Workflow from ACR or LR into PS?

I want to shoot some RAW photos that will be both printed and displayed on various devices, and will be using both ACR and LR to do basic processing before going into PS.
1. What is the best quality file to save my RAW file into before going to PS from either ACR or LR? A .PSD?
2. What should I do with the color space before going into PS? Do I save it as Adobe RGB?
Thank you.

I always process Raw to .PSD and have Photoshop's color space set to Adobe RGB (1998) as well as my DLSR set to Adobe RGB (1998).
Your accumulation of an image through the workflow should be as follows...
First: Your Philosophy.   Create the Largest and Cleanest and Densest File you can and think as if one day you will need the file/image for a huge 60 inch print.
In other words,  build a large file for the future as opposed to a small file size for today use.  Some day you will want to make a big print, if all you have is a small file you will wish you made it big to start with.   You can always make a smaller print from a large file, but not the other way around.
I use ACR to roll into Photoshop at 300 dpi 8 bit.  As soon as the RAW file opens in Photoshop, I save it as .PSD
Work it up, with many Layers and Save the file as nnnn-Layered.psd  (new name so you don't write over the first .PSD file
When done I flatten the file and Save it as  nnnn-Flattened.PSD
Now the last saved file is Cropped and Resized for other uses as  nnnn-Cropped.PSD
Now I will resize it for email sized .JPG  and save   nnnn-small.JPG.
Now I have I have 6 generations of my prized image...  CR2 original,   1st PSD from ACR,    PSD layered,    PSD flattened,   PSD cropped and finally   JPG small for email.
Everyone's workflow differs depending on there end usage of the image.  But always have the best images ready for any changes in end usage.
I have a friend that never makes hi-res PSD files and tries to make a large print from a cheesy JPG.  Good luck.  JPGs have limitations.
Thank God for 3 TB Harddrives.
What can I say,  I'm a Pixel Hoarder.

  • Export to .exr / .hdr / floating point format from ACR?

    Hi!
    Context is that I'm doing HDRI images for rendering so dynamic range is the most important aspect.
    I searched hard but didn't found a way to export from ACR into a floating point format which is very very very annoying because if you export as 16bit tiff it will obviously clip whatever values you have in your raw file. I can load the raw / dng files directly into Photomatix / Oloneo but then I'm losing any kind of Camera Profile / Distortion profile embedded with them.
    Oh and I don't want to use Photoshop to Merge the HDRI files because I want to have control over the deghosting and various other alignement related stuff. I'm really searching for a .dng / .raw to .exr conversion.
    Any ideas?
    KS

    I would benefit from first class raw demosaicing, noise reduction, undistortion, optional color profiling, etc... before sending that to merging in whatever software that is not the specialty to do what ACR does perfectly
    Getting linear data out would be the step after all the ones I described and I wouldn't change any exposure, recovery, black level, tone curve, etc ... related options so that the HDRI merge is predictable. That's where the problem resides.
    Lets say you have a photo with a bright sky, you load it in ACR, with everything to zero. Your sky is white and burnt ( But you actually have data from the raw file because you have checked it by changing the exposure compensation to -5 ) If you export the image as is without the exposure compensation, the sky data is clipped once casted to integer.
    If you export it with the exposure compensation, the HDRI merge will be very very bad because the software will have an image with the data where the exposure has been shifted but still exhibit the exif data from the original file.
    Of course you can merge with the tiff without the compensation and rely on a faster exposure to fill the missing data, it works but when you hit your latest fast exposure and you see that you would be able to pump even more dynamic range from it but that ACR clipped the data it's very frustrating.
    I now hope it's crystal clear and why I would like to get a linear exr output I can also upload a raw file somewhere for people having trouble understanding the issue.
    In the best case scenario Adobe will provide a solution, but if it happens it will not be before a while, in the worst case there won't be any solutions at all. With that in mind I wrote a Python script that generates for me the tail exposures for my bracketing sequences and modify accordingly the exif data.
    My workflow is the following for now:
    - Dump raw images from camera.
    - Apply neutral preset, noise reduction on all the raw files.
    - Praise Adobe for ACR.
    - Launch the Python script that:
         - Generates a subfolder where all the raw and xmp files are copied.
         - Images are renamed reordered by their exposure time.
         - The tail exposure is duplicated 3 times.
         - The xmp files are updated with exposure compensation ( -1, -3, -5 ). Now I get the dynamic range.
         - The raw files exif data is altered to reflect the exposure compensation.
    - Load the new raw files from the subfolder and convert them to tif.
    - Rant against Adobe
    - Merge to HDRI with my proper dynamic range.

