Withholding Tax Types and Withholding Tax Code
Good Afternoon SAP Guru's
I need some help with a very basic question. I need to configure WHT and EWHT for 1099 and 1042. I am in the US. Here is the configuration I completed so far which I hope is appropriate. Please tell me if it not.
SPRO for EWHT
Maintain Country
Define Reason for Exemption
*is this needed for 1099 not withholding?
Maintain Recipient Type
Define WHT keys
Check Recipient Types
*1042 only?
WHT type for invoice posting
*created I1 for WHT type for Invoice Posting
WHT type for payment posting
*created 42 for 1042
*created ST for 1099 State
*created FE for 1099 Federal
Define Rounding Rule for WHT
*is this necessary
Assign Condition Type to WHT type
*what is this for?
My big issue is that I am confused on Tax Type and Tax Code.
I believe it is required to have 3 tax types for invoice posting and 3 for payment posting? I have 3 scenarios each. They are as mentioned earlier
1099- not withholding
1099- withholding
1042- withholding
I haven't configured 3 tax types for invoice posting, only 1 at this time.
For tax code, I struggle with the tax code field because the field is only 2 positions and therefore, how do I differentiate the different codes listed on the 1099 and 1042 on here? There are 18 codes on a 1099 and 50 on a 1042. Any suggestions?
Do I need to enter 1099 codes twice because one is exempt and the other is withholding? Or is that the reason why I need to create a exemption reason code for WHT type?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

IN VENDER MASTER WHICH WHT TAX TYPE AND TAXCODE I WLL ASSIGN
Please tell me which tax type and tax code i will assign, ie; invoice or payment wht tax type.
Regards,
AmitHi Amit,
Assign the tax type and the tax code to the vendor master for the Invoice category.
For the Payment category, assign only the tax type and not the tax code.
In this case the user have to manually put the tax codes at the time of advance payment.

Thanks & regards,
Dharma.Im not sure but may be its because in the config. of 1099 Withholding tax we usually say that the with holding is to be posted only after payment of the open items.
So, lets try this. Look at if the documents which are showing withhld tax in FBL1N if they are paid or not.
this would give us some help or hopefully the answer..

In extended WHT, why can have the same tax type with several tax code? I know that they are having different tax deducted percentage but I still do not sure why need to have tax code assigned to tax type.
Can anyone give advice?

Net tax base and gross tax base is not defined in FB70
Dear SAP Gurus,
I am booking the customer invoice directly through FB70. While booking the same I am using the tax code A0 (Zero Output Tax) Tax Code column as the account is mandatory for Ta Code. But when I post the transaction system gives the following error.
Net tax base and gross tax base is not defined
Message no. F5341
Diagnosis
For the company code, it was specified that the net value (amount minus cash discount) is the tax basis and the gross value (amount including taxes) is the cash discount base. This constellation is not supported by the system.
Procedure
Correct the configuration for the company code in question.
I also check the FXTP confiq the A0 tax code is assign company code & also define & assign in zero tax code.
Please give the solution ASAP.
Regards,
SandeepHi,
Check OBY6 as suggested by Kalyan or use Tcode - OB69.

Hi,
I cannot transfer tax data during creating new material. I know that either tax type or tax classification is responsible for error. I know that some dependences exist but cannot find what exactly. What should I pass to TAX_TYPE_1 and TAXCLASS_1?

Employee tax types and tax rates
Hi gurus,
I have a requirement in that i need to get the employee tax rates. Is tax rates are maintained in SAP or BSI. If tax rates are maintained in sap what are the tax rate tables. If they are maintained in BSI, is their any FM'S to get the those tax rates.
thanks
venkataHi,
If I understand your question correctly, you want to find out Employee tax rates. Check the following points.
1. If you see the RT table employee tax related wage types are typically denoted by EE prefix and employer tax related ones are denoted by ER prefix.
2. I believe you were able to run the simulation. Please try and open the schema log. Search for function "USTAX" in calculate taxes section. if further open each node therein you would find BSI taxes section in which you may be able to separate the EE and ER taxes.
3. In tax type description as well, in table T5UTT, you should see the text Employer or Employee to distinguish the taxes.
let me know if this helped. Or you can post to me few more details like may be RT table details so that I can help you with specific example.

Tax amount and sales tax code fields not visible in tcode MIR4
Hi,
A workflow has been cretaed for cretaing the invoices. Here in SRM invoice, the tax code and Sales tax code fields are not visible in tcode MIR4 though data has been passed while creating it.
When i am checking the "calculate tax" check box, am able to see these two fields on the MIR4 page.
Am not able to find the reason for this behaviour. As its working fine for other invoices. This is the case with only SRM invoice.
Kindly provide your inputs.
Thanks!
Regards,
Razia Shaheen.Hello,
What you are saying is that the Invoice coming from SRM (Via Idoc i supose) is not bringing the tax code? is that it?

Tax Update and Forced Tax update
Hi all,
Plz can anyone explain me what is the difference between Tax Update and Tax Forced Update.
Thank you,
samWow, 2006. I'm guessing you are either not paying people from your system or one of your functional staff is manually modifying the tax tables. Hopefully it's the first option.
At our facility we apply tax updates once a year starting in late October or November. The exception to the rule is if one of our functional leads identifies something in a tax update that is critical and must be applied now.
You should start by downloading all of the tax updates. For the on-line objects apply them in order to your demo environment. For the COBOL, DMS and SQR build a staging directory for each type of program. Save programs to these directories in the order that the tax updates were delivered (i.e. a program modified in 2007A might be overlaid with the same program modified in 2007B). After that just go through the tedious process of identifying your customizations between what you currently have and what is in your staging directories (or demo database for the on-line objects). We typically create a third set of directories where we merge our customizations in with the new delivered code. This will eventually be moved to our test environment. Create a separate environment to do all of your testing from. Take your time.
Good luck. -
How to Create new Lookup Type and look up codes within it.
Hi,
I need to create a Poplist.
I want the View Object(to be associated with the poplist) to fetch the value from a new look up type and lookup codes as mentioned below.
How to create these in the APPS?
Lookup Type
RATINGS
LookupCode Meaning
A Very Good
B Good
C Satisfactory
D Bad
Please tell me how can i create the above mentioned Lookup Type and codes ?
thanks,
GowtamI have one more doubt regarding the AM to be associated with the poplist and that with the page and choice box within it.
The ViewObject for the poplist belongs to the package <xyz>.oracle.apps.employee.poplist.server.
My questions are
1.What should be the AM property for PageLayoutRN?
- is it oracle.apps.fnd.server.OAApplicationModule(as in HelloWorld)
OR
- is it <xyz>.oracle.apps.employee.poplist.server (view objects AM)
2.What should be the AM property for the Choice?
- do I need to assign it to <xyz>.oracle.apps.employee.poplist.server
OR
- leave it blank?
Please clarify my doubts.
Thanks,
Gowtam -
