WLST startServer() fails

Hi,
I am trying to use the wlst command startServer() to start the admin server of a domain I just created in some earlier wlst steps. The domain is created as expected; however, when I try to start it I get an error telling me that the username and password found in the boot.properties file is invalid. Here is the exception...
weblogic.security.SecurityInitializationException: Authentication denied: Boot identity not valid; The username and/or password from the boot identity file (boot.properties) is not valid. The boot identity may have been changed since the boot identity file was created. Please edit and update the boot identity file with the proper values of username and password. The first time the updated boot identity file is used to start the server, these new values are encrypted.
Does anyone have any idea why this is happening? Any suggestions as to how I get around it?
Thanks

apparently, a java bug (even in Java7u13) which is expected to be fixed in later releases.

We create a Domain through WLSt. Save it, start it and then deploy our app. All though WLST.
Part 1), creating the domain worked. While starting the server, it complained about "JAX-WS 2.2 API is required, but an older version was found in the JDK.". That was resolved when I added java.endorsed.dirs. Now, I have the domain created and then WLSt tries to start it using
    startServer('AdminServer','MyDomain','t3://localhost:7001', 'weblogic', 'weblogic1',

    Hi Sebastian,
You need to be connected to master database when executing GRANT VIEW SERVER. Try the following it will work:
    USE [master]
    GO
GRANT VIEW SERVER STATE TO [Domain\User]

  • Server in RUNNING state but failed to start

    Hello everyone,
I create a domain using WLST and then I start the AdminServer (WLS 12.1.1, Java 7 Update 21). I have done this in several physical servers and experienced no problem. Now I am experiencing the following problem in one of the physical servers-

So the server suceeds to go into RUNNING mode but the WLST startServer command fails to start the server. I went through all logs and compared them to successful instalations and found no difference. Does anyone have a clue about what might cause this problem or how I can I start the server using WLST in a trace mode so I get more information about what is going on?
    Thanks
    Paul

Try to backup-delete folder data, cache and tmp on $WLH/domains/DOMAIN/servers/YOURSERVER/ and retry, you should have a lock there that keep you from restarting.

  • WLST script not running in CRON...

i have written a WLST scrit to connect to WLS and find the DS driver Information ....the script runs pretty good when i manulay run it ...however when i added the script to CRON it just invokes WLST and fails...I have the shell script (.sh) first set the env by invokin <WLS-HOME>/server/bin/setWLSEnv and then execute the WLST script....like i said everything is fine when run manually but the cron job fails......
when i chek the log file for the output i just see this
Initializing WebLogic Scripting Tool (WLST) ...
Welcome to WebLogic Server Administration Scripting Shell
Type help() for help on available commands
but when run manually its connecting....
There is no ownership issue as such coz other cron jobs with the same owner run succesfully....!!!
    Please advise......
    Thanks in advance....

instead of setWLSEnv...i invoked setDomainEnv.sh and then cd to the dir where i have the .py script and the rest as it is and now it works...!!!!!!
This tells me that may be setWLSEnv doesnt set all the required env variables for the .py script to run in cron....correct me if am still doing something wrong!!!!

    Thanks,
    Mohammad

    Hi Mohammad,
You are right, this error seems to indicate that the script environment cannot find the required java classes.
    Please try the following:
    1. Open a shell (command prompt) on the computer on which you created the domain.
    2. Change to the directory in which you located the domain.
By default, this directory is BEA_HOME\user_projects\domains\domain_name, where BEA_HOME is the top-level installation directory of Oracle WebLogic products.
    3. Set up your environment by running one of the following scripts:
    bin\setDomainEnv.cmd (Windows)
    bin/setDomainEnv.sh (UNIX)
On Windows, you can use a shortcut on the Start menu to set your environment variables and invoke WLST (ToolsWebLogic Scripting Tool).
    4. Invoke WLST by entering: java weblogic.WLST
    The WLST prompt appears.
    wls:/(offline)>
    5. Then you can start the AdminServer with WLST
    startServer('AdminServer','ClassicDomain','t3://localhost:7001','weblogic','password','/home/oracle/Oracle/Middleware/user_projects/domains/ClassicDomain')
This link may also help: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12840_01/wls/docs103/config_scripting/manage_servers.html#wp1009240
    Hope your issue gets resolved.
    Thanks,
    Cris

    Hi ..Try,
    1) Check your database and ensure thar DEMODB schema is exist or not.
    2) Exit JDeveloper and then delete  or rename the folder "C:\Users\sumandal\AppData\Roaming\JDeveloper\system12.1.2.0.40.66.68". Start JDeveloper and run integrated weblogic server . Provide the essential things like password, host etc. I hope this will solve your issue.
You can refer the below link also if you do not get the solution after doing the second step.

    Hi,
Can you try the following steps and let us know if it works?
    1. Create a folder in your c: drive (say c:\myjdevhome)
    2. Invoke the command prompt, set JDEV_USER_HOME=c:\myjdevhome
    3. cd to JDEV_HOME\jdeveloper\jdev\bin
    4. Start the jdev (jdev.exe).
    5. Run/Debug your application.

