Wireless SSID with Certificate
Dear All,
I have a wireless network with cisco 5508 WLC for corporate network ,Cisco WLC for guest network, ACS 4.2, and 200 accesspoints.
Corporate SSID authentication- WPA1 & 2 with Dot1X(Via ACS)
Guest SSID authentication- Webauth with ACS
I need to configure an SSID for scanners.
Is there any way to configure the scanners wireless authentication via ACS with a trusted certificate?

Customer has one certificate server(CA). We need to generate the certficate from that CA .
Our scanner expert will load the generated certficate into the scanner
My Scanner supports EAP-FAST,EAP-TLS, LEAP,PEAP,TTLS
So Can I go with LEAP for scanners?
Do you have any document or steps for completeing this task?
SSID config on WLC?
ACS 4.2 Config?
On PC side what config we need to do (If we are connecting a PC to the same SSID)?

802.1x wireless authentication with certificates
Hi.
I have configured and working 802.1x authentication with certificates for Wired connections. with no problem.
when i try to authenticate the same machine with 802.1x and certificates , on Wirelss, the ACS rejects it with:
"12520 EAP-TLS failed SSL/TLS handshake because the client rejected the ACS local-certificate."
the ACS is the same, the certificate the same, and the root ca is the same.
what's hapenning????

WIreless solution with WDS/Active Directory/mutiple ssid
I'm in a project where the mail goal is to implement a wireless solution for our company.
I will try to explain our dimention.
We want two kinds of wireless solutions based on the same AP, secure and unsecure.
The unsecure is a "guest" net for Internet-access. We want a solution where the users have to contact our reseption to be given a username/password to access this network (same kind you find in airports, some hotels and so on). It has to be able to give a permanent access, access by the hour/day. Username/password can be random, but don't have to be.
The secure is a "work" net for our company computer services. We want the wireless network to be encrypted (a good standard) and the computer itself has to have some kind of certificate. We also want the user to authenticate itself using Microsoft Active Directory.
These two wireless networks should have their own SSID with different security levels. Both of them should support WDS.
Can somebody give me some information on which equipment we need, what kind of server services needes and so on.
The solution has to be robust, but of course the cost aspect is hanging over us as a ghost... ;-)

EirikGuest solution and secured wireless solution is very much possible with Cisco Unified wireless solution. The document available at http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk722/tk809/technologies_configuration_example09186a008070ba8f.shtml explains how to setup guest and internal WLAN in a network. This should help.

Connecting to Wireless AP with non-english SSID name
Hi everyone
I have a wireless AP with a non-english name ( The name is "IsolÈ coffee"), when I do scan for wireless network in Mac OS X it will not show this network and even if I use iStumbler it will show it but it will not able to connect to it
if I use any Windows PC/Linux it can connect to the wireless AP with no issue
is it possible in anyway to connect to this wireless AP (and NO I can't change the SSID name because I don't own it, it's a public AP)
ThanksThis post is a little old, i don't know if it's proper to add a reply. I just got the same problem here, and hope someone would work on it. The ssid is some chinese characters, and i don't have authority to change it. Same as what AhmadT mentionded, airport couldn't find anything, even if the ssid is typed in manually, it doesn't work.
The only workaround i could find is to use the other wifi card (USB ones), and have it driven in WindowsXp which is running in VMWARE Fusion. so that i could access the wifi-router and internet in the vm-machine. -
Accept Certificate when connecting to an SSID with WPA2-AES encryption.
When I try to Connect my Iphone to an SSID with WPA2-AES encryption,i need to accept the certificate and gets authenticated.When i switchover to different SSID and reconnect again to the same WPA2-AES SSID i do not get the Certificate accept page.
When i click on the Forget Network and deisconnect from the SSID and re-connect again,i will be prompted to acept the certificate.Is this a normal behavior in Iphone.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

with the config i have i seem to be able to login using either tkip or aes, but i don't think i have got mixed mode configured on the AP so it should only accept WPA2-AES encryption but it also accepts TKIP making me believe something is configured incorrectly.
should i change anything in the config on the AP to only allow WPA2-AES encryption?

I have a Problem with Romming Between SSIDs withing the same WLC but with deferent VLAN . the WLC are providing the HQ and one of the Branches the Wireless services .
Am using all the available 9 SSIDs at the HQ , and am using only 4 of it at the Brnche.
The problem that i have are happening only at the Branch office as i cant room between the SSIDs within Diferent VLANs but i can do it with the one that pointing to the same VLAN. Once the client ( Laptop/Phone ) connected to one of the SSIDs. it imposiible to have him connected to the other ones with Different VLAN. meanwhile, It says its connected to the other SSID but its not getting IP from that pool.
here is the Show Run-Config from my WLC .. and the Problem happening between the SSID AMOBILE and ASTAFF. i have the Debug while am switching between the SSIDs if needed .

