Won't ask to save my tabs on closing all

Firefox no longer asks to save tabs before closing firefox. It warns me that it is about to close all tabs but no longer asks to save them.
Mike Kay (aka Elrikk)

My '''browser.showQuitWarning''' setting was set to '''False'''. I set it to '''True''' while ensuring that '''browser.warnOnQuit''' was still '''True'''. Now I am prompted to save my tabs when I exit.
Also, if you don't Save your session when you exit, you should still be able to restore it next time you start Firefox by clicking '''History > Restore Previous Session'''.

You should ask in Photoshop General Discussion
The Cloud forum is not about using individual programs
The Cloud forum is about the Cloud as a delivery & install process
If you will start at the Forums Index https://forums.adobe.com/welcome
You will be able to select a forum for the specific Adobe product(s) you use

  • Cannot save opened tabs before closing the browser

Cannot save opened tabs before closing the browser. I do not know if there is such a feature (should be), and how to activate it.
It was very useful with previous version.

One change in Firefox 4 is to by default stop Firefox displaying the warning message, but it can be turned back on by changing some preferences.
    # Type '''about:config''' into the location bar and press enter
    # Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
    # Locate the preference '''browser.tabs.warnOnClose''', if its value is set to '''false''', double-click on it to change its value to '''true'''
    # Repeat this for these 3 preferences '''browser.warnOnQuit''', '''browser.warnOnRestart''' and '''browser.showQuitWarning'''
If you always open the last set of tabs an alternative approach is this:
    # Click the orange Firefox button, then select options to open the options window
    # Go to the General panel
    # Change the setting "When Firefox starts" to "Show my windows and tabs from last time"

  • I want to save multable tabs when closing so when i restart i can resume previous sessions

    before the last update..
i was able to save multable tabs before turning off my computer.
when i restarted my computer i would see the same tabs as i did before i turned off my computer.
i want this feature again please
    i cannot find it anymore

Firefox now automatically saves open tabs when closing. When you re-start Firefox, do one of these:
    #Restore from History:
#*click ''Firefox button> History > Restore Previous Session''
#*click ''History > Restore Previous Session'', if using the Menu Bar
    #Restore from the about:home page:
#*type '''''about:home''''' in the Location/URL bar and choose "Restore Previous Session"
    #*See https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/common-questions-after-updating-firefox#w_why-werent-my-tabs-and-windows-restored
    #Change your home page setting:
#*Change Options > General tab, change "When Firefox starts:" to "Show my windows and tabs from last time"
    #*See [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Options%20window%20-%20General%20panel Options window-General Options]
    IMPORTANT:
*You must close Firefox using ''Firefox button > Exit/Close'' (or ''File > Exit/Close'' if using the Menu Bar) for this to work properly
*You must have "Remember my browsing history" selected; click ''Firrefox button > Options > Privacy'' (or ''Tools > Options > Privacy,'' if using the Menu Bar'')

  • My iPad mini won't update my apps.  I have closed all open apps, done multiple resets but I show 24 updates and when I hit the update, the screen is blank.

My iPad mini won't update my apps.  I have closed all open apps and done multiple resets.  I hit update and the screen is blank, even though the bubble shows 14 to update.

If you are getting the blank app update screen, many people are having this problem over the last couple of days.
According to Fly150 in another discussion, this will work.
If you want to update the Apps while waiting for Apple to fix Updates:
    1. Go to App Store
    2. Select Purchased
    3. Select All
    4. Scroll down to find the Apps showing update
    5. Select update on the Apps
This should update the Apps and get rid of the update count in App Store. Apple needs to fix this. It is a workaround only until then.

  • Won't ask to save Tabs on Close

Firefox no longer gives me the prompt to save my tabs when I hit close. How do I fix this? I tried all the suggestions in the other post. It didn't work.

Use the Tools/Options/General choose "Show my windows and .. " in the top item "When Firefox starts"
    See "UI" heading in http://kb.mozillazine.org/Browser.startup.page

  • Cannot save open tabs when closing, instructions on "help", don't; FF4 has crashed/locked several times also. Frequently have to hit link button (or back button) twice for it to work. Had MUCH better performance from previous version (Windows 7 user)

previous version asked if I wanted to save tabs when closing, not version 4. "Help" suggested checking setting but does NOT indicate what to check! (I cannot find any options/settings related to saving tabs upon closing). Second option was to rename two files, did so, did not allow saving tabs (just erased history). I liked saving tabs and am very frustrated by this.
FF has crashed a couple of times, locked a couple of times (most recently I could not even stop with windows task manager, had to reboot)
Frequently links (or "back" button) gives no response until pressed twice

forgot to add that pages are generally much SLOWER to load with version 4 than previous version. NOT progress!

