Write NULL value in 2D array

Hi,
I use LabVIEW 6.1 for some speed measurements. Sometimes it happens that my software was not able to calculate a speed or it finds the found value not worth mentioning, and that is OK.
And after the measurements I write the results to Excel in a 2D array using DDE. But when there is no speed recorded Labview fills up the empty spaces with zero values. But I don't want that because it will affect my statistics like the mean.
Is there a way to write NULL (empty) values to excel instead of the 0?
Thanx in advance.
Illustration:
(x) (y) VALUE
1 2 23.5
2 3 45.78
3 4 <----- Here I don't want LabVIEW to put a zero (0) but an empty space.
4 5 12.23

Excel does not support the concept of NaN so if you do not want to convert to string first, insert NaN yourself into your 2D array and modify the cell update to check for NaN and do not set the cell value if NaN

  • SQL errors in SMS_STATE_SYSTEM - Trying to write NULL values to PropertyLocale

    Hi!
    We are getting a lot of the following error in the SMS_STATE_SYSTEM:
    Microsoft SQL Server reported SQL message 515, severity 16: [23000][515][Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 11.0][SQL Server]Cannot insert the value NULL into column 'PropertyLocale', table 'CM_I20.dbo.CatalogAppModelProperties'; column does not allow

    Please refer to your Configuration Manager documentation, SQL Server documentation, or the Microsoft Knowledge Base for further troubleshooting information.
    I understand what this message means but i cant find which applications are causing the problem.
    (actually i think I do but I still get the error messages after deleting them..)
    It seems it's trying to write NULL-values twice every 5 minutes, but from "where"? What is telling it to update the row with a NULL value?

    Here are part of the statesys.log - It's not very helpful ;)
    Seems it's the  'Update Application Catalog Tables'-task who is responsible for the mess.. But it does not say anything about the application..

  • Remove null values from string array

    Hi ,
    I have a string array in a jsp page which I save some values inside. After I store the values I want to print only those who are not null. How can I do this? Is there a way to delete the null values?

    Thank you but because I am new in programming what do you mean to use continue. Can you explain it a little bit further?<%
    //go through the array to check all the values
    for(int i=0; i<array.length();i++) {
    //If array is null, nothing happen
    if(array==null){
    //leave here blank; instead use continue like:
    //this will skip the statements next to it, and increments the value of i in for loop and continues to execute the body of for loop.
    //The same will be repeated till the last iteration.
    continue;
    //If array not null, then print value in a new line
    else{
    out.print(array+"<br>"); //don't change the logic here
    %>

  • Procedure Array Binding a Null Value

    Can you perform array binding in ODP.NET (to a procedure for example that inserts values) and assume that if there are null values in the array that the records inserted will have the corresponding null values in their records?

    Here's a quick sample using pl/sql associative arrays to insert null values into a table (I think this is what you mean)...

  • NULL Value in Journal Entry and Wrong Tax Summary

    Hi people,
    I need your expert help for a big problem that appens to some customers.
    They run SAP BO 8.8 SP:00 PL:12
    This is the scenario:
    You insert a new documet,  A/R Invoice or A/P Invoice is the same, problem appear in all of them.
    After you insert the document, using SQL Server Management try this Select statment:
    Select * from JDT1 where JDT1.debit is null OR JDT1.credit is null
    A list of record where listed. And, this is the problem, NULL values are all in the VAT Lines in debit or credit colums.
    If you try to make a SUM(debit-credit) you discovery that, 1000,00-null=null
    Consequently, TAX Sumary report, that probably use arithmetic operation like me in SELECT statment,  count a wrong number when null values in DEBIT or CREDIT column in JDT1 for VAT declaration.
    How could I solve? And how i can make invoices store 0 rather than NULL in the VAT Line?
    Thanks in advance for your tips and solutions

    Thaks Neetu for your answer.
    I thinks there is a misurandertanding.
    My problem is not SQL.
    My problem is the SAP TAX Report.
    I used SQL only for check data and discover why SAP raise a wrong TAX Summary report.
    So, my question is: Why invoices write null values in journal entry, and how I can solve the problem that TAX summary report use null value in operations so the results are wrong.
    Thanks,
    Jonny Cortonicchi

    I have tried checking by looping through the ArrayList and then checking for null values like this
    if(myRow.get(i)!=null)
      // do something
    // i have tried this also
    if(myRow.get(i)!="")
    //do something

    From your post I see you are using a 3rd party package to access the Excel SpreadSheets, you will have to look in your API for you 3rd party package and see if there is a method that will identify a blank row, if there is and it does not work, then you have to take that problem up with them. I know this is a pain, but it is the price we pay for 3rd party object use.
    In the mean time, you can make a workaround by checking every column in your row and seeing if it is null, or perhaps even better: check and see if the trimmed value of each cell has a lenth of 0.

  • Is there a null value that I can put into a byte array?

    I have a byte[] that I'm trying to make smaller, at the moment, in order to do so, i'm writing it byte-by-byte to another byte[] called temp. Both are set to the same size, because I don't know exactly what the initial array will compress to.
    For example, my method will write a single byte that will tell the decompressor to carry out the next instruction 5 times (eg aaaaa = 5a), but after the instruction, I want to set the 4 a's afterwards to an empty value so that I can then iterate through temp, finding out how long to make the output byte[] by counting how many null's there are.
    Eclipse is telling me null is not possible to use, I was just wondering if there is an equivalent I can use?

    That's an idea!
    The only thing is then when I come to iterate through the byte array to write it to my output array, it throws up an error that I'm trying to compare a byte to a byte[]:
              int next = 0;
              byte[] n = new byte[0];
              for (int i = 0; i < temp.length; i++) {
                   if (temp[i] != n) {
                        output[next] = temp;
                        next++;
              return output;

  • Getting null values from array

    I have set up an array which is supposed to take the values of a recordset. Only problem is when I display them on the page, I get a list of 'null' instead of the data.
    I'm trying to list first and last name (fname_ul & lname_ul in DB)
    Here's my code:
    <% // Here I'm getting the amt of rows returned
    int count=1;
    while(rs.next()) {
    count++;
    %>
    <%
    int k = count;
    int i = 0;
    String[] fname = new String[k]; // here i'm trying to initialize the string arrays;
    String[] lname = new String[k];
    while (rs.next()) {
    fname[i] = rs.getString("fname_ul"); // here i'm trying to put data into the array;
    lname[i] = rs.getString("lname_ul");
    i++;
    %>
    <table>
    <% for (i=0; i < k; i++) { %>  // and finally here i'm trying to display the array;
    <tr>
         <td><%=fname%></td>
         <td><%=lname[i]%></td>
         <td><%=i%></td> // just something to make sure the rows are counting.
    </tr>
    <% } %>
    </table>
    my result is like this:
    null null 0
    null null 1
    null null 18 // this is correct in that there are 19 rows in the resultset.
    So, why isn't the data from the recordset going into the array??? Thanks for any help out there. Oh, those comments up there, they're not in the actual code, just to explain here.

    I have set up an array which is supposed to take the
    values of a recordset. Only problem is when I display
    them on the page, I get a list of 'null' instead of
    the data.
    I'm trying to list first and last name (fname_ul &
    lname_ul in DB)
    Here's my code:
    <% // Here I'm getting the amt of rows returned
    int count=1;
    while(rs.next()) {
    count++;
    %>
    <%
    int k = count;
    int i = 0;
    String[] fname = new String[k]; // here i'm trying
    to initialize the string arrays;
    String[] lname = new String[k];
    while (rs.next()) {
    fname[i] = rs.getString("fname_ul"); // here i'm
    trying to put data into the array;
    lname[i] = rs.getString("lname_ul");
    i++;
    %>Well, in the first while-loop, you already loop through all the result set, so in the second while-loop, all you get is a null value.
    Also, the way you put the data into the array is not right. I didn't see any array indices. Instead of using arrays, you can consider using Vector, so you don't need to know the number of rows in advance.

  • How to write values to an array and call these to produce an xy graph

    Hi, Hopefully someone can help. I have attahced my VI.
    I am happy with how to write data to a file, which I have already done. The next thing I want to do, is write the pressure and acoustic values to an array for the duration of my testing (Testing is when the log switch is on). Once I switch the log button on my front panel off, I want to be able to call another VI which will display an XY graph of the Pressure and acoustics Vs Time. This will be populated from the array I create. Can anyone please help.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Oracle BI Write Back on NULL values  - Write Back Error

    Hi together,
    Write Back Error
    An error occurred while writing to the server. Please check to make sure you have entered appropriate values. If the problem persists, contact your system administrator
    I receive this message when I try to make a update of an null value in the database.
    update value on value or value to null works fine. So the XML Message is working on production.
    Is this a BUG?

    Hi,
    http://gerardnico.com/wiki/dat/obiee/write_back -- recheck your configuration following this link step by step with screen shots.
    Note : The Problem Occurred two ways,
    1. Problem your XMl Script
    2. If null value not present in your columns in your table in the database.The problem is occured.
    please check below steps.
    1. Are you using OCI or ODBC in your connection pool? Try it with OCI Call Interface 11g.
    2.Remove the commit tag from the XML file.
    <postUpdate>COMMIT</postUpdate>
    =============================================================================================================
    This xml file working for me.
    Insert--
    A couple of small adjustments got your XML to work here:
    <?xml version="1.0"; encoding="utf-8"?>
    <WebMessageTables xmlns:sawm="com.siebel.analytics.web/message/v1";>
    <WebMessageTable lang="en-us" system="WriteBack" table="Messages">

    <update> </update>
    </writeBack>
    </XML>
    </WebMessage>
    </WebMessageTable>
    </WebMessageTables>
    The <writeBack> tag is written with a lower case "w".
    The "connetionPool" needs an upper case "P".
    Update--
    I think that you have to specify also an SQL statement for the update tag, for example:
    <?xml version="1.0"; encoding="utf-8"?>
    <WebMessageTables xmlns:sawm="com.siebel.analytics.web/message/v1";>
    <WebMessageTable lang="en-us" system="WriteBack" table="Messages">
    <WebMessage name="pmet_update">

    <writeBack connectionPool="PMTCOG">
    <insert> select null from dual</insert>
    <update> UPDATE XREF_PMET_URL SET URL= '@{c1}' WHERE API='@{c0}'</update>
    </writeBack>
    </XML>
    </WebMessage>
    </WebMessageTable>
    </WebMessageTables>
    The witeback wants for both the tags (<insert></insert> and <update></update>) an SQL Statement.

  • Not to display the null values from data base

    Hiiii.
    In a jsp file i have ten check boxes.The jsp file is mapped to a servlet file for parameter requesting and to

    That section of the code references a cache to extract an item that has been requested by the user. If the item is not in the cache i.e. if(o1 == null) then it will call a class that generates that object and places that object into the cache. The second time the user makes the same call then they will be handed a cached copy of that object which is aimed to make the whole servlet call faster.
    That section of the code works fine coz I have tested that separately. It is the reading in of the arguments that is causing the problem.

  • About xml and null values in 10g

    Hi, I have an UCM GetFile webservice component wich receives 4 arguments, two of them are null values (rendition and extraPops), and the xml request generated by obpm is:
    <GetFileByName xmlns="http://www.stellent.com/GetFile/">
      <dDocName>V_123410</dDocName>
      <revisionSelectionMethod>latestReleased</revisionSelectionMethod>
      <rendition/>
      <extraProps/>
    </GetFileByName>The problem is: On UCM web service, an empty tag like <rendition/> is treated like a "empty string" value, instead of a null value, and then the response i get isn't the expected.
    What I want do to is change this behavior, and when I put null values in requests, the obpm should not write those tags. Is that possible?
    Should be like that:
    <GetFileByName xmlns="http://www.stellent.com/GetFile/">
      <dDocName>V_123410</dDocName>
      <revisionSelectionMethod>latestReleased</revisionSelectionMethod>

    Hi,
    I have question regarding aggregates. It's possible to read data from BW aggregates? We have webi reports on a SAP BW multi cube and we would like to optimize retriving query.
    >> Because you are using the BW Query as the source all the items that you have done so far in terms of aggregation, indexing, ... is all valid and there are no specific steps required to leverage it with Web Intelligence. Make sure the aggregates are "correct" meansing that they do reflect what you are asking for in the Web Intelligence query panel
    How can we filter in webi query null (#) values. If we create condition that some variabe is diffrent from # we still get null (#) values in report.

    That's because the initial value of a character field is SPACE.  In the same way, the initial value of an integer field is 0.  Again, looking at the ABAP help:
    Type    Initial Value
    b       0
    c       " " for every position
    d       "00000000"
    f       0

    t       "000000"
    x       hexadecimal 0
    xstring empty string of length 0.
