Workflow of the BW project

can u tell me
1) the workflow of a sap BW end to end lifecycle.....wat cud be the answer, (kindly explain me in detail from beginning till end)

Hi,
Start with Reports. What the client is using. What he is expecting.
If he got existing reports map the fields with Business Content BW Fields. Go to Business content and make a list of queries which are delivered from SAP. Explain them the KPI's. This should be good to start with. Also check the Tcodes they use.
Look for DataSources that get data from theses Tcode's.
Project Preparation (Initial stuff -- Do a conceptual review after this phase requirements gathering)
Collect requirement thru interviews with Business teams /Core users / Information Leaders.
Study & analyze KPI's (key figures) of Business process.
Identify the measurement criteria's (Characteristics).
Understand the Drill down requirements if any.
Understand the Business process data flow if any.
Identify the needs for data staging layers in BW – (i. e need for ODS if any)
Understand the system landscape.
Prepare Final Requirements Documents in the form of Functional Specifications containing:
Report Owners, Data flow, KPI's, measurement criteria's, Report format along with drilldown requirements.
Business Blue print (Functional spec-- Do a design review after this phase)
Check Business content against the requirements
Check for appropriate
Info Objects - Key figures & Characters
Check for Info cubes / ODS
Check for data sources & identify fields in source system
Identify Master data document all the information in a file – follow standard templates
Prepare final solution
Identify differences (Gaps) between Business Content & Functional specification.
Propose new solutions/Developments & changes if required at different levels such as Info Objects, Info cube, Data source etc. Document the gaps & respective solutions proposed– follow standard templates
Design & Documentation
Design the ERD & MDM diagrams for each cube & related objects
Design the primary keys/data fields for intermediate Storage in ODS
Design the Data flow charts right from data source up to Cube.
Consider the performance parameters while designing data models
Prepare High level / Low level design documents for each data model. --- Follow standard templates
Identify the Roles & Authorizations required and Document it – follow standard templates
Final review of design with core BW users.
Sign off the BBP documents
Realization ( Develop; Do a configuration review after this phase)
Check & Apply Latest Patches/Packages ...in BW & R/3 systems.
Activate/Build & enhance the cubes/ODS as per data model designs...maintain the version documents.
Identify & activate Info objects / Master data info sources / attributes, prepare update rules
Assign data sources .prepare transfer rules, prepare multi providers. Prepare Info packages.
Perform the unit testing for data loads….both for master data & transaction data.
Develop & test the end user queries.
Design the process chains, schedule & test
Create authorizations / Roles …assign to users..And test
Apply necessary patches & Notes if any freeze & release the final objects to quality systems
perform quality tests.
Re design if required. (Document changes, maintain versions)
Final Preparation ( QA and Other final stuff before moving to production, Do a performance Review after this phase)
Prepare the final check list of objects to be released .identify the dependencies & sequence of release perform Go Live checks as recommended by SAP in production system
Keep up to date Patch Levels in Production system
Test for production scenarios in a pre-production system which is a replica of production system.
Do not encourage the changes at this stage.
Freeze the objects.
Go Live and support ( to production and support)
Keep up to date Patch Levels
Release the objects to production system
Run the set ups in R/3 source system & Initialize Loads in BW
Schedule Batch jobs in R/3 system (Delta loads)
Schedule the process chains in BW.
Performance tuning – on going activity
Enhancements - if any

  • How can I utilize the feature "Project Proposal Workflow"?

    Hello,
I am looking for any reference shows how can I utilize the feature "Project Proposal Workflow" in creating a Demand Managment process in Project Server 2013.
    Thanks

    Hi New_page,
Basically this feature allows you doing what is called "ideation" in Project Server. From a SharePoint list (either in a dedicated site or directly in PWA), you can create ideas of projects and then initiate a project in Project Server from
this list, mapping the list's columns with enterprise project custom fields and choosing an enterprise project type.
    See some references below:

  • Can two different account work on the same project?

I work for a non-profit organization and we are think about switching platform for our website, we are looking in to Muse, our graphic designer already have a Adobe Muse account and we would like to get an other account for the organization, will it be possible for both our account to work on the same project? With an account we can only have two computer with Muse and there will be 3 working on the website.

    Hi Alexandre,
At any given point not more than one person can work on a .muse file. Muse is not yet designed for a workflow like this. You can update the .muse file using three different accounts as long as the file is not opened at more than one end at the same time and the file needs to be shared manually in between the accounts once one person is done working on it.

  • How to work on the same project on two machines at the same time and also exchange progress seamlessly using Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014?

