Word 2010 table sytles / copying tables

When I copy a table from one document to another the formatting does not stay the same.
I think the problem is that the copied table adopts the paragraph style being used in the destination document. I have tried to create a table style within the destination document but when I apply the style to the table it does not change the formatting.
The only workaround that I can think of is to create a paragraph style for the table cells and apply this to the table after it has been pasted in.
Are there any other suggestions?
Thanks!

Hi nivlektech,
Based on my understanding, you want to keep the format of table when copied to another document.
To resolve this issue, you can choose Paste Special from Home > Clipboard > Paste Option > Keep source formatting. It preserves all original formatting of the pasted selection.
There is an article about Paste option, hope it’s helpful.

If there is anything I can do for you regarding this issue, feel free to post back.

  • Word 2010 table rendered reduced, upside down and backwards on conversion to pdf

We have a Word 2010 document that includes a table, header and footer and a title paragraph with a border.
When we convert this to pdf using Word's Acrobat -> Create PDF function, we get this (converting via Print -> Adobe PDF works fine however).
Here is the above at 400% magnification.
I thought I had seen all the curveballs Word 2010 and Adobe Pro X could throw but this is a new one on me. If anyone can tell me how or why the body of this document is reduced to illegibility, positioned at the top left corner of the page, upside down and backwards on pdf conversion I would be forever in their debt. (I have a couple of "accessibility experts" telling me this du to "odd code" and I would very much like to confirm that neither of them could find their own bottom with both hands.)

I am assuming you did this with the Create PDF button. Give the print to the Adobe PDF printer a try and see if you get the same thing. You could also try the MS PDF plugin. MS has done some strange things in OFFICE 2007 and 2010 that cause heartburn for PDF creation. How much is an Acrobat issue, I am not sure -- probably a bit of an issue from both companies.

  • Problem with column break in word 2010

    Hi,
I have a 2 column document. Some how i feel it has inserted a column break in the middle of page 7 of my word document which consists of 12 pages. It is a reviewed document & tracking is also going on and 'Track Changes: On' message is also visible on my
progress bar. On page 7 i have a figure also which is one column wide. The text above this figure goes on to next column after 9th line. There is still a 3 line gap between my text & figure. But its moving the text to next column. After the figure it shows
me the text which should come after the moved text. It was showing me section break continuous but then i deleted it but still the problem persists. Please guide me how to fix this problem.

    Hello,
I have replicated and confirmed the problem with LabVIEW 2010, Report Generation Toolkit 2010 and Word 2010.  I have filed this to R&D under CAR ID #257414.  As a workaround you can manually set each cell using Word Edit Cell.vi.  I have attached a simplified representation of this unexpected behavior as well as the workaround.  Hopefully this helps everyone out!

  • Quick Parts from Word 2010 not available in Outlook 2010?

    Kinda feel daft asking this...
If I type a Autotext (Quick Part) in Word 2010 it doesn't seem to be available in Outlook 2010 and vice versa.  Each program seems to be using it's own default template.  Saving it to Building Blocks.dotx also makes no difference.
From what I've found looking around the internet it seems this is intentional and the only way to get me AutoText from Word 2010 is to copy the Normal.dotm to NormalEmail.dotm is this right?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Your question is not daft! You are right in that there are two templates that are used for Quick Parts. Indeed very annoying because why would you have to insert the same autotext twice right? Unfortunately this is how we stand now.

  • Word 2010 with Embedded Excel table becomes oversized for RDP users

I originally asked this question on the SharePoint Online forums as this was the first time we've seen this issue. Original Post
Summarized: we have a Word template with embedded Excel table created in SharePoint Online, and when a RDP user opens it, the document correctly opens in the local version of Word 2010 (not Word Online).   When the table is edited, it becomes
larger to the point you can no longer view the entire table.
We have done some testing with Word 2010 outside of RDP and everything works correctly, the embedded Excel table doesn't become oversized and works as expected.  It seems to definitely be an issue with RDP and I've been looking for any assistance
on resolving this issue.  I recently did some further testing and found that the only time the table becomes oversized and not view-able is when you copy and paste information from an existing 2003 Excel document.  I would think this is the issue,
but it doesn't happen when working with Word and SharePoint outside of an RDP environment.
The template is a .docx file. All RDP users are in a 2008 R2 environment.

