Working with movie clip in flex

I am using a movie clip with animation having 2 frames
developed in flash cs3 in flex. The movie clip has mouse hover and
mouse out animation. Now I am using the movie clip and want to make
a click event on the clip. But it does not work at one click. I
have to click more than once. Also When I remove that animation the
click event goes well.
Can I make a movie clip by flex?
or
How can I use that movie clip with animation developed in
flash cs3 and also click event work well.
Please help me.

Actully I have two frame in movie clip(cs3). On mouse hover
it goes to second frame and on mouse out it comes to first frame.
Now when I am using this movie clip in flex and want to get the
click event on that movie clip it does not work at once. If I
remove the mouse hover and mouse out from movie clip the click
event works. But to get those mouse hover and mouse and in over
movie clip I had to write to many code.
However that mouse hover and mouse out by flex over movie
clip it takes time to get work.

I'm making an animation with movie clips inside the stage but if i put action in the end of these for go to another frame in the stage, dosnt let me because AS3.0 does'nt alow script inside buttons and MC's.
Wath can i do for this issue.
The new code from AS3.0 is so diferent to AS2
    Thanks for your time.
can you put some video to do things like this.????
By the way, this forum is the best, congratulations for all.

Thank you for the answer, i hope to understand AS3 more in the pass of days.
For other hand, can you tell me how can i make the background of my exported video transparent??
When export i mark the check box make alfa chanel on backgroud, but when i conver to FLV with Adobe Media Encoder, the background turns to black.
what other way can i use to import video.

  • Embed movie clip in flex

    Hey,
I have converted a avi file to an swf file with "MediaCoder".
My plan was to simply embed this movie clip into my flex application, which did not work for me. :-(
How can I embed the swf movie into flex AND play/stop the movie with buttons?
I tested the following code, but when I click on the stop button I get the error:
"TypeError: Error #1009: Der Zugriff auf eine Eigenschaft oder eine Methode eines null-Objektverweises ist nicht möglich."
Obviously there is a problem with that swf file because another swf file is working...

  • Help: Working with .MOV files in FCP and forced to RENDER FOR EVERY EDIT

I'm working with .MOV files from my digital camera in Final Cut Pro and every time I make a new edit, I have to render it in order to see it in the canvas.
How do I make it so that I don't have to render every edit in order to see it?
(I've worked with files straight from a DV camera, and editing went fine. I'm assuming it has to do with the .MOV files)

DV Cameras are not the same thing as a Digital camera. Digital cameras offer video on a limited basis and it's usually highly compressed in a non-editing format such as MPEG-2 or similar. NLEs are made to work with video cameras, not still cameras which is why you're having trouble.
That's not to say you can't edit video captured with a digital camera, but you need to know how to prep it for editing. Some digital cameras shoot at odd frame rates and they all use some form of compression that is not typically used in editing. This means that you'll likely need to convert your clips to an editable format first using Compressor.

  • Premerie Pro CC - have sound on timeline, yet when I export file i am missing sound in one tiny clip. Can I be related to working with Merged clips?

    Hello Premerie Pro CC community,
I need help, I am working with merged clips (the video footage shoot with a DSLR and different audio recorders). I have a timeline in premerie with sound all finished. Everything was fine until I when and fine tuned some of the audio, just added key frames to correct and now when I export my sequence I am missing sound in one little clip of the entire mov.
Does it have to do with sound and editing with a merged clip?
I have tried to export in several different settings and still the same result, and when I look at my timeline the sound is all there.
I have until the end of Monday to figure what I have done incorrect
    thanks

In case it is a phase problem, try adding fill left effect to the faulty clip.

