WMV Import/Export Issues (Odd Resulting Video)

Hello all,
I've been plagued with a problem that has had me scratching my head for days now. My scenario is I need to create a number of short slideshows. I've been using PhotoStory 3 to create the basic slideshow, then importing the video from PS to Premiere to add a voiceover. The problem is when I import the video slideshow, when I play the video on Premiere's timeline some parts of the video have been dropped (i.e. one picture will start fading to the next, and the video will suddenly go black for a few seconds, then fade to the next picture) and some of the fade transitions in-between pictures have been abruptly cut short.
What's even weider is that deleting the video from Premiere, shutting Premiere down and then restarting it and re-importing the slideshow sometimes fixes the problem. Sometimes it introduces different missing video segments; sometimes there are more problems than before.
When (by simple luck) the video plays properly on Premiere's timeline, I've tried to export the video as a WMV. The result is more black segments and skipped transitions. I also tried rendering the same as a DV file, which fixed everything except one black segment. On another occasion, I managed to render one slideshow as a WMV with no issues at all. But only once, and after a number of failed attempts.
What should I do? Any WMV file not from Photostory imports and exports just fine. I tried using Premiere's slideshow capabilities (automate to timeline), but the pan/zooming is far too manual. Encore does the job great, but it can't export to anything other than DVD (I need WMV!). Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Specs: Dell XPS 410, 2.66 GHz w/ dual core processors, 4 gigs RAM, Vista Home Premium

I would avoid the conversion to DV and then to mpeg. If you really need to edit the video, then do not use Photostory.
If you are leaving the video from Photostory alone, why not do the voiceover in Photostory? Or do some kind of conversion of the video so you can play it in PPro and do the voiceover (such as Colin's method, and even leaving the type1 if it plays evenly), but use the wmv in encore. It is far from ideal, but a Photostory export (wmv, use settings for DVD) looked pretty good. (I don't actually remember whether I did the transcode in Encore or DVDIt.)
I would not do my own slideshow in Photostory with only wmv for export, but for the school musical I was doing, it was the Photostory slideshow done by the school for a DVD "bonus" or nothing.

  • PDF Import/Export Issue.

Just know, I installed the LiveCycle ES4 and tried to add the import/export feature on my PDF form. Everything was fine, there wasn't any error message. But when I opened the PDF, it showed me:
"This document enabled extended features in Adobe Reader. The document has been changed since it was created and use of extended features is no longer available. Please contact the author for the original version of this document."
Anyone can help me to figure out this issue?

Sounds like a bunch of issues, not just one issue.
For slow import from flash cards, check the hardware (is the card reader failing? or USB connection failing?)

  • Windows 7 WMV Import / Export problems

    Greetings,
Due to nature of CS4 having it's own rendering engine, current codec changes mis-effects it a lot.
For instance, a clean install on a clean install Windows 7 RC....
WMV files just can not be converted:
If you play/preview them inside Premiere CS4, you will see video struttering, jerky playback.
If you just try to convert them by AME, you will get following error: "Error Compiling Movie Unknown Error"
I wonder if it is a known bug or subject to change with next update or something extra that should be done. Just wanted to let you know.
    Here are computer specs:
    Intel Core2Quad Q6600 @ 2.4 Ghz
    nVidia 8800 GTS 512mb
    4 GB RAM
    Windows 7 RC Build 7100 x64
    Premiere CS4 (Updated via auto-updates)
This is about all WMV's I've tested so far. My main encoding target was F4V. I've tried anything such as Installing Windows 7 and without installing any further codecs, just installing CS4 OR clean install Windows 7 and codecs after and after CS4. Result did not change.
    My latest test wmv: http://download.intel.com/pressroom/kits/sot/Star_Global.wmv
Finally I'm guessing that has to do with either codec change in Media Player 12 but then I thought, it does have nothing to do with CS4 engine itself. Quicktime movies converts and loads just fine for instance.
So did anyone experience such issue or any work-around or any fix on the way?

