Workflow start with caf gp application

Hi Experts,
I am on nw2004s, erp2005, ep7.0 sp11.
ESS Business Package has one application developed on CAF GP called Life and Work Events. In this, there is a process "Birth/Adoption". This process has blocks, actions, callable objects (web dynpro java based). The standard application does not trigger a workflow. I have finished one task through portal like changing family data and i run the transaction SWEL. I see some events on Business OBjecttype: FAMILY, EVENT: CREATE, CHANGED.
I do not know by this time these events are created, the data is already written to database. Please clarify me.
when the user does this on portal, it should trigger a workflow (like send an email to HR Administrator) before the values are written to DataBase.
When HR admin does two actions; Approve or Reject. when approved, data will be written to data base.
what are the basic steps that I should follow to complete this process?

I am designing the workflow process for family data changes through the Life and Work Events GP applications.
1. i created a task with Object Type FAMILY and method: APPROVE.
I went ahead and tried to define the triggering events (FAMILY- Created, Change). I tried to activate: the system throws an error: binding for event is incorrect-no activation possible.
any body help me why I get this error?

Starting dialog after workflow starts

hi there,
i have a user request and i don''t know how to handle this. i have tried to do it another way, but for our users this is not acceptable.
the users enter absences in HR for other collegues (illness, ......). Each of the entered or changed or deleted absences has an event triggered behind it (object type ABSENCE with method created, deleted, and so on).
i have a workflow starting with each of this triggered events. now the big problem is that the users have to add an document (scanned pdf file) to the absence. But they DON'T want to go to business-place-inbox for it, they want to do it directly.
well, how should i handle this. when the users has entered the data there should be the 'add attachment' dialog from workflow , or some other dialog. is this possible ?

Yup - I understand what you mean. I have never worked with the absence object type, but if there's a separate transaction for maintaining the data you can perhaps try to modify it and make the GOS available for the absence object? There are other threads here explaining how to enable GOS in a 'non-GOSsed' transaction.

"No workflow started. Application error occured"

Dear Gurus,
Our user has encounter approval workflow problem. Shopping cart was created and ordered with status "Awaiting Approval". However, when viewing "Approval Overview", it shows that "No workflow started. Application error occured".
Approver has access to SAP and roles had been assigned.
I've checked table SWW_WI2OBJ and there is workflow created in SAP. However, it shows as error on the web.
Any idea what caused this error?

Hi,
Go to SWDD and from Header find out whether you have an active version for your workflow.
Seems like the BUS 2201 is not able to determine any of the active workflows.
OR,
Go to SWUD and test with your workflow template and see if any error exists.
It will show :" Workflow definition doesnot exist WD 401 " error if you dont have an active version.
Try to create an active version for your workflow if this is the issue.

If you have followed the standard Apple troubleshooting processes (see user guide )
probably a trip to the local Apple Store Genius bar is called for before warranty runs out

1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.

4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive & clear caches.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.
If that doesn't help Reinstall the OS.

Application crash when it starts with a list form...

hi guys i have an application that starts with a list form, i use netbeans and linux, in the emulator it works well but in my sony ericsson w810i it crashes when the application starts with a list form, if i change it to a text form or other thing it doesnt crashes, why?

it is a list screen and is implicit, but before it was working i dont know what i change that suddenly it doesnt work any more :(....

Applications starting with letter S close

I wasn't sure if I should post here but it's definitely a weird problem I have. It's been a month since some of my applications, all starting with the letter S, close right after I open them and I cannot use them, e.g. Safari, Skype, Sherlock, SRSiWow - iTines. After I erased SRSiWow iTunes is working perfectly. I've never heard of such problem nor imagined it might happen.

Start with the third box in Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.

How to use SAP Business Workflow along with Interactive Adobe Form

Hi Experts,
I am working on SAP Business Workflow since last couple of years.
Now i have got a new Project where client wants to use SAP Business Workflow along with Interactive Adobe Form.
I am new to Interactive Adobe Form and Portal thing and i really dont know from where to start.
We have one central system and 2 local systems. when we do create a Material document using adobe form workflow should trigger and notification should go to group of users who can approve or reject it, once they approve it document gets created in central system and replicated to 2 local system through ALE.
In the Local system they do extend the document to different plants, again workflow triggers and notification will go to Managers inbox for the approval.
Once the final approval done data should go and store in SAP.
Now here i have couple of Questions.
1. In SAP R3 Business workflow when i execute the workitem from the inbox i do get the application screen ( i.e. MM01 MRP View ) , what is going to happen if the same case i have with Adobe form?? is it possible or do we have to design a adobe form and we will have to map the fields with backend application??
2. Do i have to maintained 3 separate Org Structure for 3 different system or using UWL i can manage the show
3. Untill final submit is not done, where the application data is going to be, is there any kind of buffer that we will have to keep it or its there with XML file??
Please help me out.