  • Mask works in movie clip, not in scene

I've created a movie clip with a mask that I'm using in a
main scene. The mask looks fine while editing/working the movie
clip, but does not show up in the scene.
The really strange thing is that it was working, but suddenly
now it won't show up in the scene any longer. I've tried replacing
it, making a new layer and bringing it in again. But nothing works.
Does anyone have an idea of why this would be?
    Any help GREATLY appreciated!
    dm

scenes are nothing more than the main timeline divided.
Nothing different from one scene to the
other in terms of layer and frame functionality - sounds to
me like you simply dont have the mask
and masked layers locked in that scene.

  • How to free up resources when working with MOVIES ??

    Hi.
I work with movies lots and they slow my whole system down so much. Is there anyway to solve this, such as offloading the video and its processing to another laptop or something? Sometimes, just moving back or forward one bar takes 10 secs as the movie is SO cpu intensive. . .
    Thanks, Ben

    Ben,
have your editor export a smaller, compressed QT file, and have her/him worry about how long it takes to compress - that's not your job. Put it on an external drive, open logic and import the video file. Don't save the QT file in your Logic folder, which hopefully is on your recording drive and not your system drive. I don't record or stream anything from my system drive.
In other words, record your project on an audio / recording drive, stream your QT file from an external and have your samples on a third drive (I realize this is kind'a tricky with G5, but you'll figure it out). Grand total: four drives and everthing works great.
    I hope that helps.
    Good luck,
    H.

  • What version of Quicktime will work with Movie Captioner?

Does anyone know what version of Quicktime will work with Movie Captioner on a MacBook Pro, OSX version 10.2?

If you have a MacBook Pro you can't be running OS 10.2. If you are running OS 10.2, you have some other model Mac, not a MacBook Pro.
Can you provide the correct info?

  • How do I make Photoshop CS6 keyframe panning work with many clips?

    Hello Photoshop experts:
I am having big troubles with applying keyframe controlled panning in Photoshop CS6.  After reading chapter 10 of Photoshop CS6 CIAB, I added a simple cloud animation to my video.  The original video/audio track is in Video Group 1.  I pasted a simple JPEG graphic of a white cloud in to Video Group 2, without anything else in that group.    Following the CIAB directions, I was easily able to make the cloud pan across the top of my video.  Ah, this is easy I thought!
Then, I added a second cloud, this time it was black.  I added this to Video Group 2, right after the white cloud.  Here is where the troubles began.....  I would highlight the image frame of the black cloud, move the playback head/cursor to the right end of the black cloud clip, then click on the "Position" clock to install a yellow diamond keyframe marker.  At that instant, the selected clip of the black cloud would de-select, and the white cloud clip would select instead.  As soon as the white clould was selected, then I couldn't click and drag the black cloud, as that frame was no longer selected.  So, I would click the mouse back on the black cloud frame, and try and set the second key frame marker at the beginning of the black cloud frame for where I wanted the black cloud to sit at the start of the pan............  But then no motion would take place as I advanced the cursor across the frame.
So, I started a Video Group 3, and moved the black cloud into that.  Then, without problems, I was able to use the key frame markers to control the panning of the black cloud across the frame,,,,,,,,,,,  ah, this is easy!  But then, I put in a red  cloud onto Video Group 3, and guess what?  It would not work, the same as before, it only wanted to jump to the black cloud clip as soon as I had set the first key frame marker on the pink cloud.
Note, underneath the first still image clip that I successfully automated the zoom function, there appears a violet shaded area under that clip, going from the starting key frame marker to the ending key frame marker.  It seems as though this should be telling me something, as only the working automated panning sections have the light violet highlighting.  But I can't move or eliminate that highlighting, or get it to associate with the clip I am trying to work with, after the first instance.
I have about 75 little clips I need to pan and zoom in on, and I am NOT going to make an individual Video Group for each clip!  Something is wrong.  I have spent about 5 hours banging my head on this today, and about 2 last night......
    A) Maybe this is too confusing, but if someone can say what is wrong, I would appreciate any help.
    B) Can you recommend an appropriate video (YouTube or other free source) that would shine light on this?  The only videos show just one simple segment getting automated panning applied,,,,,,,,,,,  my problem does not exist in that simple case.
    Thanks, Chuck