Tx Power Level 4 ..........Well you need to understand the behavior of h-reap or what it's called now, FlexConnect. In this mode, the clients are still remembers on the WLC until the session timer/idle timer expires. So switching between SSID's in h-reap will not be the same when switching when the AP's are in local mode.
Take a look at the client when connected in FlexConnect in the WLC GUI monitor tab. Thus will show you what ssid and vlan the client is on. Now switch to a different ssid and compare this. It's probably the same because the client has not timed out. Now go back to the other ssid and look again. Now on the WLC, remove or delete the client and then switch to the other ssid at the same time. Or switch SSID's and then remove the client. The client will join the new ssid and in the monitor tab, you should see the info.
There is no need to have clients have multiple SSID's unless your testing. Devices should only have one ssid profile configured to eliminate any connectivity issues from the device wanting to switch SSID's.

Unable to access wireless connection with linksys rooter WRT54GS
Hi,
I just installed a wireless rooter Linksys WRT54GS on my connection, The problem I have is being able to access it with my wireless on my laptop.
I kept getting a message stating "connection unindentified" "access limited". I've done most of what is already suggested on your forum such has turning the power off of my rooter, my modem and such and still nothing. I'm able to access the wireless with my girlfriend Mac Notebook, my playstation 3 and my desktop computer which uses Windows X. First I thought that it my be a problem with my security but even when the connection is unprotected I still get that error. I try to disable the IpV6but that didn'tdo anything either.
My laptop is a Toshiba Qosmio X300 PQX32C-033019 with Vista and my rooter is a Linksys WRT54GS vers. 6

Leave username blank & in password use admin in lower case...
For Wireless Settings, please do the following : -
Click on the Wireless tab
- Here select manual configuration...Wireless Network mode should be mixed...
- Provide a unique name in the Wireless Network Name (SSID) box in order to differentiate your network from your neighbours network...
- Set the Radio Band to Standard-20MHz and change the Standard channel to 11-2.462GHz...Wireless SSID broadcast should be Enabled and then click on Save Settings...
Please make a note of Wireless Network Name (SSID) as this is the Network Identifier...
For Wireless Security : -
Click on the Sub tab under Wireless > Wireless Security...
Change the Wireless security mode to WEP, Encryption should be 64 bit.Leave the passphrase blank, don't type in anything...
Under WEP Key 1 type in any 10 numbers please(numbers only and no letters eg: your 10 digit phone number) and click on save settings...
Please make a note of WEP Key 1 as this is the Security Key for the Wireless Network...
Click on Advanced Wireless Settings
Change the Beacon Interval to 75 >>Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304, Change the RTS Threshold to 2304 >>Click on "Save Settings"...
On your Vista Laptop, first disable the Wireless Network Connection and restart the Laptop, then Enable the Wireless Connection...
Then Click on Start >> Control Panel >> Network and Sharing Center >> Manage Wireless Network and click on Add, select Manually Create a Network Profile and click Next, enter your Network SSID/Network Name, select WEP for Security type and enter your 10 digit Network Key and click on Next, it should say "Successfully Connected to ____" close all the Windows and restart the Laptop, now see if you can connect to Internet Wirelessly... -
I recently installed a Netgear Wireless router for improved reception, but now my macbook loses connection through Airport after periods of inactivity. We have another older Macbook in the house, and it never loses connection. I never had this problem with the previous Linksys router, just limited range. Any ideas what is causing this? It's frustrating to have to frequently shout down and re-boot. That so far is the only way I can re-connect.

Have a wireless problem with a router.
ive cloned the mac address. ive set the wep up, and generated the keys(which ive done nothing with these except for writing them done on a paper). ive verified in the status screen that the mac of the router matches the mac of the computer. the other two screens matches the mac of the router, the wireless and the local network. ive set the ssid to match the computer's .when ive saved all this information, enabled the wireless lan on the laptop, turn both the router and cable modem to "reset or refresh the settings", it sees that their is a wireless account with the ssid matching, when i click to connect, it never connects, never asks for a network key, nothing! just stalls out! i havent checked to see if the ip on the wireless part on the router matches the computer, i have it set to autodetect on the basic setup. anybody got any ideas? should i rename the router? should i change the mac to match the mac of the wireless part in the laptop? it can determine what security settings it has, when i shut off the wep off, it shows that there isnt a security on it, and when wep is put back on, it shows that there is a secured. what does the wpa shared key mean, does thatmean the network key is shared between the router and the computer? and when i clicked to setup a wireless network with windows xp, it printed me some information out about the system, and said that i needed to add this to the router, and one of the things was a network key, should i add the pc's generated key into the of the slots in the router? and how would i change the pc's network key?
this is someone's else system that im trying to get working for them, therefore i have no clue what the number of the router is called.

go to start >> control panel >> network connection >> right click on wireless network connection >> properties >> click on wireless networks tab >> delete the preferred networks list and check whether you can view the network now....if yes , try connecting to it..it should ask you for a network key...
if still not asking for the network key , try changing the router's wireless network name ( ssid ) ..

