WOW Wired Headset Works Great on a 2006 iMac, While My 2009 MacPro Is Feeling Inadequate

I dont get it and I must say this is retarded!!!!!!
I've been fitting with the Application "Sound Blaster World Of Warcraft Audio Control Panel" not detecting the headset long enough to wanna walk 20 ft and get reacquainted with my first Mac. Not one issue getting everything to work on my 1.6 Ghz Single Duo Core iMac on the first try. While my '09 Dual Quad Core MacPro sits helplessly idle.
YOU EVER FEEL LIKE A "MAC*******"
It never fails, the "Red-Headed Stepchild" gets more attention!

Welcome to Creative. At least yours worked most of the time.
They claim the mic problems are becuase the mic's are "way better quality than what everyone uses" ... except really the mic's are garbage. They produce very muffled sound and pick up everything in the background. When mine bothers to work (less than 10% of the time) everyone says I sound very sick ... that's how muffled it is.
The funny thing is, I have a Creative Fatal1ty Mk. II wired headset and the mic was amazing on it. I only got this because it was on sale and WIRELESS. I know it's too much to expect to get my money back for this non functional piece of **bleep**, but they are even giving me a run around about replacing it with the wired version ... which is a cheaper model.
Best advice I can give about Creative is stay away. Stay VERY far away.

  • WoW wired headset driver installation issue.

Just bought the WoW wired headset yesterday after several installs, uninstalls and googling for a solution, here I am.
I'm using Windows 7 32bit, headset plugged into one of the back usb ports, they light up but the driver doesn't seem to install correctly. Just keeps saying "device driver software was not successfully installed" as well as a "device driver software is up to date." dialog box.
In device manager its listed under sound, video and game conrollers with the yellew exclamation mark beside it and right-clicking and going into properties it says:
"Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)"
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also having problem with WoW wired headset, except on Mac.
Tried installing, uninstalling, re-installing, updating firmware, changing installation directory, different USB ports, manual copying of files, running in 32 and 64 bit modes, etc. I consistently get an error during installation saying that ">System>Library>Extensions>THXTruStudioPCUSBAudio Plugin.kext was installed incorrectly" during installation when the headset is plugged in prior to or after installation. Nothing works, execpt for the basic functionality of the mic and earphones, as well as the lens color changer. Voice FX, THX Enhancements, EQ (reasons I purchased this headset over others), and any other functionality other than the afforementioned working features do absolutely nothing.
I don't mind a little wait, but it seems as though Creative hasn't really responded to the people who have purchased possibly more than they should have for this headset. I am considering returning this headset for a far cheaper set. It might not have all the creature features of this set, but at least they work the way they are supposed to.
Creative, if you actually care about your customers, you should leave notes, comments, stickies, whatever to describe the status of projects and what you have and have not identified. I've noticed plenty of comments on here that describe problems with this headset, and the most that you have asked is for system profiles, and then silence. Not good business practices.
I remember when the Sound Blaster line of cards was king... Then around when the Audigy line came out, it all went down hill. What happened Creative?
If you need information, if you have questions, please respond. I will be more than happy to work with you to solve this problem.

  • WoW wired headset suddenly stopped working

I took out my microphone briefly and then logged into vent and forgot to plug it back in; this happens a lot, and it's never done any damage. When I did it this time, my headset stopped working full on. Plugging it in doesn't make it light up - logging into vent causes vent to shut down, and there seems to be no way I can troubleshoot it because even the audio control panel doesn't recognize it. I've delt with my voice becoming "digitalized", requiring me either unable to speak in vent or having to restart my computer, and even the poor sound quality of the microphone itself, picking up all the sounds around me - but now it's not working because I unplugged the microphone for a second? This thing cost way too much to be so fragile. Is there a way to troubleshoot this thing back to life or should I can it and call it a day?

Sorry about that but it sounds like something's wrong with the headset. If you have not already, I suggest you contact the place of purchase or contact our Customer Support if you purchase this direct from Creative to arrange for an RMA.

