Adobe Reader XI won't launch, can't download or open existing PDF files.

Running Windows 7 and have had no trouble with PDF files until few weeks ago. Now Adobe Reader Xi won't execute and I can't download or open existing PDF files using Adobe. Interesting that I can open existing PDF files unsit PaintShop Pro X4 but not in Adobe. Have unistalled and reinstalled Adobe Reader XI several times with no change in problem.

You can try using Windows Explorer to navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader, then double-click on Eula.exe and accept the license agreement

Itunes won't update. I download the updates, but then get an error message that they failed to install.

For many weeks now, my iTunes has failed to update. I download the updates and they go through the installation process, but then I get an error message that they failed to install. How can I update?

Wild guess but if your WinXP system has formatted your drive(s) as FAT32 then the maximum file size is 4GB. Could be that the download in 1080p is >4GB? (if formatted NTFS then this should not be a problem).
Again just a guess with iTunes on WinXP but something easy to check first.

Software Update can't download; Safari can't connect to apple (tough!)

I posted this topic in Safari but it may really be more of a networking question. I have two problems which are specific to one user account on my Tiger machine.
1) Safari can't connect to anything from Apple.com
2) Software Update can download lists of updates, but the downloads of the updates themselves never begin (hangs at 0 B of 31 MB, etc.)
Firefox is fine on apple sites from this account, and neither problem is present when I login to a different account.
Here are some things I've tried with no luck:
-trash com.apple.softwareupdate.plist
-move all plists out of Preferences and restart Safari
-move Safari folder out of ~/Library and restart Safari
-move everything out of ~/Library which is not present in
the working user account and restart Safari
-reinstall Safari from Tiger disc using Pacifist
I ran a port scan in Network Utility and this is what I get:

curious and curiouser! Your suggestion to Reset Safari was a great one - thanks! Resetting Safari allows access to the apple websites again. There's no new software to download from SWUpdate right now, so I can't test that, but I will test as soon as I can.
here's the weird thing though. Attempting to login to these discussion forums using Safari brings the problem back again! I type in my login info and it hangs forever while trying to load discussions.apple.com/login.jspa. Once this has happened, then I'm once again unable to load anything under apple.com in Safari, until I Reset. I thought maybe this was a Java problem so I reinstalled the latest Java, but this doesn't help. Still no problem here in Firefox.

Thank you for your question, I am sorry you lost your mobile. If you are accessing outlook webmail from Firefox for Android, there may not be an option to download the contacts list.
I would recommend going to the site that keeps all the contacts backed up for your account.

My atv won't update to the most current firmware.

So I turned on my apple tv (2nd gen) today for the first time in a couple months and it said that there was a software update available to install. After trying to install and download it multiple times it still won't let me. I keep getting the error message "the update wasn't successful." I don't know really what to do. My Internet has been acting up a little bit lately but I would think that I would still be able to be able to download and install it after a few different tries. Thanks

IPad won't update apps or download new ones

Hi everyone. I've tried to download a free app a few times today, I get to the point where I have to put in my user ID and password and just keep getting a message saying can't connect to iTunes Store. Also I am unable to carry out any app updates. I have tried to do this on 3 different internet connections several times each. Anyone got any ideas??

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year.Then see if you can connect to the store.

10.1.0 won't update, can't change preference settings

My Vista OS seems to be preventing me from making any change to my Reader updater AND I've discovered that the settings are incorrect. I want “Automatically install updates” selected instead of “Do not download or install updates automatically” and the choice does not stay selected.
ALSO, I tried to check for updates manually-- I opened Reader, clicked on “Help” then clicked on “Check for Updates” – got message: “Update failed -- To update Adobe Reader you need administer privileges on this machine. Error 1200”
Strange, because I AM the Owner/Administrator on this machine!!
I think I have traced the possible problem to “User Account Control” as it is the window that pops up when I make a change in Reader. But I have not been able to turn the UAC on or off.
Any suggestions as to how to get out of this mess would be SO appreciated!!! I need to eventually get the latest update installed and keep the updates coming, as I'm concerned about security.

Can't download current Safari versions

Ok, I have OS X 10.2.8 and Safari 1.0.3 - can't update Safari because I don't have a newer version of OS X. Not sure what to download next, but I'm getting frustrated with my browser. I know this is a basic question, but any advice would be appreciated.

If you are remaining with OS X Jaguar, then using a more advanced browser requires something other than Safari. My alternate browser of choice is Firefox 2.0.
You can export your bookmarks to Firefox using Safari Bookmark Exporter.

App Catalog Won't Update Apps Says "Download Failed"

The app catalog on my palm pre will not update my apps. I can download new apps but I cannot update my other apps that need updating. I have tried resetting to factory settings but that didn't fix it. This problem is similar to the issue from 2010 where people where having trouble with updating and downloading apps.

unfortunatly my iphone 4 is brocken and i can't remmember what i excactly did to fix that problem but all i can think about if the application's size you want to update is small you can delete it and then download it again ..sorry, maybe someone else could help you

Try logging out of your account on the iPad by tapping on your id in Settings > Store and then log back in and see if it then works.
If that doesn't solve it then what has worked for some people is going into Settings > General > Date & Time and change the date to a few months (or maybe further) in the future and then re-trying

Can't download current upgrade on my new iMac 10.6.6--goes on forever and eventually shuts the computer down.

For about a week a pop-up window has announced a new upgrade ready to download. When i click on 'install' the bar comes up showing it is downloading, but hours later it is still going. It blocks shut down and the other night I was waked up at 3 a.m. with the computer sounding some kind of 8-beep alarm, and the download was not complete. I'm now afraid to click on install because I can't afford another shut down and hours on with help somewhere. What might be the problem? It's a new iMac 10.6.6, when I transferred and reinstalled.

I just solved the problem.
I tried copying the DVD files to the hard disk about 7-8 more times. The last try SUCCESSFULLY copied to the disk and I was able to install Photoshop CS3.

2.2.1 won't update old or download newest apps????

So I've been noticing some of the new apps as well as new app updates for apps I already own no longer load on my ipod 2gen.
I'm getting messages stating, or something like this... "this app will not run on this software version. You must update your software"
Anyone else running into this?

Apple doesn't update third-party apps. If the developer of an App decides to update it and include new features that require v3.0, that's up to the developer - nothing to do with Apple.
It's the same with desktop OS's. There are many programs that require Vista, not XP. When Windows 7 comes out, there will be programs that take advantage of features of that and won't run on Vista or XP.
If you don't want to upgrade your OS, then don't update your apps. It clearly states on the Apps page which OS it requires.

Nokia 5800 won't update apps or download apps

I just got this phone yesterday and i want to do the 3 app updates (adobe flashlite 3.1, mail exchange 2.9 and nokia messaging 10.0) that it has on the list in the application folder.
but when i press start update it tries to do them but then says 3 updates failed
also i cant get the ovi store on my phone or download anything

Well since its brand new I expect nothing would be the problem is we put the phone through formatting and firmware reinstallation. Some guy at factory must have been half asleep.
On your phone, just dial *#7370# and lock code (by default its 12345). After which, connect to PC to Ovi Suite and update software, then perform the format again. This should ensure that the system is as squeaky clean as possible.
This isnt necessarily the solution, but its sort of the "nuke it" final straw option which in this case I doubt if its a problem on a brand new mostly still empy phone.