  • ERROR:  An error occurred while building the default domain

    Hi,
I have just installed Oracle JDeveloper 11g R1 (Build 5407) (Oracle JDeveloper Studio Edition for Windows (934 MB) ) on my windows laptop, but when I start JDeveloper I get the message : ERROR: An error occurred while building the default domain.
Does anyone know what this means or how to resolve it?

    Hi,
This might be caused by a conflict with something already in your CLASSPATH. I would suggest the following:
    1. Shut down JDeveloper if it is already running. Delete the default domain directory:
    rd /s "C:\Documents and Settings\richard anthony\Application Data\JDeveloper\system11.1.1.1.33.54.07\DefaultDomain"
    2. From a command prompt, clear your CLASSPATH:
    set CLASSPATH=
    3. Start JDeveloper using the same command prompt as step 2:
    C:\Oracle\Middleware\jdeveloper\jdev\bin\jdev
If the problem was with the pre-existing CLASSPATH, the default domain should now build successfully.

  • Can i set a node manager serve for 2 domain on one machin??

    My question is simple.
I installed webcenter suite and soa suite in a machine using difference linux user and difference middleware home.
and I want to set a node manager server for two domains (soa_domain and webcenter_domain).
    Is is possible?
When I tried to register domain list in node manager domain list using nmEnroll() of wlst, it failed.
please check following logs in 7101 is admin server port of soa domain and I ran node manager on webcenter domain.
    Thanks in advance.

you might be victim of the "node manager starts WL Server with same Unix user id that was used to start Node Manager itself" problem

I have been looking everywhere for a simple way to tell Node Manager to use a different Unix UID,
    anybody any clue?

  • Issue with Weblogic 12c(12.1.2)

My service is working as expected in weblogic 11g.Now we are upgrading to weblogic 12c.
We are facing an issue of "NullPointerException" , due to the values, not getting  populated during server startup from ra.xml.
In weblogic 11g the control is not going to that location, which is leading to an exception in Web logic 12c(NPE).
If we validate the null values, control is invoking twice, one with null values and another time with actual values from ra.xml.
Please help me on the same.
    Thanks & Regards
    Vijay

    Hi Sai,
it did  not solve my issue. I am getting SocketException. The post you were talking about is BindException.
Please help me if you can do something on this.
Some where i have seen like this
    Using IPv6-Formatted Addresses
    Platform: All
When using an IPv6-formatted address for WebLogic Server, the URL should include square brackets ('[' and ']') for the host address. Otherwise, WLST may fail to connect to the running server.
    Workaround
Add square brackets to the host address. For example:
    t3://[fe80:0:0:0:203:baff:fe2f:59e5]:9991.
But i dont know in which file these hosts contains.

  • SUNW.gds resource creation problem / service startup failure

We have a vendor provided set of application server start and stop scripts that we are trying to mold into a GDS resource. The scripts must be run as a user not as root. This app takes about 6 minutes to start up and it creates about 400 processes in doing so. We gave the user cluster.modify auth so it can create the resource, and the command takes but when the resource is being created, the startup script does not seem to fire. So I'm a little stumped as to make this thing run under the user account project settings. The other thing I noticed is the ports that I specify in the list are never present until the end of the 6 minutes of startup junk, and the GDS seems to log problems about these ports at the onset of creation. Here is the command for the create:
    clrs create -g ss_wfm-rg -t SUNW.gds  \
    -p Start_Command="/home/appl/advxrt/R8.0g/TOP/SOLARIS/bin/StartServer" \

The other biggy is how to get this thing to launch as a user and if it fail over to another node does not start as root. I tried doing an su - acctname -c "script" but it won't start it. Thanks!

Detlef or anyone familiar with GDS...
We agree here that customizing the GDS using your template is the way to go. What I have noticed is that since creating the wrapper scripts to call the newtask command, setup the environment, etc, when the wrapper script finishes (kicking off the native script) the RGM sees this as a fault and immeidately tries to restart the agent. Here is a snippet of the messages log.

Even assigning the user's project settings to the resources does not seem to allow the native vendor supplied startup scripts to launch (they say it is purely because we did not setup the working directory, etc, correctly, which the wrapper scripts do quite well). Is is normal for the wrapper script to "die" but yet have GDS probe the ports after X amount of time? Is this where the sleeping dummy comes into play?
    thanks in advance!

I was creating a pick list while some internal IDE Level appeared.
I ignored & was doing my job but it started continuously to appear.
I thought this as IntegratedWLS domain problem & removed the instance from local directory.
But again Integrated WLS is giving error in creating domian. Jdev 11.1.1.3.

Looks like your configuration is messed up big.
    Try this:
    1) stop jdev
    2) rename the folder C:\Users\ral\AppData\Roaming\JDeveloper\system11.1.1.3.37.56.60 to C:\Users\ral\AppData\Roaming\JDeveloper\system11.1.1.3.37.56.60_corrupt
    3) start jdev and answer no if you are asked if you like to migrate this will create a fresh configuration
    4) test your app with the new created configuration
If this works you have two possible ways to go on:
    a) leave everything as is but keep in mind that any changes to jdev properties like style changes are gone
    b) again start by 1), but this time migrate your settings from the renamed system folder C:\Users\ral\AppData\Roaming\JDeveloper\system11.1.1.3.37.56.60_corrupt
I only use b) if I have many settings changes from the default settings. Sometimes you migrate the error back in this way and have to use ea) anyway.