I did some testing over the weekend and the simple answer to your question - Not always.
I found 2 variables which seem to cause this to happen:
    1) We have 2 TS servers - one with IE 9, which remains to maintain support for a legacy app which will not work with IE 10 or 11, and one with IE 10.
    2) Screen resolution of the client computer - it seemed that systems with video configurations which could not exceed the maximum of 1280x1024 (the same screen resolution as our TS servers) didn't experience the issue.  There were some laptops
and higher end systems with widescreen monitors, where this was an issue.  They typically didn't have a 1280x1024 option; yet even if they did they would experience the same issue, just not as pronounced.
It also seems to only occur when a user copies and pastes information from Excel 2010 into the embedded Excel table in Word 2010.  Again, only within RDP.  On those client computers which had the problem, I could perform the same function outside
of RDP without any problems.  However, this is not an ideal format for the chefs as they will frequently be moving between different systems during the day.

  • The appearence of tables in some Word 2010 documents changes after KB2880529

I wanted to alert you that, since our company has applied
KB2880529, some users are reporting Word 2010 documents (docx) having their appearence changed.
More precisely, the issue concern the table inserted in the Word document : They are all messed up. For exemple, the begining of the table can look ok, then a few lines of the table are
badly miss aligned (like moved 2 cm to the right), then you've got a few normal lines, then again several bads, and so on.
Also, some of the cells, that were in the last column of the table, may appear half outside of the table.
And the worse part is that, even if you take some time to manualy fix the table, when you save the document and re-open it, everything is bad again, and exactly as it was before... so basicaly
the save doesn't work for the tables (it work if you change some text in the table, but not for the table itself (size of the columns, location of the columns, so on)).
I can't profite any file because they are of a very sensitive nature and can't leave our company, even if I remove most of the content, our IT security doesn't allow it.
    Anyway :
    - we are absolutly sure it's
KB2880529 that does that because when we uninstall the KB, and re-open the document, it look normal again.
    - it seems to concern only documents that were created using some old Word 2003 templates some time ago, and then opened in Word 2010. As far as I know it doesn't happens on 100% Word 2010
    documents.
So, we are currently doing a package installed by SCCM 2012 in order to uninstall it on all the PC which received it a few days ago.
Let's hope you'll correct that issue... and if possible that, in a near futur, you'll had a feature in SCCM 2012 to allow us to unintall KBs, like it was possible with WSUS.

I'm sure there are some ways to fix the files one by one. Indeed, our tests indicate that it's possible, for exemple, to open them in "LibreOffice 4.2" (a fork of OpenOffice), which displays them correctly, and then save the file in .doc and then use
Office 2010 to open this .doc and save it in .docx.
But what I've forget to indicate is that the issue touch probably thousands of documents that have been placed in a "document management application" (I'm not sure how to correctly translate) over the years, documents that may be hundreds of users need to
look at, for reference, from time to time... but basicaly the documents are "frozen" / archived, they must not be edited by anybody.
I very much doubt you can expect MS to not apply updates, including via the next Service Pack, just because some tables in some of your documents are corrupt. Besides which, the same problem will quite likely resurface when you next upgrade to a newer version
of Office. Ultimately, someone is going to have to check out all the documents with tables and verify their content. The scope of that project might be narrowed down after you've checked a few documents and found some common features between those with the
corrupt tables. It's easy enough to write a macro to test the files to see which ones have tables. That can serve as the first step in narrowing the scope of the project. It's also possible have the macro that repairs the files restore their
original time/date stamps if that's important.
An entirely different approach would be to temporarily uninstall the update on one PC. Then use that PC to convert all the documents to PDF. Then use the PDFs in the "document management application". Since the documents "must not be edited by anybody" the
PDF format is inherently more secure in that regard and can have security attributes set to prevent printing and/or content copying. The PDF format is also impervious to Word's tendency to change document layouts whenever you do little things like updating
printers or changing between doc & docx formats.

  • Labview 2013 report generation toolkit word 2010 insert table problem

    Hi,
I am currently evaluating LV2013 with respect to the report generation toolkit for use with word 2010. My Vi/program won't insert the correct table and gives me an error message. see below:-
Exception occured in Microsoft Word: The requested member of the collection does not exist.Help Path is wdmain11.chm and context 25421 in NI_ReportGenerationToolkit.lvlib:Word_Insert_Table.vi->NI_Word.lvclass:Append Text Table to Report.vi->Word Table save.vi
I have since run the following word example.vi provided by NI within LV2013 office examples:- Growable table.vi. this gives me the same error!
Exception occured in Microsoft Word: The requested member of the collection does not exist.Help Path is wdmain11.chm and context 25421 in NI_ReportGenerationToolkit.lvlib:Word_Insert_Table.vi->NI_Word.lvclass:Append Text Table to Report.vi->Growable table.vi
It would seem that regardless of my own Vi there is a fundamental problem in the office example vi.
I have found examples of a similar problem in LV2011/2012 but the work around code doesn't seem to match the LV2013 vi's code for a direct replacement.
Can anyone help/shed some light on this?
    Thanks in advance,
    Dan.

