Workshop & WLS problems

Hi I have been getting the following error. No matter what I do (including checking
out fresh build, doing rebuild, restarting the box) this error won't go away.
This error is preventing from the app getting deployed properly.
The build is fine, build properly with no errors. When I start the server, it
gives the following message. The Server starts fine, but workshop still shows
the RED color icon. The app does not get deployed.
So I went into config.xml and removed the <application> block, started the server
and deployed it from the web-based console. This time, the app deployed fine,
and is working - but Workshop still shows the RED icon and does not properly seem
to be in proper sync with the Server.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Anant

    Hi,
    This looks like a problem with your PATH / CLASSPATH variables... In the startup log you can see that your own JDK is being used to start up the WLS. Normally, this should be the JDK that was installed with JDeveloper / the integrated WLS:
    "starting weblogic with Java version:
    C:\PROGRA~1\Java\JDK16~1.0_1\bin\java -Xms256m -Xmx512m ..."
    This should be:
    "*C:\Oracle\MIDDLE~1\JDK160*~1\bin\java -Xms..."
    Also, your PATH variable was not correctly set during startup, there are no entries for the WLS middleware.
    Could you check the following scripts, for incorrect references:
    C:\Documents and Settings\Holmes\Dane aplikacji\JDeveloper\system11.1.1.1.33.54.07\DefaultDomain\bin\startWebLogic.cmd
    C:\Oracle\MIDDLE~1\wlserver_10.3\common\bin\commEnv.cmd
    A solution might be to close JDev, rename the folder "C:\Documents and Settings\Holmes\Dane aplikacji\JDeveloper\system11.1.1.1.33.54.07" to for example "C:\Documents and Settings\Holmes\Dane aplikacji\JDeveloper\system11.1.1.1.33.54.07.BAK" and restart JDev. This way your JDev settings will be reset. If this does not help, there is a problem with the startWebLogic.cmd script, or your PATH/CLASSPATH variables in Windows.
    Another possibility that comes into mind: you mentioned that you have a weblogic server with SOA suite installed, and JDeveloper. In the installation of JDeveloper, you are asked to use an existing WL Home or create a new one. Did you create a new one or reuse your separate WLS installation? This should be a new WL Home, as this is the integrated WLS used for testing in JDev... Maybe that is what went wrong.
    Hope this helps...

  • Workshop export problems

    When building an integration project the workshop usually create some xml files such as wli-process.xml, wli-subscriptions.xml, wlw-manifest.xml under build\processoutput\WEB-INF directory. Normally when doing local development this is fine. However when going to an external server I usually export the project to an ear and deploy it on the external server.
    It turns out when doing the export to ear sometimes these xml files are not getting copied to the web-inf directory in ear. Obiviously the process will not get deployed without these auto generated xml files. My question is why is this happening? There is no error message and if I do multiple export some ear will have it while some will not. it getting kind of stupid opening up the ear to check for these missing xmls.

    Solution Summary
    Add system property "com.bea.plateng.common.util.logging.useJDKlogger" set to "true" for configexport task, so that ANT target body look like:
    <java \[...] jar="\[...]/org.eclipse.equinox.launcher_1.0.1.R33x_v20080118.jar">
    <sysproperty key="com.bea.plateng.common.util.logging.useJDKlogger" value="true"/>
    </java>
    Solution Description
    The problem is in OSB module "com.bea.cie.comdev", which provides custom logging abstraction classes. Class com.bea.plateng.common.util.logging.LogFactory dynamically detects log4j library. If it is found, returns Log4jLogger, otherwise Jdk14Logger. The problem is that it uses context class loader for log4j detection and current class loader for Log4jLogger instantiation. In runtime, detection finds log4j installed in plugins/ directory (version 1.2.13), but instantiation finds none.
    Specified parameter disables log4j detection.

  • Integrated WLS problem

    Hi.
    I have installed JDev 11.1.1.2.0 under user X in WinXp.
    Everything works fine, development, deployment, everything.
    Today I received new user Y profile on the same computer. When I first started JDev I have migrated system settings from "previous" version. Everything seems to be OK.

    Michael,
    I have tried to set environmental variables as it is said here .
    My new JDEV_USER_DIR and JDEV_USER_HOME point to d:\users\user. Now I have new workspace and new domain is also to be created but without luck.
    I'm getting the same error.
    Within JDeveloper Help -> About and tab Properties I can see all properties that are currently set.
    Everything seems to be OK except ide.pref.dir.base and ide.work.dir.base. These two properties are set to:
    - ide.pref.dir.base=%USERPROFILE%\Application Data
    - ide.work.dir.base=%USERPROFILE%\My Documents
    Can be this cause for the problem?
    Is there any way I can change these two properties?
    Thx
    Regards,
    Boris

