Workflow 2013 run weekly

I have a workflow 2013 that is started by a custom list when the user hits the submit button. I need to have the workflow run on a weekly basis. The timeframe is based upon the start and end dates that the user originally entered into the custom list.
Thus is there a way to have the workflow run on a weekly basis? Is there some kind of a background workflow 2013 process that can be executed to run the workflow on a weekly basis? In the original workflow, is time a command that will tell the workflow to
run on a weekly basis?
Basically can you tell me how to have a workflow 2013 run on a weekly basis based upon start and end dates?

Hi,
Please refer to the following article.

  • SP 2013 Running Workflow giving Error - Sorry Something went wrong

    Hi,
We have publish workflow running on a document and we need to cancel/ terminate it.
On the workflow Page we can see under the "Running Workflows" , the workflow is running. But when we click on that it gives the Something went wrong error message. As we are not able to goto the workflow status page on UI, we dont get option to
    End the workflow.
To Cancel the workflow we tried following things -
    1. Powershell command to get the workflow object and cancel it. But using the powershell command- $listItems.Workflows does not give the instance of this stuck workflow. If we start new workflow on that item , it will get added to the count but this stuck
workflow does not come under its count. So we are not able to get its instance using powershell and cancel it.
    2. Using client side programming we tried directly passing the workflow instance name and terminate it but it gives the exception that "given key was not present in the dictionary"
    string workflowGuid = "91ee281b-3938-45a5-9bb2-8bd128bfa90c";
    var workflowServicesManager = new WorkflowServicesManager(clientContext, clientContext.Web);
    var workflowInstanceService = workflowServicesManager.GetWorkflowInstanceService();
    WorkflowInstance instance = workflowInstanceService.GetInstance(new Guid(workflowGuid));
    workflowInstanceService.SuspendWorkflow(instance);
Please let us know how to get rid of this stuck workflows.
    prashant

    Hi Prashant,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to cancel the stuck workflows in SharePoint 2013.
If the workflow is designed in SharePoint, I recommend to go to the Workflow Settings of the document library, click Remove, Block, or Restore a Workflow to remove the workflow with the stuck instances and then republish the workflow from Designer to SharePoint.
Or you can use the code in the link below to cancel all the workflow instances to see if the issue still occurs:

  • Workflows 2013 and SQL Report Services: Configure on Independent Servers or Existing App Servers?

Currently, my SharePoint 2013 Farm has Workflows 2013 and SQL Report Services installed on app servers, along with other applications. Workflows 2013 isn't working correctly (installed prior to my coming on board with the organization), I'm assuming it
is a configuration issue, but rather than re-configure, I've read that is recommended to be a standalone server. It was also recommended by a MSFT rep that our report services have its own independent server. Currently, Report Services is also installed on
an app server that runs other applications on the farm.
Has anyone had any experience with installing Workflows 2013 and/or SQL Report Services on independent vs. existing application servers?
Additionally, my existing application servers have 24 GB of RAM (I believe the recommendation for SharePoint production environments is 12 GB), should I plan for the potentially new servers (Workflows and Report Services) to also have 24 GB of RAM? Not really
sure if it will be needed if they have dedicated tasks.
Thanks for any input you can provide!

It entirely depends on load. WFM will work just fine installed on servers in the SharePoint farm. SSRS preferably should go on the end-user facing servers for better performance.
The questions you're asking are all "it depends" :)

I have an iMac 2013 running OSX 10.9.4. I want to use Carbon Copy Cloner to backup user files to an external hard drive to free up space on my iMack Hard drive.
So, say I make the backup today, delete iphoto libraries from my iMac, and then backup my iMac in a week. What happens to the iphoto libraries that are on the external backup drive now that I am backing up the iMac where they no longer exist?
I will have them backed up to a separate second external drive as well.
I'm just very cautious about removing them from the hard drive.
Thanks for helping and understanding my crazy caution!