  • Open as "Smart Object" from ACR to PS questions.

    I have 2 questions associated with opening from ACR as a Smart Object in Photoshop. I'm using CS4.
    1. Is there a way to retrieve the original filename (complete with path) using a script or a setting somewhere to do this? I'm currently using Bridge Talk to ask Bridge what the active folder is then adding that to the document's .name property and taking off the " as Smart Object-1" part. Then I add a .psd extension to it and then I have to save it to retain that name unless there's an answer to #2 below.
    2. Is there a way to change the Document's name as described above from "Filename as Smart Object-1" to "Filename.psd" without actually saving it?
    It seems to me there would be a simple way that I might be overlooking here.
    Thanks
    Mike

    Sorry, I guess I need to explain better.
    I wrote a script to do this, but here is this portion of the workflow:
    1. Open CR2 file in ACR and make adjustments.
    2. Open as Smart Object in PS.
    3. Script Events Manager activates this script on Document Open, checks to see if it was opened as a Smart Object. We'll assume it did.
    4. The script asks me if I want to make another layer. I pick yes. The script copies the SO layer, sets an inverted mask, and opens to edit settings in ACR again.
    5. I adjust the settings for that layer in ACR and click OK.
    The script will keep looping between 4 and 5 as long as I pick YES.
    This gives me more local control of areas. If I want to bring out eyes a bit, I can up contrast, saturation, sharpness, brightness, exposure, or whatever looks best for the eyes in ACR, then unmask the eyes as much as I want on that layer in Photoshop. There is more data to pull from in the RAW file vs trying to do the same thing within Photoshop.
    Opening as a regular image file then converting to a SO doesn't give me the same control. I would have to reopen the file separately, make the adjustments in ACR, open to PS then copy that document and paste as a new layer in the original.
    Duplicating the document might work also, but I can also just save as .psd at that point since I'd have to know the path name by then anyway. I'll give that a try, though, and see if it might work better. The only catch with the save part is it slows me down waiting for it to write the file and if I have 5+ SO layers, it takes awhile. Once I unmask where I want, I flatten to a rasterized layer and continue.
    Thanks

  • Why can't I open files from ACR to CS5?

    I have been using CS5/Bridge/ACR for a year now and all of the sudden, I cannot get the RAW images from ACR into CS5.  I always open my RAW files from Bridge, make my adjustments in ACR, then select all and open images into CS5.  This has always worked just fine, but recently only a random number of images will open, if any at all!
    For example, If I select 10 images to open in CS5, it may be 4 that open, or it could be 8, or it could be 0.  I haven't done anything new to my computer.  I have uninstalled photoshop and reinstalled it twice and that hasn't helped.
    I am so frustrated.  I thought I purchased a quality product (which I have loved until now since I can't even get my files in to use the program!) and am so dissapointed that I can't use it anymore.
    Hopefully someone can help me.  I really want to use photoshop again!

    You could try to reset Bridge preferences.  Hold down the Ctrl key and start Bridge.  You should get a reset window with 3 options.

  • How do i import movies from my sony camera into iphoto?

    When I imported my photos from my sony cybershot into iphoto my videos did not come along with them. I've been using a canon with canon image browser until now and never had this problem. HELP!

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Launch Image Capture, located in the Applications folder, connect the camera and manually upload the movie files to a folder on the desktop. Then import into iPhoto.
    TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
    I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Workflow from form

    I am trying to initiate a workflow from a form. I have seen several posts in the forums and confusing. I have a form called example user form. In that form I have placed a button. I want as soon as I press the button; test workflow should initiate. Workflow should open another form 'Empty Form'
    Now as per forums I have created the workflow 'Test Workflow' with these 2 activities as below -

      <Expansion>
        <s>'Test Workflow'</s>
      </Expansion>
    </Field>---------------------------
    Not sure what am I missing or how to configure this ?

