  • Correct No. of Accounts and their Privileges for Installing SharePoint 2013 Developer Machine

    Hi Dear SharePoint 2013 Experts,
I request you to kindly guide like; the Correct No. of Accounts and their Privileges for Installing SharePoint 2013 Developer Machine. Is there any step by step blog or Video on "Installing SharePoint 2013 Developer Machine".
Tried Installing ALL in one single Virtual Machine using account spDeveloper (which is a Member of "Administrators" and "Domain Admins" Group(s). Any kind of SharePoint Web-Application and/or Sites (Developer-Site, Team-Site, ....) can
be created including MySites and Intranet Sites.
    But when tried creating SharePoint App Project in Visual Studio 2013 and deploying, stuck here with 2 weird Issues like;
    1. This task requires the application to have elevated permission
    2. Error occurred in deployment step 'Install App for SharePoint': The System Account can not perform this action
If Visual Studio 2013 is run NORMALLY (WITHOUT 'As Administrator'), it throws above 1st error  - "This task requires the application to have elevated permission"
Because of the above 1st Issue, if the Visual Studio 2013 is run 'AS ADMINISTRATOR', it again throws an error (2nd error) - "Error occurred in deployment step 'Install App for SharePoint': The System Account can not perform this action"
How to over cum this "chicken and egg problem"??

    Hi,
Have you had a look at the TechNet guidance for configuring SharePoint and SQL on a single server? It's here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc262243(v=office.15).aspx
There is also a good TechNet wiki article on creating a SharePoint dev environment here,

  • Windows authentication failure on SharePoint 2013 zone

I am attempting to set up a Windows authentication zone in a SharePoint 2013 installation for use by the search crawler.  The zone has been configured to use NTLM in order to eliminate Kerberos from the equation.  The result of my
attempts to access the Windows authentication zone is a 403 error.  Central Administration is working on the same server, and of course is using Windows authentication.
I know about the issue of using Windows authentication to localhost, and have configured the backconnectionhostnames entry in the registry.  To prove that I can use Windows authentication using the intended host name for the SharePoint zone, I have
set up a test IIS site that binds to the host name used by the zone, and successfully authenticated using Windows authentication.
From monitoring the ULS logs it's obvious that I'm actually successfully completing Windows authentication, and getting a SharePoint claim, but from that point I'm being denied by SharePoint.  I do know that my Windows credentials has site collection
administrator privileges.  The most interesting failure in the ULS log appears to be:
SPApplicationAuthenticationModule: Authorization header doesn't contain Bearer, can't try to perform application authentication.
Another odd thing is that after the ULS indicates I have failed authentication, I'm redirected to /_layouts/AccessDenied.aspx instead of the login page defined in web.config.  I have tried many things, including enabling Kernel-mode authentication.
Below is an excerpt from my ULS logs:

I'm extending an existing claims based web application.  The way I'm testing authentication is by attempting to log in to the Windows authentication zone using the browser and an account with site collection administrator privileges.  I've also
tried using the intended crawler service account, but that also fails authentication.
With regard to the default zone issue, I've already experimented with using both the default zone and another zone, but neither works.
BTW, I already have this working in a SharePoint 2013 development environment, and a similar configuration has been in a SharePoint 2010 production environment for over a year, which makes this a particularly maddening problem.
I have enabled Failed Request Tracing, and get a 401.1, 401.2, then a 403 (which says it was caused by the 401.2).  I'm not sure of the significance, but the 403 trace shows the module for the 401.2 to be UrlAuthorizationModule, while the module for
    the 403 error is FederatedAuthentication.
Per my ULS trace included in my original post, it appears that I'm actually getting a SharePoint claim.

  • Windows Server 2012 R2 - SharePoint 2013

After an front end server upgrade from Windows Server 2012 Datacenter to Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter of our SharePoint 2013 farm, the following error is being experienced when trying to open a document library with Windows Explorer (this
feature worked prior to the upgrade): Message from webpage "We're having a problem opening this location in File Explorer.  Add this web site to your Trusted Sites list and try again."
Our domain is in the trusted sites list (*domain.com), the Webclient services are running, and the User Interfaces and Infrastructure > Desktop Experience feature is installed.
It looks like this error was previously remedied with KB2903928. This update doesn't seem to apply to Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter.
UPDATE: We have also discovered that site email boxes are not working.
    Thank you for your assistance,
    Jeanne

    Hi,
Glad that the issue was solved.
Meanwhile, please understand that before the release of Microsoft SharePoint Server 2013 Service Pack 1 (SP1), Microsoft did not support the installation of SharePoint Server 2013 in a Windows Server 2012 R2-based environment.

