Write & Read Permission

Shortly after starting up my Macbook this morning Time Machine failed to backup on my Western Digital 320GB My Passport saying that I did not have permission and that it was read only. This was a surprise to me because last night it backed up just fine and no preferences changed.
What could be the problem? Should I run a Disk Repair through Disk Utility?

Hello, I just started having the same problem with my iMac and external WD 500G drive. Time machine worked fine last night but this morning the disk is read only and can no longer be written on. In Disk Utility, repair is not available, nor is repair permissions. When I try to run Verify, it is unable to finish the process. I've included the list from Disk Utility. I have also tried to verify/repair with Drive Genius 2, but to no avail. The process always stops because of overlapping extents (extent 3 overlaps extent 2 by 1873 blocks).

  • Write/Read Permissions in temp folder - Help!

Hello, I was playing with settings when I accidentally changed my write permissions in a temp folder and changed all of my user permissions. None of my programs work anymore except for my default programs. Can someone help me figure out how to undo this stupid mistake?
    Stupid and Disgruntled

I can't initiate any downloads for registry fixes. Just another thing I'm having trouble with. I guess it's not surprising since my temporary folder seems to be the root of all these problems.
    The list of broken things;
    directory modifications
    adobe suite
    microsoft office suite
web browsers (except for internet explorer)
     - limited functioning (downloads won't initiate)
    itunes
    windows live mail
    EDIT: system restore
     - The system fails to load the restore point
    There's probably more I haven't tried yet

  • How to Share a document with Read Permission Level?

    Hello
We are creating SharePoint Groups right now, and we have a lot of people in a group called Readers with the Read Permission Level. I have noticed that readers are unable to share documents. When we select a document and click on the ellipses and click "Share"
    we get this message
    "Sorry something went wrong"
"Only a limited set of people are allowed to share this content"
I have noticed that they only way to get this share functionality is to have full control permission which obviously we do not want to give our users.
    Is there anyway around this?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
there are multiple solutions to it
    Option 1
the best way is to create a designer workflow with initiation form
use the below link for how to create workflow with designer
    https://www.webucator.com/tutorial/advanced-microsoft-sharepoint/creating-custom-workflows-with-sharepoint-designer-2013.cfm
Than using designer you can create a ribbon menu and on click of it you can initiate workflow.
    http://www.abelsolutions.com/totm/creating-a-custom-action-in-2-steps-with-sharepoint-designer/
    Option 2
Create a cutom ribbon from above link and you can initate a javascript method.
write code in javascript to send email.
Personally i would suggest workflow as you can achieve so many thing with workflow without coding

  • Unable to open document. Please check to see if you have read permission for the above file.

    System:
    Adobe Acrobat X Pro, 10.1.2
    Windows 7 Enterprise, 32-bit
    Quad Core badass CPU
    4GB RAM
    MS Word 2010 (Office 2010)
I installed the latest version as Administrator and am running as Administrator. I have all rights to all files on the PC.
When I attempt to create a PDF from any Word document, whether .DOC or .DOCX, I get an error window every time:
    "Unable to open document:"
    "[document location]"
"Please check to see if you have read permission for the above file."
This happens after the little notice pops up "Starting the application which created the document...."
If I open Word and create PDF from the ribbon, it works. It still won't allow me to create from Acrobat.
It creates PDFs from Excel files but not DOC files. I've searched for solutions but found none. I did find this from July of 2011:
"I have found out from Adobe technical support that this is a known issue with Office 2010 SP1 installed. This is an FYI for anyone else experiencing this issue, remove SP1 and it will work ok. They said an update to correct this issue will be coming within the next quarter."
I have updated to the latest version 10.1.2 and still have this problem.
This is a major issue, because it also fails on batch conversions, which is what I really need for the 100 or so documents that need to be PDFed. I'm not going to open each individual file and save each one from within Word.
This is a KNOWN ISSUE at Adobe, and if you look through the forums you'll find many people having this problem, and so far, I have not seen any solution.
If anyone has found the solution, please post it here.
    Thanks!
    B

I think I found a solution. It seems to be relatet to normal.dotm.
In our environment we have upgraded from XP & Office 2003 to Win7 and Office 2010. Normal.dot is stored on the users home share. When Office 2010 is started for the first time (for a user) it takes some of the old stuff from normal.dot and puts it in the new normal.dotm. When this happens, we get this error in Acrobat X.
The solution is to rename both normal.dot and notmal.dot to e.g. normal.dot.old and normal.dotm.old. Office/Word 2010 will then create a new, "clean" normal.dotm.
(By the way, if you are in a corporate environment, you might have changed the default path to normal.dot in Office group policies. You can see it here: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\office\14.0\common\general\usertemplates)
I would be interested in knowing exactly why/what in normal.dotm caused this error. I can provide you (Adobe) with a faulty normal.dot(m), if you're interested.