I'd like to store my Aperture /IMovie Libraries on an external hard drive.
That is fine and recommended.. use the fastest disk you can afford.. ie Thunderbolt>USB3>FW800>USB2.
In addition, I'd like to partition the external hard drive so that Time Machine can use it to both back up my IMac and the external library drives.
Let me be clear.. you want to partition the one disk.. use it for TM and move your files to the external disk.. and then backup to the same disk.. You can do it.. but that is not a backup.. that is an experiment in how long you can get away with running files and backups on the same disk before you lose everything.. like Russian Roulette.. pull the trigger enough times and laws of probability will do you in.
You must have backups on a different disk .. otherwise it is pointless.
Can I set up a RAID 5 format for redundancy?
No.. you can buy special USB and Thunderbolt external drives that support RAID..
BUT that is still not a backup.. let me show why.. you make a silly move and corrupt your file in aperture.. it is not that rare.
Raid will corrupt all copies of the files.. it is replicated across all disks.
Delete a photo it is deleted across all disks.. you have no recovery.
Alway, always consider RAID system one disk.. backup onto another disk.. and if the photos or movies are at all important to you.. ie your family .. make another copy and store in a relatives house.. There is no such thing as too much redundancy.

  • Sync workflows not running

    Hi all,
I'm currently upgrading a CRM 2011 installation to CRM 2013 and there's a couple of areas which are using REST EndPoint in JavaScript to grab data from parent records. I was looking forward to trying out real time workflows and I've written these and activated
them but nothing happens. I've been on a few web sites to check how they should be set up and they're as they should be but when I change the relevant field on the form, nothing appears to happen.
Should the update happen immediately or, like some traditional workflows, might it take a moment or two before starting - I'd have guessed, as they're called 'real time' workflows, they should update pretty quickly.
Is there anything else on the system that I have to set up?
Just in case anyone wants to know; I've left the 'run in background' check box empty, the trigger condition is a change to a single field on the form with 'after' selected, they are set to run as workflow owner who is a system admin and they're published.

    Hi Jon,
A few clarifications please so we might be able to help you out. By "I change the relevant field", I am sure you mean update the field (so change it AND press Save) correct? Workflows trigger on the update of fields, not on change (JScript does
    that for you).
A few more: Do these same workflows run asynchronously? And, are we sure it is not the logic implemented - For instance, does a simple Update Record workflow with no other steps fail to work as Sync but is successful Async? Is it possible some of this Javascript
is changing the value for this particular field and it might be conflicting with the workflows?
In response to your question, no, normally in order to set the Workflow as Sync the checkbox you mention has to be empty (Convert to Real-Time workflows - on top of the screen). And yes, Sync workflows would run pretty quickly after the update is performed.

  • Workflow 2013 be executed by another user

A workflow 2013 is calling workflow 2010 to run an impersonate step to lower the permissions on the custom list to 'read only'. once the user submits the custom list to the workflow. After the custom list permissions are lowered to 'read only', I have
more steps in a workflow that need to be executed. Basically the custom list needs to be accepted or rejected by the 'authorized personnel' at the company and have the workflow executed as the person that did not start the workflow.
I know that I can get the rest of the workflow to run in the impersonate step in workflow 2010. However I would like to know if there is a way to have the rest of the workflow actually run in workflow 2013 as a different user other than the person who submitted
    the custom list?
Basically is there a replacement in workflow 2013 that would for the Impersonate step? Is it called something like the app model?
Basically can you tell me if there is a replacement for the workflow 2010 Impersonate step in workflow 2013? If so, can you tell me what the replacement is and how would I use the replacement?

The semi-replacement for the impersonation step is the App Step:
    http://www.learningsharepoint.com/2012/12/20/sharepoint-designer-2013-the-new-app-step/
This will not run as a specific user but as the system.

  • Workflow 2013 start another workflow 2013

In an existing workflow 2013, I need to lower the permission levels of a user so that they can not modify a custom listed after it as been submitted. Thus I am thinking of having he first workflow 2013 start another workflow 2013 before the permission level
of the custom list item is lower.
Thus can you tell me how to do the following:
    1. Have a workflow 2013 start another workflow 2013.
    2. After the first workflow 2013 is started, have the first workflow not expect the 2nd workflow to run any results. The first workflow will basically end right after it lower the permission levels of the user that submitted the custom list to workflow 2013.

