Withholding Tax-Down Payment

Hi
I am passing a downpayment to a vendor who is subject to withholding tax.  I have updated the vendor master with necessary tax codes applicable to invoice and payment.  However, while doing the downpayment, after entering the business place and section code, the withholding tax information of the vendor is not getting popped up for selection and applying.  What could be the reason ?
Regards

Thank you so much, now is working.
By the way, do you know how i have to set the witholding in the sales side.
Because i have customers that have operartions with different kind of withholding.
In other words sometimes one customer apply x kind of withholding and other y withholding, depends of the kind of sales.
But i dont know where set it up becuase i set in the master customer, but always that i submit a invoice is with that witholding and i dont know how to change it according to the kind of the operation.
Thank you in advance.

  • WH Tax - Down payment clearing against invoice

    Dear Experts,
This is regarding the down payment clearing against invoice where WH tax is involved in Down payment as well as in Vendor Invoice. we also deduct Work Contract Tax Z1 on vendor invoice.
the process is as follows :
Step 1 - Down payment to Vendor through TC # F-48
    Entry : Vendor A/c Dr 2200.00
    To Bank 2178
    To TDS 22.00 @ 1%
Step 2 - Vendor Invoice Booking through TC # FB60
    Entry : Expenses Dr 4400.00
    To Vendor 4180
    To TDS 44.00 @ 1%
    To WCT 176.00 @ 1%
Clearing down payment against the invoice posted using FB60.
Step 3 - Down payment Clearing through TC # F-54
    Entry : Vendor Dr 1980.00
    To Vendor 2200.00
    To TDS 44.00
    To WCT 176
But in this process, it clearing WCT tax code also which i dont want in this. And if i adjust amount and do not clear whole amount available amount then after simulating it showing difference coming and debit and credit amount of line items.
But if i dont include WCT tax code in whole process then its working fine no problem coming in it, but want it also to include in clearing process of down payment against invoice.
    Best Regards

    Dear,
i am following the SAP standard process for deducting TDS on down payment and invoices.
First i deduct the TDS on down payment and Then again full TDS amount on invoice not adjusted it in WHT tab in base amount after adjusting Advance payment.
in next process f-54 i cleared the advance payment against invoice so it reverse the invoice TDS amount to adjust the tds as per advance payment TDS.
In img i confiured the WHT for payment posting as by selecting "Central inv. prop." option in Central invoice option.

  • Withholding Tax on payment using T.Code F-02

    Hi all
I am trying to make an On Account payment to the Vendor using T.Code F-02. However, when I use the Posting Key 25, the system does not deduct the TDS on payment. Please lemme know if this is the standard system behaviour or am I going wrong somewhere?
    Cheers
    Hrishi

    Hi,
When u making a advance payment to vendor the accounting entry is
                 Advance payment Dr
                    To: Vendor
You are using the posting key 25 which means vendor debit. it is not meant for down payment only for outgoing payment.
Against which kind of service you are making payment because all tax codes having minimum amount also. please see that once also.
In the vendor master record are choose liabile check box. Just run once RTWT0010
Hope this is clear, If yes assign points

  • Define Withholding Tax Type for Payment Posting

Hey Guys, I'm configuring Withholding Tax for a company. I know the purpose for defining the withholding tax type for invoice posting, but do understand where is the Withholding tax type for payment posting used? Is it used for advance(down) payment or something else?
    Thanks,

    Hi ,
In some countries there is requirement that you need to deducted Withholding tax either at time of Invoice or payment which ever is ealier . so if you get Invoice first then you deduct the Withholding tax on Invoice and define the tax type and assign to company . but if you make paymnet first which we called advance or down payment then we configure Withholding tax on payment .
If a vendor is liable for withholding tax on invoice it may be liable for payment as well if you think you may pay some advances .
Please let me know if you need more information

  • Withholding Tax Type for Payment Posting - Customer Accumulation -

We are using the Withholding Tax Type for Payment Posting for customer with the accumulation per month and checking the minimum/maximum withholding tax base amount to calculate the tax.
When we run the F110 transaction (Automatic Payment) the system creates a BIll of Exchange as Noted items and keep the accounting document created from the SD opened. After the customer pay the bill, the bank send a file informing the payment, then we clearing the accounting document.
But the system updated the WITH_ITEM Table and filled the fields AUGBL(Clearing Document) and AUGDT (Clearing Date) with the number and date of the BIll of Exchange that was created during the F110 running.
I am confused about this situation because according the Withholding Tax Type for Payment Posting, the system only could updated the table  WITH_ITEM  with an accounting document. Noted items are not an accounting document.
I would like to konw if the system is working properly, or can have something wrong in our configuracion?
    Thanks and regards

