Wireless is slow since last update sometimes non responding

Hello;
I don't know what the last update was for leopard but, since I've done the restart from the update my wireless on my 13"macbook is slow and sometimes time out. I have windows xp on it as well and the wireless is fine! Anyone else having problems? I've added opendns to network preferences but no change. It seems to work moderate if I move to a central location of my home I've done nothing to my wireless network setup and where my mac normally sits is about 20 feet from this centralized location. I have full signal at both connections is there a way of uninstalling the last update?

I did exactly what he wrote and also changed my router's broadcast to a higher number and I'm getting fast connection now download speed up to 8000kbps and upload 2000kbps
anyone else having this issue please do what the url says pretty easy but try this b 4 u think it is your airport card.

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
Then try Safari.

Beach Ball, Safari Slow since last update.

Ever since the last update, Safari has been acting crazy. Even in the process of writing this question I had to stop for the "beach ball of death" to stop spinning. I checked "resources" and found that Safari Web Content was 16%. So I closed all but this tab and it seemed to help. I also have had to restart Safari on occasions by force quiting.
Here are the problems I see with Safari:
Half loaded pages or incomplete loaded pages
Curser freeze when computer is accessing the dictionary when I'm blogging
Very slow loading pages. I checked my download speeds with Speedtest and I have 10mps down and 2mps up, no problem there.
It also seems the MBA is very slow compared to what it was before the last update. Applications load slowly and the beach ball seems to come out more often since the update. I hardly ever saw the beach ball before the last update. I stopped having more applications open at the same time so as to not have the CPU over burdened and that doesn't seem to help. I have the maximum RAM for my 2011 MBA.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up guest users” (without the quotes) in the search box. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, or by a peripheral device.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Shut down your computer, wait 30 seconds, and then hold down the shift key while pressing the power button.
When you see the gray Apple logo, release the shift key.
If you are prompted to log in, type your password, and then hold down the shift key again as you click Log in.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

Adobe Story ULTRA slow since last update

Hi, folks,
the title says it all. Since the last update i can bearly write. Story need up to 8 seconds to write my stuff "after" my fingers leave the keyboard. Even setting the Cursor on any part of my script needs 2 seconds. Its just driving me crazy and I cant work like that.
I'm usng a Core i7 Sandy Bridge, 16gig RAM, SSD, and a 460GTX.

Ditto on the slowness. Lag in typing. As soon as I start Story at all, it slams one of my CPU cores (in Task manager one core is constantly maxed out) and stays that way the whole time I use it. Not tracking changes, not showing outline, no production revisions, short script, long script, no script just looking at the "projects" view and still it's slamming the processor. It sucks cause cause on top of having annoying lag as I type, my writing laptop then spins the fan up to full and the battery life sucks, which is exactly NOT what I want out of my writing machine.
Any thoughts?

Safari almost unusably slow since last update

a few sites are almost ok but most are ridiculously slow. I have to keep reloading the page to view it and sometimes that doesn't even work. I thought it was my DSL but tried Firefox and that's fine.

Try :
Clearing Safari Cache: Safari -> Empty Cache
Clear Cookies: Safari -> Preferences -> Security - > show cookies
You can also Reset Safari: Safari -> Reset Safari (this will remove everything and reset)
If you are also having problems with Java sites, you can clear the Java cache. I don't have a machine in front of me running 10.3.x but I think this is the same... In Finder, open Applications -> Utilities -> Java
In 10.4.x there are two Apps, (you may have one or both): "Java 1.4.2 Plugin Settings.app" and "Java 1.3.1 Plugin Settings.app" .
Quit Safari, and Run each one. In Java 1.4.2 you should see a "Cache" tab and or a "Clear" button, in Java 1.3.1 you will see a Cache tab and a "Clear JAR Cache button. Once you clear the Java Caches, open Safari and see if that helps.
An alternate method is to trash the Java cache directory itself - located in:
~/Library/Caches/Java Applets/cache

Working here just fine. Try reinstalling:
Reinstalling Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

Time since last update

Hi
I regularly update my website sometimes once a day sometimes several times. I would to place a script or something on the page that places a "mins/hours/days" since last update. Similar to post columns on forums. I have looked through Dreamweaver exchange but cannot find anything (or have i missed it)

Most likely you will require PHP and such to do that. JavaScript as such cannot list files and their properties etc.. File system access goes against its security model.

Address Book repetitive crashes since last updates ?

