Windows Vista and iTunes Music Video

I recently purchased a new computer with Windows Vista, loaded Itunes and transferred my Itunes Library to the new computer. The music files work fine but the music video files have a glitch. The video freezes intermitently while the audio continues to play smoothly. Help?

  • Windows Vista and iTunes does not work

First Time sorry for my bad English, I'm from Germany and my English is not the best.
I have the new Windows Vista but iTunes does not work good.
And I have to use it, to manage my music on my iPod.
When there will be a Vista compatibles Version of iTunes??
And when will come an 64-Bit Version?
    Thanks for Help,
    Karsten

iTunes running under VISTA does not recognize media burned by iTunes Backup (v7.0.2) from a non-Vista machine.
The original machine recognizes the media just fine, but the new VISTA machine does not recognize the dvd at all.
Anyone else having a problem with VISTA recognizing burnt media?

  • Windows Vista and iTunes downloads

I have a new computer with Windows Vista and downloaded iTunes on it. My previous music iTunes library works fine, but when I try to play a recently downloaded song, I get a message that I am not authorized to play it on this computer. What does that mean? I already tried reinstalling everything and it did not help. Any other ideas?
    Thanks!

I suggest you post your message in the "iTunes for Windows" forum found at <http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=150>. It's a more appropriate place to find answers to your question.

  • A Troubleshooting Guide for Windows Vista and iTunes 8 - user supported

ITunes 8 and Windows Vista can be an explosive combination. Having helped to troubleshoot some problems for people, I decide to consolidate my information all down to one post. The information comes from various sources, and I will try to annotate where it came from. Please let’s keep this a solutions listing post. So people can come to it when they have a problem and easily find a solution.
    *ITunes will not install:*
ITunes will sometimes not install or the installation will hang up under Vista. First I will give some generalized steps to take in order of priority, and then get into some specifics.
    General
*1. Turn off your Anti-Virus Software.* Some A/V software will prevent the installer from accessing the Windows System Files causing the install to Bork.
*2. Uninstall third-party Audio-Video Codecs.* Installing iTunes also installs Quicktime which installs the necessary codecs to play its supported files. Some codec packs, such as DivX and XviD have the ability to read these files, and their method of decoding these files can cause conflicts with the Quicktime installation. Even third-party CD Burning (Roxio, Nero, and the like) software can cause this problem. Once iTunes is installed, you can reinstall these codecs without any ill effects.
*3. Disable Windows Defender.* Windows Defender is a resident A/V type program native to Windows Vista. It can also sometimes cause conflicts during installation. To disable it, go to the Windows Defender tab in your Control Panel, and chose disable in the dialogue box.
    Specific
*1. When I install iTunes, the installation stops and I get error message 2738.* This error message means that the Visual Basic Script is not being installed properly or it could be disabled. To fix this we need to re-initialize the Visual Basic Script server. Do the following:
In the search panel of the start bar, type cmd.exe.
When the search results are listed, right click on cmd.exe and select run as administrator.
Type in the following at the command prompt: regsvr32 vbscript.dll and hit enter.
Run the iTunes install program again.
*2. ITunes installed properly, but now I am stuck in a reboot loop.*
This behaviour is a known problem to Apple and they are working on it. What is happening, when you run the program, it is involking a repair check of your installation. Beaconfield came up with a work around to use until Apple patches the software.
“Navigate to C:\Program Files\iTunes\ and right click on iTunes.exe then select Sent To > Desktop. This will create a new icon that should load iTunes just fine.”
I know there are more issues out there, but these seem to be the most common. If anyone has anymore solutions, please add them to this post. Like I said initially, I would like this post to be an easy reference for troubleshooting.
    Thanks again,

Ok, so I saved my Windows Media Player playlist as M3U files and imported them into iTunes. Wow! What a complete mess that made of my library.
All songs that were on the playlists (hundreds of songs) were duplicated in my iTunes library. iTunes would show two entries for each song. When I right clicked and choose 'Show in Windows Explorer' both entries point to the same song, it just shows up twice in iTunes.
I cleared my iTunes library file and am starting over. I'm thinking about just going back to Windows Media Player. I've been listening to music off my Blackberry and it's really been fine. Just seemed a shame that my iPod was sitting in a drawer because of all the issues I'm having with iTunes and Vista.
The original problem I had months ago was that iTunes crashed on Vista and lost all my Playlists. I was so upset I put all my music on my SD card on my Blackberry, because Windows Media Player makes it so easy to back up your playlists. They are saved as files and can be included in any automatic backups (I have scheduled backups to another hard drive)
I thought with this new version of iTunes I could at least export the playlists to files so they can be backed up, I just don't know if I can face re-creating the playlists in iTunes.

  • Windows Vista and iTunes just don't get along!

    Everyone,
I'm having some serious issues with iTunes 7.6 and Windows Vista Ultimate. This is on a new capable computer, with a vista system rating of 5.1. Newest device drivers and windows updates are installed.
Problem #1- iTunes takes forever to start up. At least 30 seconds, sometimes a full minute. During this time, there is very little HDD activity, processor usage is under 4%, and the system responds quickly to other requests. Other applications and games have to issues with startup, only iTunes.
Problem #2- Occasionally, the iTunes window becomes black. If I then hit the start button on the keyboard, the iTunes window becomes normal again, but it is quite annoying.
Anyone else experiencing these issues? Any resolutions?

