Working on JSF with Frames

Hi All,
I am currently working on JSF with Frames. I was able to have the frames implemented in JSF. I have 4 frames with the following layout
Frame1
Frame2 | Frame3

Sorry, the question is
I have a commandNavigationItem (list) in frame2 and when I click on one of the component of the navigation list, I want to the JSF page loaded in Frame3.
Currently it is getting loaded in Frame2 itself. i did set the targetFrame parameter of commandNavigationItem but still it loads in Frame2 itself.

You need to convert the string date to datetime or date. See conversion examples here:

Example for the where clause:

Can you post sample string dates?
Are you looking for today's records? Another option (depends on lastdate format):

Not getting cleared with internal working of JSF

Hi All,
I have started with basics of JSF and created some simple apps using netBeans.
However I am not getting cleared with the exact internal working of JSF i.e. how the things are implemented in JSF libraries: jsf-api and jsf-impl.
Please advice or share some links on this.

While creating JSP custom tags, we start from scratch by first creating tag handler class then .tld file for that and finally deploying both these files.
I am looking for a similar approach for making our own JSF component.
I don't want to put jsf-impl API into lib directory. Is it possible to make a simple component using jstl standard libraries ?

Since last upgrade (tablet under Android), websites with frames don't work.

All apps are up to date. Since last Firefox upgrade, web sites with frames no longer work properly : frames are outside of screen at bottom. Chrome and other browsers work fine... but I prefer Firefox.

I view this page from home web page ([http://www.ville-fondettes.fr/ http://www.ville-fondettes.fr/] ), staying in Firefox app.
This web site isn't very well designed but was working well with previous version of Firefox.
I found other web sites but a private account is needed. I try to find other examples with the same issue.

Frame work problem along with tag libraries...

I am new to jsp and am making a project in it, I am following MVC architecture but my problem is i am unable to understand all this concept of frameworks like struts, spring etc... i need some help with what they actually are..??
also i am not using any tag libraries in my project i am using simple jsp files with minimum java coding at the front end and class files at the logic layer... and then the databse layer... i want to know is it better to use tag libraries and for using them will i have to follow any particular framework.. and are these tag libraries different for different frameworks..??... will i be missing something if i don't use tag libraires or don't follow a particular framework...???

Those taglibs are particularly for the view layer of the MVC pattern. In a MCV framework you use taglibs to associate beans from the model/controller layer with the view layer. The framework will care about getting and setting the bean properties during the HTTP request-response cycle. With for example Sun JSF framework the relevant part of your JSP page would look like:

How do I resolve share frame errors (-1) with frames in which FCP seems to place a transition mark in the form of an L-shaped or reverse L-shaped figure?

When I try to use Share to a master file, I get an error that states: "The share operation Master File has failed. The operation could not be completed because an error occurred when creating frame 158 (error -1)." This has occurred with different frame numbers. When I delete them, it might disappear for that frame, but then shows up later for others. It seems that the problem is occuring right at the transition point between two clips. FCP seems to be putting an L-shaped figure on the last frame of one clip and a reverse L-shaped figure on the first frame of the next clip. The faulty frame seems to be one of those two frames. The clips I am having trouble with were from an old, non-digital cameral. We had converted them to DVDs and then I converted them to MPEG-4 files using Mac X DVD Ripper Pro. The converter seems to work fine and I can play the converted movie with Quick Time. Also, FCP will import the converted movie and works just fine with it as a clip and in the timeline. But when I try to share, I keep getting these errors. Short of deleting all of these old clips from the movie, which would be sad, how do I solve this problem?
After looking at previous discusion threads I have already saved to a new project, deleted the clip and re-imported it, and eliminated the transition effect from between the clips. But I still get the same errors.
I also get an error when I try to share to DVD, but that error is a "0" error that doesn't mark the location of the problem. I'm assuming it is the same problem as the one when I try to share to master file.
One other weird thing is that in a slightly older version of the movie with the same clips, I was not able to share to DVD but it did share to a master file. That almost seems like pure luck right now.

MPEG-4 should not be used in FCP unless it is converted first or optimized in the application.
Trash your preferences. Trash your project render files. Switch off background rendering. Do not re-render. Export your projects.
Ignore the last frame and first frame indicators.

Making a simple gallery - issues with frames

I'm at the end of my tether with this one.
I am a beginner with Dreamweaver and maybe I'm running before I can walk, but I thought what I am trying to make would be fairly simple. Haha!
I want to make a basic gallery, ie. you click the arrows or the thumbnail buttons and the next image appears within the page but DOESN'T reload to a whole separate page.
I managed to do this using a frameset and thumbnails - the images loaded in the main frame fine - BUT there are 2 issues with this:
1. The link to the homepage I added in the corner loads WITHIN the frameset, and so the homepage is cut off and the thumbnails are still there. I want the link to take the user OUT of the frameset and straight to the homepage (a totally different format, with no frames used) I can't find a way to put this homepage link anywhere outside of the frameset.
2. I cant centre the frameset, or have much control over the layout like I do with tables.
Could this problem be solved using tables? Or any way to solve this simply?

PS. I don't have fireworks, and I don't want to use a downloadable gallery as I want control over how it works/looks, also I dont think it would solve issues 1 and 2 anyway.