    Hello Ketan,
    thanks again so much for your response.
    I wasn't sure if you preferred that I reply you on the Forum, or via email, since you wrote down your email address.
    In response to your question..........I am not really sure how the Form is mapped. I customized the Form basically for one thing only : to CREATE USER.
    What I did was : I copied the original IDM "Create User" form, modified it the way I wanted it, and imported it back into the Repository.
    So, now, I have a fully-functional, customized form, for creating Users.
    This form contains the original "Buttons" at the end : SAVE, CANCEL, TEST, etc.
    I have no idea if it should be mapped anywhere. And, if it should, I don't know how to do this.
    When the Form is completed, and I press SAVE, everything happens at it should. The Form is saved, the new User is created.
    However, I want other things to happen, too. This is why I am so stuck on creating Workflows.
    Let me give you an example :
    For instance, the following simple script is part of my User Form (selection from a dropdown menu) :
    <Field name='orderlunch'>
    <Display class='Select' action='true'>
    <Property name='title' value='Order Lunch'/>
    <Property name='allowedValues'>
    <List>
    <String>- Please Select -</String>
    <String>Yes</String>
    <String>No</String>
    </List>
    </Property>
    </Display>
    </Field>
    A small XML code, to indicate an order for lunch.
    Naturally, if the user selects "No", then nothing happens.
    But, if he selects "Yes", then I would like the Form to send an Email Notification to the appropriate person, notifying him that lunch has been ordered. (of course, I would need to indicate such things as WHO ordered the lunch, WHEN, etc, etc. But, I will get into that later)
    In other words, if I choose "YES" for that particular variable, and then I press SAVE, to save and submit the form, then I want the Workflow to send an email notification.
    I am guessing that, the code in the Workflow will be something like the following (Please, correct me if I am wrong)
    *<eq>*
    *<ref>orderlunch</ref>*
    *<s>YES<s>*
    *</eq>*
    ----- Create a new activity ----
    *<Action id='0' application='com.waveset.provision.WorkflowServices'>*
    *<Argument name='op' value='notify'/>*
    *<Argument name='template' value='Name of Email Template'/>*
    *<Argument name='toAddress' value='toaddress'/>*
    *<Argument name='smtpHost'>*
    *<ref>SMTPhost</ref>*
    *</Argument>*
    *<Argument name='from'>*
    *<ref>from address</ref>*
    *</Argument>*
    *</Action>*
    Is this correct?
    Please, help me out here.
    Thanks again

  • Workflow from F-28 on save

    How can I start a workflow from transaction F-28 after save? I have checked change documents, and don't find anything. I have run the event trace and nothing there either. Lastly I can't find any obvious user-exits.
    Am I missing something, or is there another way to do this?

    U need to go to SPRO-> Financial accounting-> Global setting -> BTE
    Then enviorment -> Info system.
    u would need to locate a BTE at that point and then register the copy the BTE into ur own FM - u need to copy the interface of the BTE.
    The u need to come back on the BTE screen and register the BTE in settings P/S function modules.. now depending on partner or customer add it.
    put a break point in ur Fm and save document u should it should stop there
    I think SAMPLE_INTERFACE_00002218 should be the one u need.
    Hope this helps..

  • Triggering SRM workflow from a  web-based form (HTML)

    I am a beginner in SAP, please bear with me.
    I have created an online data entry form using html to populate a table in a non-SAP database. I am able to call this form in SAP EP using URL iView.
    I want some help on triggering an SRM workflow from this form.
    Thanks.

    Hi Vadim,
    I would like to explain the scenario:
    1.The form would reside in the SAP Enterprise portal
    2.When the form is completed and the "submit" button is  clicked, I expect a workflow in SAP SRM to be triggered.
    3.The workflow is a developed three-step approval workflow. It was developed using the Hierarchical Approval workflow wizard.
    Questions:
    1. How can the workflow be triggered when the submit button is clicked?
    2. How can the data from the Form be integrated into the workflow and vice versa?

  • Appearance of images changes when moving from ACR to PSE11 Editor .. why?

