WLC - Web Traffic redirection without using Web Auth?
Hi there,
I am in need of solution to integrate it to WLC where the Guest Users can use the wireless access and then be redirected to the company's website once they open a browser.
This is where the guest users will no longer click any buttons (or accept any certificates). Once the browser is hit it will automatically go to the companys website.
You can use pfsense or monowall (there are others, but these are the top two open source splash screen portals) or a commercial offering as the gateway
pfsense is bsd based and has more features than monowall. The splash can be http or https and is fully customizable.

Hi All,
I need help on Configuring the Site to Site VPN from Cisco 2811 to Websense Cloud for web Traffic redirect

What is the best way to find a file on the servers disk without using web.xml?
What is the best way to find a file on the servers disk without using web.xml?
I want to find a configuration file not contained within the war file I have
created. Is there a way to pass information into the ServletContext with out
rebuilding the ear or war files? Tomcat 4.0 can do this in its server configuration
files. Does BEA have the equivalent?
Regards,
Eric
You can specify the path to the file as a system property
eg
java -Dconfig.file.location=./mydirecotry/myfile.txt com.test.MyApp

How to run java servlet without using Web.xml?
How to run servlet without using Web.xml? From a book, I know that web.xml descriptor is optional, but the book doesn't tell us how to run java servelet without web.xm descriptor. So how to do that? Thanks a lot.
How to run servlet without using Web.xml? But Tomcat now uses a web.xml for its global server-wide configuration.
If you'd like to invoke a servlet with:
http://host/servlet/ServletName
you have to enable the invoker servlet.

Web page redirection without auth on WLC
Customer wants to have users on their guest WLAN get redirected to an acceptable usage policy page without having to authenticate when connecting to the network. We're using WLC4400's. I know it can be done using external elements, but can the controller redirect or display without requiring web authentication first?
TIA,
DaveYou can use a web passthrough so the user connecting via your guest wlan is required to read the acceptable usage policy. We did this at a hot spot I setup. Under your WLAN configuration, select none for Layer2 and Layer3 security, then check the Web Policy box,and select passthrough. Then all you have to do is configure your Web Login Page (Security->Web Login Page). Place whatever verbage you require in this page to display on the users first attempt to use the web after connecting to your guest wlan. Enabling Web Policy and Passthrough gives the user only an accept button and nothing else. This basically is web authentication without having to enter any credentials.
Hope this helps.

Guest Traffic Segregation without using Anchor Controller
Hi
I need help in calrifiing , is there any other option avaialble to segregate the guest traffic from CORP on internal WLC itself without using anchor controller ?Well really can't tell you or else it would be a book. You either have use ACL's on your layer 3 to deny traffic from your guest subnet to your internal. Nothing has to change on the WLC. If you want to connect one port of the WLC to the DMZ, then disable LAG on the WLC and use port one as primary for the internal traffic which includes management and another port in the WLC as primary for the guest.

Users with a https home page are not redirected when using web-passthrough on WLC 5508
I have a Cisco 5508 running version 7.0.116.0. This controller hosts an open public wifi that requires users to accept a terms agreement via a Web-Passthrough setup that redirects them to the terms splash page. For most people this works without any issue. However, if a user has their homepage for their default browser set to a https site, such as https://www.google.com, then they are never redirected to the terms splash page. The page will just spin and spin until finally they get a timeout error.
Has anyone else had this experience? If so did you find a solution or is this some sort of short coming of the controller?
Any and all comments/information is appreciated!
Thanks,
JimThis is a known issue (see bug ID CSCar04580).
CSCar04580 Bug Details
web auth (redirect) doesn't work when client users a https url
Symptom:A client whose home page is an HTTPS (HTTP over SSL, port 443) one will never
be redirected by Web Auth to the web authentication dialog. Therefore, such
a client will not know to authenticate, and will fail to connect to the
network.
Workaround:The client should attempt to open any HTTP (port 80) web page. -
hi,
I have a requirement: in my site collection i have an announcement list. and in my site collection some 600+ sub sites exist. sharepoint admin uploads an announcement into this rootweb's announcement list. now is there any way
i can add the same announcement -which has title, description, date time etc .- to all the 600+ sub sites' announcement list?
i know , if i write a list item event receiver i will be able to iterate through eacha nd every subweb of my site collec and add this item into those sub web's announcement list. But, without writing an event receiver and creating and deploying
another wsp and avoiding all those headache, is it possible to achieve this requirement?
any other approaches are highly appreciated!Hi,
As a workaround, we can create a winform application for admin use only to add the item to all the sub web's announcement list.

Help! web.xml security without using WAR files
I'm currently using the RDBMSRealm and URL ACL security for my app. I would like to use the web.xml descriptor for security so that I can specify login pages and such. We currently are not using WAR files. I've been having alot of trouble setting this up. Is there a way to use the RDBMS realm along with the web.xml security? It looks like it should work, but I can't seem to get it to function. How do I specify the regular document root as a webapp? I'm currently running WLS 5.1 with SP4. Thanks.
The RDBMSRealm is just the authentication mechanism underneath WLS versus the
web.xml of the WebApplication which describes all the access control for that WebApp.
the later being scoped only to that WebApp.
you don't need to deploy in a war file, you can expand the archive into an identical
directory structure and then just point us towards the top level of that structure.

Web services client without using the WSDL file
I need to invoke a web service without WSDL, as the method and primitive type parameters will be defined by the user at runtime..
I am not interested in the return.. and can live without complextype parameters..
I found this example.. that seems to do what I need.. is there an open source equivalent to these weblogic classes? or maybe in java se?

Calling ejbs from servlets without using web apps.
i am trying to instantiate and ejb from a servlet but it gives me the
following error. the configuration and code that generated this error is
attached below.
oddly enough the same chunk of code works fine in a stand alone client if
j2ee.jar;weblogic\classes and weblogicaux.jar are included in the classpath.
any help would be appreciated.

The problem before was that you were trying to load the same class from
2 different class paths. The ClassCastException is very un-intuitive in this
case.

Web service testing - report using web service
Hallo everybody,
I tried to setup a report with a web service.
I tested my web service under shared components and the result shows the following error:
<env:Fault>
<faultcode>env:Client</faultcode>
<faultstring>Caught exception while handling request: XML reader error: unexpected character content: " xmlns:ns1="http://www.oracle.com/webservices/internal/literal""</faultstring>
</env:Fault>
My web service return an ArrayList<String>. Is an ArrayList<String> not supported or contains my result a wrong character like an "@"?
thank you in advance
regards
Michael87After a while I found out, that the SOAP message format "Document/Wrapped" was the problem.
I setup RPC/Literal in my jDeveloper and then it worked.
