Workaround for Invalid Certificate with Acrobat 9.0 and Adobe Reader v.7.0?

Hello!
In Adobe Acrobat 9.0 Professional, is there currently a workaround for the following scenario?:
At our company, the source document is created in Word and then a PDF document is created using Adobe v.9.0. My colleague, who uses Adobe 9.0 Professional, places a certificate in the Header of the PDF document.
When this document goes out for sign off, the users only have Adobe Reader v. 7.0. Once these users open the PDF document and try to place their signature in to the digital signature fields, the certificate in the document becomes invalid.
Is there a way to save off the PDF in v.9 in different formats (A, F, etc.).
Would saving off the PDF in another format retain the validity of the certificate in the PDF document when other users with Reader v.7.0 try to sign the document?
Thx again for everyone's help!

I am using Adobe Reader X on a laptop with Windows Vista OS and Adobe Reader XI on an older laptop with Windows XP OS.  While filling out the same form on each computer, I have found that I can save info on the older laptop, but not on the newer one.  This is a big problem.  I must be able to save on the newer computer.  Do I need to buy a new computer with a more up-to-date OS?  Please help.

Adobe Reader X can only save reader-enabled forms. Adobe Reader XI can save all forms.

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro X and Adobe Reader 9 compatibility with Mac.

Does Adobe Acrobat Pro X version 10.0.0 and Adobe Reader 9 version 9.2.0 work with Maverick or Yosemite? I don't mind to have a Maverick OS (though may not be easy to get unless old stock).

  • With OSX10.7.5 and Adobe Reader 11.0.02 when I try to open a PDF downloaded from the web I get 'There was an error opening this document. This file is damaged and could not be repaired. Preview will not open either. Older PDFs OK.

I am running OS X 10.7.5 and Adobe Reader 11.0.02. In the last few days I have been unable to open PDF's downloaded from the web. Reader gives the error message 'There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired'. Removing Reader and trying to use Preview to open these files give the error 'Preview cannot open this file. It may be damaged or use a file format that Preview doesn't recognise' (or something like that). Downloading the same files with Reader removed from my Mac Preview opens the files OK.
I was recently prompted to update Adobe software but did not note exactly what the update was nor when it was done.
Reader and Preview will both open PDFs I downloaded a week ago. Reader will also open files downloaded on another Mac running OS X 10.0.0 and copied to my Mac. Any ideas?

    Back up all data.
Triple-click the line of text below to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

  • Acrobat standard 8 and Adobe Reader X

    Good afternoon all,
I am having an issue with users who are using Adobe Reader X who want to digitally sign PDF's. From researching this I found that I have enable the Reader usage rights on the document which can be done from Acrobat. All the forums I have read on this are using Acrobat Pro rather than Standard 8 which I have. When I go to the advanced options to enable these usage rights the option is not there. I am wondering if I am missing something or if this feature is not included in standard. If the option is there does anyone know the steps toe nable this so I may sign the PDF's from the users machines which have Adobe Reader X. Any help would be much appreaciated.
    Thanks!

So Acrobat Standard does not allow you to do this?

  • Shared review feature between Acrobat 9 pro and Adobe Reader???

I have a question about Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro & the Shared Review feature.  I hope that it allows me to take a pdf document, share it with others that only have the free Adobe Reader (not Standard or Pro Acrobat), and allow them to markup the document and send it back to me so I can save  the new  marked up pdf document.  Is that what Shared Review does, or do the others have to also own a paid copy of some Acrobat program (Standard, Pro, etc.)?
    Thanks in advance!

That’s correct. Others can participate using Reader in the shared reviews.

  • I have a PC with Windows 7 Professional and Adobe Reader.  Adobe keeps auto changing all dates in a PDF.  HELP!!

I am trying to complete an interactive PDF for an insurance company.  The form has several dates that need to be completed, like my DOB, date of training and date of current medical certificate.  If I enter data in one of the date fields, it automatically changes all the dates.  Obviously, these dates are all different, but it will not allow me to make them different.  This is also happening for the address fields.  I need to be able to input my personal address and the address where I completed my training.  I have already went to: Edit- Preferences- Form and unchecked the "automatically calculate field values" box, and  turned "auto complete" off.  Still automatically changing all similar fields with same data!!  Please help!!

It's happening because the creator of the form did a terrible job at it and just copy&pasted the fields, which means they are identical copies of one another. You can't do anything to prevent that from happening. Report the issue to the insurance company. They need to sort it out on their end.

  • Can I obtain a CD-ROM with the latest revision of Adobe Reader for a Windows XP system w/ Service Pack 3. I do not want to go online with this system. I have dedicated it to read all of my PDF Files only.

