Wrong fileset size information on Oracle9i Database HP-UX Download?

Could it be, that there are wrong fileset size information at the HP-UX download page for Oracle 9i??
I found the information:
server_9201_hpunix64_disk1.cpio.gz (566,419,019 bytes)
server_9201_hpunix64_disk2.cpio.gz (648,282,885 bytes)
server_9201_hpunix64_disk3.cpio.gz (538,652,554 bytes)
server_9201_hpunix64_disk4.cpio.gz (37,595,939 bytes)
and my archives open but have different sizes.

  • Oracle Announces Oracle9i Database for IBM Linux/390

    Hi Folks,
    Check out the following URL for the announcement, which went out this morning (March 18, 2002 at 8:00am Eastern).
    http://www.oracle.com/corporate/press/index.html?1270638.html
    Also, we've had a report that the Oracle9i Database Developer's Release for Linux/390 works on TurboLinux. I'll post distribution version information when I've received it.
    Barry

    From reading the other messages in this forum I now know that I'm not alone.
    I was lucky enough to get a valid download for 9.2 database for linux but it took
    a number of tries. It would be helpful if there could be a number of published
    mirror sites to try downloading from. Perhaps this is already implemented
    transparently to the end user and it's just luck of the draw that you hit a mirror
    that works...
    However, I've been having problems downloading ora9ias for about 4 days now.
    I'm probably making things worse for others because I've tried to download
    disk 1 and 4 at least 3 times and keep getting files that are close to the stated
    size but usually a few k bigger or smaller; then I get the invalid gzip file error
    message from gunzip. I've tried downloading from IE 5.5, netscape (from both
    windows and linux), trying various ways of downloading (holding shift, or right
    clicking with save as) and still no luck.
    I'll keep trying, but if anyone has any solutions please publish them to this forum.
    thanks.

  • Wrong file size on Linux download page

    Hello:
    This is what the Linux Oracle 9iR2 server download page looks like:
    Oracle9i Database Release 2 Enterprise/Standard Edition for Intel Linux <http://otn.oracle.com/images/white_spacer.gif> Download the Complete Files <http://otn.oracle.com/images/bullets_and_symbols/red_arrow_bullet_35.gif> lnx_920_disk1.cpio.gz (553,607,967 bytes) <--- WRONG!! <http://otn.oracle.com/images/bullets_and_symbols/red_arrow_bullet_35.gif> lnx_920_disk2.cpio.gz (588,817,480 bytes) <http://otn.oracle.com/images/bullets_and_symbols/red_arrow_bullet_35.gif> lnx_920_disk3.cpio.gz (442,135,815 bytes)
    The problem has to do with the first file (lnx_920_disk1.cpio.gz).
    The stated size (553,607,967 bytes) is WRONG.
    I have downloaded those 3 files more than a dozen times, getting
    files of varying sizes. After several weeks, I finally had 3 files
    with consistent sizes. However, the file #1 produces an error
    message from gunzip (unexpected end of file).
    If Oracle Corporation claims to be a technology- and Internet-savvy
    company, they should know that the best way to avoid problems like
    the above is:
    - offering an FTP (i.e. TCP-based) download option
    - including the corresponding MD5SUM next to each file.
    Everybody else (well, probably not Microsoft) is doing this.
    Why not Oracle?
    Thanks from a very frustrated sysadmin.

    Hey mister Millaard,
    I have problem because Premiere always use Mainconcept DV Pro codec when import file in my case.But I find solution:
    From
    C/Program Files/Adobe/Adobe Premiere Pro CS3/Plug-ins/en_US
    I remove
    ImporterMCDVCPRO file and now Premiere import avi files as MS-DV AVI.
    Maybe this can help somebody else.

  • OC4J 9.0.3 (date 07/31) problem with the MDB-demo and Oracle9i-databases (v9.*)

    Trying to get the supplied mdb-demo to work in the J2EE 1.3 certified version of OC4J 9.0.3 (from 07/31).
    It works fine with the OJMS-provider in a Oracle 8i v8.1.7 database but not in a Oracle9i database.
    I have now tried three possible versions of Oracle9i available from OTN and Metalink:
    - v9.0.1.1
    - v9.0.1.3.1
    - v9.2.0.1
    I have noted from the "known-issue-page" that the supported version is v9.0.1.3 with patch #2416054 applied. Unfortunately is that patch only available for Solaris as of today...
    I all cases I get one and the same error message from the CartEJB - bean in OC4J:
    CartEJB::send2Queue: begin; item=QueueqSNDQUE|Queue
    CartEJB::send2Queue; Exception occurred: oracle.jms.AQjmsException: ORA-06550: l
    ine 1, column 7:

    ORA-06550: line 1, column 7:
    PL/SQL: Statement ignored
    CartEJB::send2Queue: end
    Is there some post-installation-step that I missed (e.g. copying som jar-fil from Oracle9i to OC4J...) or is there anything else I can do to get the supplied MDB demo working with Oracle9i?
    Thanks in advance,
    Magnus Larsson.

    Ok...
    Thanks for your help!
    So I will stick with Oracle8i v8.1.7 until the patch is available on Windows...
    Maybe I'll make a try with Linux also (thanks for noting me!), but probably will the Windows patch be available before I succeed with Oracle9i on Linux...
    I will post a reply once I get the patch working on either Linux or Windows!
    Regards,
    Magnus.

  • How to connect to oracle9i database from Unix

    Hi All,
    How can i connect to remote oracle9i database(windows based) from Unix. I have following server information Server IP, Username , Userpassword , DataBase name.Do i need any other information to connect to server?
    How can i connect database from Putty?
    Do i need to install SQL on the Unix to connect to oracle server?
    and which C/C++ API i have to use to access tables from the remote oracle server?
    please help me i am new to oracle .
    Thanks in advance.