We are working on a film project on Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014. Two editors are working on the same film project (same pproj file ) on two machines. As a result the bin structure and the file structure is exactly the same. We even bought two licenses for the respective machines to make matters simple (at least we thought it would).
Now when we share a sequence between the two machines, every time we have to import and re-link media. Also each sequence import comes with its own set of files, which are actually already present in the project. Basically the new sequences are looking to re-link the media to the original/ source files only and are completely ignoring the file structure present in the project.
In all editing softwares, timeline/ sequence sharing is a very common practise when working on multiple machines. Why is it so tedious in CC 2014? Every time we share a sequence between the two machines the media gets doubled and tripled in the project. As a result the project file size is increasing perpetually. Already Premiere CC 2014 is extremely laggy and slow, and this stupid bug is making it more difficult for us to finish our work on time.
Has anybody ever faced this issue? How do we solve it? We are willing to try out any workflow that you can suggest.

Concurrently working on the same project it requires a specific implementation in all editing programs like Avid's Unity/ ISIS shared storage. That's what you are simply not considering. none of your issues would be any problem if your projects resided on a commonly accessed server or something like that. Check respective hardware solutions.

  • Why are my photos not as sharp when I import them into Facebook from the Aperture Projects file, compared to when I 'share' them with Facebook within the Aperture programme? There is a noticeable difference and has been spoiling my photos for some time.

Hi all, I take wildlife photos (mostly birds) as a hobby, and have become frustrated with the quality of my photos recently when shared online, particularly Facebook.
I started blaming my camera ( a Canon 7D) as I changed it a few months ago from a Canon 550D, and I soon noticed that the images were not as good. Then I realised it was when I started using Aperture.
I started by using the 'share' option within Aperture but I soon realised that then I have no control over the creation of an album, and the photos start appearing on facebook before I have finished uploading them and given them captions. Plus if I subsequently move them or export them to my back up drive then they disappear from Facebook!
So I started creating albums within Facebook and then importing the photos from the aperture projects file on my computer. Because they are imported I can then delete or move the aperture file and the photos stay on facebook. Otherwise my macbook was becoming completely full.
However to test my theory I have today uploaded the same photo edited in Aperture stored in the same projects folder using the two different methods described above, and there is a very distinct difference between the quality of the two images. The shared ones are very much sharper than the imported ones.
I am a computer novice and don't know how to check what the quality settings are, or how to adjust anything to improve the way the photos go into facebook. I do have a manual but I just cant understand it :-(
I have tried a free sample of Lightroom 5 and my photos  look amazing, there is such a difference, but I don't want to give up with Aperture unless the problem really can't be solved.
Sorry for such a long first post, I would be very very grateful for any help you can give me!
    Regards
    Susan

Generally I would not use Facebook for sharing any photos, it compresses the photos substantially, and when you have shadows and dark colours you get visible "bands" where there should be subtle gradients, ie at sunsets and sunrises.
It sounds like you are using two methods to upload to Facebook:
    1. Sharing from within Aperture, which basically syncs Facebook with your Aperture album, so any changes made at either end gets synced, hence the deletions from Albums, although the original file should still be in your library, just removed rom the album. It is like a playlist in iTunes.
    2. Exporting pics and uploading to Facebook from the browser.
I am not sure how method 1 gets compressed, but I know that uploading hi-res jpegs to Facebook using method 2 results in poor quality images.
I wouldn't even bother comparing option 1 or 2, and they will both be poor images once you view them on Facebook, as opposed to viewing uploaded images on proper image sharing / hosting sites.
Your problem is not with Aperture, it is using Facebook for showing your work.
If you export pics form Aperture at high res jpegs or TIFFs your images will be fine.
If you insist to use Facebook as your way to share your work, then your workflow should be this:
    1. Right click images you want to share.
    2. Select Export version.
    3. Export as 100% size and ensure the export settings are set at 100% quality.
    4. Upload this pic into Facebook.
This will get you the best image size and resolution on Facebook.
    See how you go.

The error is as mentioned below
"The partial project item type does not have a value for this property"
Due to this the when I add above type of items in my project, they show a red cross icon against them.

  • Just imported clips and edited as new project. closed imovie. came back later and the entire project was gone. i was not done so i did not finalize it. how do i get the program to keep my project in progress

running imovie on a powermac w 10.6.8. went through the tutorials. imported my clips, got the hang of basic editing, and created a project.
was pretty happy with it, but needed to shut down and come back to work on it later. when i did come back, the entire project was gone.
how do i get the program to save my work in progress, without finalizing it?
    thanks

So, everything worked out just fine!
I have all my material in the ProRes Codec on a seperate drive now. The project itself was kept or rather duplicated, the bin structure etc stayed the same but is linking to the newly created files. The playback and workflow is fluent. I am happy!
Time info: For about 120 GB of material the codec change process took 25 hours.
    Thanks for your help!