I don't understand this comment at all. If you use a downloadable gallery you just edit the skin as you would any other HTML document and make it look like the rest of your site. And usually support communities for those products are fairly helpful for skinning. Learning to code something like this with frames for a first project is a little ambitious but it is heading in a direction that I know you are not looking to go. I have a feeling you like the interactive galleries that pop up and switch from image to image while staying on the same page.
To answer your questions:
1. You need to define the target frame with frames. By default links open within the window they are currently in. See this example: http://webdesign.about.com/od/frames/f/bl_faq4-2.htm
2. Framesets cannot be centered on a page. They are part of the overall page layout and cannot be positioned. If you need to position a frame on a particular part of a page you will need to use iframes: http://www.w3schools.com/tags/tag_iframe.asp

Issues viewing PDF's in safari with frames

I am a college student and I have a lot of PDF's to look at while in class. The university's website for class info is called blackboard.
In safari, when I open a link to a pdf file, the pdf opens in the main frame of the website, but only the first page or so of the pdf is displayed. Basically the pdf stops at the same point on the webpage as the other frames do. So if your PDF is bigger than this website size, then you are out of luck to view the other pages.
This is quite annoying as this is one of the main reasons I bought the touch. I noticed the problem when I was trying it out at the local apple store. When I asked the salesperson about it, he said that there is a bug fix coming out soon for that.(I think he may have just said that to get the sale)
Here is what I have tried:
Someone created a piece of javascript that forces all links on a page to open in a new page. It works by navigating to the desired page, then open a "link" that contains the java code as the address. Unfortunately it did not work.
Someone with an iPhone told me to rotate the touch to landscape orientation and try refreshing the page, however that did not work.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It appears to me as if one is an "off" command and one is an "on" command

JSF with Infragistics Dialog window problem

Hi All,
First of all i would like to thank you all for your previous valuable suggestions. Currently i am working on JSF 1.1 application with Infragistics components. We implemented 'City Search' functionality where a command Link will be displayed once the user clicks on that link a small dialog window to perform city search will be opened. Now my question is once we access the link 'City Search', the command button 'Add' to submit the form is not working properly. I need to click the command Button twice to submit my request.
If i didn't access 'City search' command Link, then action is submitted as soon as when i click on 'Add' command button once.
Actual jsp file is 'add_client.jsp'.
included jsp file which contains 'City Search' link is 'zipcode_search.jsp'.
Any help will be highly appreciated.

Tiles / JSF with single tiles-defs.xml file, no templating JSPs?

All the examples I've seen for using JSF with Tiles use many JSP files for the templating information, resulting in twice as many JSP files as you would have in, say, a typical Struts project.
When coding in Struts you can forward to a tiles definition, meaning that if all your page layouts are defined in tiles-defs.xml, then you only need to provide the JSPs for the non-standard parts of each page.
With JSF it seems that you need to provide a JSP for the template for each file (which might end up being a single <tiles:insert... />, and the JSP for the non-standard bits for that page.
Is there a way to either a) combine those two JSP files into one (by maby using a <tiles:put ... type="string"/> - tried this, couldn't get it to work), or b) get something similar to the way Struts + Tiles works?

It does not work by default. It is a fact.
Source for Struts, Tiles and even JSF are open now. I.e. everybody who has interest can research this question.
I got this reply from another forum for this question and I am currently working on it. Lets see if we get somewhere.

IPhone/Safari can't navigate Internet Sites with Frames.

Here's a riddle for all you mega-geeks out there...my iPhone 3G can't function on an Internet site I use that has Frame type navigation (navigation links are in a separate window on the left, the main window always shows the homepage address in the browser no matter what page you go to). When I go to this site,(it's a local estate-sales site) and try to navigate beyond the home page, the icons/links in the navigation frame are displayed as little boxes with "?" marks on them, there is no way to get in to any page past the home page. Is there a way to configure Safari to be able to deal with frames?

Hi, Thanks for the input...it may be the way the site in question is coded that makes the navigation frame unusable. I tried using a different site that uses frames, and that site works fine. In case anyone wants to see what I'm talking about, the site my iPhone cannot get into beyond the home page is estatesale-finder.com (a handy site if you happen to live in the Portland area and like estate sales). This site comes up and works fine on all my PC machines...it is only the iPhone that cannot naviagte on the site. Thanks...

So I added all required jar files under bea root/config/samples/lib and updated startWeblogic.cmd

netui-template integration with frames

Is there any integration between <netui-template and HTML frames ? For example, I need to define several frames in all the JSPs of a webapp. I'm using a template which declares something like:

<frame src="leftTemplate.jsp" name="left"/>
<frame src="rightTemplate.jsp" name="right"/>
</frameset>
where leftTemplate.jsp and rightTemplate.jsp are templates. This raises an exception saying that there is no template context due to the fact that templates are used directly, which is right.
I tried to use <netui-template:section instead of frames but the target option of <netui-html don't seem to be integrated with sections. For example, I need to click an anchor in a section and produce a visual feed-back in another one. If I use the target option of the <netui:anchor to specify the second section name, it doesn't work. If the name specified by the target option of the <netui:anchor is a frame name, then it works. So I need either to be able to use templates in conjunction with frames or to have target-aware sections.
Any suggestion would be higly apreciated.

Which URL are you using in your Communication Channels? Make sure you use the appropriate URL as listed in note 1953125.
Also, make sure proper credentials are stored in the IMG.

How to invoke JSF With Standard Urls and parameters

Could some one please help me how to invoke JSF with standard Urls and parameters?
My requirement is:

then i want to save the tracker details into database and redirect the user to "products" page.
Would some one suggest me where can i get some example?

same code works if the user click on command button but my requirement is as soon as the user click on the link from 3rd party website, then he need to come to our web application and invoke the JSF page along with ManagedBean for saving details and redirect to disganted webpage.