    I run Windows 8.1 x64 bit on my new PC and use PSE11 which opens raw files automatically into ACR.  Once I've finished editing an image in ACR I then click on 'Open Image' which transfers the part edited file to the PSE11 Editor.  Once there I perform a few additional tweaks before cropping, sharpening and saving as a jpeg.
    At about the same time as I installed PSE11 onto my new PC I became acutely aware of a change in the appearance of my images as they transferred from ACR to PSE11 Editor.  Having performed the basic adjustments in ACR and things are to my liking, the image now opens in PSE11 Editor looking rather washed out by comparison .. less contrast, maybe a little more brightness and a certain degree of reduced colour saturation.
    Obviously all images are seen on the same monitor, so any fingers pointing at calibration issues don't count in this instance!  I just need to know if there is a fix that will return me to the situation I've always had before, where the part edited ACR image looks the same when it opens in the PSE11 Editor.  I have been using PSE in various versions for a number of years and this is the first time that I've experienced this irritating problem.
    Help, please!

    Thanks for your reply Michel ...
    The colour setting in both Editor and Organiser is: 'Always Optimise Colours for Computer Screens'
    I believe this option will select the sRGB colour space by default and that the option 'Always Optimise for Printing' will default the colour space setting to Adobe RGB.  Is this so?  I only print occasionally (most of my viewing is on the monitor or the TV) but it would be nice to know if the chosen colour space chosen produce this odd effect I'm experiencing (although I sincerely doubt that it's got anything to do with it).
    This option will be used by the ACR conversion module to set the colour space of the file imported in the editor. So, you are right, the sRGB colour space is a good choice for you. What's good is that the raw file itself has NO colour space. If you have edited a raw file for sRGB, good. But you can set your editor to 'optimize for print', and you'll get an aRGB version for printing. Worth a try if you have a good printer (mine is an all-in-one with 6 inks and I can see the difference for some subjects).
    My camera (EOS 5D MkIII) is always set to sRGB.  Is this significant?
    No for raw files. That's used only for the in-camera conversion to jpeg. It's a simple tag which is ignored in the ACR conversion process (see above).
    The main issue though remains, namely the fact that part edited images look washed out in PSE Editor in spite of looking just fine in ACR a split second earlier, so I'm still looking for a remedy.
    Such a difference is often noted when a file with aRGB colour space is seen in a software that believes it's sRGB. Nothing in your worklows seems to explain that.
    Do you see a difference when you see the same edited picture in a non colour-managed software? I can't help you more for the moment.

  • Triggering Workflow from Adobe Form in ERP

    Hello,
    With SAP ERP 2005 version, Adobe Interactive forms can be created within SAP environment. Is there a way to link the SAP Adobe forms to a SAP Workflow instead of using the Adobe Workflow Designer?
    Can we trigger the approval process using SAP WOrkflow from Interactive Adobe form?
    Thanks.

    Hi Anjali,
      Interactive Forms is integrated in other environments that use workflow and make it easier to set it up:
    Guided Procedures (in NetWeaver 2004s): Fully Java-based, GP is the process component of the Composite Application Framework (CAF), and thus largely model- and not development-based. You can use an interactive PDF form in a GP for offline steps.
    Refer the link for more info on  CAF
    <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/devguide2004s -> Fundamentals -> Creating Composite Applications">CAF</a>
    The general integration into Web Dynpro, which allows you to build a workflow from scratch (requiring full workflow knowledge) and integrate the forms as steps in the workflow. Using this method, you could also integrate PDF forms into lower-release backends.
    Hope this helps

  • Binding Structure/Internal Table to Workflow from Webdynpro

    Hi Gurus,
    I have to trigger workflow from WEBDYNPRO application. For now I have two ways they are:
    1. Triggering WFLow using SAP_WAPI_START_WORKFLOW (Successfull):
    How could I bind Structure/Internal Table (DDIC referred structure) to workflow directly. Presently I am mapping indvidual fields which makes my code complex using FM SAP_WAPI_START_WORKFLOW.
    2. Triggering WFLow using SAP_WAPI_CREATE_EVENT (Bindind issues):
    Also When I try to submit using BOR event with SAP_WAPI_CREATE_EVENT workflow triggers successfully But I cannot able to bind the values. So are there any specific configuration need to be made.( like making task as General while triggering workflow using SAP_WAPI_START_WORKFLOW).