  • How do I save my tabs without saving all my history like I used to?

I just reformatted last night, and reinstalled Firefox today. For quite a few years, I'd had Firefox set up to
    1) upon closing, save all my opened tabs, and the previously visited pages of those tabs
    2) save no history other than the previously visited pages of tabs I have open while browsing, and save no history upon closing beyond saving my tabs
    3) still be able to save cookies and such for sites I specifically allow
This is my computer that others occasionally use; I want to be able to closes Firefox keeping inconsequential pages I'm reading still there for my attention later, but be able to close private pages without people going through my history snooping around. I'm not willing to go one-by-one through my history deleting stuff. If I close a tab then close the browser I want that history gone; if I leave a tab open and close the browser I want that history there.
I can't seem to be able to set this up; 1) and 2) are completely eluding me. Years ago when the first add-ons were made to do it, I had my tabs saved via those add-ons; since then, (I only formatted yesterday) I think I had been doing it through Firefox's current features.
(I know there's related answers, ie "How can I save my tabs upon exiting?", but none seem to satisfy my issue)
Eh, what gives? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Regrettably dm, I got nothing out of that one. There doesn't seem to be the ability any more to set up what I had set up. Seems like I was lucky I never screwed with the settings after I had them like that. (No, I wasn't deleting my history upon each exit; I had the "Firefox doesn't save history" option selected - the only history saved was for tabs I left open when I exited. If you can tell, it sounds more related to the old "Clear History On Exit" option than the "Save No History" option today)
... it seems like Firefox is getting more bloated with each release (which comes out sooner and sooner each time!) while giving less customizability. I / we could all just be missing it (perhaps some wise Firefox techs know what I need) but the fact that I can't just go Tools--->Options and do it easy is bothersome. I'd rather have long menus (under Advanced buttons if you want to make them look pretty) than to try so hard to minimize the number of options shown, to make it look simpler, or whatever.
Rant done. I figure this problem won't be solved... gonna go check out some other browsers. Thanks anyway folks!

  • How do i save my tabs when closing ff yo reboot pc???, sometimes dialogue box warns closing down will loose tabs, sometimes its do you wish to save tabs?

    ''dupe of https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/913478''
    i already asked this question!
how do i save my tabs when shutting down ff in order to reboot??

You can give feedback to Apple at http://www.apple.com/feedback/garageband.html, this forum is only read by users!
    A couple of comments:
    2. Click on that little icon with the aligning arrows in the lower right corner of the timline, and you can stop it at any time.
    6. GB does offer markers if you make the Podcast track visible. Also, you can use the Arrange track to name portions of your song and even copy a section like a chorus to several positions in the song. A bit glitchy.
    8. GB 08 offers 24 bit recording and exporting.
    10. If you don't want the default track to appear, create a template file with all the tracks you want when starting a song and put it in your dock, so you will always have your favorite layout when you start.
I don't even know what HAS changed.
Actually, a lot. GB 08 was a major new release. For a comprehensive list of new features, see http://www.bulletsandbones.com/GB/FAQPages/WhatsNew08.html.

  • Firefox 4 sucks! Why can't I save my tabs when closing Firefox, & why can't I have a red X to stop a slow page from loading?

    NOT FASTER!! MUCH SLOWER!!
When I close Firefox, I can no longer save my tabs. WHAT GIVES?
When a new page isn't coming up, I can no longer stop it from loading & try again.
WHY do my tabs need to be above the toolbars?
I've loved using Firefox & have used it exclusively for about the last ten years, but if this is how it's always going to be now, I'm going to look for a new browser!
''moderator edited the title of this thread''

The described fix seems to work fine, and I appreciate the fast response.
Firefox developers, I've been a developer myself. Setting the default to not save tabs in Firefox 4 is going to make a lot of people VERY angry.
I'm a fairly educated user. After upgrading, the first thing I did was to check Preferences and try to make sure all settings were good to maintain what I've been accustomed to doing. I didn't take the Firefox 4 tour, but shut down the application to make sure caches were emptied. There was no warning about my multiple tabs, but it was too late to stop the process. When I opened it again, all my tabs were gone, some of which related to material or local logins that I will have a hard time re-creating.
If my wife had done this, you would have heard her swearing without benefit of phone or online chat window, no matter where your labs are. :-)
For everyone's sanity, please don't turn off the Preserve Tabs on Logout function without warning.