Using multiple wireless networks with Single sign on?
The university that I currently work for has switched from one wireless SSID to 2 separate SSIDs that separate the student users from the faculty/staff users. At this time only the Faculty Staff can log into STAFF and students can only log into STUDENT...
I have a few laptop carts that were setup for student use and have single sign on configured for the STUDENT wireless connection. The laptops are on the university's domain so that students have access to the home drives.
We run into problems when Faculty try to use a laptop to teach a class. They are unable to log in because their credentials are not authorized for the STUDENT wireless network.
So...Is it possible to setup 2 wireless profiles (STUDENT and STAFF) with single sign on and give the user an option to choose from?Hi,

Can the RV180W have multiple SSIDs with different security configurations?
I am trying to configure the RV180W with a guest network and regular wireless network. The regular wireless network is just a bridge to the wired network, using WPA2-Pers for authentication. I built and enabled another wireless SSID, using a different VLAN and no authentication. I can get both SSIDs to function at the same time if I turn off security. Once I turn on Security, the regular one no longer functions.

Do note that you need to assign multiple VLAN per SSID. Check the manual it is there :D

WLC 5760 multiple SSIDs with MAC filtering
Dear All,
I am implementing a wireless network with 5760 WLCs. The client requires a few SSIDs with MAC-based authentication. So I created different MAC filters using the commands "aaa authorization network MAC_FILTER01 local", "aaa authorization network MAC_FILTER02 local" etc
These filters are bound to different SSIDs using the commands "mac-filtering MAC_FILTER01" "mac-filtering MAC_FILTER02" etc. and users are added to their required MAC filters using the commands "username <mac-address> mac aaa attribute list MAC_FILTER01", "username <mac-address> mac aaa attribute list MAC_FILTER02" etc.
Now I am facing a serious issue - users belonging to any one MAC filter can connect to the all SSIDs. It seems like the MAC addresses added to the controller under different filter names are going to a common database, thereby providing access to users to all SSIDs irrespective of their MAC filter.
Is it a limitation of local database of 5760? Has anyone faced the same issue? How can I implement independent MAC filters bound to different SSIDs?

Multiple SSIDs with WDS, custom DHCP addresses, & Web interface
I just bought an Aiport Extreme Base station along with an Aiport Express. So far, everything is great, but I had a few of things I would like configure a certain way, and I am having a little problem.
Just to let you know, I am using the base station as the main router/firewall (with my cable modem). I am using the express basically as a wireless bridge (via WDS).
The way Apple takes care of things with WDS, is by assiging the same SSID to both the base station and express for seamless roaming. However, I would like them both to have their own SSID. I cannot seem to get this working, and I know that some other vendors allow this (Buffalo, Linksys).
The other issue is regarding DHCP on the LAN side. I want to for example hand out IP addresses 192.168.2.50-60 to my internal clients, and I want the base station to have an address of 192.168.2.1 and the express to have 192.168.2.5. It seems this also I am having problems with. It seems like the base station is very rigid on what options I have in this regard.
Lastly, I wondered if there is any other way to administer these guys (like a web browser). Sometimes I need to remotely make changes to the router, and don’t really want to install another app just for this purpose (especially at work, or some other remote location).

I don't know why you'd want that but if you are
extending the range of your wireless network with WDS
it isn't possible with Airports.

You can set the DHCP range and then assign static
IP's to anything that conforms to that network as
long as it won't conflict with something
automatically assigned by DHCP. As a router NAT must
be enabled so if you want a unique range of numbers
only DHCP is used which won't work in your case.
In other words set the range at 192.168.1.1 and that
is the address of the base station. That can be used
for the statically IP'd device's router and DNS
entries as well like this:
Device 1 IP 192.168.1.101
Device 1 subnet 255.255.255.0
Device 1 router 192.168.1.1
Device 1 DNS 192.168.1.1
Device 2 IP 192.168.1.102
Device 2 subnet 255.255.255.0
Device 2 router 192.168.1.1

etc...
Lastly, I wondered if there is any other way to

Not that I'm aware of. Airport Admin Utility is all
there is. I have seen a java utility but it wasn't
very friendly.

Multiple SSIDS with VLAN ACL seperation
Hi,
I have bought a 887W and I'm new to wireless on a router, I need advice about seperating multiple SSIDs with access list.
I have configured 2 SSIDs one for 'trusted' clients and one for 'guest' clients. I want to prevent the 'guest' SSID obtaining access to the other vlan/SSID using an ACL.
Each SSID is associated with a BVI, the BVI has the IP address, then it's linked to a seperated VLAN interface, then each VLAN.

DaveSolved my issue, I simply attached the ACLs to the BVI interfaces. Fairly obvious, but I read a Cisco webpage that said this could not be done, although this may have been a temporary bug that has been fixed.

Wireless SSID @ Multiple Sites
Not sure where to post this , but here goes.
I have 8 sites all running Motorola Wireless Controllers with multipe SSID's.
I have recently decided to move to the Cisco 2504 WLC since our Motorola devices were out of warrnaty and support.
The issue I am experiencing is when I configure my WLC 2504 with the identicle SSID parameters\settings as my Motorola
devices the users are unable to connect. They have to manually remove the existing wireless profile and re-create it.
This will be a bit of a pain especially with 700 users.
Any ideas if such a feature can enable this "talk nice" piece.