It appears if you are unlucky enough to get ths recurrent fatal error(asI I have) and are not a pc tech,   you have purchased a door stop.  I have purchased hp printers for years but this will be the last.   Like the previous consumer,  I have wasted countless hours on this correction.... Will never happen again.   I will not double the cost of the printer paying consultants who swoop in like vultures to correct the problem.

  • Software Installation error for the WoW wired headset

I just got my new WoW headset in the mail, so am in the process of getting it set up. So I went on to the soundblaster website to find the software, got the Windows 7 64 bit version, as that is what I have.
Problem is, when I went to actually install it after downloading, it gave me a fatal error towards the end of the process, and it has been consistently giving it to me now every time I try to do it. The error code that it gave me to bring up with the site was:
    "Error I-001"
It gives me this error after I choose all the options in the installer, and it actually gets to the installation process. If anyone could let me know what I ought to do about this, please let me know!

I am betting there is a resident portion of the registry that did not get cleared out. Something that was modified or added. There are several routs you can go to check this.
    1. Login to regedit. Go to HKLM (Hkey_Local_Machine)/system/current control set. Then look under enum/root and look for creative related stuff. Confirm it by checking the dwords associated. Delete them. Then do the same thing under services not enum/root and remove creative assoicated items. Then check under software/microsoft/windows/current/run and make sure that the creativ associated items are removed. Also check in that same area under run once.
Another option that might make things more clear cut would be run regmon. (You can get this from sysinternals.com (will redirect to microsoft.) or if you know the exe or can figure it out it is live.sysinternals.com for the non MS rebranded versions.
Run Regmon and then do the install again. Then you will need to stop the regmon monitoring and go and see where the installation was looking in the registry since support is not being helpful in the matter.
Another utility that might help at that point is filemon. It monitors and logs all filesystem changes while it is running. (Can be painful to dig through all of these mind you.)
I hope my suggestions help. DO NOT edit the registry yourself if your not absolutely sure of what you are removing. Some of the changes will require recursive permission changes in the registry. If you hose your registry btw your fubared and will need to start completely over. Possibly even reimage the system so ALWAYS backup the registry or portion there of before making changes. (Can be done from within regedit.)
Again I hope the above is helpful.

  • 2006 iMac - Trouble with Mac OS X Reinstall

This has been a project a few months in the making now, but some time ago my Late 2006 Intel Core 2 Duo iMac died. It had another one of those fatal black rounded-square errors that requires a restart and every reboot after that would yield a "dong!" then the Apple logo, then a radial animation and then it would shut off.
I tried to get into the diagnostic tools which worked! So, I figured I would just do a fresh install (completely erase HD as well) since it was certainly getting on it years. Upon doing so, (mulitple, multiple) times, I managed to download the OS and reach about halfway completion--sometimes even actually 100%--yet a dialog would come up saying that "Mac OS X could not be installed." I should probably fetch the error message but sometimes it can take hours just to get to that point...
I have tried to install previous versions of the OS (10.6, 10.5, even the factory-shippped 104) all with their corresponding install disks with the same result. I even tried to make a bootable external HDD by installing OS X Lion or Snow Leopard from our other 2009 iMac running Mountain Lion, but there doesn't seem to be a way to install older versions of the OS from newer ones even if they are on a different partition.
Any thoughts on this? The 2009 iMac is my parents' and I would love to still be able to use my 2006 iMac while I wait for the Haswell rMBPs--and I have a real soft spot for it since it was my first mac... So any feedback would be awesome, even if you're having this issue too and you want to follow the thread.
    Thanks!

See > Starting from an external USB storage device (Intel-based Macs)
First you will need to put a bare drive into an enclosure or use a universal drive adapter.
Then you should be able to use the newer Mac, but you will have to install a compatable OS X for the 2006 from an Install Disc. (the original 10.4 or either one of the 10.5 10.6 Retail Upgrade DVDs)
    1. Connect the External HD and open Disk Utility in your Utilities Folder.
    2. Highlight the new HD in the list of drives and select the Partition tab.
    3. Under Volume Scheme select 1 Partition and click on the Options... button.
    4. Select GUID Partition Table in the drop down window and click OK.
    5. Set the Format to Mac OS Extended (Journaled), name it and click the Apply button.
    6. Once thats done, insert a compatable Install Disc and Install OS X on the Drive.
Next dissconnect the Drive from the newer Mac, connect it to your 2006 and startup holding the Option key.
After testing the new drive via USB, you should then be able to install it into the 2006.