  • Write/read image to avi file, VI works incorrectly from the second run

Hi everybody, in my labview I write image from IMAQ USB to avi file and read image from avi file, the VI runs correctly at the first run then after that it goes wrong, I can write/read only one frame and it terminates automatically. Does anybody know why and how to solve this?
    Thanks a lot,
    Hannah

Without seeing your code I can't comment specifically, but if it runs correctly the first time and then stops be looking for something that is not getting reinitialized correctly. Also what exactly do you have to do to get it to work again? Close and reopen the VI? Restart LV? Restart the computer?

  • I2C Write/Read Error

    Error -301742 occurred at NI-845x I2C Write Read.vi
"Possible reason(s):NI-845x:  The slave did not acknowledge an address+direction byte transmitted by the I2C master. Reasons include the incorrect address set in the I2C configuration or the incorrect use of the 7-bit address. When entering an address to access a 7-bit device, do not include the direction bit. The NI-845x Basic I2C API internally sets the direction bit to the correct value, depending on the function (write or read). If your datasheet specfies the 7-bit device address as a byte, discard the direction bit (bit 0) and right-shift the byte value by one to create the 7-bit address."
We have connected the pull up resistors on the SDA and SCL line.
The error seems to be strange in our case,
    We have two setup
    1. Using a push button to power the device and wires through the pull up resistor.
    2. We are trying to communicate using a NI 2569 for the SDA and SLC and the Power supply to the device.
We do not observe the error in case 1,however, in case 2 we do observe, attached are the waveform pics for the same.
Noted that we have the clock signal rise delay in case 2, is this because of the relay 2569?
Any help will be highly appreciated.

I don't quite understand your setup, and I'm not sure what I'm looking at with the figures you posted. What does the 2569 have to do with the 8451? You also said
    1. Using a push button to power the device and wires through the pull up resistor.
I have no idea what this means.
It's hard to tell from the pictures, but for the Case 1 figure, it appears that you are generating a correct start condition. It's also indicating that are sending a read transaction. You didn't indicate what device you're talking to, so we can't say for sure if this is correct.
In the second case it also appears that you generating a correct start condition. The slow rise times that you are seeing in the clock is probably due to extra capacitance on the bus, or weak pullups, or both. This transaction appears to be a write transaction, but with no data.
At this point, without knowing what device you're talking to, a better explanation of your setup, and the code itself, I'm not sure how much help we can be.

  • User to write/read in file folder

    Hi Gurus,
We are testing File receiver with NFS protocol and the server is running on UNIX system.
So Which user will write/read these files in the foder. We could not able to write files even though we have given right access.

So Which user will write/read these files in the foder. We could not able to write files even though we have given right
    access.
Ask the target-folder admins to provide full access to a user and then use this user in your channel.....user should have 777 access.... in UNIX it is done through chmod 777 ..... for exact notation/ format just make a search on google (the folder-admins would be knowing the format)

  • WL 9.2 won't start due to "No READ permission for key" error

I'm getting this error on startup, and it's preventing a successful start. Application will not run.
I've read that this happens on initial startup, and to "just re-start it". That does not work. Also, I've made sure that failure-is-fatal property in the config.xml is set to 'false'. Still, this error is fatal upon startup.
    Help anyone? Thanks.

  • PowerPivot: MidTier process account should have 'Full Read' permission on all associated SPWebApplications.

First time install of SharePoint 2013 (with SQL Server 2014) and Health Analyzer continuously shows the error in subject line.  Note that I've 'Reanalyzed' the error and attempted to 'Repair Automatically' but no luck.  I've followed the instructions
on related threads for this issue but to no avail.
Verified that the service account used by the App Pool has Full Read access on the web site as below.
First verified what App Pool is being used by the PowerPivot application:
Then verified what domain account is used as the service identity for the App Pool (under Service Accounts, but I can only upload 2 images per post).  The Service Account for the SharePoint Web Services System is <mydomain>\SPServices
Then checked that the domain account has Full Read on the web site
Any help of ways I can additionally troubleshoot would be greatly appreciated...

    Hi Dinesh,
Please use another domain account for PowerPivot Service Application instead of SP_farm, then grant full read permission to the content web applications associated to this service application through User Policy, then run the rule and check result again.