I do apologize for the length of this post but I don't know how to shorten it without removing some details useful to understand the problem encountered.
My sister has got an intel iMac with Tiger 10.4.10 and since last updates (10.4.9 and/or 10.4.10) she cannot use AB more than some seconds. It crashes consistently everytime it is open, even if no other action is done. There are also problems with iChat, iCal, Safari and Mail (but less than with AB).
When I visited her recently, I had a look to the console (even though I'm far from being an expert myself but I tried to find a track before asking here).
I noticed that for both crashes (Safari and AB), there was this mention :

because of the "+not proper UTF8+" I tried to change it in AB preferences/vCard/encodage in "+proper UTF8+" and because of "+Old-style plist parser: error Unexpected character+" I tried to check and validate fonts of Fontbook. Unsuccessfully.
Back home, I searched on the web and read somewhere that there could be a problem with the "catalog" that could only be repaired by DiskUtility from the install disk. That was done today but the "*hard disk seems to be OK*" and AB crashed as usual when open.
there were two crash reports, one for AB and one for ABsync (? curious since she has no .mac account and does not sync her mobile phone).
The AB crashlog(1) finishes so :

and finally when I asked her for a screenshot of her ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook, I was surprised (comparing with my folder) to find she has three ABPerson.skIndexInverted files (I have only one) the second file is ABPerson.skIndexInverted.218 and the third ABPerson.skIndexInverted.286.
I suppose two are toomuch but which ones have to be delete ...
Sorry for this (too) long post and hope the light will come from some reader better educated in hard and softwares than us.

After fixing the filesystem issues, which you say you’ve already done, try re-creating the Address Book files that may have become corrupt, one at a time, as follows — or restore them from a backup if you have one:
1. Quit Address Book, Mail, and any other applications that might use Address Book for something. Or just quit all applications to be on the safe side.
2. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook/. Make a backup copy of this folder, e.g. by dragging it to the Desktop while holding the Option (Alt) key down. This is where all your contacts are stored.
3. Go to ~/Library/Preferences/. Move com.apple.AddressBook.plist and com.apple.AddressBook.abd.plist (if it exists) out of there (e.g. to the Desktop). Check whether the problem is fixed.
4. If Address Book keeps crashing, go to ~/Library/Caches/ and move the Address Book and com.apple.AddressBook folders to the Trash (there is no need to empty the Trash yet). Check whether the problem is fixed.
5. If Address Book keeps crashing, go to ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook/ and trash any ABPerson.skIndex files you may see there. Check whether the problem is fixed.
6. If Address Book keeps crashing, try again trashing both AddressBook.data and any ABPerson.skIndex files that may have been re-created, then rename AddressBook.data.previous to AddressBook.data.
7. If Address Book keeps crashing, try moving the entire AddressBook folder out of ~/Library/Application Support/.
The above procedure may introduce synchronization issues if you use .Mac or iSync to synchronize your Address Book with other computers or devices, so be sure to back up your Address Book data now if the problem is fixed.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder. You can easily locate any of the folders referred to in this post by copying the folder path here, doing Go > Go to Folder in the Finder, and pasting the folder path there.

Unable to check mark whole playlists to play since last update. ONly allows me to check one at a time. How do I fix?

While in MY MUSIC on itunes, all my music is unchecked. I can not check whole playlists by using the top checkmark to select all. I went to all my playlists, same thing. I can only press them ONE at a time, which will take about a day to check all of them.

Since last update (today) I get invalid password when trying to use back to my MAC, password works everywhere else

I was finally able to log in through my system preferences after about three or four hours. I ran a disk utility to repair permissions and restarted and it seemed to work ok.

IMAC mirroring is not working with my IMAC and Apple TV since last update

Hi friends,
since last update I am facing problems with my IMAC and airplay via apple tv to my HD TV screen. It is not working. Only audio but not video. I believe it has something to do with IMAC mirroring, which is not possible to select only expanded desktop. Airply on my TV is working with my IPAD, so it should be a problem with my IMAC only.
Did someone of You make the same experience or know what to do?

That happened because you synce'd your phone to a new computer, the phone can only be synce'd with one library. You can get all your songs back if they were puchased in itunes. Go to purchased in itunes store and download is at the bottom of the page.

Scroll bar is not working since last updates

It came to my attention there a new program working with itune since last update named Apsdaemon.exe its been using 99% of my processor when its active any idea why so much and will it be fix eventually? And why is it so Heavy consuming ?

Now when that aplication or extention from Itune is working my computor froze to a huge alt. I play video games online and love listening to my music with itune playing in the background and normally was able to have firefox open and a program called ventrillo all working at the same time and now i can barelly have itune and play a game. As soon it start been choppy i just control alt delete wait 5 minute to close down apsdaemon.exe when i'm capable most of the time i have to restart my computor. And why is it so Heavy consuming on the process its memory utility is under the 100ko i believe so why 99% of my processus is been use ?
a good exemple i could give is itune.exe working it shows process 02% for 123 000ko that is light and perfect.

Import running slow since last days.

I have a issue where Oracle 9i database import is running very slow since last couple of days. The process used to be completed in 5 hours every day. But since last two days it is taking 10 to 15 hours to complete. I have checked the data-file size, and export dump-file sizes are consistent with what it used to be. There are no any significant changes in the database size no errors reported in the import and alert log files. Please help me Identify and resolve the real cause of this performance degrade.
