Working with Transactions in BPEL PM

Hi,
I am working on the Transactions in BPEL by solving the sample (<drive>\product\10.1.3.1\OracleAS_1\samples\tutorials\122.DBAdapter\advanced\dmlInvoke\*XAInsert*) provided in Oracle SOA suite samples. In this, I have performed by taking two different datasources as mentioned in the readme.txt and I am able to acheive the transaction functionality (provided in the sample inserting into two different datasources in a single commit.). However, this transaction is rolled back to the last commit point when there is any error in Insert2Service or Insert1Service. Here the BPEL instance will disapppear since there is no persistent point for this process.
I have used the wait activity in the process before the both inserts to store the instance to the dehydration store, so whenever there is any exception I could see the instance hanging on the wait activity. It never executes any activities further the BPEL engine control is lost for this particular instance.
I would like to know whether can we catch any type of exception thrown by Adapter framework and execute the necessary error handling code in the same BPEL process. Any suggestions. Ideas are welcome. Please throw some light if any of them have done BPEL Transactions with these kind of scenarios. (I am more insterested in doing it without the compensation handler concept.)
Thanks in advamce.

Rakesh

Hi Anirudh,
Thank you for the quick response.
Let me give you brief exact desciption of my what I'm trying to achieve.
I have BPEL process which is performing insert operations into two different databases. I'm trying to achieve this in a single Transaction for both inserts so I have set the transaction property for both Partner Links as "Participate" which enable both the inserts to perform in single transaction. I have already included the exception handler blocks for both the DB Insert calls and also has global exception handler for my BPEL process.
But since I have set the transaction property whenever there is any exception in the second insert or in the first insert operation then BPEL control is lost, it never executes the exception block and instance is disappeared since thare is no commit point. So I have included wait activity before first Insert and now whenever there is any exception the instance rollbacks to wait activity which is the last commit point for my process and hangs there without any control and it never executes the exception block.
Please help me in this scenario how to catch the DB exception in my process and do further error handling tasks.
Let me know if you need further details.
Thanks,
Rakesh

  • Some Problems when i work with Transactions

    Hi all!
    Please help.
    In R/3 Enterprise, I enter a transaction code.
    And after that I execute succession of action. Result - is the subscreen of main screen
    When I launch transaction from My Report using CALL TRANSACTION me32k... , in bdcdata i  set the same succession of action.
    But where is no subscreen!

    Hi Andrey,
    Many transactions behave differently in foreground and when called in BDC. So it may be because of that.

    Hello Everyone,
    I'm Fizzz, I'm totally new to BPEL. I don't know where to start and how to start.
    Right now I'm Working with JDeveloper 11g R1. I didn't go further yet but Now i have to create some BPEL Process that can be integrated to my Web Application. There are some transaction to be Approved or Canceled from BPEL and if Transaction is Approved then i need to Update that Transaction to Peoplesoft's Database. I have 1 week to learn it. and then i need to start my work.
    But i really don't know where to start? What do i need? And how to proceed?
    Can Anybody suggest me the steps that i can follow to get Start with BPEL and done with Peoplesoft connectivity?
    I would really appreciate your help.

    Thanks user11082822 and Vivek..
    Your Oracle Doc links are really very helpful. i would definitely go through these docs to get familiar with BPEL, But i have only one week to understand this part of technology.
    So would request for any Live Example or How to's for Sample BPEL app creation and integration part of that. I would definitely read these document but i need some fast overview on these processes practically.
    Can you please suggest me such things.
    Thank you very much to both of you for your very quick and very helpful effort. :)

  • Why is Fault Policy working only when the BPEL's transaction is requiresNew

    Hi All
    I've defined Fault policy & fault bindings files for faults in my BPEL process. I'm using Oracle SOA Suite 11g.
    But the fault management framework is properly working only when the transaction property(bpel.config.transaction) of the BPEL is set to "requiresNew" in composite.xml
    When i modify it ot required, its not working, i.e. it is waiting for some period and erroring out. I could not manage these errors from the EM as we do for those in Fault Management Framework.
    Why is this behavior?
    I went thru this article, but could not understand it
    Transaction and Fault Propagation Semantics in BPEL Processes(http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E21764_01/integration.1111/e10224/soa_transactions.htm)
    Can someone pls explain this.