  • How to write read dataset statement in unicode

    Hi All,
I am writing the program using open dataset concept .
    i am using follwing code.
        PERFORM FILE_OPEN_INPUT USING P_P_IFIL.
        READ DATASET P_P_IFIL INTO V_WA.
        IF SY-SUBRC <> 0.
          V_ABORT = C_X.
          WRITE: / TEXT-108.
          PERFORM CLOSE_FILE USING P_P_IFIL.
        ELSE.
          V_HEADER_CT = V_HEADER_CT + 1.
        ENDIF.
Read dataset will work for normal code.
when it comes to unicode it is going to dump.
Please can u tell the solution how to write read dataset in unicode.
    Very urget.
    Regards
    Venu

    Hi Venu,
This example deals with the opening and closing of files.
    Before Unicode conversion
    data:
      begin of STRUC,
        F1 type c,
        F2 type p,
      end of STRUC,
      DSN(30) type c value 'TEMPFILE'.
    STRUC-F1 = 'X'.
    STRUC-F2 = 42.
    Write data to file
open dataset DSN in text mode. ß Unicode error
    transfer STRUC to DSN.
    close dataset DSN.
    Read data from file
    clear STRUC.
open dataset DSN in text mode. ß Unicode error
    read dataset DSN into STRUC.
    close dataset DSN.
    write: / STRUC-F1, STRUC-F2.
This example program cannot be executed in Unicode for two reasons. Firstly, in Unicode programs, the file format must be specified more precisely for OPEN DATASET and, secondly, only purely character-type structures can still be written to text files.
Depending on whether the old file format still has to be read or whether it is possible to store the data in a new format, there are various possible conversion variants, two of which are introduced here.
    After Unicode conversion
Case 1: New textual storage in UTF-8 format
    data:
      begin of STRUC2,
        F1 type c,
        F2(20) type c,
      end of STRUC2.
    Put data into text format
    move-corresponding STRUC to STRUC2.
    Write data to file
open dataset DSN in text mode for output encoding utf-8.
    transfer STRUC2 to DSN.
    close dataset DSN.
    Read data from file
    clear STRUC.
open dataset DSN in text mode for input encoding utf-8.
    read dataset DSN into STRUC2.
    close dataset DSN.
    move-corresponding STRUC2 to STRUC.
    write: / STRUC-F1, STRUC-F2.
The textual storage in UTF-8 format ensures that the created files are platform-independent.
    After Unicode conversion
Case 2: Old non-Unicode format must be retained
    Write data to file
open dataset DSN in legacy text mode for output.
    transfer STRUC to DSN.
    close dataset DSN.
    read from file
    clear STRUC.
open dataset DSN in legacy text mode for input.
    read dataset DSN into STRUC.
    close dataset DSN.
    write: / STRUC-F1, STRUC-F2.
Using the LEGACY TEXT MODE ensures that the data is stored and read in the old non-Unicode format. In this mode, it is also possible to read or write non-character-type structures. However, be aware that data loss and conversion errors can occur in Unicode systems if there are characters in the structure that cannot be represented in the non-Unicode codepage.
Reward pts if found usefull :)

  • Merge a intensity graph to a Serial write/read

    Hey.
I am doing my bachelor in Labview, and are using a arduino 2560 as a microcontroller for a thermal sensor.
After many attempts on connecting the arduino to labview using LIFA.BASE I get connection sometimes, and sometimes not.
I tried the Serial write and read program on the forum, and got much better reliability.
I would like to use VISA, instead of Arduino int.vi
I was hoping I could change the Serial write and read(removing the string) with putting an intensity graph in it?
I have added the bachelor program along with the Serial write and read, can someone please help me??

There is the Simple Serial Write Read example.  That should get you started with talking over a serial port with VISA.
It seems like you have an array of bytes that you need to send.  You just use the Byte Array To String to convert directly into a string and send it.  For reading, there is the String To Byte Array that you can use to start parsing your data.
Show us what you have so far.  Be sure to include any sample data you may have and expected results.  Things get really confusing when stating ASCII and Hex since people can interpret that in 10 different ways.

I tried to do what the readme says, but i think there is a problem with my windows-installation or something is missing.
    a. Go to
your Windows Control Panels, and open "ODBC Data Sources"
    b. Click on the "System DSN" tab
    c. Click on the "Add..." button.
    d. From the list of drivers, choose
    "Microsoft Access Driver"
No problem up to this point, but after i selected the "Microsoft Access Driver" and press "Fertig stellen" the window closes and it look like before, there is nothing like a dialog box (see attached screenshot), so i can´t continue with th points e..g.
    e. At the dialog box, type in
"myDB" for the Data Source Name. Then click on "Select..."
button, and find the file "Sample Database.mdb" included with the
LabSQL examples. Leave everything else as it is, and hit OK.
    f. Close the ODBC control panel
    g. Test the connection by running one of
    the examples provided.
Is there a way to re-install this part of windows?

    Hello,
I am a student/research assistant working on a LabVIEW program that was passed on to me from another student. I am not sure what happened between taht time and now but I am having problems with a write/read step from a Prologix GPIB. I have attached the vi code as well as several screen shots. I have checked the read/write module without running the program and I get a green arrow but still get a error code. After running the program, I get an error that is visible in the block diagram. I am really not sure what to do about this. By the way, I am taking measurements from a Homodyne setup. I will appreciate any help or suggestions. Thank you for your time.