  • Wow Wireless Headset Mic stops working on Mac OSX 10.6.3

I'm running the April drivers and firmware for my wireless wow headset. After the install of the drivers all was working great. No lag from mic etc. I shutdown my computer went to bed. Next day I booted up, worked a bit and then turned on my headset. Sound worked fine but no mic input detectable from any application. Unplugged the transmitter and replugged it. Sound still works but not mic. I rebooted with the headset on and mic worked. I assumed headset needed to be on during boot up. This morning same thing but even reboot with the headset on doesn't give me microphone functionality.
I've double checked the mic is plugged in properly to the headset but i just can't get any sound out of it.

Ok, I found a work around. It seems the mic doesn't initialize sometimes when i boot up and power on the head set. I can tell the mic isn't working because if i press the mute button the red light doesn't come on indicating I'm muted. To fix this i power off the headset and power it back on. This takes several attempts. I also found it seems to do better at initializing when its not plugged into the charging cable.

  • Unified/Documented problems with Creative WOW Wireless/wired headsets

This thread is to properly present the problems encountered with the WOW Wireless/wired headsets. I will be linking this post to the facebook page as well as World of Warcraft's facebook and Blizzards facebook if I can find one. Also Lucas Arts and THX. Lets see if we can get some eyes on this and move forward. If you frequent a popular site where others are discussing this please bring this thread to light there also.
If it continues unrespondid to my next step will be to notify consumerist.com.
Please note I am to date not having these issues but they seem to be common enough of an issue. (I suspect we may be able to find our own solution also.)
When posting Please follow the below template.
    Problem Description:
A non superlative description of your problem. Please just the facts here so we can all be very clear. Include any software tested with such as Ventrillo or WOW or games used that exhibited the problem.
    Problem Impact:
Here is where we want to share how this makes you Feel. Describe the negative impact to your leisure or professional time with this product.
    System:
Make/Model: (IE homegrown or Dell Optiplex xxxxx)
OS: (Operating System. Please include 64bit or 32 Bit.)
Processor: (i7920 or C2d6600 or whatever you have.)
Memory: (Amount of ram installed and running in the system.)
Video card: (What is the model of the video card in question? Memory installed on it? Manufacturer and such.)
Motherboard: (If you know the model. For instance. MSI x58M.)
Harddrives: (How many drives. What speed if you have them.)
Case: (what is the case? Normally I wouldn't ask but we are talking about Wireless transmission Who knows if that could matter right?)
Environment: (Where is the Wireless Dongle. About how far are you from it. Is something between you and the dongle normally? if so what is it? Do you plug it into the back usb port of your system behind a military grade metal desk from the 40's? That could matter.)
    Troubleshooting:
This is where we describe in as much detail as you can what was done. Lets keep this to facts and try and remove feelings from this portion.
I can only hope with this information I or others can come up with a good solution for us all. Or Creative labs and their associated partners involved on this headset can drive this to a resonable conclusion for us all.
I do want to remind everyone here that we are in a new consumer technology area. There WILL be problems. Creative labs had to know this. Blizzard had to know this. And THX/Lucas Arts had to know this. How this problem is handled will impact all three of these organizations. To what extent is yet to be seen.