  • Working with 60fps clips in 24fps Linked Comp

I am trying to use the time warp effect in Ae to alter the speed of the clip at different points in the clip.  So going from normal 100% down to 40% then back up to 100%, with a nice smooth gradation/ramping between speeds.
This is easy enough to achieve, I know how to do this, but the problem I am experiencing is bringing the clip from a 24fps timeline in Pr into a linked comp in Ae.  The clip is 60fps, and is not conformed in Pr to 24fps.  But when I bring it into the 24fps Ae comp it is slowing the clip down, conforming it to the comps setting, i guess.  I just want it to play back in real time in Ae so that I can edit the time warp myself.
It is especially a problem because now the comp length is way shorter than the clip, which makes working with it an absolute nightmare.

It is very easy to get confused with frame rates. First, the only way to show all of your frames is to have the comp and the footage at the same frame rate. The speed of the playback as it relates to the clock on the wall depends on the frame rate used to record the original footage. If you want to slow down 60fps footage so that is plays at half speed then put your 60fps footage in a 30 fps comp and interpret the footage as 30 fps. Now the every frame of the footage will play back but it will take 20 seconds for the clock in the shot to show 10 seconds.
Most folks have a hard time figuring out how to look at time changes in footage and they make incorrect assumptions. If you want to play your footage at normal speed then slow down the footage, then return to normal speed and your original footage is 60 fps and the final video will be 24 fps then you have to Interpret the footage at it's original frame rate, bring it into After Effects, then enable time remapping. Time remapping will set a keyframe at the start and at the end of the clip. The clip will play back in real time but frames will either be blended or dropped. There is no way around this.
You go to the point in the time line where you want to start slowing down the clip and you set a keyframe, then you go to the part of the clip where you want the footage to play slowly and set another, then you go to the part of the clip where you want to start returning to real time and set another, then you go to the part of the clip where you want to return to real time.
Now comes the fun part. You select all of the keyframes except the first two and drag them to the right. so that keyframe number 3, the point where you want the footage to be at it's constant slow motion part is where you want to have this happen according to the clock on the wall. IOW if you want the first 2 seconds to play in real time then the second keyframe is at 2 seconds, then at 3 seconds you want to clip to start playing back at 1/4 speed you would select all of the keyframes except the first two and drag the third keyframe to the 3 second mark.
Now you select all of the keyframes but the first three and drag them to the right. You need to move the 4th keyframe far enough to the right so that the footage will be playing at 1/4 speed. If you want the original footage from two and a half seconds to 10 and a half seconds to play at 1/4 speed then that's 40 seconds according to the clock on the wall so you would slide all of the keyframes except the first 4 to the right until the 4th keyframe came to the 40 second mark.
You repeat the process for all of the keyframes except the first 4 and move them to the right until you get to the point where you want the clip to return to normal time. Then you go into the graph editor and adjust the curves of the value graph until you get the timing you want with a constant angle between the first two keyframes, a curve between the second and third, a straight line that has 1/4 the slope of the first section between 3 and 4, then a curve between 4 and 5 and the same slope between 5 and 6 that you have between 1 and 2.
I think I already went through this for you in another thread. Maybe it was for someone else.
If you use Twixtor to do this the theory is exactly the same. It just takes a while to get used to thinking in time.