  • How Transaction Manager work with Resource Manager, like Connection pool?

    hi,
    I'm using BEA Webloigc8.1 Stateless Session Bean/DAO/Oracle stored proc.
    but I'm not quite clear how Transaction Manager work with Resource Manager, like Connection pool.
    my understanding is that, in a weblogic transaction, a stateless session bean interact with several DAOs, and for each method of DAO a connection is acquired from connection pool. I've heard that the connection will not return to pool until the transaction commits.
    My question is that, does it mean that for a weblogic transaction, multiple connections might be allocated to it? and if multiple connections are allocated, then how many oracle transactions would be started? or multiple connections share the same oracle transaction?
    I didn't feel it make sense to start multiple oracle transactions, cause deadlock might be incurred in a single weblogic transaction.
    any help appreciated!

    any help appreciated!Hi. If you configure your WLS DataSource to use keep a connection for
    the duration of a tx, it will do that, and in any case there can be
    no deadlock however many connections operate for a given XA transaction.
    Here is the best coding form for DAOs or any other user-written code
    for using WebLogic DataSources. This is important for two reasons:
    1 - Thread-safety is maintained as long as the connection is a
    method-level object.
    2 - It is crucial to notify WebLogic that you are done with a connection
    ASAP, by your calling close() on it. We will then put it back in the
    pool, or keep it under the covers for your next request if it's in a
    transaction etc. The pool is optimized for quick get-use-close scenarios.
    public void one_of_my_main_JDBC_Methods()
    Connection con=null; // Must be a method level object for thread-safety
    // It will be closed by the end of the method.
    try {
    con = myDataSource.getConnection(); // Get the connection in the try
    // block, directly from the WebLogic
    // datasource
    // do all the JDBC within this try block. You can pass the
    // connection to subordinate methods, but not to anywhere
    // that thinks it can use the connection later.
    rs.close(); // close any result set asap
    stmt.close(); // then close any statement asap
    // When you're done with JDBC
    con.close(); // close the connection asap
    con = null; // nullify it so the finally knows it's done
    catch (Exception e) {
    // do whatever catch stuff you want. You don't
    // need a catch block if you don't want one...
    finally {
    // It is important to close a JDBC connection ASAP when it's not needed.
    // without fail, and regardless of exit path. Do everything in your
    // finally block in it's own try-catch-ignore so everything is done.
    try { if (con != null) con.close();} catch (Exception ignore){}
    return ret;
    }

  • Does BPEL 10.1.2.0.2 work with SQL Server JDBC 2005 driver?

    Hi, wondering if any one has got 10.1.2.0.2 or .0.0 to work with the SQL Server 2005 jdbc driver. I have placed the sqljdbc.jar file in the OC4J_BPEL/applib/ directory in place of the previous 3 2000 drivers.
    I then modified the connections I had in oc4j-ra.xml so that the:
    driverClassName was com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver instead of com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver
    the connectionString was jdbc:sqlserver:/ instead of jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver/
    Forgot to add that after putting in the new driver and making the above changes we now get an error when running a process that connects to SQL Server that "Connection Refused"
    Aside, has anyone found any performance benefits between 2000,2005 or datadirect sql server drivers?
    Thank you,
    Ashley

    Hi
    Did u able to connect to SQL Server 2005 with jdbc driver.
    If yes could you please provide me the solution. I am also facing the same issue.

           Occurred on     18.06.2009 at   11:01:01
    The ABAP/4 Open SQL array insert results in duplicate database records.
    What happened?
    Error in ABAP application program.
    The current ABAP program "SAPLKED1_WRITE_CE4_BPS1" had to be terminated because
    one of the
    statements could not be executed.
    This is probably due to an error in the ABAP program.
    What can you do?
    Print out the error message (using the "Print" function)
    and make a note of the actions and input that caused the
    error.
    To resolve the problem, contact your SAP system administrator.
    You can use transaction ST22 (ABAP Dump Analysis) to view and administer
    termination messages, especially those beyond their normal deletion
    date.
    Error analysis
    An exception occurred. This exception is dealt with in more detail below
    . The exception, which is assigned to the class 'CX_SY_OPEN_SQL_DB', was
    neither
    caught nor passed along using a RAISING clause, in the procedure
    "RKE_WRITE_CE4__BPS1" "(FUNCTION)"
    Since the caller of the procedure could not have expected this exception
    to occur, the running program was terminated.
    The reason for the exception is:
    If you use an ABAP/4 Open SQL array insert to insert a record in
    the database and that record already exists with the same key,
    this results in a termination.
    (With an ABAP/4 Open SQL single record insert in the same error
    situation, processing does not terminate, but SY-SUBRC is set to 4.)
    How to correct the error
    The exception must either be prevented, caught within the procedure
    "RKE_WRITE_CE4__BPS1"
    "(FUNCTION)", or declared in the procedure's RAISING clause.
    To prevent the exception, note the following:
    Use an ABAP/4 Open SQL array insert only if you are sure that none of
    the records passed already exists in the database.
    You may able to find an interim solution to the problem
    in the SAP note system. If you have access to the note system yourself,
    use the following search criteria:
    "SAPSQL_ARRAY_INSERT_DUPREC" CX_SY_OPEN_SQL_DBC
    "SAPLKED1_WRITE_CE4_BPS1" or "LKED1_WRITE_CE4_BPS1U01"
    "RKE_WRITE_CE4__BPS1"
    If you cannot solve the problem yourself, please send the
    following documents to SAP:
    1. A hard copy print describing the problem.
       To obtain this, select the "Print" function on the current screen.
    2. A suitable hardcopy prinout of the system log.
       To obtain this, call the system log with Transaction SM21
       and select the "Print" function to print out the relevant
       part.
    3. If the programs are your own programs or modified SAP programs,
       supply the source code.
       To do this, you can either use the "PRINT" command in the editor or
       print the programs using the report RSINCL00.
    4. Details regarding the conditions under which the error occurred
       or which actions and input led to the error.

