WLS 8.1 to WLS 10.3.4 Upgrade

Hi
We are upgrading our WLS 8.1 Servers to WLS 10.3.4 server. While adding the weblogic.jar from WLS 10.3.4 in the project, facing an issue of importing the packages "weblogic.jdbc.oci.Blob" and "weblogic.marathons.util.EditableList" in my project, which were present in weblogic.jar of WLS 8.1 but deprecated for WLS 10.3.4. Please suggest something for this.
Thanks...!!

Hi ,
Dont add the weblogic.jar file in your application explicitly then check the error you get,and also dont specify the location of the class in your application.
Let me know if you face any errors after the above suggestions.

  • Upgrade WLS from 10.3 to 10.3.1

    Hi,
It's my first time to upgrade an WLS server installation.
When I upgrade WLS from 10.3 to 10.3.1 where I should install the WLS binaries?
(same directory than WLS 10.3 or a new one).
Maybe I missed something in the doc's but in the WLS 10.3.1 upgrade guide I could only find how to upgrade e.g. security provider, domains, .... AFTER installing the binaries.
    regards
    Peter

    Hello Peter,
    I had the same problem.
According to the install documentation for Forms/Reports you can only extend a domain which was created by the Portal, Form, Reports, Discoverer installer.
These domain type is called Classic.
So if you have already a domain which is still empty, remove it and create a ClassicDomain with the Forms/Reports installer.
If your existing domain is not empty you have to create a second domain of type Classic
    Kind regards

  • Upgrade 10.3.5.0 -- 10.3.6.0.8?

I've been applying patches individually as they become available rather than waiting
for the cumulative patch updates to become available since installing in 2012.
Hence right now we are at a patched 10.3.5.0.
For the April release I am told there is a security vulnerability available that isn't
    available as an individual patch.
    Questions:
Will this Patch Update to 10.3.6.0.8 work without problems for my
    system?
If not is the problem that I am at 10.3.5.0 or that I did individual patches?
Also if so, what can I do to most painlessly get this patch applied?
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Patch Set Updates (PSUs) are proactive cumulative patches containing recommended bug fixes that are released on a regular and predictable schedule. PSUs are on the same quarterly schedule as the Critical Patch Updates (CPU)
-You need to first upgrade from WLS 10.3.5 to WLS 10.3.6
Have a look at the following Note :
README File Included with WebLogic Server 10.3.x Upgrade Installers: Instructions for Upgrade Installer in Graphical, Console, or Silent Mode (Doc ID 1064633.1)
To download the upgrade installer for Weblogic 10.3.6 :
How Can I Download Upgrade Installers for Oracle WebLogic Server (WLS)? (Doc ID 1074946.1)
    To Summarize :
    - First uninstall all the patches applied in WLS 1035
    - Upgrade WLS 1035 to WLS 1036 using an upgrade installer
    - Now apply the PSU 10.3.6.0.8 patch on top of WLS 1036. ( BUG 18040640 ).
Below are the fixed BUGs in WLS 10.3.6.0.8 :
New DocumentOracle WebLogic Server Patch Set Update 10.3.6.0.8 Fixed Bugs List (Doc ID 1645823.1)
If the PSU is missing any patch that you need in your environment then try to find the patch in your support portal and apply it manually.

  • Weblogic 6.1 sp1 Application Server MDB does not consume messages

    I have the following situation:
WebLogic Application Server 6.1 sp1. A deployed mdb does nothing - just sits idle
even when the JMS queue it points to has many messages waiting to be consumed.
When the application server is bounced (i.e., shutdown and restarted), the mdb
starts processing the messages. JMS server has a JDBC backing store.
    Any ideas?

  • Apache mod_proxy problem.

    Hi.
We use an apache 1.3.19 webserver with mod_ssl 2.8.3 as a front-end to an application server WLS 5.1 sp 6. The application server is accessed with the apache module mod_proxy. We also use the apache plug-in for WLS mod_wl_ssl.so
When upgrading to apache v. 1.3.24 and mod_ssl 2.8.8, the pages accessed with mod_proxy show up as "page not found" whereas the pages accessed with mod_wl_ssl works fine as before. Is this a known problem? and is there a way to upgrade apache and still use the mod_proxy module in apache?

  • Upgrade of esso 10.1.4.0 to esso 11.1.1.2 on terminal servers

    Hi
After the upgrade of esso 10.1.4 to esso 11..1.1.2 we have found an issue on terminal server clients.
We have an esso batch file that runs on startup for each user. This batch file now takes between 20-30 seconds as opposed to 5-10 seconds on the old version (10.1.4)
The contents of the batch file is as follows:
    c:\program files\passlogix\v-go sso\ssoshell.exe /noshutdown
I have found sites that have not been upgraded, the batch file runs faster.
    Any clues
    Minesh

Your JDev should always be the same as your WLS so you should upgrade both at the same time.
For the rest it's straight forward and just follow the official documentation from Oracle.
There are no major changes between PS3 and PS5. It's the same functionality and framework so upgrading should be rather straight forward.
JDev will automatically migrate your PS3 applications to PS5.

