Windows XP and java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Console
Our company is currently using a web page to launch a java applet that redirect the user to an application server to demo our product. This has been and still is working fine for all Windows version until XP. And depending on which version of XP, sometimes it will work and sometime it won't. The link to the web site to launch the applet is http://www.aasys.com/gs_java/iejava.htm if you wish to test it.
It should take you to a screen asking for a security code which we would provide to our customers. If you get this far it is working.
Any suggestion would be helpful.
Thanks.

Your first option we are currently looking at but have not tested it yet. We would prefer the end user not to have to do this, but they may have to in the end.
Your second option seems the best route to go and we may be able to get the source code from our vendor. Once this is compiled under 1.4.2 will it still be compatable with the older version of MS JVM or will our users need to download the current Java plugin? Since this the way that Java is proceeding this will most likely work for everyone.
Thanks.

This happens only on our stage and production instances. On our dev instance it works without problems. All 3 instances are setup the same, although our dev instance was created long time before the stage and prod instances. However, we cannot detect any differences between the machines.
I've tried the solutions mentioned in the other similar thread: Failed to create Salience object but this doesnt solve the issue since the directory and variables were already correct.
Anyone can help?Given that you are running this in Clover Server, one thing I can recommend is to shut that server down, move/truncate the logs, restart and retest, then look at the first error message you get when attempting to run the graph. Java classloaders sometimes cache failed class clinit and report future attempts to load that class as a simple NoClassDefFoundError, masking the original/actual root cause. With any luck you might find another, clearer error - maybe the native binary libraries are not being located.

>Hello,
I recommend not the xmlpull jar file, but the xpp3-*.jar file found with your Enterprise installation. It's in the "external" subfolder where you got your other Enterprise jar files.
You'll have to remove the xmlpull jar, since they'd version conflict.

Hi,
I have a basic maven application created using oracle WebLogic Maven Plugin. Application uses UCP and I am logging UCP connection details in the application. Application is deployed to wls 12.1.3 ( JDK jdk1.8.0_45 ) and it gives java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: oracle/dms/console/DMSConsole when accessed.
I have dms.jar in maven pom dependency ( added to local mvn repo manually ) and I verified that dms.jar is present in WEB-INF\lib in the application war and dms.jar contains DMSConsole class file under oracle/dms/console folder. I am using spring beans to initialize UCP logging. This appliation works in Tomcat 7.5. It gives error in wls 12.1.3 and 12.1.1 . Please advice on how to debug/ resolve...
bean for logging
<bean id="conpoolmgr"
class="oracle.ucp.admin.UniversalConnectionPoolManagerImpl"
factory-method="getUniversalConnectionPoolManager"

SandeepVerified WebLogic Classloading using CAT '( wls-cat app ) and found oracle.dms.console.DMSConsole was loaded from web-inf jar and ucp classes were loaded from jar from weblogic, used below entry in weblogic.xml to load everything from web-inf to resolve the issue
<container-descriptor>
<prefer-web-inf-classes>true</prefer-web-inf-classes>

So, the question is... is there some bug in the Tomcat and Java combination I've got that caused this? If not, then what happened? Should I up the logging level to warnings? Should I move the jars I'm using into the tomcat lib dir? Any help would be appreciated by this early java learner.
Thanks,

I am developping in BPM Studio 10.3.1 for a BPM process. I am trying this :
Plumtree.Edk.IRemoteSession iRemoteSession=RemoteSessionFactory.getExplicitLoginContext(new URL("http://portalhost:11905/ptapi/services/QueryInterfaceAPI"), "administrator", "portal");
IObjectManager objectManager = iRemoteSession.getObjectManager(ObjectClass.User);
IObjectQueryRow userObject = objectManager.querySingleObject(220); //objectid of a known user
String participantMail = userObject.getExtendedData().getStringValue("Mail");
String participantUserName = userObject.getExtendedData().getStringValue(String.valueOf(UserProperty.LoginName));
Now, when I execute this code through the BPM application portlet in WCI 10.3.1, I get this error :
The task could not be successfully executed.

