WLST Script for Increase Log Level

Hi All,
How do we increase the log level of the log files using WLST ?
I know, how to increase the log levels using the EM Console page, but I want to know, if it can be done using WLST or Python script.
Thanks.

Here is a WLST script that you can adjust to meet your requirements.
connect('weblogic', 'welcome1', 'localhost:7001')
edit()
startEdit()
cd('/Servers/AdminServer/Log/AdminServer')
cmo.setLoggerSeverity('Info')
activate()
Run with $ java weblogic.WLST ScriptBoot.py
Note my server is called AdminServer, so you will need to adjust for your server name and change logging level as desired.

  • How to increase log level for SUNW.oracle_listener resource type

    I understand that i can increase logging level for a resource with "clrs set -p "Debug_level=$LEVEL", but the SUNW.oracle_listener resource type doesn't seem to have this property. Is there some other way of increasing log data to debug an issue with a listener resource? I ask because we have a strange situation where our database listener is being restarted every once in a while. With the log data I have, it appears that the listener is being stopped or dies, and then the monitor restarts it when it detects the fault, however our DBA's believe that it is the cluster that is actually the one cycling it because the monitor fails or is unable to connect because it is too busy to respond in time or something along those lines.
    Maybe I am incorrect and it is the cluster, but I'd expect to see something before a "Attempting to restart listener" log entry, something along the lines of the monitor failing or a "no response in given time" before the resource says it is restarting.
    Here are the logs from when this first happens, if anyone can advise, I would really appreciate it.
    Sep 28 14:17:48 SC[SUNWscor.oracle_listener.monitor]:oracle:oraclels: Attempting to restart listener oracle.
    Sep 28 14:17:50 SC[SUNWscor.oracle_listener.monitor_stop]:oracle:oraclels: Stopping fault monitor using pmfadm tag ORALSNR_MON_oraclels
    Sep 28 14:17:52 SC[SUNWscor.oracle_listener.stop]:oracle:oraclels: Stopping listener oracle.
    Sep 28 14:17:52 SC[SUNWscor.oracle_listener.stop]:oracle:oraclels: Using method 'run_setuid_prog' to execute shutdown commands
    Sep 28 14:18:00 SC[SUNWscor.oracle_listener.stop]:oracle:oraclels: Listener oracle stopped successfully
    Sep 28 14:18:02 SC[SUNWscor.oracle_listener.start]:oracle:oraclels: Starting listener oracle.
    Sep 28 14:18:02 SC[SUNWscor.oracle_listener.start]:oracle:oraclels: Using method 'run_setuid_prog' to execute start commands
    Sep 28 14:18:06 SC[SUNWscor.oracle_listener.start]:oracle:oraclels: Listener oracle started.
    Sep 28 14:18:08 SC[SUNWscor.oracle_listener.monitor_start]:oracle:oraclels: Starting monitor

    Thanks for the reply Thorsten. The logs I included in the original post are actually from /var/opt/SUNWscor/oracle_listener/messages_log.$RESOURCE. I'd like to bump up the verbosity on the oracle_listener logs like I can with the oracle_server logs, but for whatever reason there is no debug_level parameter for the oracle_listener resource type. Sounds like I may be SOL, but thought I'd check with the forum and verify.

    Does anybody have a WLST script for step-by-step "smart" cluster restart?

    Dear SAM,
    are you looking for exchange 2013 installation. Please follow below link. I have done the same scenario as yours
    1. install first VM - 2012
    2. Static IP / loopback as primary DNS
    3. install ADDS /DNS (forwarder to ISP)
    4. install second VM - Static IP again
    5. DNS of second VM to be the IP of first VM
    6. this will join the domain
    7. installation of exchange will be simple, configuration from this link : http://www.techieshelp.com/exchange-2013-step-by-step-configuration/

  • WLST Script for Disabling/Enabling Global SLA Alerting.