  • Extended Withholding Tax - Minimum Amount

    Dear SAP Expert,
In our setup we have extended withholding tax incoming payment for outgoing invoices.
The scenario is if invoice base amount is less than 300 EGP (local curreny) then withholding tax information should not capture invoice document.
I setup minimum based amount on withholding tax type and withholding tax codes level but still when user post outgoing invoices WHT information is captured in FI document.
Because of above issue automatic clearing (F.13) is not happening and we are getting error message like "Items with withholding tax code for customer subject to withholding tax"

  • Document splitting & withholding tax

    Hi
Could you please help me out on the following. i have activated document splitting and am producing balance sheet per profit centre. i have also activated extended withholding tax at payment. now the getting the error message for the automatic payment program that balance field profit centre in item 2 is not filled. how do i get the gl for withholding tax to inherit the profit centre the same way that the gl outgoing payments account is inheriting?
i dont want the withholding tax line item to have the default profit centre but the diiferent profit centres of the invoice line items being paid.
    thanks
    Star

    Dear Star ,
It souds like the error in customizing.
The document type used in F110 is assigned to business tran. 1000 / variant 0001. Make sure that you have item category 05200 (WHtax) included as "item categories to be edited" and include item category 03000, 04000 etc.. as "base item categories" for item cat. 05200.
If this setting is done and still getting GLT2201 error, then please create a customer message!
    Kind regards, Kyoko

  • Withhold taxes not withheld - F110 Program

    Hi SCN members,
When the users performed the F110 program and generated the txt file to the bank (That is who print the bank slip.), the bank noticed that the gross amount was printed in the bank slip without subtract the taxes.
These documents were generated from billing process VF04.
Apparently, the issue is in the billing documents and not in F110 process because with the user, we have reversed a payment of one document and we have tried to pay it on F110. The result was the same.
All taxes are not been subtract and not only the taxes withheld in F110. The IRRF tax is withheld in billing process and also is not been subtract.
I’ve never seen something like that. Have you seen?
    Thanks so much!

  • Urgent-Withholding Tax

    Hi
    I updated bank challan
    by mistakenly .
    i posted wrong number
    how can change number
other can any one tell me
    how to cancel bank challan

    Hello
I don't think there is an option to delete. You could only cancel the challan. If the posting period is closed, you can still cancel in the current period, provided you choose the proper reason code for reversal / cancellation.
    Please check this
From the SAP Easy Access screen, choose Accounting ® Financial Accounting ® Accounts Payable ® Withholding Tax ® India ® Extended Withholding Tax ® Remittance of Withholding Tax ® Cancel Remittance Challan or Accounting ® Financial Accounting ® Accounts Receivable ® Withholding Tax ® India ® Withholding Tax for Payments to Customers ® Remittance of Withholding Tax ® Cancel Remittance Challan.
Specify which accounting document you want to reverse. This is the accounting document that the system created when you created the remittance challan.
    Choose .
The system prompts you to specify what sort of reversal you want to make.
    Choose Resetting and Reverse.
Enter a reversal reason and choose .
The system displays two dialog boxes, one with the number of the document posted. After you have closed the dialog box, you go back one screen to display a list of the documents that you have reversed.
    Result
    The system:
    Cancels the remittance challan
Creates an accounting document to reverse the postings made when you create the remittance challan

  • Error in numbering of withholding tax certificate

    Its giving me this error....
please help asap....I will assign points.
Error in numbering of withholding tax certificate
    Message no. 7Q626
    Diagnosis
An error has occurred during withholding tax certificate numbering.
    Procedure
Check your Customizing settings for withholding tax certificate numbering
    Thnaks