    Problem Description:
Voice randomly becomes unintelligible and extremely distorted (think 70's robotic, accept you can't understand it) while in Ventrillo. My brother and I both have the same model headphones and we BOTH have this problem.
    Problem Impact:
I feel cheated out of $119.00 + tax. The main reason for these headphones is for raids and they do not perform the task they were designed for. My guildmates have to be tired of telling me and my brother " Dude your headphones screwed up again." I have sent tickets in and the solutions provided were lame. Reinstall software... mute the microphone? Seriously? All of which did nothing. By the 3rd Email I got nothing at all. Newegg has tons of complaints about this on their site and creative reponded to 1 complaint that was not about this issue, but skipped all with this problem which tells me they do not want to deal with it. I have been a LONG time customer and supporter of creative. This is making me reconsider. If I can't find a solution soon I will return them.
    System:
    System:
    Make Model: Homebuilt
    OS: Windows Vista 64 bit
    Processor: Core 2 duo E8400
Memory: 8 gigs of Corsair Dominator 1600 mhz
    Video Card: 2 x GeForce GTX 260
    Motherboard: XFX 3-way SLI Motherboard
Hard Drives 2 300 gig Western digitals 7200rpm
    Case:Thermaltake Cosmos S
    Enviroment: Wired WOW headset
    Troubleshooting:
So far the only make shift solution I have found to temporarily fix the problem is to disconnect and reconnect Ventrillo. The problem will definately happen again but buys a little time between distortion. The only firmaware I have found is for the wireless headset not the wired. The auto update feature says all software is current.

  • [SOLVED][Bluetooth Headset] Speaker works great, microphone not :(

    Hello everyone,
Thanks to this topic, I manage to have ALSA recognize my bluetooth headset correctly (originally I use it on my phone, works great).
My problem now is : the speaker part is working correctly (I can hear sounds coming from mplayer or aplay on test files) but I can't record any sound ! The only thing I can get is a noisy, continuous scratch sound when I try very basic commands like :
    arecord -D btheadset -f S16_BE blah.wav
    My .asoundrc file :
    pcm.btheadset {
    type plug
    slave {
    pcm {
    type bluetooth
    device 00:1D:82:B4:59:19
    profile "auto"
    hint {
    show on
    description "BT Headset"
    ctl.btheadset {
    type bluetooth
Is there any way to get that functionnal ? Am I doing something wrong ?
    Thanks for your help.

The first thing you should do after acquiring a used computer is to erase the internal drive and install a clean copy of OS X. How you do that depends on the model. Look it up on this page to see what version was originally installed.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.4 or 10.5, you need a boxed and shrink-wrapped retail Snow Leopard installation disc, which you can get from the Apple Store or a reputable reseller — not from eBay or anything of the kind.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.6, you need the gray installation discs that came with it. If you don't have the discs, order replacements from Apple. A retail disc, or the gray discs from another model, will not work.
To boot from an optical disc, hold down the C key at the chime.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.7 or later, it should boot into Internet Recovery mode when you hold down the key combination option-command-R at the startup chime.
Once booted from the disc or in Internet Recovery, launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the internal drive — not any of the volume icons nested beneath it. In the Partition tab, select the default options: a GUID partition table with one data volume in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format. This operation will permanently remove all existing data on the drive, which is what you should do.
After partitioning, quit Disk Utility and run the OS X Installer. When the installation is done, the system will automatically reboot into the Setup Assistant, which will prompt you to transfer the data from another Mac, its backups, or from a Windows computer. If you have any data to transfer, this is usually the best time to do it.
You should then run Software Update and install all available system updates from Apple. If you want to upgrade to a major version of OS X newer than 10.6, buy it from the Mac App Store. Note that you can't keep an upgraded version that was installed by the previous owner. He or she can't legally transfer it to you, and without the Apple ID you won't be able to update it in Software Update or reinstall, if that becomes necessary. The same goes for any App Store products that the previous owner installed — you have to repurchase them.

  • Wired Headsets not working with Galaxy S5

I have a number of wired 2.5mm headsets that I use with other Android based smart phones (Droid 4 most recently). I use multiple 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapters, and they have all working fine for all of them.
When I try to use any of my wired headsets + adapters with my Samsung Galaxy S5 I hear the audio from the headset, but other people don't hear my voice from the headset. When I connect the headset it shows as "earphones" everytime, and indeed does work fine as a earphone, but the microphone does not work. I'm wondering if there is a setting I need to change so the S5 sees my wired headset as a device with a microphone and not just headphones.
Does anyone have any ideas on this?