  • Firefox had saved my login name and password for a site, when I changed the password, FF won't ask to save/update it so I have to enter it manually now. How do I get it to prompt me in FF7.01?

Using FF7.01 on a HP Pavilion dv6775us laptop running Vista Home (updated continuously)
The site owner changed the rules in order to improve password security so I was required to create a new password. When I did so I was not prompted by FF7.01 to save the new password.
When I next logged into the site, FF remembered the user name but presented the old (invalid) password. I was forced to manually enter the new password, but again was not prompted to save it to FF.
I then went into FF Security, viewed the saved passwords and deleted the entry for the site in question. I expected that when I logged into that site the next time I would be asked if I wanted to save the username and password. I wasn't.
I then exited from FF and relaunched it and again logged into the site in question. I was not prompted to save the username or password.
How do I force FF to ask for and then save the username and password?

    Thank you for your reply.
My problem isn't removing my log-in name and password for a site.
The problem is I already had the log-in name and password saved by FF, but I was required by the site to change the password. FF did not recognize that it had changed and refuses to prompt me to save the new password.
After several attempts to force the prompt, I deleted the site from the Saved Password list, hoping that the next time I entered my log-in name and password on that site FF would ask if I wanted to save both. That did not happen even after exiting FF and relaunching it.
So, right now FF will not save my log-in name and password for a site that it used track for me. Given the complexity of the new password, I really do not want to manually enter it every time I use the site.
    Regards.

  • Safari won't ask to save password

Safari does not now fill in a password for a website that worked before.  I changed the username and password, but Safari does not ask if I want to save the password.

As per BDAqua's advice, either edit or delete the one for that site that's acting wrongly. If you can't find it there, check /Utilities/Keychain Access->login keychain and delete the one for that site. That'll cause KA to request the next time you visit and try to log in.

  • SAVING ISSUES!!! Firefox won't save passwords, won't ask to save them. I've used this for 2 years +. I know where the settings are. New comp, Windows 7, Ffx 4. Prompted to save the password 5 times and stopped

The settings are all correct. New machine. Only has the operating system and Firefox. No conflicting programs. It did 5 then stopped. Nothing has been added or changed since downloading FF.

Same issue here. I am '''NOT '''running in Private Browsing mode.
This may be an issue related to other add-ons, or not. I tried the remember-password bookmarklet with one site and it Worked! But when I looked in the saved passwords, the new userid and password were not there. I waited a few minutes and looked again, and mysteriously, it was there. Perhaps a caching issue. Exceptions box is empty.
I think this in an important issue that must be tracked and not assumed is always an operator-error.

  • How do I save my tabs when closing Firefox?

I used to be able to in the older version of Firefox. Thanks.

You mean the sites you just visited? See [[How to set the home page]] and then click the link to '''Set What Pages Open when Firefox Starts'''.

  • I lose a bunch of tabs when I exit Firefox, even though I click for it to save the tabs for next time I open it

When I use Firefox, I usually have a bunch of tabs open. Sometimes I have a tab open as a reminder to look further into the subject, or I plan on going back to it to finish reading whatever it was. Before, if my computer would restart due to updates, when I started Firefox up again, it would say "Well...this is embarrassing" and allow me to reopen all the tabs I once had. This no longer works. I was even able to close Firefox through the Task Manager on windows, and have the same result. Now this doesn't happen. So I tried to close it and it asked to save my tabs for the next time I open Firefox. It doesn't save them, as it's always just my homepage and I never see an option to recall the old tabs. I even set the settings to "When Firefox starts: Show my windows and tabs from last time." This also does not work. I'm getting tired of having to remember all over again what sites I had up. Usually they aren't something that I need bookmarked, so that's why I don't do it. Also, it would really clutter my bookmarks if I did. Please help.

Thanks for the reply. I never get the option to "Restore Previous History" from History. I don't even have the box checked that asks to delete the history when Firefox closes. I don't know what's wrong, no matter what, I always lose everything. I have the box marked "Show my windows and tabs from last time" for when I open Firefox, but it never shows that, just my homepage. Also, when I check my History, it only shows the pages that I opened since I started Firefox, nothing from before. Even if I were to open up 10 pages now, close Firefox, and open it, the history would only show the homepage that opened this time, not any of the 10 pages that I opened 5 minutes ago.