    Description of you is Beta,
RC is release candidate and it is almost as equal to Final Release unless there is a critical bug in Operating System itself to stop it work. It is too late for 3rd party programs checking which MS is not responsible off for compability.
Second, ofcourse, noone expecting a W7 certification from Adobe CS4 product. Adobe often release new pack with every OS rather than converting old products compability for "financial" reasons.
    Now off the codec issue:
WMV playback is perfectly fine with every single other player without any 3rd party codec installation just like Vista, Vista x64 per se... I said in my first post, I've tried it without any 3rd party codecs (WMV is default codec already for Windows you know, you dont need any codecs for it normally) and there appears the problem, you can't play WMV files INSIDE PPro and get "Unknown Error" messages along with AME.
So here is final check list
    1. Without any 3rd party codecs or filters installed, WMV plays just fine on WMP, Media Players, etc. Not in CS4
    2. With 3rd party codecs and filters installed, WMV plays just as fine on WMP, Media players etc. Not in CS4
    3. I dont know if MS did anything inside OS or actually WMV format, but nothing indicates remotely about that, it is STILL WMP9
And wine snob, "Getting official certified" logo is one thing, writing a code that works globally on NT kernel is another. I've got editing and image processing software last updated at year 2001 that works in x64 Windows 7 without any problems... You'd expect better from Adobe... At least an update or workaround till they acquire a computer that has a Windows 7 RC on it (hey, it is released you know, you could always ask to MS for a free copy) I mean a software company should not be that alien on changes on platforms they sell their product and prepare for full release, no? As I said, I lost my hope on x64 Flash Player already after 2 years of same topic "Coming soon" on Knowledge base...

  • FCPX Export Issue: Choppy/glitchy video

When I'm exporting the finished MOV will be extremely choppy with the video. The audio will play perfectly (it's a 3 minute song) but the video will go glitchy and play 3 or 4 frames on a very fast loop, almost like a strobe. The footage was shot on a Canon 550d at 24fps and 50fps (the different frame rates hasn't given me issues while editing. Any help is much appreciated.

Guys really appreciate the help, so thanks.
This is what happens when the file is exported, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dui1uBnArRk lots of skipped/glithcy frames.
My set up is: Macbook Pro, 4gb, using a 500gb external drive as the capture scratch with all video files on the external drive. The link I've given is exported straight from Final Cut to Youtube but the same thing happens regardless of codec used on export Some of the footage was shot in 25fps and some 50fps. It's all being played back at 50fps and works fine on playback so don't think it's the issue. The footage was shot on a Canon 550d (t21) and imported/edited as the imported file, no conversion done. This all worked fine for editing, on playback within FCPX it's all perfect but only on export that the issue occurs.

  • Import/export issue to migrate the project

    Hi,
I am trying to migrate a project from 1 server to another server.
I exported the project and model from my current server, and imported them to the new server. the thing is, the senario can be run successfully, but when I open the interface in designer, the source table cannot get any definition, all the columns in the source table won't show up. it looks like to me is that the interface lost the connection of the data store in the model.
Anybody has any idea how to fix it?
    Thx

    Hi
If its a fresh imploementation then its fine.
Say yu migrated the ODI objects to prod and you face an issue.
you have fixed it in development and want to move it to prod.
How do you handle this scenario.

  • ODI - Import & Export issue

    Hi
I am using ODI in two environments (Development & Test, both are in different servers).
In Development, i have Master repository with Internal ID = 0 & Work repository with Internal ID =1
In Test environment, i have Master repository with Internal ID = 0 & Work repository with Internal ID =1
I tried to Export the Project & Models from Development, it was successfully completed. I placed those files in Test environment path.
I have succesfully imported the Models in the ODI Test environment. But, when i tried to Import Project, i faced the below error
    XML Import Error:
com.sunopsis.core.m: This import action has been cancelled because it could damage your repository (problem with the identifier sequences)
Can anyone help me what actions need to be taken to Import the Project without any issues in detail with the steps?
    Thanks
    Dhamu

