Writing file proving problematic

Hi,
I have a 2D array that I have stored as a string. I have checked it's out put and it looks very much like it should. It is a 2D array of ints representing the solution to a maze, so it looks something like this:
5 1 1
5 1 1
5 5 3
with 5s being legal moves and 3 being the exit. I've tried every way I know to get this thing to write to a file in this format and I keep tripping on some new line character problem. The output in the file always looks like this: 5 1 1[]5 5 1[]1 5 3
with [] being displayed where the \n should be. Also, when I copy and pasted that in here it displayed it correctly. Anyway, here is my most recent attempt:
public void write(String filename, int[][] maze) {
          String solution = mazeToString(maze);
          try {
               FileWriter writer = new FileWriter(filename);
               BufferedWriter buffWriter = new BufferedWriter(writer);
               buffWriter.write(solution);
               buffWriter.close();
          catch (IOException e) {
          System.out.println(e);
P.S.: What is the code formatting tag for this B.B.? I can never remember

I fixed it. When creating the String for my new line character I did '"\r\n" instead of what I had "\n".