I found out that the wiring of the contacts is different for some phones.  If the earbuds say compatible with iPhone then the tip/ring/sleeve contacts are swapped in relation to the Galaxy S5's contacts.  See: Phone connector (audio) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

  • WRT160N. Wireless works great until I turn on my wired desktop.

    WRT160n v1 firmware 1.02.2
Only have printer and laptop connected wireless.
    Wired connection works good.
Wireless connections works good until I turn on my desktop ( wired)
If wireless does work with desktop on (big if) very slow page loading.

Well try resetting the router for 30 seconds in such a way that power light is blinking on the router & then do a complete network power cycle i.e., unplug the power cable from the modem & from the router & then plug the power cable to the modem first & once all the lights are solid green you could plug the power cable to the router & you will be able to go online wirelessly.

  • Wired Headset or Wired Earbud problems

I have had my Blackberry 8330 since April of this year (2009)  Overall, happy with it! I noticed that I my wired headset/earbuds (that came in the box with my Curve) would sometimes crackle and stop working.  It would literally seem as though it is switching from my wired set to its regular mode (phone earpiece) on its own. I was amazed that when I used the wired earbuds while on the phone, how clear it sounds... however, it still makes that popping noise and is VERY intermittent.  One day while I was driving, it was going in and out so much, I had to pull them out and just put the phone next to my head. (ANNOYING)  So far, my carrier is not very helpful with all of this. They want to hold my phone hostage for two hours and TRY to fix it!
Another observation.. when I have these wired headset/earbuds plugged in, and it starts popping... if I have the phone on one ear, and the earbud in another... I can hear it switching, on its own from earbud to phone  - back and forth intermittently.  It does the same thing, if I'm listening to music on the phone as well!
If anyone could just check their phone and try to use the wired earbuds/headset that comes with your Curve, I'd appreciate it.  There may be a REAL problem here that no one has found and needs to be fixed.  If you HAVE this problem, please help by reporting it and replying to this thread.
    Thanks

I am having the same problem.  Also, when using the headset that comes with the phone, others have complained that it sounds like I am talking from the wrong end of a megaphone.  I am trying to find a headset that works on these phones.  Is anyone using a headset (pref wired) that has great clarity?  I am trying to solve the same issue.  Maybe with tow of us, we can get some solutions!  Andy

  • Wired Headset

Does anyone have any suggestions for a good wired headset that i can use? i don't like the one that comes with the iPhone.

There aren't many. Etymotic HF2's are very good -- about 179.99 with the same cord controls/mic as on the iPHone, but many people don't like the very poor Bass sound you get with music. I tried a pair and none of the three different shaped buds gave me the bass sound I want on my iPod.
I have the Vibe duo headset -- it's awesome - gives great sound, looks fashionable, and is about as comfortable as any earplug type headset you will get. It also has all the phone/iPod controls on a small control on the right headset cord that works really well.
Of the two, I would recommend Vibe Duo's anyday -- there are also three or four other brands of headsets that now work with mics/controls, and a google search for iPhone Headset will bring up all kinds of reviews for you.

  • Mac OS X, WoW Wireless headset Audio Control Panel

Any updates on the Audio Control panel? As far as I know no mac user has gotten it to work with the headset. The error I found and posted (emailed as well) i hope would have been a lead to fixing it. Any news would be great.
Posting the error again just incase it's gotten over looked (posted in an other thread).
This is about a bug I found in the os X version of the wow wireless headset control panel.
Running the "Audio Control Panel" in the "Sound Blaster World Of Warcraft Audio Control Panel app" I get the following error. (.app are really just packages, so right click on it and view package and you'll find the real app in there under Contents\MacOS\Audio Control Panel).

And there is no way to clean uninstall to reinstall the drivers - I am having to manually sniff around the system folder... Try and resintstall - same issue.
Is there not a Beta Driver we can try and help with?
Cause this is an expensive failure right now.
