  • Scan multiple pages into a single PDF document?

How can i scan multiple pages into a single multipage PDF file?
I've seen similar questions posted, but I haven't found any good answers. The only advice i saw was to scan each page as a separate PDF document, then merge them into a single PDF using third-party software.
Obviously, i don't want to have to do that.
I can't believe that there really is no way to do it using the existing HP print/scan utilities provided with the hardware.
My printer/scanner is the "HP Photosmart 5514 e-All-in-One Printer - B111h", and i'm running Vista (64-bit) on an HP Pavillion notebook.
    This question was solved.

    Hi,
From the HP Scan software (Start > Programs > HP > HP Photosmart 5510 Series > HP Scan) select PDF and ensure the resolution is 300 DPI or lower.
Ensure the Show Scan Preview option is checked and click on Scan.
Once scanning the first page completes, place the next page on the glass and click the plus button below the scan preview...
Once you are done click on Save.

  • How to combine pdf pages into a single pdf document

I´ve done this before but I forgot. Can anyone help me?

    Hi profesora.2014.2015,
Adobe Reader is a free trusted standard for reliably viewing, printing, and annotating PDF documents. It’s the only PDF file viewer that can open and interact with all types of PDF content, including forms and multimedia.
In order to combine PDF pages into a single PDF file, you need to either use Adobe Acrobat (Merging and combining PDF files | Acrobat XI - Adobe India) or Adobe PDF pack (Reliably Create PDFs, Convert PDFs, & Merge PDFs Online | Adobe PDF Pack).

  • Compile Form Responses into a Single pdf in Acrobat X

I sent a single pdf using the Distribute function in Acrobat X to several different people.  I was under the impression that I would be able to merge all responses into a single pdf document.  Each form field has a unique name and each field will be filled in by only one person responding.  Is there a way to do this in Acrobat X?

This is not how forms usually work. Ususally, each person fills in the entire form, and the distributor combines all the responses into a speadsheet.
I'm not sure if the tracker is able of doing what you want. But what you can do is export the form data from each file, and then import all of these files into your PDF.

  • Combine into a single PDF bugs, Acrobat 9

There are a things about using the Combine into a single PDF document that are quite frustrating. Two of them have been the case for a few versions of Acrobat, one just since Acrobat 9.
Firstly, only in Acrobat 9 when dragging files into the combine files window I can't ever drag a document to the bottom of the list. If I try it always jumps to the top and then the only way to move it to the bottom is pressing the 'Move Down' button until it reaches there. Ok when you have a handfull of documets. Annoying when there are 30 or so.
Second, when adding 'Outlook Items' the converter always crashes once it reaches the Outlook item whilst converting all the documents. Obviously you can get around this by converting the document first, then adding it to the list, but it's an extra step you do not need to take when dealing with Word, or Excel documents, etc.
Thirdly, if you do not start by opening a PDF document, then click Combine files (i.e. if you open Acrobat without a document open, then click the 'Combine Files' button, if at any point you open then close another PDF document (say to check it's the correct document before inserting it) it automatically closes all of Acrobat, and you lose all the work you've put in sorting the documents into a correct order, etc.
This third one is by far the most frustrating. A warning dialogue saying "Are you sure you want to cancel combining files" would suffice.

By flattening it now will successfully merge into one file, but now there's a new problem.  There are fields that have responses that go beyond the visible size of the field (so there's a + showing on the field).  When I merge to the single PDF anything beyond the visible field size is not there.  Is there anyway of retaining the ability to scroll the fields?