Because the upgrade of Word from 2007 to 2010 I needed to upgrade an existing application from LabVIEW 2009 to 2013. This didn't work because of the insert table error. I discovered that the problem is the vi called "Word_Insert_Table.vi" located in the ..Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2013\vi.lib\addons\_office\_wordsub.llb. There is a "Cut" command implemented, this command removes the created cell instead of clearing it. Therefore the table will be filled half and then returnes with an error. I have removed this command. I have posted the changed vi (LV 2013).

  • Lines in shaded table cells do not render properly in pdf created in Word 2010

When creating a pdf with shaded table cells using MS Word 2010; the black lines in the shaded table cells do not show up when looking at the page at a fit page view (anything under  around 60%). They print, they are there when I zoom in, but will not show up if you zoom out.
I read a forum post in Adobe here which gave some really logical suggestions, but they didn't seem to work for everyone or the level of effort was not what i can put into it. I also tried some of those and variations of those; but they didn't seem to work.
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/305508
Did anyone come up with a solution? Some people were saying it's a bug in pdf software, if that is the case, has anyone heard of a resolution?
I'm using Windows 7 and word 2010 btw, to create the pdf.
    Thanks!!

Just as a test, have you tried the MS plugin for PDF creation? I have found with other versions of WORD and Acrobat that PDF Maker and the MS plugin can both fill in dots and dashes on vector graphics (basically what the border is) and yet it comes out correctly with printing to the Adobe PDF printer. Unfortunately I do not have a solution. In my case, it seemed to be related to the vector graphic itself (I could import it to InkScape or other vector graphic tool and save to EMF and it then worked fine. It may be something that MS themselves have messed up in OFFICE 2013. Good luck.

  • Create PDF Acrobat X Pro - does not display embedded excel 2010 tables in word 2010 properly

    Hello,
I bought Acrobat X Pro and the first document I used 'Create PDF' on was a Word 2010 document with embedded (read linked) Excel 2010 tables.
When I opened the document after creating it the linked tables had a little arrow in the corner of a white box with a help text message of "click here to activate". The pdf is basically unusable.
Is there a setting to ensure that these embedded excel tables are created as normal tables - I do not want to have to keep pasting in tables/images into my Word documents when they are all updating automatically.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

    Hello,
i am having exactly the same issue with Acrobat X Pro - with linked Excel 2010 tables in Word 2010.
Has there been a resolution to this eissue - it is potentially very time consuming to work around this issue for me.
I would post my files but I don't know how to attach them to the thread - only my second post .

  • Bookmarks are not automatically creating based on Word 2013 Table of Contents.

Bookmarks are not automatically creating based on Word 2013 Table of Contents.  In older version of Word, the Style built Table of Contents converted into Bookmarks when PDFing.

I figured it out.  There is a new checkbox you must turn on in Word 2013 when export to PDF that allows it to convert items to Bookmarks when PDFing.

  • Access 2010 table has too many fields for web database - how to split into two web-compatible tables?

    Hello,
I'm in the process of converting an Access 2010 database into a web database and I'm having some trouble. I have a table which has 236 fields, which is more than the 220 field limit for web-compatible tables. I have tried to split this table into two tables
with a one-to-one relationship, but web tables can only use lookups as relationships. I've tried to connect the tables with a lookup and then synthesize a one-to-one relationship by using data macros but I'm not having much luck.
I realize that 236 fields is a lot, but it must be set up this way because each field represents a tasks and is a yes/no box to verify that the task has been completed - and the records are different employees for whom which the tasks need to be completed.
Could someone please help me figure out a way to make this table web compatible?
    Thank you,

    t e s t - 10 characters
How I can load the chinese word properly in the table?
    Thanks.

    Hi .
You can use these method in sequence as follow:
    1)  CALL METHOD cl_gui_frontend_services=>file_open_dialog
this method let the user choose a file form his computer ad return the file path (ex.: C:/..../file.txt)
    2) CALL METHOD cl_gui_frontend_services=>gui_upload
this method upload the file and return the file content.
After you got the content of the file you can store it inot a custom table .
There are similira merhod for the inverse problem (file download).