    Hello,
    I wanna find a way from the WLST to disable and enable the SLA Alerting which is under Operations-->Global Settings in the sbconsole. This is the global setting not per sercive!
    I have found how to create a session and how to disable the alerts per service, but i cannot find which MBean is accessed when throught the sbconsole the global SLA alerting is disabled/enabled.
    Can anybody point me to the right direction or help me to find how to do this from WLST.
    Thanks.

    Hi Ganesh,
    I have finally created the script i was looking for.. I copy-paste it below as a sample... For sure you need all the lines of code until the comment i have put "#####you need this code above"
    now the code you see below the comment is for disabling the global sla alerting... you have to write a bit to target a specific service that you want to disable.
    Keep in mind that after you make your change you hava to include those lines in order to activate the changes and disconnect and exit..
    sessionMBean.activateSession(sessionName, "enable SLA")
    disconnect()
    exit()
    If you have access to oracle support search for wlst script for osb it has a lot and you can find how to target a specific service...
    I hope that i help a little bit

    If you are using a cluster you need to make sure the connection pool and data source are deployed on the admin server. I have had this problem many times before.

  • Shell script for archive log transfer

    hi
    I dont want to reinvent the wheel.
    I am looking for shell script for log shipping to provide standby db.
    What I want to do is, get the last applied archived log number from alert.log
    Copy the files from archive destination according to this value.
    Cheers

    If you don't want to re-invent the wheel you use Dataguard, no scripts.
    And your script should use the dictionary, instead of some bs method to read the alert.
    v$archived_log has all information!
    Also as far as I know, the documentation describes manual standby.
    So apparently you not only don't want to reinvent the wheel, but you want the script on a silver plate on your doorstep!
    Typical attitude of most DBAs here. Use OTN for a permanent vacation.

  • WLST script for changing password for userid in Weblogic 9.2

    Hello Everyone,
    We want to change password for userid in weblogic 9.2. Is there a way we can do this by using WLST script? If so please provide me with steps for doing that using WLST. Thanks in advance.
    - - Weblogic Consultant

    Did you try going to the WLST documentation and searching for it? Go to [http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs92/pdf/config_scripting.pdf] and search for "Changing a Password". The example there seems to be what you need.

  • Suggestions for changing logging levels?

    I'm looking at using the JDK 1.4 Logging API in my web application. I want the ability to selectively change the logging level for my application component loggers (not the global logging level) without recompiling and redeploying my code. I can live with having to restart my web container.
    As I understand the documentation, the API provides 3 options for customizing logging properties:
    1) Modifying the default logging.properties file in the JRE lib folder, which is not workable for a application component for a number of reasons.
    2) Specifying an alternative properties file when the JVM is started, which is not workable because my web app doesn't start the container.
    3) Specifying a class that acts as the property file loader, again not workable because my web app is only one of many running in my container.
    Additionally, the API docs are not clear on the effect of calling the LogManager method readConfiguration(InputStream ins) with just my properties at some point in my application.
    Does anyone know a reasonable way of controlling logging levels in this fashion?

    Use log4j, and put the log4j.properties in the <webapp>/WEB-INF/classes directory.
    To use log4j, simply put log4j-x.x.x.jar into your <webapp/WEB-INF/lib directory. The java logging setup will automatically use it.

  • Exch2010R2 increase logging level to view "rcpt to" commands sent

    Hi
    We are currently being blocked by Hotmail (MSN, Live and Outlook domains) for namespace mining. Basically they are saying our Exchange 2010R2 is sending out thousands of ‘rcpt to’ commands using randomised email addresses to try and find legitimate ones.
    The message tracking logs are not sufficient as they do not show rcpt events only actual email sending and receiving. In the EMS I do #Get-EventLogLevel, nearly all logs are set to lowest - which one would I set to highest to see helo and rcpt to communications?
    Thanks
    Rhys

    And how did you do this ?
    Please remember when you are asking for help, it could be appreciable to give the answer when you got it ;)