  • Project Server workflow freezes on setting Project field

    Hi,
In Project Server 2013 I've created a workflow with the SharePoint Designer. I want the workflow to set the project stage status and then a Project Field. Setting the project stage status works fine, but when I insert the action of setting the project field
the workflow freezes and the Submit button is greyed out. Remove this action, re-publish the workflow and everything works fine. There are no required or read-only fields in the workflow stage and the custom field I want set is a plain project level custom
field with no special properties. It is not on any pdp, nor in any view, because I'm only using it for OData reporting. Setting the field as "workflow-controlled" doesn't make a difference. It is the same in Project Online. What am I missing?

Setting a project field should not be a problem or holding in anyway, what kind of field is it and what value is being provided ?
Take a look at the article here, it explains the process of
creating an approval, make sure you are following the same process, it would be advisable to go through these module on working with workflow

  • Regarding EP Guys in the XI Project

    Hi Experts,
i have One Doubt Regarding the Implementation of the XI Project.
Is the EP Persons are  Must To Implement Any XI Project??????
Should we Maintain the EP Front End Access Compulsary Or We can Maintain Any other Fron End Access Like VB .NET........???????
    Please let me Know
    Regards
    Khanna

    Hi Rajesh
I would suggest you to check some docuement about the EAI ( Enterprise Application Integration ) on net.
XI is used for Process Integration, an example like An account holder submits the cheque in Bank, now this cheque needs to be reviewed, passed to another Bank for clearing & then the money will be deposied in the respective account.
This whole process can be designed in XI, initially you need to understand the workflow of the process, its touchpoints & its controls.
This whole business process can be automated where in between it will check the policies/rules ( to process the cheque ) or it can be manual depends upon the Business requirement.
Also EAI is used to connect the process running on different platforms/landscapes.
    >>> How these wil Run if you go for Realtime
As I said earlier you need to understand the process, you have to identify who exactly is invoking the process in above example When the person will deposit the cheque in Bank with details.

  • Undeploying the BPM project from Oracle Business Process Workspace

    Hi all,
I am facing problem in deploying the project to Oracle Business Process Workspace, I had some issues while deploying the project for the first time, and now when i am again trying to deploy the same project, it is giving the error "*Deployment failed, Module already exists on server*".
is there any way i can deploy the project or delete the existing project from workspace and then redeploy the project ?
    IDE used : Jdeveloper 11.1.5
    Server used : Weblogic 10.3
Please guide me in this as soon as possible.
    Thanks and Regards
    Debarati

    Hi
    1. Yes, from EM Console, first Undeploy the Workflow Project that you can find under SOA -> soa_infra -> default node.
    2. Then expand Application Deployments -> Look for the UI Project (that has taskforms etc) and make sure to select it and Undeploy this also.
    3. Now comes, what and how exactly are you deploying your SOA/BPM application. Any SOA/BPM application will have one Workflow project (atleast) and one or more UI Projects (for each user task). Also there may be some other utility projects or EJB projects. Now to deploy the entire application you have couple of options. Just select your Workflow project and deploy and during this time, it will list out all UI Projects and you can check all of them. Also for Workflow you can check one check box to overwrite any existing versions like 1.0. In this way you will have full Workflow deployed and all UI Projects also deployed. Once you do this, you cannot again deploy just the UI Project. Thats when you get these errors like already deployed etc. Now disadvantage here is, if you just make only UI changes, you cannot deploy only UI Project since it is already deployed as part of full app. So you had to again deploy Workflow project and check all ui projects also. this means all your existing workflow instances will become stale (redeploy of workflow makes all old tasks stale).
    4. Another and more ideal standard way is, first deploy just the Workflow project and DO NOT check any UI Projects. Then from the Application Level, deploy the entire application that includes all the UI Project and any other Projects. Just select your application, properties and deployment section. And see the projects included in the application. Make sure you DO NOT check the workflow project. But check all other projects like UI or any other project. In this way, any changes you make to UI or EJBs, just deploy the application. Your workflow is still the same old. Bottom line, Workflow Project is created as a SAR (SOA Archive) which is like a jar file. And entire application is deployed like an EAR file. So you will have 2 files for deployment to any other Env where you do not have like JDev.
For now, follow first 2 steps, to undeploy all the stuff you have. Then you should be able to redeploy using one of the above options.
    Thanks

  • Approval workflow in the rooms

    Hello to all,
i need to active the approval workflow for the room's documents.
One member create a new document, and only he and the leader should see the document, and when the leader approve the document the others members should see this document. And all the members can create and uploat documents at the room.
    Can sombody helpme??