  • Combining FDF files into a single PDF

Problem: I have 9 FDF files that were generated using a python script from within a database. The all refer to a common template PDF form. When I open each file the data is correct for each one. I need to be able to combine the 9 files into a single PDF document (9 pages long). This isn’t a onetime task, so the process needs to be easily repeatable.
Ii tried opening each FDF then saving them as PDF’s, the ODF’s all look correct, each files containing the appropriate data. This issue with this is once combined all 9 pages reflect the data from sheet #1. It’s as if I’ve just pulled in sheet #1 9 times.
I’m very new to the FDF format and am a little confused as to why this is happening.
Any help would be very much appreciated
    Jon

This is correct, and working as designed.
If you use the same field name on two pages, they are the same field.
So, if you combine two documents with the same field name, they are the same field, and will have the same contents.
This is a key reason why PDF portfolios were invented.

  • Help!!! I can't save multiple PDF documents into one single PDF!  Need answers!

    Hello!
I'm trying to save a very large PDF file.  I'm using Adobe Acrobat X Pro.  There are about 200 plus pages and I'm trying to save merged PDF files as one single PDF document.  I've compressed the PDF's as much as I could prior to saving.  For some reason, the process of saving it as a single file takes a long time and usually doesn't work.  Will a higher version of Adobe be faster?  I was told that Adobe X is a 32 bit program and that could be why it's running slow.  I'm unfamiliar with how it all works so I'm hoping someone could offer a simple explanation as to why this is happening and a solution on how to make something as simple as saving a document, go faster.
    Thank you!
    c

Best to keep the replies in the other post, but I wanted to comment on something you said "I was told that Adobe X is a 32 bit program and that could be why it's running slow." Yes, it's a 32 bit program. No, it's complete nonsense to say that 32 bit programs run slow. There seems to be a general belief that 64 bit is better because, well, because, um, because it's a bigger number so it must be, right? Sorry, I'm not mocking you, but there is such nonsense about this, that I think software makers are having to put a lot of effort into making 64 bit software for no good reason at all.

  • Combining files into single PDF document

I recently downloaded an adobe acrobat update and now, every time I try to combing files into a single PDF, I get an error message stating that the PDF could not be created due to an unknown error.  I had no problems prior to downloading the update.  I need this fixed because I have to combine PDF files for school.

    Hello,
Please check if you are able to combining any other set of files. This issue could be related to particular files only.

  • Password required to merge files into a single PDF - why?

I use a registered copy of Acrobat Professional version 8 on my desktop
I routinely download official Adobe upgrades when prompted
I have attempted twice this morning to merge multiple files (in one case two PDF's, in the second a PDF + a JPEG file) into a single PDF.
I do this frequently to manage documents (I'm responsible for maintaining the company's technical file) more efficiently.
Now Acrobat is asking me for a password if I want to merge the documents into a single PDF but none of the documents involved have passwords!
Alternatively I am allowed to combine multiple files into what is called a "PDF Package" without using a password.
I much prefer using the single PDF document option
Why am I being prompted to provide a password when one does not exist - I created the original PDF's in the first place!
Please advise how I can solve this very annoying problem

If I use either of the create or combine file functions at the point in the process where the files have been added and a summary of the files is presented, above the summary, two options are offered.
The first one I am used to - it says merge the files into a single PDF
The second option is to merge the files into what is called a "PDF Package"
I want to use the first option but a warning sign is also present at this stage, informing me that I need a password to use the first option.
If I use the second option I don't need the password.
This change has only appeared today - I am assuming as the result of downloading and installing an official Adobe update - nothing else has changed.
    Hope this info helps
I am running on Windows XP
Thanks for any advice you can offer

  • Acrobat Pro 9: "Merge files into a single pdf" creates blank pages

I have a similar problem as a previous post (which hasn't been answered).
I am able to pdf individual Word documents fine, but when I try to Combine > Merge files into a single pdf, the resulting pdf pages are all blank. I don't receive any error messages or have problems saving the file.
I am using Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 (9.5.1) on Windows 7.
The merging of pdf's hasn't worked at all since I installed the program.
Any help would be much appreciated.

