Write text string using actionscript?

Hi,
I'm rather new at actionscript. I know I can do this in
javaScript using "document.write" but I don't seem to be having any
luck with actionscript.
I'd like to include some text strings that display within a
actionscript function.
I have a dynamic text field called "pagecount".
The function is:
function onEnterFrame()
pagecount.text = _parent._parent.rdinfoSlideCount;
I want to include text that says to the user "You are now on
page _____ (results of the function)."
With JavaScript it might look something like this:
function onEnterFrame()
pagecount.text = document.write("You are now on page ") +
_parent._parent.rdinfoSlideCount;
This doesn't work.
What would be the syntax to add text to the actionscript
function?

Hoan - is your question what are the considerations when creating multiligual catalogs? If so, I can tell you that at other clients I have seen them use a single catalog for one or two languages. Using CLOB as a VARCHAR2 to write a string

I have this situation:
After a query, i need to order the query rows in a table. To do this, i write a string using HTML format. Then, i send the string (message) by email, and i save the same in a table (database).
The message, must be 32767 as a maximun number of characters. Because, the message is a VARCHAR2.
When the number of characters is greater than 32767, in can't use this way.
So, i trying to use a CLOB datatype, but i don't know how to write the string and then, send it by email.
I wrote this code:

Now... when you do things like:
xSGLOSA_UNO$ := xSGLOSA_UNO$ || '</table>';
then you are concatenating a CLOB (xSGLOSA_UNO$) to a VARCHAR2 ('</table>') which can be done by either convert the clob to varchar2 or the varchar2 to clob before concatenating. || is a overloaded function which accepts two varchar2 or two clob parameters (amongst others). As the CLOB gets bigger than 32k you cannot just let oracle decide how to convert so, you should do:
xSGLOSA_UNO$ := xSGLOSA_UNO$ || TO_CLOB('</table>');
instead.
And this at every place where you concatenate
eg here too:
xSGLOSA_UNO$ := xSGLOSA_UNO$ || TO_CLOB('<tr><td>') || CONSULTA_UNO.FPR_NRUTOPERADOR || TO_CLOB('</td><td>') || CONSULTA_UNO.OPE_SNOMBRE || TO_CLOB('</td><td>') || CONSULTA_UNO.FPR_SCODPROCESO || TO_CLOB('</td><td>') || CONSULTA_UNO.FPR_DFHOPROCESO || TO_CLOB('</td></tr>');
I don't know the datatypes of CONSULTA_UNO.FPR_NRUTOPERADOR and the other components used...if they are VARCHAR then convert, if they are CLOB then let them like they are.

If you are talking about planning members with a text data type then it is not possible to load the actual text string using a load rule,essbase just stores a numeric value and the text string relating to that numeric value is stored in the planning applications relational tables.

Cp4 AS3 - using Javascript to generate a text string

I'm a complete Javascript beginner, so please forgive me if this is a stupid question!
I need to generate a pseudo random text string. I'm using the unpatched version of Cp4, AS3, Internet Explorer 7
I've had a look at Captivate.Dev.com and the w3schools site to try to understand how to pass variables & basic javascript, and this is what I've come up with:

I've created a user variable called MyJavascriptVariable , put the code above in the On Slide Enter, Execute Javascript window on the first slide, and on the second a simple caption box showing the variable contents.
However, when I press F12 I get an orange playbar at the top of the window, and in the middle the preloader and the captionbox (without the return value) flickering. i.e. classic sign of wrong AS version.
If I change to AS2 the movie progresses ok, but the value the caption reports back for MyJavascriptVariable is blank.
I know my core code works correctly - if I use the w3school's tryit editor with the code after the function declaration up to the closing curly before the objcCP line, with an addeded document.write to show the variable it works fine.
It's clearly something to do with the way I'm declaring/passing the function or the way Cp runs the javascript. But what?

Hi Jon,
You are right... it works great on the W3Schools site. Although in Cp, you ran into quite an issue using the modulus operater (%). Looks like Cp needs the encoded version of this operator which is (%25). Also, if you're using Cp4, then when you go to set the caption, you want to use objCP.cpSetValue(); Cp5 uses cpEISetValue. I also try to use single quotes when working with strings.

Using & in a text string

How can I use & in a text string so that the system doesn't ask for the user to enter a value. eg the string is Joe Blogs & Co. Currently the system asks for the user to enter text.

Use REGEXP_INSTR to find a text string with space(s) in it

I am trying to use REGEXP_INSTR to find a text string with space(s) in it.
(This is in a Function.)
Let's say ParmIn_Look_For has a value of 'black dog'. I want to see if
ParmIn_Search_This_String has 'black dog' anywhere in it. But it gives an error
Syntax error on command line.
If ParmIn_Look_For is just 'black' or 'dog' it works fine.
Is there some way to put single quotes/double quotes around ParmIn_Look_For so this will
look for 'black dog' ??
Also: If I want to use the option of ignoring white space, is the last parm
'ix' 'i,x' or what ?

Ring Item text string too long to display all - use ellipses ?

The width of my Ring control is not wide enough to display all characters in the Item text string. LabVIEW simply truncates the text with no indication that additional text is present. Is there a way to display an ellipses in such cases ? For example :
"Ring text string that is too long"
that is now shown as :
"Ring text string that i"
could be shown as :
"Ring text st...too long"

A couple of suggestions:
1.) Use property nodes to determine which strings are too long, then concatenate the strings with ellipses.
2.) Increase the height so the text wraps.

Using ActionScript to control where a break happens in TLF linked text boxes

Let's say you want to display a directory of people including name and department person works in. This information is in an xml file and ActionScript is used to read the information in and display the text in TLF text boxes that are linked. Is there a way to use ActionScript to control orphans/widows? Meaning, let's say that the first TLF text box fills up and at the very bottom of that text box another person's name appears. Then at the top of the linked text box the department name that person works in appears. Is there a way to use ActionScript to control it so that the persons name doesn't get separated from the department name? Thanks for any help!!

Yes. I believe I understand. I could create another button
and call it "Reset Grid" and call this function, however what I am
hoping for is to have the grid redraw simply by the user entering
new values for the width and height and then clicking "draw
floorplan" again.
Currently the first line of code is:
my_button.addEventListener("onPress",gridf); Should not the grid
redraw each time and then parse the new values in the width and
height fields? I am sure I am just dense but my grid is not
clearing each time the "draw " button is clicked.
You can see this happen on the sample link below. After
entering say 20 width and 20 height values and clicking "draw"
button, the grid is created perfectly. Then if, say new values of
10 width and 10 height are entered and "draw" button is clicked,
the grid does not redraw correctly using these new values.

Could the problem be that the gridf function should happen as
the first function in the script before the new values are parsed
again? Should a: grid_container.removeMovieClip(); execute before
anything else is executed each time the "draw" button is clicked?