Windows 2000: Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError
I've had much success using Java 1.4.0-beta under Win98. After upgrading to Win2000, I can't get Java to execute the class file. Everything compiles just fine, but when I attempt to execute the program, I get the following error (ics 21 is the folder with all my files, Hello is the program):
C:\ics 21>java Hello
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Hello
Source code for the highly complex and mind boggling "Hello World!" program I'm attempting to run:
public class Hello
public static void main(String[] args)
System.out.println("Hello world!");
My PATH is setup just fine trust me, and my CLASSPATH ain't too shabby either. Like I said, everything compiles fine, it just doesn't run. Any help would be greatly appreciated!The Classpath setting is a list of directories in which the javac compiler and JVM search to find classes. That's why your error is almost certainly a Classpath problem. Your class Hello is in a file name Hello.class. The directory that holds Hello.class must be in your Classpath. One way to achieve this is to include . (the current directory) in your Classpath and CD to the directory where Hello.class is.

AllenHi Allen,
Even I am facing the same problem. Did you received any reply from anyone? or Did you found any solution for the same? I am using WebLogic Server 8.1 SP5
If someone from BEA team helps as this being a reported problem.

Hi,
system i am using for Oracle SOA is :
Windows 64 Bit
i5 Processor
6 GB RAM
29 GB on C Drive is already free after installation of all SOA related products.
I have installed wlserver_10.3 for SOA 11g Development purpose and followed exact installation sequence and procedure as mention in oracle documentation
i created domain also and every thing look correct but after installation procedure there are "Additional actions required just after every thing installed" :
setting memory limit
starting weblogic server (Admin Server)
starting weblogic managed server
and so on
now Problem is when i execute C:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\soa_div_domain\bin startWebLogic.cmd
as mention in oracle documentation i am getting following error message : (i have only included last error lines instead of complete console log)
oConsole= -Dweblogic.ext.dirs=C:\Oracle\MIDDLE~1\patch_wls1036\profiles\default\
sysext_manifest_classpath;C:\Oracle\MIDDLE~1\patch_oepe180\profiles\default\syse

Now to resolve this what i already tried are :
I change JAVA_HOME and PATH to jdk6 which came with web logic installer
Location is at :
JAVA_HOME : C:\Oracle\Middleware\jdk160_29
PATH : C:\Oracle\Middleware\jdk160_29\bin
The above dose not include any space between path
I ran the startWebLogic.cmd and got same error
After that I also added
CLASSPATH : C:\Oracle\Middleware\jdk160_29\lib\tool.jar;C:\Oracle\Middleware\wlserver_10.3\server\lib\weblogic.jar;C:\Oracle\Middleware\jdk160_29\bin
WL_HOME: C:\Oracle\Middleware\wlserver_10.3
I ran the startWebLogic.cmd and got same error
I also used earlier path which I used with eclipse when I was working on other java development.
JAVA_HOME : C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.7.0_21
PATH : C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.7.0_21\bin
I ran the startWebLogic.cmd and got same error
Then I also gave PATH: C:\Oracle\Middleware\wlserver_10.3\server\lib (including the existing one using ; )
I ran the startWebLogic.cmd and got same error
Now may be there is a file called setSOADomainEnv.cmd in
< C:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\soa_div_domain\bin\ setSOADomainEnv.cmd>
That include some values for memory set :
set JAVA_OPTIONS=%JAVA_OPTIONS%
set DEFAULT_MEM_ARGS=-Xms512m –Xmx512m
set PORT_MEM_ARGS=-Xms512m –Xmx768m
if "%JAVA_VENDOR%" == "Oracle" goto OracleJVM
set DEFAULT_MEM_ARGS=%DEFAULT_MEM_ARGS% -XX:PermSize=128m -XX:MaxPermSize=768m
set PORT_MEM_ARGS=%PORT_MEM_ARGS% -XX:PermSize=256m -XX:MaxPermSize=768m
now as I change the red highlighted value to 512 value because I have less memory resource and I checked in installation documentation to change the above red highlighted value to 512 original is 1024 which is too high and it was crating problem and showing memory space problem so I change it to 512 and now I am not getting that memory space problem error but may be the above error is related with change value in setSOADomainEnv.cmd file or not
Following are my domain, weblogic and soa home directory path and all these path are exactly what it suppose to be according to Oracle Installation Documentation:
WebLogic :
C:\Oracle\Middleware\wlserver_10.3
C:\Oracle\Middleware\coherence_3.7
C:\Oracle\Middleware\oepe_11.1.1.8.0
SOA Oracle Home Directory :
C:\Oracle\Middleware\Oracle_SOA1
OSB Home Location :
C:\Oracle\Middleware\Oracle_OSB1
Domain name : soa_div_domain
Domain Location : C:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains
Application Location : C:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\applications
Domain Location: C:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\soa_div_domain
form here i am trying to start weblogic : C:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\soa_div_domain\bin\startWebLogic.cmd
Please tell me any body want more details.
Thanks.I think you are missing a character '-'
USER_MEM_ARGS="Xms512m -Xmx512m -XX:MaxPermSize=128m"Add this character like follows
"-Xms512m -Xmx512m -XX:MaxPermSize=128m" -

