launch the program via Control Panel where you insert your credentials
in a couple of 'windows'.  Launching on Windows Server 2012 produces only the 'do you want to uninstall' process.  M2Sys has been absolutely no help in a simple activation...very frustrating.  Of course, for $99 they'll talk to me but they
won't even say whether or not I'll have to pay for the updated version of the software!!  Ugh!
    Has anyone else experienced this?

I am using both M2SYS fingerprint and finger vein scanner with software for long time. Absolutely fantastic solution and no problems yet. I never faced any customer service problem and their response time is also very quick. I think you have other issues.

  • ConsoleOne work-a-like for adminning Windows/AD

I hope the mods won't smite me for asking this here. I've asked over at SpiceWorks, but apparently that's mostly Windows and Linux admins who have no real idea of what "elegance" is.
My question: does anyone know of a tool for administering Windows/AD that can do as much (and as well) as ConsoleOne did for Netware/eDirectory? After 10+ years of using it, I've grown quite fond of the simple tree interface that C1 has, and the fact that I can do almost anything necessary in my eDirectory with it. I really miss that power with our new fire-breathing Windows Server2012 boxes. I haven't yet found anything similar for Windows, and was hoping that someone here might have a pointer, or at least tell me it's a fool's quest.
    Thanks,
    Dave

I never thought I'd see the day that someone wanted something
ConsoleOne-like for administering Windows/AD especially since it's been
deprecated by Novell in favour of iManager and other admin tools/interfaces.
Windows servers are managed via Microsoft Management Console (MMC) - see
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l.../cc709659.aspx for information
about MMC 3.0 available with Windows Server 2012.
Of course if you hooked your Windows Servers up to Novell eDirectory via
Domain Service for Windows you could then use Novell's management tools
to administer the AD-side of things!

  • Yosemite/Active Directory/Windows Server

After upgrading two iMacs from Mavericks to Yosemite, both now fail to connect to user accounts created with Windows Server2012. When using Mavericks I did not have this issue. Any thoughts? I did unbind but now the binding process fails as well.

This fixed my problem- Network Preferences/Advanced/DNS then add the NAME of your local server to the search domain. Click apply. Next, open Directory Utility and unbind the computer. Lastly, Bind the computer making sure to input the name of the local server in the space for Active Directory Domain (the same name you added to the Search Domain) and click on Bind. Hope this works!

  • Please help - Connection Refused - Mac to Windows Server 2012

I have downloaded MS Remote Desktop onto my brand new Macbook Air OS X and have tried to connect to my school network - which when logged in says it is "Windows Server2012"
However each time I try to log in it simply says connections refused.  Nothing more.
Not sure what I can do next.
    Thank you for any help,
    Laura

    Hi Laura,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Are you trying to remote desktop with IP address or hostname?
Please try both alternate way and check is there any difference between them. Also as suggested by Manouchehr Omari, please see that you have remote desktop enabled on server 2012 and related RDP port (3389) opened for remote connection to take place under
firewall setting. If possible for a try disable firewall and check. You can get more troubleshooting information from beneath link.

  • Email Notification on Calendar list Sharepoint Foundation 2013 not sending out email

    Hi,
Actually i have 2 problem. I just don't have any idea how to solve them.
1 ) I have a machine installed with Windows Server2012 and Sharepoint Foundation 2013. Email invitation from system and alert me email is working fine. Then I created a few email sending workflow using sharepoint designer 2013. The email are going out fine
for list or document library but gave out error when i tried to send from Calendar list. The error is saying that the outgoing email is not configured correctly. If that was the case, should it be that i will receive error for all.
    2) I have another machine with same installation as above but doesn't send out any kind of email(Invitation, alert me, SPD2013 custom worflow). I've checked telnet port 587, it is responding fine. I want to know if i need to open port in the firewall/router
settings for this port or if this issue is due to something else.
    Any help is really appreciated.

    Look.
I think this is the correct configuration because it sends emails normaly with SharePoint 2010.
If I configure my own email account in Outbound Security, Sharepoint 2013 sends emails but just when I login to Sharepoint, if other users login it doesn't send emails.

Before you start to use WinDbg you also need to configure the symbol path – just go to file->symbol file path and the path you need to enter for the Microsoft public symbol

  • How to control and manage several microsoft accounts and have control

Windows 8 has brought many unique challenges, and very few IT people seem to be able to answer questions like this.
I  am a mechanical engineer for a small company who wishes to install Windows server2012 on a new server with new laptops for each user, and some users are intended to have windows tablets in addition to having laptops.
We have written policy in place with regard to using office equipment only for business use, not personal, and that all information is confidential, and only free applications may be downloaded or else they will be paid for by the company for all
who require to use them, so there are no issues with regard to who owns what.
Please reply to the question below in simple language, I understand computers and software and how they work, but I am not an IT guy, and our company cannot afford to employ a permanent IT person, so I need to be able to ensure that certain controls
are in place and effected properly by the IT contractor we employ.
The company must at all times have control over and access to all data on laptops and the server, as it is all intellectual property of the company. How do we create Microsoft accounts that allow us to remain in control despite employees using their
mail address and personal pin numbers as an alias to operate ?

    Hi,
As I know, SCOM (system Center Operations Manager) can do some monitor jobs which is close to your goal. It is a cross-platform data center management system for operating systems and hypervisors. It uses a single interface that shows state,
health and performance information of computer systems. It also provides alerts generated according to some availability, performance, configuration or security situation being identified.

  • Missing Administrative Templates in Group Policy Tree.

Few days ago,I found administrative plateform missing which supposed to be listed under GPO.Meanwhile, GPO reports correctly. I did attempt to registy 'gptext.dll' and success following the suggestion, but it didn't work. And it seems the
'gptext.dll' could be registy repeatly without error. What exactly happened? What real actions i need to do?
(Based on Windows Server2012 R2 Domain Controller)

    Hi,
In my point of view, we can first to check if these Administrative Templates exist. So as Zanderol24 said, did you create central store? if you have created central store, make sure these Administrative
Templates are existed in central store. If you have not created central store, make sure these Administrative Templates are located in PolicyDefinitions folder.
If these Administrative Templates are exist in your central store or PolicyDefinitions folder, we can try to import these Administrative Templates manually.

  • Activation fails using automated phone system

I've used a MAK to activate several Windows Server2012 R2 machines using the automated phone system. On one machine, I enter the confirmation ID and get the "Thanks, you're all done" message, but when I check using slmgr, it still shows Unlicensed.
I've tried using slmgr /atp <confirmation ID>, and get "Error: Product activation failed." I believe I am entering the correct confirmation ID, because if I change it I get an error message that the confirmation ID is invalid.
Any ideas on where to look at why product activation is failing would be appreciated!

    Hi bmoranb,
Would you please let us know current situation of this issue? Any update?
I agree with Tim. MAKs by design have a limited number of activations. I suggest that you should contact the
    Microsoft Activation Call Center.