  • Working with video clips

Ok I obviously have some time on my hands and I'm getting ready to start using Motion more often the AE for projects so here is another question(s).
In short how do you make a still frame in the middle of a video clip that will hold through the remaining duration of the project. (i.e. batter swings and hits ball but now i want the motion to stop at the moment of contact).
Also I can't seem to find any section in the user manual that talks about the various way to manipulate a video clips timing.
    TonyTony

    Hi TonyTony
Let me address your 2nd question 1st. Have a look at a post a little further down the forum index called 'Changing the speed of a video clip' by Mr Myth - that should answer your timing question.
If you drop a video clip onto the canvas, and then click on 'project' on the toolbar to reveal the project layers at the side of the canvas, you can then click on the 'media' tab and set the end condition, so you can make the final frame repeat as a still image. (I'm working from memory here, as I don't have motion on this laptop I'm using, so someone correct me if I've got this wrong!)
Also, if you select the movie clip in the canvas (or on the layers view) you can then use the 'inspector' to adjust things like the in and out points etc etc.
Keep on plugging away at Motion - I'm sure once you get a grip of it's powerful features you will come to love it.
Also, Use the search on this forum to find topics starting with 'Fun with' and you'll find examples (incl projects) of just what you can do with Motion.
And look on the motion 'help' menu and do those tutorials - they are absolutely priceless.

  • Advice for working with large clip files

A few years ago I made a movie using iMovie2. At the time I was working with clips recoded on one minidv disc. I am now ready to begin a project (just bought iLife06) that is much larger. I have roughly ten 60 min minidv discs. I am getting nervous about the amount of memory needed to import and work with this many clips.
Is it possible to import the clips to my external fire wire HD? Can I still work in iMovie while the project lives on the ext firewire drive? Can anyone tell me roughly how much memory is needed for larger projects like this? (I expect the final project will be 30-40 minutes).
Since the footage all comes from our European concert tour, it easily divides into 3 separate sections - would it be easier to create 3 different iMovie projects? Is it possible to combine them in the end to create one film?
Thank you so much for your help with this.
    Sincerely,
    Bob Linscott

Is it possible to import the clips to my external
fire wire HD? Can I still work in iMovie while the
project lives on the ext firewire drive?
Should be fine. I've been editing 4 hours worth of footage down to about 50 minutes, on a project stored on a FireWire 800 drive. FireWire 400 (if that's what you're using) is half the speed, but should still be fine, I think.
So, create a new project, save it to your external drive, and then import your footage into the project.
    Can anyone
tell me roughly how much memory is needed for larger
projects like this? (I expect the final project will
    be 30-40 minutes).
If you mean hard drive space for the project, I think you're talking about 11 GB per hour: so, in short, a lot. I think you could import your footage, edit a bit, and empty your trash to free up space, but iMovie does seem to keep your originals fairly relentlessly, so I'm not entirely sure.
Watch out for extracting audio from clips too: I've been doing this in order to do cross-fades, but it increases the size of your movie. I ended up buying a second, bus-powered 80 GB external hard drive just to hold the iMovie project
Since the footage all comes from our European concert
tour, it easily divides into 3 separate sections -
would it be easier to create 3 different iMovie
projects? Is it possible to combine them in the end
    to create one film?
This could well be a good idea. Once your projects gets over a certain length, you may experience the "herky jerky" pkayback issue (search for "herky jerky" on these forums), making editing difficult. So three separate projects might be easier.
To combine them all at the end, you'll want to export the 2nd and 3rd projects as full quality DV (Share > QuickTime > Compress Movie For: Full Quality), then import them (File > Import) into your first project, and add them to the timeline.