    Hi Dhamu,
Its a pure ID clash, since ur DEV and TEST repository ID are same, its should be different across environment , say DEV Master-0, Work-1 and TEST Master-2, Work-3 something like that.
You need to flush the TEST repositories and create a new repositories with UNIQUE IDs.
    Have a look,
Migrate ODI project - import forbidden
    Thanks,

  • Video export issues with 5D mk II video

Using a trial version I keep running into issues with video slideshow export.
I have some 1080p '24fps' video clips from the 5D II, added them to a new Slideshow, did a Custom Export to h264 with height 720 (which from memory took the width to 1152) and 24fps - I want this to play on AppleTV, but the resulting video starts ok, but has multiple sections of blank video - in QT the frame rate has also been upped to 36fps!
It also takes a ridiculous amount of time to export a short clip, but that's seems par for the course for many of Apple's apps. This is on a 2008 8x3GHz Mac Pro with plenty of RAM, though running Leopard.
Anyone done any A/Bs of performance in Leopard vs Snow Leopard - does it make better usage of multiple cores? (They all have a little activity but it's 10% or so, perhaps 1 core at 70-80%, I can't understand even if it's not using all fully why one isn't getting maxed out with the conversion process).
The slideshow export function seems incredibly buggy - it used to output using AppleTv preset with incompatible frame rates, though they may have fixed that.

Just a thought, but 24p was just added to the markII through a firmware update.
Yes, which is why I thought it would be great for AppleTV which can only officially support 720p at 24fps (though 25fps will often work).
If I use an AppleTv preset it will now rescale to 960x540, but I want to use 1280x720.
Previously in 3.0 the AppleTV preset output 720p but at 30fps which is too high for AppleTV.
Are you sure it's not the footage? Have you tried it in FCP? Also, it maybe that 24p isn't supported in A3, but this all just conjecture on my part.
Good thought, but I would imagine QT is the engine supporting the Aperture exports, and if parameters are set correctly it should give the appropriate output.
I'll try using QT Pro and see what that does with a clip.

  • LR 5 Slideshow Video Export Issue

I've created a slideshow where all of the photos display properly within Lightroom's slideshow module.  But when I export the slideshow to video (this doesn't happen for the pdf export), a few of my photos are rendered on screen at very low resolution/fuzzy.  This only happens to a few of the photos and these same photos look fine if viewed within the LR slideshow module.  It's just after export that a few of the photos get rendered at low resolution; all other photos in the slideshow are fine.  Reading some posts, i tried deleting the previews for all of the photos and then re-rendering them at 1:1 and then trying the export again, but i get the same outcome...although this time, different photos were rendered at low resolution.   Is this some kind of bug or have i failed to set a setting properly?

I can duplicate the issue of some landscape images appearing very soft in the MP4 slideshow video on my Windows 7 LR5.3 system.
To rule out issues I started by selecting all of the image files to be used in the Library module. Then I selected toolbar Library> Previews> Discard 1:1 previews. Next I selected Library> Previews> Build 1:1 Previews and then created the slideshow video again. None of the images appeared soft in the 1080p video created from Canon 5D MKII video files. In fact the results actually appear better than LR4.
If this doesn't resolve your issue please provide image file types you are using (Camera model, raw, JPEG, resolution), Slideshow video preset you are using (1080p, 720p etc.), and your Catalog Settings> File Handling> Standard Preview Size (2048, 1680, etc.).

