WLS 7 - need separate port for console

Hi,
I can't find way to configure this for the life of me. Hopefully
someone can point me to some docs and page numbers...
I want to configure the WLS 7 server to host my web applications on
port 80, but I want the administration console hosted on a
different port (say 7001).
How do I do this??

Use the console. The default port for the admin console is 7001.
Try going to support.bea.com and in the box next to the "Ask" button,
enter "weblogic server 7.0 console port configuration". Several hits
will lead to
relevant parts of the documentation.
http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs70/ConsoleHelp/servers.html#1116254
I'll check other sources.

Port 80 is quite special. I was about to caution you about using it,
but wanted to get some details first.

It complains because on Unix-es only priv user (root) can listen on ports <1000.
You can start it as 'root' and configure WLS to change uid/gid to a non-priv
user after binding to port 80 (using console it is in Unix Machine configuration).

  • Changing port for console?

    Hi,
is it possible to change WLS port for console application only on a standalone wls server?

If i understand you right then .....i guess what you need is to have console on a differnt port than the http listen port ....for this you can use Administartion port.....in your console go to the domain tab and in that Enable Administaration port and then you can use this port for the administrative traffic.....so the new url for consle will be t3s://ipaddress:adminport/console..please test this in a test enviornment first......
The other thing you were telling about is to change the context root for the console application ...you can do this in the same domain tab under configuration ...in the advanced tab you would see Console Context Path...just modify (sayfor eg: MyConsole) this and then you can use that value to bring up your console...http:ipaddress:port/MyConsole.....
Both the above changes needs a restart of admin server......
try in a test enviornment first.....
Hope this answers your question .....
Let us know if this works.......

  • Do we need two ports for establishing one connection to EJB from swing clie

    Hi all,
I have an application which uses Java Swing client and accesses an EJB to connect to the server.
I am connecting to the EJB using iiop://server-ipaddress:port.
It is required for me to open the firewall to access the above specified ip address and port number. Even though, I am able to access the specific ip address and port number, I am not able to establish the connection.
I tried out to check the porblem and I came to know that, this aplication is trying to open another port also on the same IP address.
I am just wondering whether we need two ports for one connection.
Does anybody face this type of problem?

If you need to access on two ports, you would have to open both :)

  • Serial port for console access to switch

Just got a Netgear L2 Switch, and need to use VT100 terminal emulation to connect to the switch's serial port.
Does anyone know how to enable the Xserve's serial port for this type of job? When running Zterm for OS X I get an "Error: 16 opening port" and I'm at a loss for how to do it. I've heard that USB to Serial adapters have been working, but it seems silly that the serial port wouldnt work.

Thanks Camelot, your advice was spot on.
    Just to close the topic:
    Edit "/System/Library/StartupItems/SerialTerminalSupport/SerialTerminalSupport"
    and change the line:
    ENABLESERIALTERMINAL=$TRUE
    to
    ENABLESERIALTERMINAL=$FALSE
also, may be redundant with the last step but I edited /etc/ttys and changed:
    tty.serial "/usr/libexec/getty serial.9600" vt100 on secure
    to
    tty.serial "/usr/libexec/getty serial.9600" vt100 off secure
Finally, dont be an idiot like I am, and leave the XServe case lock on... this will prevent the port from operating, and cause you to go crazy.

  • AP 2.1.4 Need "separate" photos for genealogy projects..."new masters?"

OK, I've had a "messy" Aperture "closet" but I'm gradually getting things organized and all older than 1 year are now on an external hard drive that are "Referenced." (The newest are managed on my MacBook.) I've imported back into my MacBook's Aperture 2.1.4 my whole bunch of genealogy photos (that were scattered all over the place...various hard drives, CDs, etc.) Now, I'd like to get them organized, doctored up, etc. and then save them for other projects for various relations, etc. I want the best possible "copy" of them. Do I want to just use "export" and export ONLY the "version" that I've repaired/retouched to other media (CDs, external HD, etc.) and leave everything else alone? (Some will be used on Reunion...and that's another issue since they put their photos into another file folder that is proprietary.) OR...should I make a new Master, too?
    Thanks...

Export just the touched-up Versions. In effect, your improved set will consist of Versions of the files you imported. Note that you don't have to create a new Version -- just touch up the image in Aperture, which is Version 1. (New Versions start with Version 2.)
Generally you do not want to "flatten" your adjustments with your Master (which would create a new file you could import). You will lose the ability to remove/adjust those adjustments, and violate the "non-destructive" part of Aperture.
However you end up working, you should clearly indicate (keyword, label, rating, location, whatever works for you) which Versions are the "best of", i.e.: the ones you want to use outside of Aperture when needed. Then when you need them, export them in whatever format you need (size, file type, etc.).

  • Do I need separate thread for readObject() and writeObject()?

Somehow, my Client/Server code behaves badly. A click on
the GUI did not always send a message to the Server as
intented (using writeObject(String)). Most of the times the
message was sent. But not always. The Client (GUI) also uses
readObject() to receive messages from the Server. Is this
problem associated with the fact that my readObject() and
writeObject() from the GUI are on the same thread? Need
    some help.
    Thank you.

    "and I don't do GUIs"
First, let me say, as a Newbie, how good it feels to
even be able to follow this.
But I honestly don't understand the above quoted
    comment from jverd.
How does somebody do Java and not do GUI stuff?
It almost sounds like a plumber saying "I don't do
    sinks."
Even from my novice perspective, Java seems slow and
    sucks copious amounts of memory.
Is there any practical use for Java if you're not
doing GUIs?In my experience, it's often the GUIs that make it slow. Apparently things are better if you use Swing carefully, or use SWT or maybe AWT.
As far as I can tell, the vast majority of Java code that's out there is backend stuff. Not that I've done a formal survey. I can tell you from personal experience however, that there is a LOT of stuff that Java is good for besides GUIs (business logic behind websites being one of its major areas of use), and if you write reasonably good code, it will be very fast.
Your analogy might be better couched as "an auto mechanic saying 'I don't do body work.'"

  • Ports for Firewall rules

    Hi,
can anybody point out which ports are to be opened on firewalls ?
Im am using a SunMC 4.0 server/console/agent on a v240 and need to monitor systems located behind firewalls.
    Also NATing is involved.
I would like to know which ports I have to open from agents to server (and vice versa) and from server to java-console on a PC (and vice versa)

    Hi,
You need to open firewall ports from 161-168. Also take a look at /var/opt/SUNWsymon/cfg/domain-config.x and make sure to open any ports within the "snmpPort" line of that file.
Take a look at this post on how to configure firewall ports for console to server communication: [http://forums.halcyoninc.com/showthread.php?t=7]
If you still have problems with adding the agents, you can take a look at the following post on troubleshooting agent icon creation: [http://forums.halcyoninc.com/showthread.php?t=92]
If you are using agents in NAT mode, it may not work very well as alarms would not show in the alarms tab. Please take a look at the following posts regarding this issue:
