Write data to GrossBuyPr in document lines
Hi all
Is there any good workaround to write data to the field "GrossBuyPr" in document lines, according to the circumstance that this field isn't accessible trough the DI API?
Best Regards, Adrian
Hi Adrian,
If it is not exposed to the DI API (which you are right, it seems not to be) then the only way I can think of doing it programatically is by using the UI to set the value in the field in the document in Business One - however, this requires the client to be open and for the document to be added through the GUI and not DI.
As direct update queries are not supported, I'm afraid I can't think of another way to achieve this.
Sorry I can't be more helpful,
Regards,
Niall

Read Write Data into a MS Word document
The requirement I am fullfilling directly specifies the need to write data into a Microsoft Word Document and if Necessary, Read Back data from a Microsoft Word Document. The data will be simple text but as time goes on I anticipate the systems engineers may expand the requirement. I want to cross one bridge at a time so I am just concentrating on the text issue. I must do it from within a stand-alone application. Not through a server, not through ASP, not through a browser, just a stand alone application. It appears from my own investigation of the JAVA API that this is not possible. Regrettably, I am only a day or so away from switching to C# or VB to get this job done. My first question is
1. Can Java Do this?
2. If not, does Sun Microsystems have any plans to add this capabiliy?
3. Can we make recommendations to Sun to add this capability to JAVA?1. Can Java Do this?Java can do anything but there is no built-in ability to do just that.
2. If not, does Sun Microsystems have any plans to add
this capabiliy?
3. Can we make recommendations to Sun to add this
capability to JAVA?Very doubtful! MS Office document formats are not completely open to the public - and they are weird! Supporting this capability would probably require an agreement with Microsoft and it would mean you had to change the API for every time Microsoft chooses to change the document formats.
But there are some open source tools that claim to be rather good at reading and writing MS Office files. Take a look at this one:

How to write data in differt line in .txt file
Hi all,
I am tring to write data on one file using utl_file,
the first cursor loop write data on first line of the file using
utl_file.put_line(..........................);
end the second cusor loop write the data on secion line of the same file using
utl_file.put_line(..........................);
file format we are given as .txt;
problem we are facing is when we open the file in notepad all the data is showing in one line...
same file if we open another tools like edit plus, word pad etc it showing the write formate( line by line)
Can any one help on this we need to set any setups in note pad????????????/As others have said it sounds like an operating system difference.
If your Oracle is installed on a unix based server then the file will be written using Unix style newlines which are just Line Feed characters.
In Windows environments a newline is considered to be made of the Carriage Return/Line Feed character pair, not just the Line Feed.
Some applications such as MS Word or Wordpad can read Unix style linefeeds and interpret them as you expect as a Newline. However Notepad doesn't.
When you transfer the file from Unix to Windows, usually this is done using an FTP based mechanism. If you transfer the files using FTP Binary mode, then every byte of the file is transferred as it is on Unix, and the file will essentially be a unix file on a windows system. If, however, you transfer the files (from Unix to Windows) using FTP ASCII mode, then whenever FTP encounters a LineFeed character it will convert it to a Carriage Return/LineFeed pair of characters, so that the file will appear correctly in Notepad. Likewise if you transfer files from Windows to Unix in ASCII mode, then Carriage Return/LineFeed pairs of characters are converted to just a LineFeed character so that the file becomes Unix compatible. Note, you shouldn't transfer binary files in ASCII mode as it can corrupt them, it's only intented for text based files. -

Write To Measurement File Only One Line Of Data
Hello,
I have an express VI setup to acquire a single channel of strain running in a simple while loop. The output is wired directly to a Write To Measurement Express VI. However, the resulting measurement file contains only one line of data.
I have tried changing the settings of the VI to no avail. I feel that I must be missing something basic. My while loop is setup to take one measurement on demand for each loop. I am assuming the VI knows to write each loop as a new line of data?
Thanks for any help,Did you choose "append to file" in the Express VI configuration settings?
You need to upload your VI for further help. It's impossible to help someone debug a problem without the code to look at. -
Difference between master, documents, document lines, master data row
Hi,
Can some please explain the difference between master, documents, document lines, master data row?
What is the best optimize development technique in terms of architecture and programming?
When to use it effectively?
ThanksHi Juan,
Are you referring to the settings for a user-defined table? If so, these settings are for use with UDOs (User-defined objects). UDOs cannot currently be manipulated by the DI API so setting a user-defined table to anything other than 'No Object' will restrict how you can access this data.
UDOs are really only for user data entry at this time (ie you must use the UI to enter data).

Hp-mkuri can't find support-type; hp can't write data; I can't print
At work, I use an HP LaserJet 1320 over USB. This was working great - and with no particular fiddling needed to get it to work. However, I've started having some problems. I had some issues last Saturday but I thought it was a blip because it apparently randomly got over them and printed just fine. Today, however, I tried to print a 20 page PDF document using lp <filename> from the command line. The response of the printer was to repeatedly flash an orange warning light. The printer status just showed "Processing..." Three and a half hours later, the light was still going and the status was still "Processing...". Examining running processes, the lp process was running and so was pdftops. That is, hours later, it had still apparently not finished converting PDF to PS.
The log files under cups don't show anything terribly interesting except that page_log contains:

There are no errors reported at this time in the cups error log. The last entry is:
E [04/Apr/2012:15:14:08 +0100] Unable to bind socket for address [v1.::1]:631 - Cannot assign requested address.
There's a good chance that the system didn't have access to any printer at the time (except cups-pdf). I wasn't printing and I don't usually turn the printer on or connect it until I need it.

The last type of message fills a good many more lines. Some of the non-finding-device errors earlier are from me connecting and disconnecting the printer etc. I think. i.e. they are not why it isn't working.

I'm a bit confused by this. I don't usually use hp-systray (that I know of). That's the great thing about this printer - I just configured it all through the cups web interface with no need to use hp's printer setup tools or to install any plugin - it didn't need one. But hp/hplip_ac.log says:

Could anyone advise me? I tried searching the forums but although I can find posts on issues similar to other printing problems I've had, I can't find any which look quite like this.I've figured out that this is happening only with certain pdf documents but I'm not sure why. (None contain pictures or diagrams or anything like that.)
Printing a different pdf today, the behaviour is still very strange, though. Basically, I printed a 120 page pdf. Initially, it printed a bit. As far as the computer was concerned, the job was successfully completed. The printer flashed its lights. I pressed a button and it completed the first 56 pages. I then sent 57-120 to the printer. Again, it printed 57-something and then, again, nothing. Job done as far as the computer was concerned. Flashing lights on the printer. In the end, it took 4 or 5 jobs to finish the document.
What's odd about this is that I usually have no problems at all with this printer and this isn't the first time I've sent it a large document.
It is almost as though the computer sends stuff too fast or something for the printer or sends more than the printer can cope with at once. So when it has finished that bit, it waits for the next bit but the computer thinks it has sent the lot and no more is sent. I don't know if that is possible but that's what it "looks" like! -
How to embed data into an InDesign Document
Hello everybody,
I'm porting a QuarkXTension to InDesign CS3 on PC but, maybe, I've found a showstopper...
The current xtension writes some collected data into a document slug that is retrieved by an external application simply scanning the content of the file.
I need to maintain the same way with InDesign but I've discovered that the persistent data added to a document workspace doesn't stay all together when is more than few KBytes (everything seems to be ok until 2 KBytes but that's too little) inside the InDesign document but is scattered on many locations. Of course this makes the work of the external application impossible.
Is there any way to command/force inDesign to write the persistent data insidde the file in one single chunk?
I understand this is something unusual but that's the way that complex publishing workflow works and can't be changed in that part.
Thanks a lot in advance for any help.
Best regards,
Luca SeveriniI think I have found a possible solution to embed my data in a way readable by an external application. To use the XMP toolkit.
Very interesting the fact XMP Toolkit includes the source of a simple command line tool that parses the xmp embedded into InDesign file.
The same source can be easily modified to get all the objects contained in the document aka database.
Bye

Can you help me with this problemMore suggestions.
1. If you align naming conventions between data and your application - reading data could be practically a one-liner.
If you write pafh["id_" + i] (with small case i) instead of pafh["Id_" + i] (with capital case I) the function can be just:
function onLoaded(e:Event):void
for (var prop:String in e.target.data)
pafh[prop] = e.target.data[prop].split(",");
play();
2. If changing conventions is not feasible, here is another thing you can do:
function onLoaded(e:Event):void
for (var prop:String in e.target.data)
pafh[prop.replace(/^\w/, String(prop.match(/^\w/)).toUpperCase())] = e.target.data[prop].split(",");
play(); -
Does anyone know if there is a way to write data to a local xml file using the Connection refresh Button??
Hi there Glenn,
That's tricky...
Are you using SP1? You need to have at least SP1.
The XLFs were generated with an internal build newer than SP1, but they should still work in earlier builds.
If you changed the HTML file, that might be the cause. The SWF references in the HTML file must be exact.
Also, the range names must match as defined in the XLF/SWF. The bolded lines following should match. It's easiest if they all use the SWF name.

Getting Modified date of a particular document in KM Content
Hi,
Can I fetch the modified date of a particular document from KM Content?
I know i can find the date in settings -> properties. But I want to fetch the value of modified date/time.
I want to save that modified date/time in particular attribute in a program developed in NWDS so that I can proceed with my code depending on modified date/time.
Please guide me.
Regards
SiminBelw code snippet gives me the Modified date for the document RFCCall.html stored in documents folder.
public void doContent(IPortalComponentRequest request, IPortalComponentResponse response)
IUserContext uc = request.getUser();
IUser user = (IUser)uc.getUser();
ResourceContext ctxt = new ResourceContext(user);
RID rid = RID.getRID("/documents/RFCCall.html");
IResource resource;
try {
resource = ResourceFactory.getInstance().getResource(rid, ctxt);
response.write(resource.getLastModified().toString());
} catch (ResourceException e) {
// TODO Auto-generated catch block
e.printStackTrace();
You need to add a sharing reference to knowledgemanagement for this to work.