  • Difficulties with movie clips and frames

    This is really irking me.
I am extremely new to Flash so please bear with me. I am assuming that this is a simple, easy to fix problem that I am having. I have Adobe Flash Professional CS5.5.
What I am trying to do is display a sequence of images after other movie clips stop playing.
The image sequence itself does what it is supposed to and works properly, and the other movie clips also are successful. However, whenever I try to put the movie clips for the images in frames or keyframes, the beginning movie clips only play part of the way before the images show up. This happens even though the images' movie clips are on frames/keyframes (I've tried both) after the other movie clips.
The movie clips that are supposed to play first are each on a separate layer and there are two of them.
The first layer is called "tree" and the second is called "text"
The tree layer has a 45-frame gif animation that I have turned into a movie clip. I have created a motion tween and changed its alpha so that the gif has a fading in and out effect. I also have it so that it stops replaying once it reaches the last frame. I am using stop(); for this.
The text layer has a 40-frame gif animation that I have also turned into a gif. This gif is also a movie clip and also has motion tween. Its alpha has also been changed.
Both tree and text play together successfully and how I want them to.
The sequence of images is three separate images, each a different layer, that fade into eachother. These images are pngs, therefore they aren't gifs nor do they have their own frames.
The bottom layer is called floor1 and has frames 1 through 50 of motion tween and alpha adjustments fading the png image. The image is a movie clip.
The layer on top is called floor2 and has frames 51-100 of a different png image fading.
The very top layer is called floor3 and has frames 101-150 of yet another png fading.
The images are successful in doing what they are supposed to.
Layers tree and text are one fla file, and layers floor1, floor2, and floor3 are a separate fla file.
When I copy the frames from layers floor1, floor2, and floor3 into a keyframe after layers text and tree, they transfer properly, but when I test the animation, the image sequence shows up a lot sooner than it is supposed to, interrupting the movie clips on the layers text and tree. I have tried moving the floor# layers' keyframes farther down the timeline, but then the other movie clips just stop.
In the fla file with layers text and tree, I've imported the gifs into the library and then put them onto the stage.
In the fla file with the floor# layers, I've imported the pngs into the stage.
Here's what the text and tree layers look like:
Here's what the floor# layers look like:
The rest of the frames for the floor#s...
So, I thought that the problem was that I needed to delay the image squence. I looked around and found no code or anything for that..
Afterwards, I thought that it was because I had imported the tree and text gifs to the library before putting them on the stage.
I opened a new fla and imported the "tree" gif straight to the stage.
I figured that this should work because then it would show each of the individual frames in the movie clips, which it doesn't do in the above pictures. By importing the gif like this, it does show the individual frames. I've tested this with the image sequence and it works fine. But I have a problem with this method too..
I select all of the frames for the gif to convert into a symbol, so I can add a motion tween and mess with the alpha. However, only the last frame is converted into a movie clip. Well actually no... Only the circled frames below are turned into the movie clip. Even when all of the frames are selected.  This isn't very helpful because then I can't change the alpha for the entire gif nor can I create a motion tween without getting a message saying that the motion tween could not be applied to all of the frames.
Here's what this version of "tree" looks like.
And the frames continue like so until 135.
The frames that are turned into the movie clip are circled below.
If I can solve the issue that I'm having with the tree shown in the two pictures above this sentence, then I can display the movie clips and image sequence without a problem. It wouldn't be quite how I had intended it to be, but it would be successful and would still work.
If I can fix the problem with the image sequence showing up to early, and of the tree and text movie clips being cut off, then this project would also be successful and it would be how I had wanted it to be.
If you need clarification, let me know and I'll explain something better.
I am not willing to provide a download link in this forum for my fla files, but I can email them to you if you would like a look. I just don't want someone to be able to find them and take them by doing a google search.
I have uploaded two swfs though.
The first is of the tree and text layers/movie clips working as they are supposed to. The second is of the image sequence (floor1, floor2, floor3) doing what it is supposed to.
    Text and tree: http://glassoliverdesigns.weebly.com/uploads/1/0/6/5/10653451/tfg1.swf
    Floor1, floor2, floor3: http://glassoliverdesigns.weebly.com/uploads/1/0/6/5/10653451/tfg2.swf
Notice how at the end of the text and tree swf, when the text stops the thing in the background keeps flashing. If that can keep flashing WHILE the images appear, then that would be great.
TL;DR: I want the floor# flash to show up after the text and tree flash but I keep having problems and nothing I try is working properly.