regards,I am having the same issues as koloo, I am willing to provide any other debugging information that you may need.
I am running Windows 7, 64 bit, 8gigs
Jdeveloper 11.1.1.2.0 the studio edition with embedded jdk
I can start the integrated appserver outside of jdev using the cmd script that is supplied but it fails to run if I kick it off from inside of jdeveloper.

Sun Java Tutorials: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError:
Hi,
I have recently started with java and been running through the Tutorials.
Here is my computer setup:
Windows EXP Pro
J2SE and NetBeans IDE Bundle NB 4.1 / J2SE 5.0 Update 3 FCS
Firefox 1.0.4 (java/javascript enabled)
Eclpise 3.1.0
I have been encountering the following problem quite often with those tutorials:
Some of those just wont work on my browser eg. http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/2d/display/ShapeMover.html
Java console gives following errors:
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: SMCanvas
at java.lang.Class.getDeclaredConstructors0(Native Method)
at java.lang.Class.privateGetDeclaredConstructors(Unknown Source)
at java.lang.Class.getConstructor0(Unknown Source)
at java.lang.Class.newInstance0(Unknown Source)
at java.lang.Class.newInstance(Unknown Source)
at sun.applet.AppletPanel.createApplet(Unknown Source)
at sun.plugin.AppletViewer.createApplet(Unknown Source)
at sun.applet.AppletPanel.runLoader(Unknown Source)
at sun.applet.AppletPanel.run(Unknown Source)
at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)
However some of them work just fine. eg.
http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/2d/images/BufferedShapeMover.html
If I download the code for them and compile using the Eclipse3.1.0, everything works just fine.
Can this be a problem with the classpath variable? I honestly don't understand anything about using that, but since some of those work and some don't, I don't believe it is a problem with classpaths (but what do I know...).
So, if you have any advise to give I'd be grateful for it.So, if you have any advise to give I'd be grateful for it.The problem is not yours or your classpath (as the prior replies indicate.)
It's caused by erroneous, missing or mislocated files at the Java Tutorial website.
The Tutorial html file that's executed when you click the link in the page specifies the location of the applet files - typically in a subdirectory. The class file or some other file can't be found, causing the error.
This has been a continuing problem with the Tutorial, apparently due to the updating that goes on. If you wish to let the Tutorial maintainers, know about the error, there's a link on the Tutorial's main page.