Check SAP Note No. 127352.  Just in case if you cannot, here is what it says.
    Solution
    Check your Customizing settings:
In the IMG check the settings for
Financial Accounting -> Financial Accounting Global Settings -> ...:
    Settings for the company code:
... -> Company Code -> Activate extended withholding tax:
    1. Is the extended withholding tax activated for the company code?
(Indicator:  Extended withholding tax - yes )
    Caution!
If the extended withholding tax is not activated, you should not activate this under any circumstances in the current, productive system. Since the classical and the extended withholding tax functions are independent of each other and also the respective withholding tax data is kept in the database in different tables, there is a need for a separate change process (migration) for the migration from the classical to the extended withholding tax functions. The migration defines a mapping of the withholding tax data (Customizing data, master data and transaction data) of the old withholding tax functions on the data of the extended withholding tax function and creates this. However, no tool is made available by SAP that allows a return to the classical withholding tax functions.
Settings for the extended withholding tax functions:
    ... -> Withholding Tax -> Extended Withholding Tax -> ...:
    ... -> Calculation -> Withholding Tax Codes ->
           -> Define withholding tax codes
2.1 Is a percentage rate entered for the withholding tax codes?
2.2 If the checkbox Withholding tax formula is activated in the withholding tax code, a scaling must be defined under
... -> Calculation -> Withholding Tax Codes -> Define withholding tax formulas
... -> Company code -> Assign Withholding Tax Types to Company Codes
    3. Are the withholding tax types assigned to the company code?
3.1 Is the company code defined as withholding tax obligated from for withholding tax type? (Indicator: Withholding tax obligated from - yes).
3.2. Is the current callup point within the validity period for the obligation?
3.3 For withholding tax on the debit side: is company code defined as subject to withholding tax? (Customer data Subject to withholding tax - yes )
    ... -> Postings -> Accounts for withholding tax -> ...
4.1 An account must be defined both on the debit side and on the credit side for withholding tax to be paid over.
... -> Define accounts for Withholding Tax to be Paid Over
4.2 For withholding tax codes which are posted with 'Grossing up', an account must be defined for the 'Grossing up' offsetting entry.
... -> Define Accts for W/hold.Tax for "Gross.up" Offsetting Entry
4.3 For withholding tax on the debit side: If the withholding tax type (only for withholding tax during payment) allows self-withholding agent and the company code is authorized to self-withholding agent, an account must be defined for self-withheld withholding tax.
    ... -> Define Accounts for Self-Withholding Tax
4.4 For withholding tax codes which should be posted with offsetting entry, an account must be defined for offsetting entry.
... -> Define Accounts for Withholding Tax Offsetting Entry
Depending on the rules which are selected for the account determination of the above-mentioned accounts an account must be defined for every withholding tax type or for every combination withholding tax type/tax code. Furthermore, you can also control to debits/credits indicator.
Posting ->, ... Certificate numbering for withholding tax
    5. If for withholding tax type ( ...Calculation -> Withholding Tax Type) the option 'no certificate numbering' is not selected, you must carry out all corresponding settings.
Check the settings of the field status groups:
    6. The withholding tax for reconciliation and posting accounts must be set to as not suppressed (required or optional).
Check the settings of the vendor or customer master data:
    7. The withholding tax types and indicators must be defined as
    'liable'.
    8. The dialog box does not work if the current callup point is
within the exemption period and no collapsed withholding tax rate
was maintained or if this is equal zero.

  • Withholding Tax Calculation Error for Vendor Down Payment Clearing:Oct '09

    Hi,
We are trying to incorporate the new Withholding Tax Structure w.e.f. 01-Oct-09.
    There were 3 scenarios possible:
    a. Invoice = Down Payment
    b. Invoice < Down Payment
    c. Invoice > Down Payment
While 1 & 2 were taken care of effectively, the third scenario did not work as expected. The scenario is as follows:
    1. Down Payment (Date : 30/09/09)
    Amt : Rs. 40000/-;
    Withholding Tax @ 15% : Rs. 6000/- (40000 * 15%)
    Surcharge @ 10% : Rs. 600/- (6000 * 10%)
    Edu Cess @ 2% : Rs. 132 (Rs. 6600*2%)
    Higher Edu Cess @ 1% : Rs. 66 (Rs. 6600*2%)
    2. Invoice (Date : 02/09/09) - As per new TDS Rates
    Amt : Rs. 50000/-
    Withholding Tax @ 10% : Rs. 5000/- (50000 * 10%)
    Surcharge : NIL
    Edu Cess : NIL
    Higher Edu Cess : NIL
    3. DPC (Date : 02/09/09) - Reversal of TDS calculated in Down Payment (Step 1) above.
    Issue:
While making J1INCHLN, amount is adjusted as Rs. -1000/- (hence zero) not payable.
Also, the Surcharge, Edu Cess & Higher Edu Cess are also getting reversed in DPC.
As suggested by SAP Note No. 1372734 - Handling of downpayment clearing scenarios after budget '09, the scenario does not seem to work.
Actual payable should be worked out as under:
    Invoice : Rs. 50,000/-
    DP : Rs. 40,000/-
    Bal : Rs. 10,000/-
    TDS @ 10% : Rs. 1,000/-
All TDS Challans, Certificates & Returns must reflect Rs. 1000/- in the Challan.
    Require assistance.
    Regards,
    Kapil Tilwani