    Oracle generally uses a special set of software, commonly called the SQLNet or Oracle Networking, as a layer to provide a connection between the client and the database server.
    In general terms,
    - the client software (perhaps sqlplus, an application, ODBC) calls Oracle Networking on the client computer and says "please connect to database known as 'x'";
    - Oracle Networking translates the request, often by looking up 'x' in the TNSNAMES.ORA file at the client side, to get the host name, the port the Oracle listener is waiting on, and the name of the database service to access;
    - Oracle Networking contacts the computer on the required port. If the listener is there, the Oracle Networking client asks for a connection to the database service;
    - The Listener (if it recognizes it) asks the database service for a 'server process';
    - The database starts up a server process which grabs a network port and tells the listener which port was obtained;
    - The listener tells Oracle Networking on the client which port to use;
    - The client disconnects from the Listener, and reconnects at that port;
    - The server process starts authentication and session initialization, after which we are good to go.
    In answer to your questions:
    1) How can i connect database from Putty?
    That implies you want to telnet to the Windows box and run the client stuff locally on the Windows box. So that means you need to look at telnet or ssh documentation - this has nothing to do with Oracle.
    2) Do i need to install SQL on the Unix to connect to oracle server?
    Not really. It does mean you might want to install an Oracle CLIENT (see the download section of http://otn.oracle.com) which will initiate the sequence as above.
    A different sort of client is SQL Developer, a Java-based GUI with it's own built-in Oracle Networking, that displays database stuff. That is also offered by Oracle at the same download page.
    3) and which C/C++ API i have to use to access tables from the remote oracle server?
    Oracle provides a C/C++ API as a pre-processor, called Pro*C. I suspect this si way beyond what you want right now.
    4) please help me i am new to oracle .

  • How to insert data type information to oracle database

    Hi, there,
    I want to insert date information to oracle database in a jsp page using JSTL. but always got wrong message:

    I don't know how to convert java date type to oracle date type or vice versa. the following is the source code(all the fields of DATE_DEFAULT,DATE_SHORT,DATE_MEDIUM are oracle date type. and even I want to insert d instead d1, I got the same wrong message)

    VALUES(?,?,?)
    <sql:dateParam value="${d}" type="date" />
    <sql:dateParam value="${d}" type="date" />
    <sql:dateParam value="${d}" type="date" />
    </sql:update>
    </body>
    </html>
    thank you very much for the great help!!

    I don't have time to read thru all your code, but I hope this information will help you.
    It depends on how the Oracle database was set up. Usually, the date format is something like this: '27-MAY-2003 22:10:00'. A quick check will be to run this SQL script in SQLPlus:
    select sysdate from dual;
    You have to convert the date from textbox or whatever to this exact Oracle format. Otherwise, Oracle will not accept it. It is very picky on that. I found the best way is to do the conversion inside the SQL statement. It makes life so much easier.
    Hope this helps.

  • JSP and Sending User-entered information to MySQL Database

    I am trying to send user information to my database that I created in MySQL. I made a DB java class, which basically handles my connection to the database, which I know works since I also use it to log into my site.
    The problem is after I have entered my information that I want to add to one of my database tables, the site runs through, but never actually adds it to the database. It is probably my coding, but I'm not too sure.
    Also, I want to display the information from my database on my site. I'm new at this so any information on how to do that would be great.

    3: You are catching and ignoring any exceptions from running the SQL.
    4: You are constructing a SQL string rather than using a prepared statement properly.
    5: Your sql mentions three columns: type, name, quantity. You only supply type and name in the values section.
    try {
                con = DB.getDB();
                // using prepared statement properly with ? instead of creating string values.
                PreparedStatement st = con.prepareStatement("INSERT INTO items (i_type, i_name, i_quantity) values(?,?,?)");
                // what happens if these parameters are not present?
                String itemType = request.getParameter("itemType");
                String itemName = request.getParameter("itemName");
                st.setString(1, itemType);
                st.setString(2, itemName);
                st.setString(3, ?????????);
                st.execute();
    catch (Exception e) {
      // Log or handle the exception
      // this basic code write it to standard error
      // should appear in the console, or in a log file somewhere
      // helps a LOT when figuring out what is wrong
      System.err.println("Error occurred " + e.getMessage());
      e.printStackTrace();
    }Cheers,

    Downloading Oracle9i Database Release 2 Enterprise/Standard/Personal Edition for Windows NT/2000/XP. I have Windows XP Media Edition on my home PC. The file sizes do not match the page and when I try to unzip I get the message it is not a valid archive.

    If you read the Release notes for 9.2.0.3 for Win 2003, it says
    "Releases prior to the 9.2.0.3.0 patch set are not certified on Windows Server 2003".
    You'll avoid known and maybe some unknown problems with it, so just install 9.2.0.1 and then apply 9.2.0.3 patch set and be happy :)

  • Trying to display information already in database in a form

    I am trying to get this to pull the current information in the database and display it in a form which can then be updated. The update function works fine, in fact everything works fine except it does not display the current information. It shows up as blank fields so to update all of the fields you have to type in the information for the fields you don't want to update also otherwise it clears what is in there.
    <?php

    First your have:
    $num=mysql_numrows($result);
    When it should be:
    $num=mysql_num_rows($result);
    I dont understand the while loop if you are looking for one row?  Why not just:
    $row= mysql_fetch_assoc($query);
    <td><input type="text" name="u_client_address" size="30" value='<?php echo(str_replace('"', '&quot;', $row['city'])); ?>'></td></tr>
        <tr><td>City :</td>