Very concise question, appreciate the screenshots. One thing that motion tweens don't always show very well is keyframes. Let me clear a few things up and see if it helps.
Go back to what you wanted to do originally, which is copying the frames from one document to another. This is perfectly fine and to clear it up, it will also copy any library elements (images, clips, etc) that are required to copy those frames for you, so you do not need to import them yourself.
To successfully copy frames (not symbols), select the first frame of the frames you want to copy, hold shift and select the last frame (alternatively double clicking anywhere in the blue motion tween should select it all as well). Now right-click and "Copy Frames". Now go into your new document, select a frame, right-click and select Paste Frames. You will see the same frames copied over, the blue representing the tween and keyframes came with it and you finally will notice all your images/etc were copied into your library.
Now is a good time to manage the library clutter that was just copied in, if you're a clean freak like me.
This process is the same, as you tried, for the other documents you want to copy in. If any resources match in name then Flash will ask you if you want to "overwrite" that library item. If you do that,  you will break one of your previous animations. Make sure that's not the case.
The common gotcha here is not knowing how to slide frames over properly. If overwriting isn't the issue, this is what I suspect your problem is and as you expand/contract the timeline the keyframes aren't going with you.
For example if I import 2 clips with fade in/out and move keyframes as you did I'll get something like this:
Now moving them over I would be very careful to select all of the frames I want to move via the methods above. Click the first frame, hold shift and select the last frame, or double-click anywhere in the middle of the blue. The selection of frames:
Now I simply drag my selected frames to the right, notice the keyframes stay as they should (the black dots):
    The animation plays as expected.
Lastly I'm not sure if you've ever used the panel but you should really get used to the Motion Editor. This gives you control over easing as well as shows you an in-depth view of the keyframes that exist in a selected motion tween.
At first this panel may look complex but it simply represents the basic properties you can animate. Any more properties you animate can be added in here. I moved the X, Y and Alpha properties of my object. So you can see over the frames 30-60 what I did. You can also adjust basic easing here.
If your animations don't look correct you can select a motion tween, open the motion editor and verify the keyframes look correct. Scrub the timeline and look at the values you're interested in. Alpha for example, for you.
If you don't see any keyframes when you scrub the timeline, you moved your frames over incorrectly and the keyframes probably exist in a different place and therefore it appears incorrect.

  • Combining slideshow with movie clip?

    Hello
I have about 20 good quality photos and a one-hour movie clip that I would like to combine. The final product will go on a DVD. All the photos will appear before the movie, which is a 25 fps PAL standard. I think that means the frame size is 720x576. The photos are a little more awkward because while most are landscape in orientation, a few are portrait.
Would it be best to create a slideshow for the photos in Elements Organiser, followed by the video clip, or would it be best to import each photo along the Pre Elements Timeline to be followed by the video clip? Can a slideshow created in Organiser be imported into the PrE Timeline? It is important that the transition from one to the other is seamless, and it is essential that I can have a soundtrack to accompany the photos.
Finally, if I may, given the frame size of the video, what size should the photos be? The originals are quite large at the moment.
Thanks for any advise which I will follow closely.

You say that your source is PAL standard @ 25 frames per second.
If the project preset is set to PAL NTSC Standard, then you should not have any black borders when you import that file into the
project set with the PAL NTSC Standard project preset.
Because of your black black borders in the monitor display of the import, I suspect that your source is really PAL DV Widescreen and not PAL DV Standard.
So, to correct that, then we start again with the settings, and this time set the project preset for PAL DV Widescreen for the import side of things.
And, then, for the export side of things, use
    Publish+Share
    Disc
    DVD
    with Presets = PAL_Widescreen_Dolby DVD.
The "Default Scale to Frame Size" will have the project automatically scaling your import image to the frame size specified by the project preset....
If PAL DV Standard 720 x 576....if PAL DV Widescreen 720 x 576 stretched to about 1050 x 476 by a 16:9 flag, giving the display resolution for PAL DV Widescreen.
    about 1050 x 576.
Please check it out, and determine if that works for you.
    Thanks.