  • Can not specify the SMTP server port, username and password for my SharePoint 2013 web application

We have our SMTP server under port number 141 and we should add username and password. but inside SharePoint 2013, I can only define the SMTP server name , from email, reply-to . But there are not fields to define the port number , the username and password.
So can anyone advice from where I can define the port number and other field settings for the SMTP server ?

  • Access Services forms/views in SharePoint 2013

So, in my enterprise we're about to upgrade to SP 2013 from 2010, and Office 2013 from 2007. Should be a hoot!
I'm interested in learning more about Access Services. I undertand that Access Services forms, now called views, are based on HTML 5. Can we present an Access form/view in the browser that has conditional formatting like we're used to in InfoPath--the ability
to show/hide form sections based on conditions?
    Thanks!

    Leon Bryant

Yes. It is possible but not as flexible as InfoPath. We can still use Infopath BTW.

  • Migrate User from Classic mode to Forms Authentication in SharePoint 2013

    Hi All,
I have upgraded a SharePoint 2010 classic mode site to SharePoint 2013 claims authentication. I have executed the command MgrateUser($true) and the user account is updated to Claims mode and I am able to login to the site.
Now I have extended the site to use forms authentication against Active Directory. How do I update the accounts to Form Authentcation mode using Powershell, is there any command available.
    Thanks & Regards
    pankaj

Okay, I would suggest instead to use Web Application Proxy and ADFS 3.0 (using an NTLM connection to SharePoint). This way you get your forms experience for those users who require it (or all, your choice) and you do not have to change anything with SharePoint.

  • Issues when trying to setup alternate sync location of OneDrive for Business / SharePoint 2013 Libraries

    Hello,
I have an issue that prevents me from choosing the alternate location of sync'ed OneDrive for Business folders. I'm trying to setup an alternate location for synchronization, using the guidelines found in the Office support web site.
The option to replace the default sync location appears the first time a SharePoint 2013 Library or OneDrive for Business is setup for synchronization.
Here would be a link to a snapshot (since my account has not been verified): /Forums/getfile/443247
At this point, the Library or personal OneDrive folder syncs correctly and the files are stored in the alternate choosen location.
However, on when trying to setup an additionnal Library for synchronization, the alternate sync location has not been saved and reverts to the default sync location. Furthermore, the option to replace the default sync location does no longer appear
    on the dialog box.
Here would be a link to a snapshot (since my account has not been verified): /Forums/getfile/443249
I have tried by first sync'ing a SharePoint 2013 Library (instead of the personal OneDrive for Business folder) with the same result. Meaning that the first SharePoint 2013 Library correctly sync's in the alternate location of my choosing. However,
any subsequent attempts to sync either a SharePoint 2013 Library or the OneDrive for Business folder results in them being sync'ed to the original default location in a folder under the user's profile directory.
    I'm using Office Professional Plus 2013 (64bits). The version of Groove.exe is 15.0.4605.1000 (12th March 2014 - 13 383 360 bytes).
Is there something I'm missing ?
Thanks for any help on this issue.

    Hi SpringComp,
You can change the root path for libraries you sync to your computer, though you can do this only if you’re not currently syncing any libraries. If you’re already syncing at least one library and you want to change the path, you must first
stop syncing all libraries. Then, the first time you run the OneDrive for Business wizard to sync a library to your computer, you’ll see an option to change the location.
More information, please refer to the link:
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-001/support/change-the-location-where-you-sync-sharepoint-libraries-on-your-computer-HA102893480.aspx
    I hope this helps.

  • Have Infopath form interact with Sharepoint 2013 Workflow

    Situation
I am working on a system having the user fill-in a sequence of list-forms. Form 1 initiates form 2 after closing, Form 2 initiates form 3 after closing etc. This is done by altering the Source= part of the form URL
Form 1 fills list 1 and initiates a workflow to update some fields. This is to prepare some data for form 2. This data is stored in a temporary list
Form 2 fills list 2 gets data from the temporary list and initiates a workflow to update some fields
    Problem
When the second form is started, the workflow of the first is not finished yet. In that case the second form uses the wrong data from list 1.
I want to have form2 waiting for a status update on the first workflow so that the correct data is transferred from form 1 to form2
    Question
How can I delay the presentation/update of a form based on a status of a list workflow. I want to use out-of-the box techniques and avoid program code

No, you cannot submit form values of a acrobat to SharePoint. You can use list form for basic form, else try using jquery to build custom forms as an alternative for infopath. Refer to the following codeplex solution. You could use this or build one similar
to that using the source code.