Using Swing applet to write data to file on SERVER
Hello,
I'm in the process of writing an applet using Swing (SDK v1.4.2). Here's the deal. The JApplet calls a JPanel, which will be used by customers on my site to enter data. I'm adding a <Save> button to the "form" which is supposed to write data to a file on the server (in order to preserve the customer's preferences).
Please note that I am NOT attempting to write data to the customer's hard disk. That requires digital certificates, etc. which I am trying to avoid for now.
Instead, I am using the URL class to access the file:
URL page = new URL("http://www.whatever.com/mycustomers/preferences.txt")
I then use the URLConnection class to establish the connection:
URLConnection conn = this.page.openConnection();
conn.setDoInput(true);
conn.setDoOutput(true);
conn.connect();
etc...
I've created a text file (preferences.txt) on my web site. Using the classes InputStreamReader, BufferedStreamReader, and StringBuffer, I can successfully read the file into a JOptionPane in my applet.
The problem comes when I try to write data TO this file. I know the file exists because the applet can read it. I've set the permissions on the file to 666. I've got all of the appropriate syntax within a try statment that catches an IOException. I also have JOptionPanes all over the place to let me know where the program is. I've tried different combinations of output streams like BufferedWriter, BufferedOutputStream, StringWriter, but the file does not get updated. When the applet runs, it does not throw any exceptions, not even when I change the URL from "HTTP://www.whatever.com/prefs.txt" to "HTTP:/www.whatever.com/prefs.txt" (only one slash on HTTP, shouldn't I get a MalformedURLException?)
I apologize for all the background, but I thought you might need it. The bottom line is:
1) Can an applet write to a file on a remote server (not local hard disk)?
2) If so, what (if any) caveats are there?
3) Is there a way to check for file existence or be able to create a new file?
4) I'm using the HTTP protocol - is there some restriction that prevents an applet from writing to a file using that protocol? If so, is there a workaround?
5) Assuming that creating/writing a file using the method I've described is possible, what would be the appropriate output streams to use? (Currently, I'm using OutputStreamWriter with BufferedWriter).
I've been struggling with this for a while. Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks
P.S. I also posted this message on the Applet development forum, but I've received no response as of yet.Http servers support PUT as a mechanism to upload data to a specified URL. Get on the other hand which is what most people are familiar with is how you retrieve that data. The basic URLConnection is an abstraction of the Http connection which can be used for GET and POST operations by default based on doInput(true|false).. If you which to use any of the http methods other than GET|POST you will have to cast the URLConnection to HttpURLConnection so you can gain access to the specific Http functionaility that could not be abstracted.
Since you are using a hosting service the chances are that you won't be able to use HTTP PUT on their server. Most servers do not support HTTP PUT without configuring them todo so. Now Apache allows localized config through the .htacess file. It might be possible (keep in mind I am not an apache expert) to configure a particular directory to allow HTTP PUT using this .htacess file it may not be possible. You will have to consult the Apache web server documentation for that answer.
But regardless you can use the HttpURLConnection and the PUT method to send data from your applet to the server. In fact that is the preferred way to do this. If you can not configure your web server to support that method then you will have to develop a Servlet to do it. A servlet has several methods such as doGet(), doPost(), and doPut(). You would override the doPut() method get the URI path create a file and a FileOutputStream to that file, get from the request the inputstream, possibly skip the http headers, and then write byte for byte the incoming data to your OutputStream until you reach the end at which point you would close the OutputStream and send an Http Response of some sort. Typically in HTTP it would be 200 OK plus some web content. You content can be empty so long as your applet recognizes that is what it should expect...
And away you go... -
Wbs in customer/vendor and gl document lines during initial balance upload
Hi gurus,
Can we enter wbs in customer/vendor and gl documents lines during upload of opening balance upload?
What is the impact of this?? Do we need to run project settlement on 1st day after go live to get data in cost center from ar, ap and gl????
ThanksHi Mohit,
Why do you want to udpate WBS element for vendor and customer line items. Basic concept of said cost object (WBS element) is transfer values to Fixed assets or GL accounts or any other cost objects like cost center ,Internal order,sales order like that.
You can update WBS element for all fixed expenses based on settlement rule and allocation types,which you created in customization and assigned cost elements or cost elment group over there. You can update WBS elements for said line items settle after opening balance update. Please note ,it may not possible to update WBS element for vendor and customer line items.
Basic cocnept of WBS element is cost collector ( You may use to collect revenue also as per nusiness processes) ,collects the cost from various resources and settle to said above objects. Vendor and customer balances are balance sheet accounts,which can settle through payments.