    Hi Anna Maria ,
you are right... let's see if a user has read/write access to a folder he/she can see any document in any status.
if another user has read access permission over that folder he/she won't see any document until it is approved.
Of course you need all the user have read/write access.... so
    I'm thinking about two options:
    1.  once an user upload a file you remove the write permission over that file.. you need to develop your own upload app.
    2.  this is the tricky one...
create a folder for every user in your room, give them read/write permission over their own folder
for example, user01 ---> read/write over the folder named user01 in this room
    everyone else only read access
activate the approval process over every single folder.
This way, every time a user upload a document, only he/she and the people in the approval workflow can see it, not his/her partners.
Ok, but now maybe you don't wanna navigate for every folder to see the approved documents, so..
create an index over the root folder
create a query-base taxonomy with a public folder
for the public folder create a query something like
    property
    Folder IS your <rootfolder>
Finally, create an readonly iView to this folder taxonomy
    for example
    /taxonomies/<your index>/<your taxonomy>/public
In this iView all the people in the project will see only the approved documents.
You can read about the query based taxonomies here

  • Workflows within the SAP environment

    Hello,
for my diploma i'm evaluating the different workflow technologies within the sap environment. Therefor i set up a list with the different technologies and want to know if i'm missing something.
    1) ALE
    2) MDM Workflow
    3) Business Workflow aka Adhoc Workflow
(CRM Workflow, SCM Workflow are synonym to the Business Workflow)
    4) SAP Webflow aka SAP Workflow
(kind of a successor of Business Workflow)
    5) Guided Procedures
    6) Business Process Engine aka ccBPM
Are these the most used Workflows within the SAP environment or is something missing?
And what is the difference between <i>SAP Business Workflow</i> and <i>SAP Webflow</i>? Some source say these two are nearly the same, except the "web-capability" of Webflow...
btw: Sorry for posting this question in the Coffee Corner but its a farreaching area and i dont know which other forum it would fit better...
    thx for replys
    Matthias

    Matthias -
Please be assured that there was no irony or sarcasm intended - if you can complete the evaluation task that you have set for yourself, it will not only be a wonderful achievement but also something that I'm sure many here would want to read and comment on.
The one thing to keep in mind - perhaps the most important thing - is that technological alternatives are never pursued rationally.  Rather, they are generally pursued for the worst of reasons - someone's opinion of where "the market" is going at any given point in time.
So unless you can get an SAP "insider" to explain to you why SAP's workflow alternatives developed the way they did, you will not really have a complete picture.
Of course, it's also true that sometimes good things can happen for the worst of reasons, so perhaps the "inside" history of workflow at SAP is irrelevant.
The reason I'm going on about this is because I still don't think "the powers that be" at Walldorf have realized yet that the way to get pre-NW clients to NW200nx (NWDS, WDA, WDJ, GP, VC) is to get them to use regular old workflow first.
There is <i><b>nothing</b></i> in NWDS, WDA, WDJ, GP, and VC that can't be done in a pre-NW environment using a combination of user exits, BAdI's, BAPI's, and workflows.
And if SAP customers were to start using these older techniques to implement "integrated" and "process-driven" applications, then they would get into a "state-of-mind" that would make them much more confident of their ability to handle NW techniques, and much more aware of the benefits resuling therefrom.
As the old saying goes -
<i><b>you've got to take folks from what they know to what they don't</b></i>
i.e. you can't simply "shock and awe" customers into what you want them to start using.
Sorry to go on like this, but all these matters are tied up in the project you are about to undertake ...
    Regards

  • Workflow SedMail Fails with Project Data:Project Owner Email

    Hi Forum,
I've been using Project Server 2013 for while now and I've been tasked with setting up workflows.
The workflow SendEmail facility is useful but I've noticed something strange.
If I put the Recipient as: "Project Data:Project Owner Email" then the Workflow will fail, and in the WFInstanceDatabase the error is http - bad request.
If I change the Reciepient to a named user, the workflow passes.
What's even stranger, when running the workflow the Project Owner is the same AD User.
I'm running in Project Server Permissions Mode, but it does suggest a permissions or lack of some sort of Synchronization going on, as the the AD user has the email field setup and is also listed in the AD Synchronization Pool screen (if the PWA Settings
    area).
If this problem rings any bells, your help would be appreciated.  I've spent a few weekends, going through process of elimnation, Workflow Setup, SMTP setup, setting up very simple workflows, so I've managed to get this specific difference.
    Many Thanks
    Regards
    Mark

    Hi Kiran,
I've changed the email template in SPD2013 to set the To: to a named user (synced via AD) and in the body I've added ProjectData:ProjectOwnerEmail and on running the creating a new project, I am getting the email, and also in the body, it's showing the email
    address.
So it indicates that emailing does work, the property is available,  but it seems to point to whether something more fundamental is missing. I'm hoping there's something else to check?