    Hi ,
    you are getting beacuse u are trying to do mass update to database.
    Please check that below note are applicable to your system.

  • My web form is not working with PayPal

    Only seamless gateways such as the "Pro" version of PayPal, eWay or Authorize.net will work with form payments. Gateways that have the user leave BC, such as PayPal Standard, Google Checkout or Realex, only work with the online store.

    I did further testing:
    1. I turned off the IPN and I still received the Error page.
    2. Than I went and turned off the Payment Data Transfer, and now I got the blank page... /PaymentProcess.aspx?paypal=success. However, I still got the paypal transaction ID attached to the orders.
    3. I turned on the IPN and still got the blank  /PaymentProcess.aspx?paypal=success and I still got the paypal transaction ID attached to the orders.So the conclusion is that IPN has no bearing on payments made with PayPal Standard when it is used with custom forms.
    4. I chaged the URL in the Return URL to go to the secure home page instea of to /PaymentProcess.aspx. and...it still sent me to the PaymentProcess.aspx and I still got the paypal transaction ID attached to the orders.
    5. I made the purchase using shoping cart to ensure it works too and this time I even received the receipt on the /PaymentProcess.aspx. The Ref# and Auth Code were "Not Applicable" but it still worked and it was recorded in the orders with the paypal transaction ID
    So my conclusions are:
    1. IPN has no bearing on PayPal payments made from the custom web form
    2. Payment Data Transfer being on sends to the pafe that can't be processesd and it renders Error message
    3. Return URL always send you to the PaymentProcess/aspx regardless what secure url you put in there.
    4. Transcation ID is always passed to the orders as long as it can connect to PayPal. I guess ur will do it as long as the Payment Gateway has the proper informration in there.
    5. It works the same from the custom web form and from checkout form.
    I hope this sheds some light and serves some purpose to whoever is completely confused by this as I am.
    Mario and Liam, thanks for your help. Much appreciated.

  • IPhoto no longer works with Nikon 5100 after upgrade to 10.8

    IPhoto with newly installed Mountain Lion no longer recognizes a connection to my  Nikon 5100.  The USB cable is good, as it works with  my other Macs  -- OSX versions 10.6.8 and 10.7.4, just as it did with my Imac before I upgraded to 10.8.  My Preferences are set to recognize any camera.  I even upgraded to IPhoto 11 v9.3.2, but no help.  Any ideas?

    Hi, I have the same problem with my Nikon Coolpix 5000: camera is not recognized at all by Mountain Lion after upgrading: worked just fine with Lion.
    Problem: I connect the camera, Mac (MacBook Pro Late 2011) freezes for a while (!!!) then external disk icon does not appear.
    Console registers messages like the following:
    20/08/12 19:34:24,000 kernel[0]: USBF: 363761.547 AppleUSBEHCI[0xffffff801fcbf000]::Found a transaction which hasn't moved in 5 seconds on bus 0xfa, timing out! (Addr: 0, EP: 0)
    Strange thing is, my Coolpix 5000 is a very old camera with only USB 1 support: this problem occurs to me with every USB 1 device connected on Mountain Lion!
    Hope they'll fix the problem or just find some workaround...

    Hi Dorothea,
    Thanks for the reply. The property rdbms.connection is already set to jdbc/pool/<sid>.
    This is the file content for config.properties.
    #Generated by Config Tool
    #Wed Oct 17 20:18:08 EDT 2007
    rdbms.maximum_connections=5
    system.name=BID
    secstorefs.keyfile=/sapmnt/BID/global/security/data/SecStore.key
    secstorefs.secfile=/sapmnt/BID/global/security/data/SecStore.properties
    secstorefs.lib=/sapmnt/BID/global/security/lib
    rdbms.driverLocation=/usr/sap/BID/SYS/jdbc/tbx/jt400.jar
    rdbms.connection=jdbc/pool/BID
    rdbms.initial_connections=1
    We are using the toolbox driver.
    The configtool gui opens up properly.
    We tried editing the password for the admin/password/BID...
    in the secure store but still comes back with the same error.
    We did not change the the jdbc/pool/BID/Password as we were not sure.
    What should jdbc/pool/BID/Password correspond to? We are putting in the J2EE_ADMIN passwords as the admin/user/BID is J2EE_ADMIN
    If we change the password for the jdbc/pool/BID/Password, we believe we should be using the password for the jdbc/pool/BID/User, which in this case is SAP<SID>DB or SAPBIDDB.
    We have verified the passwords for this user SAPBIDDB on the i5/OS and they look ok to us.
    To verify, also logged in the portal using J2EE_ADMIN and the password given here in the configtool.
    Still the same error persists.
    Thanks
    Sap Ques