  • How to Patch WL Server 10.3.2?

I am currently looking through note 1063762.1 to get WL Server installed for Oracle Grid Control 11g.
I installed WL Server 10.3.2, but it states the following to get a patched applied:
"You need to apply Patch WDJ7 to the WLS home before Installing/Upgrading the Grid control. Refer to Note 1072763.1 for instructions on how to apply online/offline patch to WLS."
Note 1072763.1 only makes reference to getting the patch with the Smart Update tool. My prod server has no outside access, so I want to manually get the patch and upload it to my server.
How would I do this manually?
    Thanks in advance!

Please check if the below info is useful.
Download the patch in your local machine using smart update.
Place the patch inside the cache-dir directory (C:\bea\utils\bsu\cache-dir) on the server.
    Installation Example
The following command installs the patch YH9B from the patch download directory that has been established for the current system:
Go to the path of bsu: (C:\bea\utils\bsu)
    bsu.cmd -prod_dir=c:\Oracle\Middleware\wlserver_9.2 -patchlist=YH9B -verbose -install
When executed, the preceding command displays the following output showing that the patch was successfully applied:
    Checking for conflicts.
    No conflict(s) detected
Starting installation of Patch ID: YH9B
    Installing C:\Oracle\Middleware\download-dir\YH9B.jar
    Result: Success
Following are the steps for uninstalling the patch:
Please make use of the following command for uninstalling the patch.
    \bea92\utils\bsu>bsu.cmd -remove -patchlist=YH9B -prod_dir=D:\bea\weblogic92 –verbose
Then the output will be similar to the following
    Checking for conflicts…
    No conflict(s) detected
Starting removal of Patch ID: GK7R
    Result: Success

I guess you should be asking on an internal forum somewhere, because we, the unwashed masses, don't have access to JDev 12c.

  • Error:Unable to reserve .lok file for Integrated WLS server (DefaultServer)

    Hi,
    I am having jdev 11.1.1.1.0.
Many times I get following error while running my application pages:
Unable to reserve the .lok file for Integrated WLS server (DefaultServer). Typically this is because another instance of this server is already running in the WLS domain.
The only way out is to close jdev, delete system11.1.1.1.33.54.07 folder and open jdev again.
Why is this error dialog shown? Is there any permanent solution?
    TIA

    Thanks for quick reply!
As suggested in the given thread, I logged into the weblogic console http://127.0.0.1:7101/console/ as 'weblogic' user.
On the left hand side in the 'View changes and restarts' section, no pending changes are shown. It shows following text:
Configuration editing is enabled. Future changes will automatically be activated as you modify, add or delete items in this domain.
Please advise. I can share the application.zip if needed.
    Thanks

  • HP-UX Kernel Params for WLS 6.0SP2 Cluster to Avoid java.lang.outofmemory and/or thread death

              I'm running a WLS 6.0 SP2 clustered application on HP-UX 11i. I'm seeing heap and
thread issues on start-up or invocation of my application as I deploy EJB's and create
DB connection pools. These are fairly trivial tasks that don't give me any issues
when starting the first node. It's only when I invoke the second node.
I'm pretty sure that my issue is tied to the following kernel areas:
              1. Thread allocation
              2. Heap allocation
              3. Max Processes per user
Can anyone make some kernel recommendations that might be beneficial to my deployment?
My app runs on NT/2000 and Sun as well, and I haven't seen these issues. I typically
allocate 50 to 100 threads per node (3 nodes on a 4 CPU machine) and allocate about
1GB of RAM per node on a 4GB machine...
              Regards,
              Steve

HP has some kernel tuning guidelines for Java server apps on their web site,
and BEA has some notes as well in their platform support page.
What issues specifically are you seeing?

  • Java ftp server which can use LDAP, how to integrate with WLS' implementation of LDAP?

    Howdy.
I'm setting up a java ftp server
(http://www.mycgiserver.com/~ranab/ftp/index.html) which is capable of using
LDAP for it's user security. I would like to integrate this ftp server with
wls' implementation of LDAP so I only have to admin one user list.
Does wls put it's user list in the LDAP or in it's own proprietary setup? I
tried playing around with it, but the users don't seem to appear in the JNDI
tree. Is this where the LDAP stuff is located? I thought it was in there?
If it's in it's own setup, is there a way to propagate the users to LDAP?
If these look like newbie Q&A, I guess they kind of are, I'm new to LDAP.
Thanks for any input you might have.

    Peter,
If you are talking about using the embedded LDAP server in WLS 7.0 for this purpose
I think you are going done the wrong path.
Look at the following URL on how to use an external LDAP server for your custom
    application