I have 4 computer systems, 2 of which run under Windows XP w/ Service Pack 3. I have dedicated these systems to the task of reading all of my PDF Files which I have collected from my recent college career. The desktop system I want to use is an old Dell Optiplex GX240 with Acrobat Reader 4.0. The other Windows XP system I have is an old HP Laptop with Adobe Reader 8.1.4 installed. I want to update both systems to the latest version that is available for Windows XP w/Service Pack 3 installed. So, because I do not want to place these system online, would it be possible for me to obtain a copy of the Adobe Reader software I need on a CD-ROM? - Ken DeWitt, a 68-Year-Young Vietnam Veteran and recent college graduate...Summa Cum Laude.

  • Problem viewing forms. This form is not supported with the current version of Adobe Reader.Upgrade to the latest version for full support. That does that mean exactly?

Problem viewing forms. This form is not supported with the current version of Adobe Reader.
Upgrade to the latest version for full support.
What exactly do I need to do?

That means you were probably using Adobe Acrobat to view PDF's. Acrobat is totally unnessary, you can view PDF's in Preview (Applications - Preview).
BTW PLEASE complete your profile. It's very difficult to help  someone when they don't provide any information about their system. You can easily do this by clicking Your Stuff in the upper right of this page, then click Profile and fill in the pertinent information.

  • Drop Down Field issue with Acrobat 8.0 and Acrobat 7.0

    Hi All,
I have a dynamic table with a drop down field  which will be filled from a WD context. The minimum row count for the table is  one.
The problem is i was able to get the Drop down values for all the rows  in Acrobat Reader 8.0 and i was able to get drop down values only for the first row(minimum row count is one) in Acrobat Reader 7.0.
    What could be the difference?
    Thanks
    Gopal

It's a result of Mozilla's annoying rapid-update policy. We can load plugins (i.e. can display a PDF file within the Firefox window) but cannot load extensions (the toolbar) unless they are marked as compatible with the running version of the browser. Not only is that version now changing every 6 weeks, but developers are forbidden to mark an extension as being compatible before the new version is released to market (i.e. we cannot certify against betas). With each major release in the new Mozilla rapid cycle, the type of code Adobe uses (binary XPCOM) has to be recompiled from scratch - so as of right now the Create PDF extension doesn't work in FF7 even if you turn off compatibility checks. It should work, but Firefox won't allow it to execute.
It means that every time Mozilla pushes a new major version to the public, XPCOM extension developers have to push an update as well. Adobe already get hammered for requiring users to update too often! However, each time Acrobat and Adobe Reader push a scheduled patch they should catch up with whatever version of FF exists at that time. The next Acrobat Family patch is due mid-January.
It's not just Adobe who are affected by this - many other vendors include FF extensions with their products (as opposed to having them as standalone items on the Mozilla site) and cannot realistically bring out new versions of their software every time Firefox flips up a digit.

  • What index is suitable for a table with no unique columns and no primary key

    alpha datatype- string
    beta datatype-integer
    gamma datatype-integer
    col1,col2,col3 are all string datatypes.
Note:columns are not unique and we would be using alpha, beta, gamma to uniquely identify a record .Now as you see my sample data this is in a table which doesnt have index .I would like to have a index created covering these columns (alpha, beta, gamma) .I
beleive that creating clustered index having covering columns will be better.
What would you recommend the index type should be here in this case.Say data volume is 1 milion records and we always use the alpha, beta, gamma columns when we filiter or query records
what index is suitable for a table with no unique columns and primary key?

Many thanks for your explanation .
When I tried querying using the below query on my heap table the sql server suggested to create NON CLUSTERED INDEX INCLUDING columns    ,[beta],[gamma] ,[col1]
     ,[col2]     ,[col3]
    SELECT [alpha]
          ,[beta]
          ,[gamma]
          ,[col1]
          ,[col2]
          ,[col3]
      FROM [TEST].[dbo].[Test]
    where   [alpha]='10100'
My question is why it didn't suggest Clustered INDEX and chose NON clustered index ?

Is it possible to search for multiple folders with the same name and then select them all and change the permissions on just those folders .i.e. Search for the budget folders in all client folders and lock them down to just the project managers. Without having to go to each folder and apply the permissions.

  • Trusted certificates from your previous version of Adobe Reader were found.

After upgrading Adobe Reader from 10 to 11, some users are getting "Adobe Reader Security - Trusted certificates from your previous version of Adobe Reader were found.  Would you like to import them."  I need to know what registry settings we can modify to either set this automatically to "Import" or "Use Default"  I need to add one of these options into our Adobe Reader Settings GPO that is using group policy preferences.  This only appears for users who have data in C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Acrobat\10.0\Security and only the very first time the user opens Adobe Reader after the upgrade per user profile on a given server.

I'm not sure this is true: "If they don't exist then there is no dialog. " Could be, but I've never heard of it.
However, acrodata files perform a number of functions for several features, so removing them is unwise. Also, they will just come back when a user exercizes certain features.
Better to just turn off the feature with the supported preference.