Welcome to ADOBE Forms related Workflow Development. Well, here are my answers.
1) You can go for either go for ISR based development or WD development with Adobe form. In both the cases you can achieve your requirement. Yes, you will have to design the Adobe form and bind the fields to backend.
2) Am not clear or your System landscape to advice you in these regards.
3) Until final Submit/Approval is done, the data can be stored in WORKFLOW CONTAINERS or XML FORM(If you go for ISR based Development).

Trying to Get Started With Windows 8.1

I'm not a troll, I'm just a crotchety, oldster trying to figure out how to get Windows 8.1 to fit my workflow. I've been using Windows 7 for the last bunch of years, so I'm a bit late to the Windows 8 party, but I'm building a new PC and figured I'd
move to 8.1 instead of continuing with 7...
I liked the XP interface - extremely easy to find the application I wanted because things were hierarchical. Windows 7 was more bothersome, but I got used to it. So far, after 3 days, I'm still struggling with Windows 8.1, so I figure I'll get some
guidance here...
I did a rummage, but didn't find much on how I should change my workflow to make it easier in 8.1. In Windows 7 I had a desktop with icons for less frequently used applications, a taskbar with frequently used applications pinned, and a start menu (3rd
party) with EVERYTHING organized hierarchically so it was easy to find what I need. I'm trying to use 8.1 without adding a bunch of 3rd party stuff to make it look more like older interfaces that were organized differently.
In Windows 8, I appear to have the equivalent of THREE desktops, all different, none with any hierarchical organization.
I'm not seeing the advantage of the Start screen... Are the boxes, of whatever size, just the equivalent of icons or do they do something better? And I only appear to be able to organize horizontally, which means I'm limited to six named groups.
On the Apps screen, I already have a large number of my apps, despite deleting a bunch of the "modern" things. They exceed the width of the 24" monitor I'm using for setup. There doesn't seem to be any hierarchy there, either.
So, for example, for Office I have at least 12 icons/apps/whatevers. Including the ones I CARE about, like Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Outlook that I use regularly. AND a bunch of OTHER stuff I VERY rarely use like Clip Organizer, and Groove,
and Uploader, and so on. But, I can't take them off the screen if I ever want to get at them, right? 'Cause there's no start menu any more...
I also have a lot of stuff for handling e-books - Calibre, a Kindle Reader, OverDrive, Adobe Digital Additionsl, a Nook Reader, a couple 3M cloud things, and so on. On the Apps page they're all OVER the place instead of being grouped together (which at
least the Office stuff is). And there doesn't appear to be a way to have them be together and hierarchical so I can quickly find Calibre or ADE quickly, and only have to see the Kindle reader or Nook reader when I want them... So how do folks organize
their screens so they don't have to wade through hundreds of things you only need once a year to get to the ones you use a couple times a month or once a week?
I also have a bunch of stuff that's just a single application, like Syncback, but instead of just being "Syncback", there' ANOTHER line that tells me who the creator is - I don't care that 2BrightSparks made it, I just want to be able to find it when
I need it - once in a while.
The desktop is as it's always been, but I don't want 2 or 300 icons on there for a bunch of stuff I rarely use. The constantly used stuff will be pinned to the taskbar, and the less frequently can be icons, but where do I do to organize all the
other stuff?
So, in my ignorance - is there a way to have 8.1 support MY workflow, or if not, how do other people organize things to make it as easy as possible to find what you need without having to wade through a ton of stuff you don't? And have it all fit on the
screen.
I found the Name Group thing for the Start screen, but I can only group applications aross the screen? Which limits me to 6 groups. How do I configure that screen so I can have multiple groups in a column?
And the Apps screen. How do I organize things hierarchically so I can have the Office stuff I care about visible, with the rest not clogging up space but available for drilling down?
I currently have the system boot to the desktop, which is most like Windows 7, but without a start menu to group things, I'd need a lot of icons for the applications I use, and a lot MORE for the stuff I rarely use. Cumbersome.
How are other people organizing in 8.1?

I have a Dell U3014 as well as a couple of older Dells turned up sideways as "ears".
Other than supplying the desktop "theme" (if you can call a complete lack of style along with a fair bit of inconsistency a "theme"), the OS really shouldn't be causing you to have a washed-out desktop experience. That's more a
matter of your display driver not really doing its job. What video card do you have?
FYI, one of the reasons I like Aero Glass for Win 8.1 (a 3rd party package) is that it allows me to make the desktop more pleasant to use and helps set the client areas (i.e., where work gets done) apart from the window chrome.
From what I can see, the color-management logic in Windows 8.1 is essentially unchanged from what it was in Windows 7. That there has been NO progress in this area is really a disappointment. It's an area where Microsoft has again just stopped
trying to make improvements.
If it's at all interesting to you, here's a screen grab of a REALLY cluttered up desktop. I don't normally work this way; this was an exercise to see how much I could get running. I finally gave up starting more stuff as I grew tired
and it just kept working fine...