I'm going to group 1, 2, and 3 together, and assume it sounds as if the iBook hasn't been authorized for use with your iTunes Store account. In iTunes, click on your Store menu (at the top of the screen) and click Authorize Computer. Enter the information used to make your purchases and click Authorize. Once it says it's successful, see if you can play the songs in iTunes first. If so, go ahead and try to get them onto the iPod (whichever method you prefer). If they still don't play, please repost with the error message you receive so we can be of better assistance.
Number 4 sounds like it may be normal behavior... example: If you have 10 songs in your Music library and you Autofill the iPod with all of them, and go back to the iPod's Contents and manually delete 5 of them, then add 3 more songs to your library and Autofill the iPod again from your Music library, you'll end up with all 13 songs on your iPod again. Let me know if you're able to follow what I'm saying... I almost wasn't :P

  • Windows Vista and itunes 10.6

After I installed itunes 10.6, the shorcut on my desktop no longer works.  The message I received said something about the file path no longer working.  I'm running Windows Vista.  Any ideas?

When I type itunes in the search menu, it bring up my music, then a folder named itunes. Howver, when I click on the folder it opens to itunes files - library, library extras, previous libraries. Back up files - maybe?
That's your content files and library files.
Let's check to see if iTunes is currently installed. Head into your Uninstall a program control panel. Can you see iTunes in the list of programs?
If it's showing in the list, select iTunes and click repair. Does the repair go through properly?
If it isn't showing in the list, try downloading and installing a fresh copy:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Does that install go through OK?

  • Windows Vista and itunes at war on my laptop

Just recently, everytime I load up itunes on my laptop (windows vista) a pop-up error message comes up saying "AppleMobileDeviceHelper has stopped working". Th box keeps coming up (there were over 50 the first occasion this happened) and only seems to stop when I close itunes.
Obviously, I would like this to stop so if anyone has any solutions, I would be eternally grateful. Otherwise, does anyone have a contact number for itunes so that I could speak to a member of their own support staff? The help page was anything but!
    Thanks in advance

  • Windows Vista and iTunes

iTune errors will be corrected by Microsoft in the RTM and Customer versions of Vista. RTM is out in many areas now and the Customer versions are out in 30 days.
Until then, give this a try...
1 - Go to your VISTA Control Panel and get into Admin Services. Find iTunes. Stop and restart thoses services.
2 - Go to your VISTA Explorer and find \iTunes under Program Files. Under \iTunes, find iTunes.EXE. Right Click on iTunes.EXE and select the option to run as Administrator.
This will launch a session of iTunes. You should be able to sync your iPod from there. Be sure that you have downloaded iTunes 7.2 on your Vista machine prior to doing this. I was getting many 1418, 1417, and other errors until I found this fix on the MS Vista site. My iTunes HELP diagnostic told me that iTunes was not running as an administrator and that my iTunes servics were not running, as well. That clued me into the fix I mention above. Good Luck All and Happy New Year
HP Laptop   Other OS   Windows Vista

    Glad to help fiscus.
Under Step #1 of my fix, what you are looking to do is to stop and restart the iTunes Services in Vista. Services can be accessed in Vista under Control Panel and Administrative Tools. Services is one of many options you can select under Administrative Tools.
While in Services - locate the iTunes service. Even if the service shows as "started", take the options in the top left-hand corner of the Services screen to stop and restart the services for iTunes.
Then, be sure to locate iTunes.EXE under Program Files and select the right click option to run iTunes.EXE in administrative mode (even if you are the administrator).
iTunes claims that by the end of January, that they will have a fix for Vista posted, as well. I can just feel the love!
Now, if I could only get connected to the iTunes store to buy more songs and give Apple more of my money...

  • Home Sharing Between Mac and PC with Windows Vista and Wireless Ethernet

    Hello.
I want to ask if anyone knows what is the problem.
I have Home Sharing Activated in my two computers and File Sharing Activated too.
My MacBook Pro has iTunes 10 and Snow Leopard all updated and my PC has Windows Vista and iTunes 10.
My MacBook Pro is connected to my network wirelessly and my PC is connected by the Ethernet Cable.
    Anyone can help?

since you don't describe the problem in detail, see if something here helps:
what you want to see in iTunes is this (view from my MBP's iTunes seeing the library on my Mini)
if you then click on the house icon, it will change to this and the shared library will load. at that point, two buttons will appear in the lower right corner of the iTunes window, being settings and import
now you should be able to import any content from any shared library by selecting the content and clicking on import.
if the icon looks like this , home sharing has not been set up correctly.
in order for home sharing to work
    (a) iTunes on all machines must be authorized for the same iTunes store account
    (b) all machines must be on the same network
    (c) all machines must have access to the internet.
if none of the above makes a difference, try turning home sharing off on all computers, then turning it back on.
these reads will be useful: one and two.

  • TS1717 I have been running Itunes on windows vista and recently loaded Itunes on my Lap top which runs on Windows 7.  When I try to play my music the Lap top only play sample music.  Any suggestions?

I have a desk top which has Windows Vista.  On this computer I have been running Itunes for a long time.  My new computer is a Lap top and it runs Windows 7.
I recently loaded Itune on the new computer. I attemted to use Easy Transfer to transfer my Music but was unable to connected the two computers so I transferred my music to a external hard drive and loaded the music on the new computer.  I have the folders and files carefully and they appear to match.  When I try to run Itunes on the new computer I am unable to access the new music.  Itune always goes to the sample music.  The only difference I can come up with is Windows Vista and Windows 7.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Hi,
Are you trying to use the Help -> Updates method?
Both those patches need to be manually applied to PSE 9.