  • Workshop cannot start "localhost" server

    Hi,
    I'm using Workshop 10.3 (from Oracle Service Bus 10gR3) on a Windows XP machine.
    I have to run my domains strictly on "localhost". I've edited the default OSB and Workshop domains (i.e. ${OSB_HOME}/osb_10.3/samples/domains/servicebus and ${OSB_HOME}/workshop_10.3/samples/domains/workshop) and defined a "<listen-address>" of "localhost". For example, the workshop domain's config.xml contains:
      <server>
        <name>cgServer</name>
        <ssl>
          <name>cgServer</name>
          <enabled>true</enabled>
           <listen-port>7002</listen-port>
        </ssl>
        <listen-port>7001</listen-port>
        <listen-address>localhost</listen-address>
      </server>
    ...When I start a server for either of the two domains from within the Workshop IDE, I get an error claiming that the server failed to start because it's occupied. For example, the OSB samples domain give the following error log:
    !ENTRY com.bea.workshop.wls.core 1 2000 2010-03-31 14:04:19.114
    !MESSAGE Server watcher[Oracle WebLogic Server v10.3 at localhost (OSB samples domain)]:running Weblogic detected, validating...

    !MESSAGE Another server (or another process) is running on the same TCP/IP port '7021'.
    !ENTRY org.eclipse.wst.server.core 4 0 2010-03-31 14:04:19.661
    !MESSAGE Server Oracle WebLogic Server v10.3 at localhost (OSB samples domain) failed to start.I can guarantee that there's nothing already running on port 7021/7022 (or 7001/7002 which is mentioned when I try to start the Workshop domain with the same failing result). If the server is not running I can see with "netstat" that nothing's using those ports and a telnet to either port will simply fail to connect to localhost.
    In fact, the Workshop IDE simply thinks that the server process failed to start, when in fact it is running successfully. If I access (e.g. for OSB) http://localhost:7021/examplesWebApp/index.jsp I get the samples screen (in fact the browser is started on this address automatically) and can run the samples. I can also access the console by going to http://localhost:7021/console.
    However, Workshop thinks the server is dead and I cannot publish/run projects on the server from within the IDE.
    Any ideas why?

    The problem is related to the fact that the server does not accept connections using the T3 protocol.
    For more details, see Can't connect to administration server using "t3" protocol
    It has not been resolved, but I have an SR pending with Oracle support.

  • Workshop throws NullPointerException when starts

    Hi, I recently installed WL Portal 10.1 on a Windows XP SP2 machine and I'm working on migrating a 8.1.5 app into 10.1.
    Everything seems working fine, until all of the sudden, the next time I open the WL workshop, I get a nasty error:
    An unexpected error has occurred in Workshop. This error may be due to a bug in the program...

    Any help is appreciated! the only way I can get around this error is by deleting the workspace and creating a new one, but after a few days, it happens again :(
    Thanks!
    Javier.

    Vimala, I made the change yesterday (after re-creating the workspace) and was working fine all day. This morning I opened the Workshop for the first time, and the error is back :-(
    Any other ideas?

  • JSP Session ID Problem

    I have a problem, where I am getting two separate Session Id's within the
              same browser instance. This is what I am doing:
              User sees login.jsp. A form that calls a servlet, when they do the submit.
              The first jsp and the servlet have the same Session ID. The servlet sets
              some attributes for that user, then calls
              response.sendRedirect(initial.jsp). The second jsp has a new Session ID, and
              so doesn't see any of the attributes that the servlet set.
              Am I doing something fundamentally wrong here, or is this a WLS problem? We
              are on WLS 6.0, no service packs installed.
              Thanks.

    Cookies or URL encoding?                    Cookies.
              FYI. After that post, I download Service Pack 2 and applied it.
              That fixed the problem, and now a redirect doesn't generate a
              new session.
              Thanks.

  • Jsp forward problem, I think.....

    I have a default.htm page that takes in a feild, EMP_NUM. Once the user
              hits the Submit button, I run a select statement(select.jsp) to see if that
              number exists. If it does then I forward the contents to correct.jsp, if the
              number doesn't exist then I forward to failed.jsp.
              Today is Tuesday, and last Friday I was working on this and everything
              worked fine, in fact perfect. I came in this morning to do some more
              testing, specifically catching errors in my try and catch, example - to make
              sure they enter in a number, and after I type in a number and hit the submit
              button, it trys to go to the next page, but displays nothing, the page is
              blank. Where has before, when everything was working fine on Friday, my
              correct.jsp page or my failed.jsp page would be displayed.
              From Friday to Tuesday I had not made any changes to my files. The only
              thing different, that I can think of, would be that on Friday I would have
              stoppped weblogic and this morning I started weblogic again. This is why I
              think this is a weblogic issue or syntax on my part. I have tried to restart
              my computer, restart weblogic, and I even deleted the .java files that
              weblogic creates and places in the weblogic/myserver/classfiles/jsp_servlets
              folder.
              Below is my source code.
              Please help!

              Sounds like you have some debugging to do. If you didn't reinstall WLS and it worked fine before,
              then I doubt it is a WLS problem.
              Is your page really blank? Try show source in your browser? I think you have some mismatched
              <table> </table>. Try it in both IE and Netscape - one of them forgives you for mismatched table
              tags.
              Add some System.out.println() in your code to see what is being executed.

    Hi,
    I think you are on the wrong forum. This one is for Enterprise Manager Grid Control.
    If your WLS problem is related to GC, please state.
    Thanks