    Hi
    Please make use of the below code
    INCLUDE cntn01_swc.
    DATA lt_kna1    TYPE TABLE OF kna1.
    DATA lt_cont    TYPE TABLE OF swcont.
    DATA lv_wiid    TYPE          sww_wiid.
    swc0_create_container  lt_cont.
    SELECT * FROM kna1 INTO TABLE  lt_kna1 UP TO 10 ROWS.
    swc0_set_table lt_cont 'CUST' lt_kna1.
    CALL FUNCTION 'SWW_WI_START'
      EXPORTING
        creator                      = sy-uname
        task                         = 'WSXXXXXXXX'
        do_commit                    = 'X'
      IMPORTING
        wi_id                        = lv_wiid
      TABLES
        wi_container                 = lt_cont
      EXCEPTIONS
        id_not_created               = 1
        read_failed                  = 2
        immediate_start_not_possible = 3
        execution_failed             = 4
        invalid_status               = 5
        OTHERS                       = 6.
    IF sy-subrc <> 0.
      MESSAGE ID sy-msgid TYPE sy-msgty NUMBER sy-msgno
              WITH sy-msgv1 sy-msgv2 sy-msgv3 sy-msgv4.
    ENDIF.
    The other way to do is you  can also make use of OO ABAP classes to trigger the workflow. If you want to create a rfc function module then create a wrapper function module .
    SAP_WAPI_START_WORKFLOW cannot transfer structures or tables which are more thatn 255 characters. So the work around is  either make use of  OO  container or SWCONT container.
    The above code snippet should be included in the assistance class of the webdynpro application and you need to include the define the include cntn01_swc in the class local types  under macros.
    and then you create a method ....... and include the above code in that method.   excluding the include statement.
    Regards
    Pavan

  • What is your workflow, from start to finish?

    Here's mine, and it's a work in progress (any suggestions are appreciated). It feels a bit cumbersome, but I'm an amateur and only process 50-75 photos a week, so it's okay for now.
    1. Use Automator script to import RAWs to Image Capture, name the shoot, import into Aperture, delete source files and assign keywords to images. I've found that doing this as a first step gets me into the discipline of naming/assigning keywords, which I otherwise often neglect to do.
    2. Discard rejects and choose selects for further adjustment within Aperture (minor changes) and "super-selects" for adjustment in PS2.
    3. Export "super-selects" as master RAW files to hot-folder configured to automatically open images in ACR. Make necessary adjustments and open in PS2.
    4. Go back to Aperture. Open same file in external editor (PS2). Paste the ACR converted file into this one (and convert to 8-bit, flatten, etc. if desired) and close the file, returning to Aperture.
    5. If further adjustment is desired, I open in PS2 again, add adjustment layers etc. and close when finished. The layers are preserved so that if I want to make changes later, I can just "open in external editor" again and adjust the layers.
    6. Output from Aperture, or export TIFFs to iPhoto '06 if I want to make calendars, cards or more "consumer-oriented stuff". Export to desktop and open with PS Elements if I want to print "photo packages" (multiple images of specific size, i.e. 4x6, 3x5 on one page). This is a glaring omission in Aperture as far as I'm concerned.
    Pretty laborious, I know. If anyone has ideas for how to streamline it, I'd love to hear them!
    Also, though I do back up the Aperture vault to an external drive, I'd like to also have DVD back-ups (I'm paranoid). But I'm not sure how to do that if my Vault is larger than a DVD. Can someone help me with this?
    Thanks!

    I have been playing around with a number of strategies and think this is what I have settled on:
    1. CF card in reader
    2. Move images to 300 G external hard drive, renaming files and applying keywords using Extensis Porfolio. I have my own folder structure that I like which consists of 13 main folders, one for each month and a misc folder. Within the month folders, folders exist for each day that I have shot (yrmndy) and within each of these folders is one folder for RAW and one folder for JPEG. Each file is named yrmndayxxxx (where the xxxx is the picture number up to 9999). I use Extensis as an image database.
    3. Import images into a project in Aperture, sort, select, edit, going to PS when necessary and exporting JPEGs to the JPEG folder mentioned above and extensively modified RAW (or PS tiff) to the RAW folder. Generally, a few spot corrections, or cropping, etc I do not save the revised RAW file.
    4. Delete Aperture Project once completed. (I really dislike the one very large library structure that is difficult to penetrate at the finder level)
    5. Transfer JPEG images to my print source (professional print lab, or if I am doing personal stuff to places that do cards, calendars, etc). Books I will do thru Aperture at this point, although I will be doing a direct comparison soon with places that charge alot more.
    6. Pay the bills, get pictures, etc in mail a few days later.
    7. Back up drive (Retrospect 6.0.2, I think) to a second 300 G drive 3-4 times per week sometime overnight. (Each year will have its own drive pair, original and back up, and when I no longer need the year, I just turn the drives off). I also back up individual months to DVD's when I think I am done with those months