    Hi Kapil,
The following needs to be taken care of  -
The message controls settings as the note suggests must be set as W.
When entering the details the logic is Vendor Debit amount is Tax amount + 1
The Vendor credit line, the tax code has to be assigned with the advance amount (amount for which the challan has been created) as the tax base amount and the tax amount will be the extra liability that needs to be created.
    In your example -
The tax amount will be - 2000 ( the debit at the time of downpayment clearing should have been 4000 instead of 6000)
Tax base amount -  40000 (Challan for this amount has already been made at the time of downpayment made)
    The vendor Debit - 2001 (2000 + 1)
    The vendor credit - 1
Note - Tax amount and base amount has to be made manually in the withholding Tax tab for the credit entry.
    Please revert for any clarification.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Anit

  • Withholding Tax for Customer Down Payment F-29

    Dear all,
I have configured the withholding tax and it works fine for the AP: invoice, payment, advance payment.
However I encountered problem for AR side: customer down payment (F-29). During the payment there is a "withholding tax" button that once you click a pop-up window will appear to enable you enter the withholding tax data.
My problem is no withholding pop up window appear and no error message as well. Thus I am unable to enter the withholding tax data.
The customer has been assigned with withholding tax type and withholding tax code. I follow the follow documentation for the configuration steps and it works well on AP side.
    http://www.sapficoconsultant.com/Bonus/Extended%20Withholding%20tax%20configuration.pdf
Can you please kindly advise if there is any missing step need to be performed for withholding tax configuration for customer? How to solve the above issue?
thank you very much in advance.
    Dahlia

    Hi Umesh,
Thank you very much for your quick respond.
Yes, I forget to mentioned in my previous email, I have done the following in the customer master:
    1. Assigned withholding tax type and withholding tax code.
    2. Enter the validity date from and to.
    3. Check the withholding tax checkbox in customer master.
However the F-29 still do not have a withholding tax window pop-up.
Any other things that I need to do?
    Thanks a lot.

  • Withholding tax issue while doing Down payment Clearing - Help needed

    Hi,
    1. I have posted vendor downpayment  for 5000--> TDS was deducted here
    Bank Credit = 4500

    TDS Credit =500
    2. I have posted vendor invoice for 5000 --> TDS was calculated
    Material Debit = 5000
    Vendor Credit =4500
    TDS Credit =500
    3. Now i have transfer the down payment amount in F-54 (As per the above entry how much do i need to trasfer in this F-54 transaction???)
Note: How much amount do i need to transfer as per the above scenario in F-54? Kindly advise me
    4. For testing i have transferred 5000 down payment for the invoice 5000. But while doing F-44,system is not allowing me with differance amount. In F-44,system is not showing any withholding tax details. Kindly help me on this..
    Thanks
    KB

    Dear
TDS should have been deducted either at the time of Invoice posting (MIRO) or at the time of Advance Payment (F-48).  So you need to remove TDS code while doing  invoice or at the time of making advance payment in F-48.  If this is ensured there will not be any problem in clearing.
When inovoice is posted debit will be to GR/IR Account and not to Material Account.

  • Withholding Tax on Down payment through F-58

When we made the down payment having with withholding tax deduction
through F-58(FBZ4) against down payment request clearing, if we give
gross amount to the extent of Withholding tax showing as not assigned
amount, If we give net amount clearing is happened properly.
But if we use manual payment for down payment through F-48 against down
payment request clearing gross amount is working fine. Same should be
    applicable in case F-58(FBZ4) also.
for example we have created down payment request for Rs. 1,00,000/- and
Tax code assigned for the payment 2% (Rs 2,000/-), at he time of down
payment request clearing(F-58) if we give the amount 1,00,000/- we are
not able to clear and make the net amount paid. If we give Rs.98,000/- it
is working fine. But same logic not working in F-48.
is this program error or standard SAP logic is like that.

    Dear,
this is the SAP Standard System Design.
If You create the DP using F-58, You will have to insert the bank amount minus the WT amount (net).
If You create the DP using the transaction F-48, You can insert the total bank amount because pushing the button "Create DPs" the System will scorporate it, creating the WT line item.
The result in both the cases is the same:
    001 50        0000113100 Dte Bank (domestic)                  9.000,00-
    002 29A      0000100214 Vendor                                    10.000,00
    003 50        0000177000 Withholding tax                          1.000,00-
    I hope this helps.Mauri