    Hi Bill
Thanks so very much - you have solved the problem.
I tried Document > Insert Pages and that worked.
I then ran the "Repair" feature on Adobe which installed a few updates and I am now also able to merge pdf's by using the "Combine" feature and all the pages show the text/info.
Thanks again for your help, it is very much appreciated.
Thank you also to Apoorv for your assistance.

  • Hiding filenames when combining multiple files into a single .pdf

I'm fairly new to this Acrobat X. I'm trying to assemble my portfolio to distribute to employers but I cannot seem to get rid/hide the filenames in the final pdf file. I was using the option to 'combine multiple files into a single pdf' because I was compiling images and documents to a single readable pdf file. I got all that done but once I open it, I'd see that each page would still contain the original file names rather than page numbers - which I prefer not to have employers see for the sake of tidiness (and I refuse to use the Adobe portfolio because it's not really efficient on space or design. I prefer a simple page-by-page pdf). So I was wondering if anyone can tell me how to hide my file names, change them into page numbers or getting rid of them all together so the 'Table of Contents' in the pdf preview mode would not show anything, I would really much appreciate it.
    -Ss

Well, when the .pdf is in the final, deliverable form; I open it in Mac preview mode and the sidebar is always extended showing a 'table of contents' rather than having each document in the pdf file have a number designating a page name, it shows each individual filename the pdf is composed of. Not too sure about bookmark, though. Thanks for the reply!

  • Combining multiple files into a single PDF/A

The issue brought up in another discussion is the loss of PDF/A conformity when “merging” multiple PDF/A files into a single file (I use PDF/A for preservation of corporate records). The “insert” option retains conformity but does not allow inserting multiple files in a certain order, unless you insert them one by one (which is a pain when you have 50 files to attach).
The solutions I’ve come up with so far:
    1)     1)  In AAPro – combine files into a single PDF and then convert it to PDF/A using Preflight. This is easy, my only problem is that I don’t have AAPro (and AAStandard doesn’t convert to PDF/A).
    2)     2)  In AAStandard – combine files into a single PDF and then “print” to PDF/A. The problem of this “re-frying” is that it only creates PDF/A-1b (not 1a), bookmarks and OCR of scanned pages are lost, and files become significantly larger.
I wonder if anyone knows a more intelligent way around this problem, provided that I only have AAStandard. Thanks!

  • Acrobat 9.5, file corruption when combining .pdfs created from Word or Excel (from Office 2010) into a larger .pdf document

In Acrobat 9, when I combine .pdfs created from Word or Excel (from Office 2010) into a larger .pdf document, there is data corruption. Some of the text appears as blank boxes when the pages are inserted into the larger .pdf, the main document. I have so far solved this by "printing" the files to .pdf, and then inserting them into the larger .pdf main document, but this creates a fatter .pdf file that is much larger than would otherwise be the case. Are there any other solutions within Acrobat 9, please? If this bug has been solved in Acrobat X or XI, please advise. Thanks.

As far as the images are concerned, that may be a result of your choice of job settings. You may want to use the Press or Print option if the image quality is important. I assume you are talking about bit images in this case.
As to the hangup, have you checked to see if AcroTray is active on your system? It may not be running as needed. In the meantime, try checking print to file and then opening that file in Distiller to complete the conversion to PDF.
Before you ever try a reinstall, you need to do a repair first to see if that resolves the problem. There are a lot of unknowns about your exact process for the printing and your job settings that may be part of the problem. The rest of your system setup is useful in some cases, but did not help me see your problem.

  • Can I use CreatePDF to switch around the pages within a single pdf document that scanned wrong?

I understand CreatePDF would allow me to combine documents into a single pdf file.  But, (1) can I move around (switch/correct the order of) pages within a single PDF file?  (2) Can I delete pages from a single file or a combined file?  (3) Once created, can I edit the file in any way?  If these services were available, I would likely subscribe.  I don't want to subscribe without knowing.

Thanks for your reply.  Pardon my ignorance. Acrobat would allow me to move pages around?