  • Workflow 2013 change user executing the workflow

In a new workflow 2013, I would like to have the entire or part of the workflow to run under the id of a user that is not executing the workflow. The id of the user would have higher permissions than the user that is actually running the workflow and
would have at least 'edit' permissions.  I would like to run the workflow under a different user so that the person that is  executing the workflow will have permissions on the custom list that they submitted to the workflow set to view only. Thus
once the permissions on the custom list are set to view only, the workflow would need to run as another user.
Thus can you tell me and/or point me to a link that will display how to execute a workflow 2013 with a different user that did not start the workflow? Basically the workflow would be run by a user that did not start the workflow.

    Hi scampsman,
As dmadelung said, Impersonation step is unavailable in SharePoint 2013 workflow, you can create a workflow using SharePoint 2010 platform, and use Impersonation step in this 2010 workflow.
If you want to use the function in SharePoint 2013 workflow, you can use "Start a List Workflow" to trigger the SharePoint 2010 workflow in SharePoint 2013 workflow.

  • Workflow 2013 use app model for higher security levels

In a workflow 2013, I am currently calling a workflow 2010 so that I can use the impersonate step to run steps at a higher security level than the user that submitted the workflow. In the impersonate step, everything that needs to be run at a higher security
level are placed in the impersonate step.
I have found that the app model in workflow 2013 looks like it replaces the impersonate step in workflow 2010, correct?
Due to that fact if I want to use the app model in workflow 2013 instead of using the impersonate step in workflow 2010, will I need to place all actions and conditionals within in the app model step for everything that needs to be executed at a higher security
level? If so, can you show me how to accomplish this goal?
If this is not true, what actions and steps do I need to place within the app model so that those actions and conditionals occur at a higher security level?

    Hi wendy,
What is app model in SharePoint 2013 workflow? Based on your description, it seems like “App Step”. Is it right?
“App Step” provides all the workflow actions added to it, with Read from and Write to Permissions to all the Items in the Site.
App Step is not available by default you need to activate Workflows can use app permissions feature in your Site to get this displayed for that site in SharePoint Designer.
You need to place all actions and conditionals within the App Step for everything that needs to be executed at a higher security level.

  • Workflow 2013 is not removed from library after retract

    Hello.
I created a test workflow 2013 in VS 2013, while adding this workflow to the project I selected document library for it and also selected pre-created tasks and history lists.
I deployed the worklow from VS project menu, then started it manually in the library, worflow completed successfully.
After it I called "Retract" from VS project menu, it completed without errors, but teh workflow stayed in library. Then I deployed it again, went to the library workflow settings, removed the workflow, retracted it again using VS project menu.
But, now when I go to library - workflow setings - add workflow, I still can see there my workflow option (though the solution is retracted and feature is removed from site collection).
What should I do to remove it?

How do I set up my devices to wirelessly synch my Notes using iCloud among iPad, iPhone 5S and Outlook 2013 running on Windows 8.1?

    Hey bwind,
You will want to first create an iCloud account, if you haven’t already:

Next, sign in to that iCloud account on your iPhone and iPad, and turn on the syncing for notes:

Then you will want to download the iCloud Control Panel for Windows:

You will find your notes in their own section on Outlook:
    iCloud: Notes overview

On your Windows computer, your changes are pushed to Microsoft Outlook in the Notes folder of your iCloud email account. You can see your iCloud notes by expanding your iCloud email account in the Outlook folder pane (also called the navigation pane), then selecting the Notes folder in the email account.
Take care, and thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities.

    Hi,
I'm using Designer Workflow 2013, in that i need to Start a Task process. In that there is no option for Task Expiry i can find only Due Date.
In Workflow 2010 there is an option for Task Expiry so if the task is not responded within specified amount of time i can able to perform some operation then it will continue with the workflow. But in Workflow 2013 there is no option for Task Expiry.
Any help will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ahamed

    Hi Ahamed,
I still recommend to use SharePoint 2010 workflow instead.
If you want to use 2013 workflow, I recommend to create another workflow and use retention policy to start the workflow when the due date expires.
The workflow can be created like the image below(as only due date needs to be changed, we can update the due date and send notification with the task URL to the user):