Good to hear that you've had some success with the import.
I tried 3 times to do it before I finally changed it to H.264, and it worked on the first try.  The quality of the compression was terrible with those settings compared to my standard settings, but I'm just glad it worked.
Rather than Share>Export using QuickTime and then choosing your own settings for H.264, you may get a better result if you simply use the Share>Export Movie option. Alternatively, use the Share>Media Browser option (as I mentioned in my earlier post). You will be presented with a range of sizes to choose from. Depending on your target, it's usually best to select the highest size available, such as Large, HD 720p or HD 1080p. However, for producing a DVD it's best to not go beyond the HD 720p size, as the DVD will be downscaled during encoding to Standard Definition in the appropriate size for either PAL or NTSC.
In my experience, both these options (Export Movie or Media Browser) produce a video file of excellent quality. The files will be in H.264 format and will have the file extension .mov or .m4v depending on the size of the export. I'm assuming that your camera records HD video in AVCHD format.
These files work well with iDVD (or other DVD authoring programs). The export process for the presets is optimised by Apple to produce high quality video files at a reasonable file size. So, selecting a preset may give you a much better result. Choosing your own H.264 settings when using the "Export using QuickTime" method could be why "the compression was terrible". You may have selected a data (bit) rate that was too low. There is always a trade-off between quality and file size when compressing video.
So, to summarise, try one of the Apple presets using either Share>Export Movie or Share>Media Browser.

  • Has anyone had issues with Administration\Data Import/Export\Data Import???

Has anyone had issues with Administration\Data Import/Export\Data Import???
I have a client who has recently upgraded from V2007 to V8.81. They were succesfuly  using this standard function to import supplier prices to their master price list, but now it has failed?
I have looked at the file they are importing and it appears to be fine.
On closer inspection, it did contain approx 46,000 entries, so I took the first 1,000 and created a test file, which imported fine.
The only issue I found was Speed, with the test file of 1,000 records taking about 30 Mins to import. This appeared to get slower and slower the further through the file it got!
Based on this, I have estimated that the whole file would takle about 13 hours to import. The client say that when they used to run it on version 2007 it was far quicker?
In practice, it does appear to run, but the speed is the issue. Having said this, I set the whole file to run last night (over night)and this morning it had appeared to hang after about 2,307 rows, with nothing else being updated.
Has anyone any ideas or is aware of performance issues like this?
    Thanks,
    Ian

Always an option, but would you give your clients access to this tool?
    Not sure really.
I have uploaded a copy of their database onto my test system and run the same routine. Its equally as SLOW
I can't gauage if its an issue with 8.81 that 2007 didn't have, as I only have the client's word on it, however I have no reason to disbelieve them.
    Kind regards,
    Ian

  • Import/exporting uncompressed video multiple times

Hi guys I'm running FCP version 5. I want to use a plugin called NeatVideo to remove grain from my footage however it is not compatible with FCP 5. My friend has FCE 4, which NeatVideo is compatible with.
The question is, if I export my film from FCP 5 as an uncompressed.mov, import this into FCE, add the plug in, and then export from FCE again uncompressed, and then reimport into FCP once more to get it ready for my final export for DVD SP, will all these imports/exports result in a loss of quality?
My guess is no since it will be uncompressed? If so how to I prevent any loss of quality? Do I have to set the FCE project settings as uncompressed also?
I'm kinda new to all this so your help will be much appreciated!
    Thanks. T

    Quick question Jim,
How do you make a 'file recognition' import to another version of FCP or FCE which is installed on a completely different PowerMac?
Is it simply exporting it as uncompressed - which the new FCP/FCE will recognize?
Also when it is imported into the new FCP, will have I have to set the project settings 'Compression' to 'Uncompressed' also to ensure it remains the same quality without further compression?
    Thanks. T

There may be options to your process, but as I have mentioned in other strings, the Journals in the BPC for Microsoft version are sequenced.  That means that there is a system generated sequence ID for each journal.  Any individual selection of journals would possibly cause an issue for the sequence. I have not seen any past work in SSIS to detach the records for export or import.  It may be possible, but I would assume it will take some core SQL coding.
Regarding your error, you may need to verify that you have the security set correctly to use Journals and use the Data Manager capabilities.  Typically, when security tasks are not correct, you will get an error similar to your HRRESULTX.... error.
An option for loading the details is to build a worksheet in EVDRE, aggregate the data and send it to the cube at a level that is easy to save the file and submit consolidated results.  Just make sure you send all "like" records at an aggregated to a base member, and send to a datasrc to identify the extra details. Then store the excel file with the input values.
    Hope this helps.