You can still edit form pages within SPO.  Embedding that script should work.  Have you tested it?
As an alternative, you can set some of the column properties (such as
ShowInEditForm) to No via the SPO Manager but this is a paid product - http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/store/sharepoint-manager-2013-online-WA104025157.aspx?queryid=6e5f213e%2D1ae8%2D4d5c%2D85f0%2D83712736e194&css=sharepoint%20manager&CTT=1

  • Buiding Form for online users?

I have a client that wants a  form with about 100 data entries with instructions on how to fill out the form, about 17 page total.
They want people to be able to fill it out online and all the data they enter will be submited to a database of some kind.
I am a web designer and of course have done simple standard contact forms etc etc...
I am very new to Acrobat Pro and know nothing about liveCycle. I don't even know if acrobat would be the best route to take, or What type of database to use?
Any,Any! Help or addvise someone could throw my way would be greatly appreciated
    I

    jbhoo12,
You may want to check out this post which seems similar to what you are asking: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/332406.
I am familiar with HTML and CSS and have many more hours under Adobe LiveCycle Designer. Having read your post, I would think it far more simple to create the necessary form in HTML and use a pre-existing HTML database option that stores the data for you. A 17 page form in Adobe Acrobat will take you many hours to setup. Once setup, you will be forced to write code or perform some other type of advanced formatting to get it to interface with a database. Unless your client is specifically requesting adobe forms, I would personally recommend HTML as I think it will be easier.
Hope this helps. If I have answered your question, please click on answered question so that I get the points.

  • Forms Authentication in Sharepoint 2013, _vti_bin/authentication.asmx error

I'm getting this error when using CSOM in a FBA web application that is configured agains't a custom FBA provider. I'm getting this error when site is configured for Forms, if a disable forms with windows auth I can get web url. Probably would be a configuration
    error if anyone can helpme...
I'm getting the error when Forms is configured: Server was unable to process request. ---> Could not retrieve the IIS Settings. Parameter name: context
    Here is my CSOM code:
using (ClientContext context = new ClientContext("http://10.34.116.35:41443"))
    context.AuthenticationMode = ClientAuthenticationMode.FormsAuthentication;
    context.FormsAuthenticationLoginInfo = new FormsAuthenticationLoginInfo("carles", "test");
    Web web = context.Web;
    context.Load(web);
    MessageBox.Show(web.Url);
    context.Dispose();
    Thanks

Solved,  internally CSOM calls authentication.asmx webservice if FormsAuthentication is set ... this webservice was throwing the exception... testing the web service in the server login worked against my membership... has to be a silly thing and YES
it was simply calling the api replacing the ip of the server with the host of the web application. Hope helps someone in the future.

  • Windows 8.1 and Sharepoint 2013

    Hey,
Recently a client of mine, upgraded the software of yours computer to Windows 8.1 and lost the access to Sharepoint... what can cause this problem? (IE11?)
    Thanks for

    Hi,
If the issue only occurs in Windows 8.1 IE11, then I’d recommend you also ask the question in our Windows 8.1 IT Pro forum via:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/home?category=w8itpro&filter=alltypes&sort=lastpostdesc
In addition, some customer encountered the similar issue which is unable to access few https websites on IE 11 on Windows 8.1, they solved it by disabling FIPS. You could try as below:
    Open Run > secpol.msc
Local Security Policy > Local Policies > Security Options > System cryptography: Use FIPS compliant algorithms for…
Right-click it and click properties > Disable

  • How scale the services for 4 SharePoint 2013 servers?

    Hi,
I have in my new farm 4 Sharepoint servers. We are more than 1K users but less than 20K users.
    WFE1 just with IIS
    WFE2 just with IIS
APP_Serv1 with CA and all the services except for Search Services
    App_Serv2 with just Search Services.
Is this correct? Is this considered best practices?
    Thanks.

Best Practices would normally suggest moving some services like Search Query, Managed Metadata, and User Profiles to the WFEs.  But there isn't just a single design that works or is the best.  Take a look at the following article.  It suggests
which services to put on which servers.

  • Exam sequence for MCSD: SharePoint 2013 Applications

I know this is a technical forum, but I receieved zero response on "Born to Learn". TIA.
I just passed 480  - I'd like to take mcsd 488 & 489 before completing the 486 exam. This is because C#/.NET is my weakest area, and I would like to do significant ramp-up before starting to study for the exam. Additionally, my team already has an
excellent server-side developer, but is sorely lacking an overall sharepoint brainiac. My concern is that my lake of MVC and C# skills will be a hindrance when working toward 488/489. How important is it to be a proficient MVC developer before I can develop
core and advanced SP solutions? Thanks, Scott.

    Hi Scott,
Welcome to the TechNet forums.  I'm not much (if at all..) of a Developer so I can't in all honesty provide a credible response to this. A recent chat has kicked up very similar to this on SharePoint Community that might we worth your time.