  • Image loses contrast when transferring from ACR to PSE11

    I have a new PC running Windows 8.1 x64 bit and have reinstalled PSE11 from the CD (previously it was installed on a PC running Vista x32 bit).
    Apart from having to go into all my most frequently used sections to re-set the parameters to how I had them before, all seems to be well with one rather irritating exception ...
    I get the image looking just about right in ACR, but when I click Open Image to apply a few final tweaks in the PSE11 Editor, the picture seems to lose contrast in the move.  With my previous setup, once I was satisfied with the general look of the part-edited image in ACR, it appeared pretty much the same when opened in PSE.
    This will have nothing to do with monitor calibration, since the common factor here is the monitor screen.  The issue is to do with the general appearance of the image when viewed in ACR as compared with how it then appears in PSE.  I have the colour space set as sRGB and the PSE viewing parameters as 'optimised for viewing on computer screens' (I don't do that much printing).
    Anyone else experienced this problem?  What have I missed or what can I do to rectify things, please?

    OSX outputs pdfs at 72dpi if there is any transparency such as shadows, reflections, charts and of course directly specified transparency.
    The jpeg is generated from a pdf and is the wrong method of producing an ad, which should remain text/vector to stay sharp, with photographic style images at 300dpi.
    jpegs should only be used for purely photographic material because it makes everything else fuzzy.
    Your ad should be supplied as a vector pdf. If it has photographic material do not use transparency effects and make sure the images are at least 300dpi at final size.

  • Workflow; from (illustrator) design to Flash Builder (with no room for interpretation)

    Dear all,
    A couple of years ago, we've made quite a bold move to start developing a large ERP application using Flex. The workflow was straight forward; functional and graphic designs were developed almost simultaneously (using Illustrator for the graphic part) and subsequently Catalyst would be used to convert the illustrator designs to usable code in Flash Builder.
    Since Catalyst has been discontinued, we've been dealing with a real gap which is recently been widened due to the fact we've started using later versions (Adobe CC). Thus, we are in need of some advice. We need solutions to move from an illustrator design to flash builder without our developers having to execute design tasks or interpret designs while coding. Basically my questions are as follows:
    - How do I get .ai files over to Fb leaving no room for interpretation (dimensions, colors, gradients, blends, padding, etc)?
    - What is the best flow in case we want to also add some interactivity / animation to our designs without having to dive into the code, in order to convey our ideas to our developers?
    I have browsed forums and watched several training videos, but all I can find are workflows from design to web. Surely, you guys can help me out!
    Thanks,
    David

  • Importing workflows from GRC 5.3 to GRC 10 and then changing them

    Hello Experts,
    We are migrating our SPM,RAR and CUP data from GRC 5.3 to GRC 10.1.At present in our CUP we have user access request workflow as 2 stage workflow.Now in GRC 10.1 we require a 1 stage workflow.
    I wanted an advise if it would be feasable to import the GRC 5.3 workflows and then make changes into it and remove 1 stage.
    Or create new workflows using BRF+.
    we are not sure as to what changes can be performed in the GRC 5.3 imported workflows in GRC 10.
    Please advise

    Hello Steve,
    Migration you deploy Java component and extract data form 5.3 and import in 10.
    still lots of work to be done like and implementation as there are pre-requisite.
    second approach does not need to extract all data from 5.3 system(apart from Ruleset,if at all its required)
    I never migrate workflows better to create new one identical and faster i believe .
    Second approach is little time consuming but good from my point of view.
    In java stack people normally go with 2 system landscape .
    there has been client where in ABAP people go with 3 system landscape.
    now where tricky consulting part play and which data to be imported where.
    and few other points needed to be looked like when you use tools and import data.
    you actually import all transaction  data which contain all active and inactive
    expired.
    in you go with 2nd option you will have only valid data to start with.
