XAML Binding for relationship property

hi,
I'm trying to bind a relationship property to a TextBox in a XAML form.
<ListView VerticalAlignment="Top" x:Name="listviewtest" MinHeight="350" ItemsSource="{Binding Path=componentalias, UpdateSourceTrigger=PropertyChanged, Mode=TwoWay}">
<ListView.View>
<GridView>
<GridViewColumn Header="Field1"
DisplayMemberBinding="{Binding Path=field1}"
Width="Auto" />
<GridViewColumn Header="Field2"
DisplayMemberBinding="{Binding field2}"
Width="Auto" />
<GridViewColumn Header="Field3"
Width="Auto">
<GridViewColumn.CellTemplate>
<DataTemplate>
<TextBox Text="{Binding Path=relationshipproperty, Mode=TwoWay, UpdateSourceTrigger=PropertyChanged}"/>
</DataTemplate>
</GridViewColumn.CellTemplate>
</GridViewColumn>
</GridView>
</ListView.View>
</ListView>
What am I missing?
thanks!

Sorry about that! Folks tend to use "relationship" and "property" interchangeably.
Are you using the console API (The IDataItem stuff)? If so, I'm not sure if relationship property binding is supported. The console API does have interfaces for relationship objects (in the form of the EnterpriseManagementRelationshipObjectDataType class),
however, I'm not sure how (or even if) they exist within an IDataItem or BindableCachedDataItem projection.
For reference, the windows computer form displays an Installed Software item's "Installed Date" which is a relationship property. However, the windows computer form exposes that property via a viewmodel proxy. It doesn't get the InstalledDate from
the IDataItem..instead, it queries the SDK (technically the DAS) for the relationship's properties, then loads them into the viewmodel proxy. Only one-way binding is supported though..there's no mechanism to update the installed date from the form. In
order to update a relationship property with the proxy method, you would have to update the relationship properties later via the standard SDK..which would be problematic at best (it would probably cause collisions), and would be convoluted to implement anyway.
Mixing Console API updates and SDK updates is rarely a good idea.
I'll dig into the console API a little bit and see if relationship properties/binding are supported at all. I'm curious now.

    As the error states, the x:Uid must be plain text. You cannot bind it to a brush.

  • Dynamic value binding for InputTextField - Expression within an expression

    Hi,
    I have this requirement where I have to use an EL expression's output as a bean's property in the value attribute of a InputTextField. E.g.
              <h:dataTable value="#{entity.formats}" var="field">
                   <h:column>
                        <h:outputLabel value="#{field.shortDesr}"/>
                   </h:column>
                   <h:column>
                        <h:inputText value="#{*entity."+#{field.shortDesr}+*"}"/>
                   </h:column>
              </h:dataTable>
    The JSF page will be a generic one so the fields within a form will be dynamic and will be formed at run-time. Since the exact bean property(entity in the code above) for a particular field is not known before, it needs to be dynamicaly built
    To give more clarity. In the following snippet, i know that entity is the bean to be used but which property(XXX) the text field has to be bound is not known and needs to be assigned at run-time.
    <h:inputText value="#{entity.*XXX*"/>
    Is this possible? Are there any direct JSF solution or work arounds for it? Appreciate your inputs.
    Thanks
    Ranjith

A: Dynamic value binding for InputTextField - Expression within an expression

Hi BaluSC,
Your solution is totally acceptable. But I was also looking for something that can make possible direct binding to the bean properties without going through a Map.
In the meantime, I worked around the problem by not using the DataTable. Instead I loop the collection and add the Form elements programatically (code given below). With this I am able to achieve the desired effect of binding directly to the bean's property. But I am hitting another problem now, On submit the form Seam throws up 'No active conversational context" error while binding the #{sdmManager.grid} attribute. Now, I am trying to figure out how to come across it.
JSF
     <h:panelGrid columns="2" binding="#{sdmManager.grid}">
</h:panelGrid>
Bean code
     public HtmlPanelGrid getGrid(){
     grid = new HtmlPanelGrid();
     List<UIComponent> children = grid.getChildren();
     Collection<FieldFormatData> formats = dataManager.getFieldFormatData();
     for(FieldFormatData format:formats){
          HtmlOutputLabel outputLabel = new HtmlOutputLabel();
          outputLabel.setValue(format.getShortDesr());
          children.add(outputLabel);
          HtmlInputText inputText = new HtmlInputText();
          inputText.setSize(10);
          inputText.setMaxlength(10);
          System.out.println("Binding ................................... " + format.getEntityField());
          inputText.setValueBinding("value", FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getApplication().createValueBinding("#{entity."+format.getEntityField()+"}"));
          children.add(inputText);
     return grid;

  • Property binding causes Bean property to be null when Component is readonly

    I am retrieving an object (instantiation of a Bean) from a list of objects displayed in a table.
    A set of components (textfields, textareas) are bound to the properties of the retrieved object. - propertybinding, text property bound to name property of managed bean.
    If I make any of the bound components read-only the corresponding property of the bound object is set to null.
    Why is this? Is there a work-around for this? If there is not I will not be able to make use of the propertybinding feature and I will have to populate and retrieve from components manually.
    I have tested this using different components and setting up binding in multiple ways - through "data binding" and through "property binding" directly to the text field of the component.
    Thanks,

    I have been working with my issue for a little bit and I've learned that binding to an object (or Bean) can be dangerous for the object.
    In SessionBean1 I have instantiated two objects of my bean TransferMethod, tm1 and tm2. tm2 is a "copy" of tm1 in that it contains all the same data, but in separate memory.
    I've bound tm1 to text fields on my jsp page. tm2 is not bound to anything.
    My page has a table, and edit area and several buttons. When I load my page it populates the table with data. I select a row from the table and click my "Edit" button. This instantiates the tm1 and tm2 objects and populates them with data from the row.
    As my text fields are bound to tm1 the text fields are now populated when the page is re-displayed. The name field is bound to the name property and the component is set to readonly. The description field is bound to the description property and has no other configuration.
    When I click my "Save" button and interrogate my tm1 and tm2 objectsm all properties in my tm1 object are reset to default values with the exception of the description field. All properties of the tm2 object are still populated with original data.
    This tells me that binding an object to components is not feasible if you expect to continually work with that object on a single page.
    My work around will be to manually assign the properties of my object to my textfields and vice-versa.
    Hopefully the new version of Creator will address this issue.

  • Err "Couldn't retrieve binding for the given channelId" in receiver SOAP CC

    Hello.
    We have increase the support package level of our XI 3.0 system from level 17 to 23. After this "upgrade" all interfaces using a receiver SOAP channel communication are getting the next error:
    SOAP: response message contains an error XIServer/UNKNOWN/ADAPTER.JAVA_EXCEPTION - com.sap.aii.af.service.cpa.impl.exception.CPALookupException: Couldnt retrieve binding for the given channelId: Binding:CID=8cb6335a548730ea9ca27aaa78034109; at com.sap.aii.af.service.cpa.impl.lookup.AbstractLookupManager.getBindingByChannelId(AbstractLookupManager.java:361) at com.sap.aii.af.mp.soap.web.MessageServlet.doPost(MessageServlet.java:421) at javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service(HttpServlet.java:760) at javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service(HttpServlet.java:853) at com.sap.engine.services.servlets_jsp.server.HttpHandlerImpl.runServlet(HttpHandlerImpl.java:401) at com.sap.engine.services.servlets_jsp.server.HttpHandlerImpl.handleRequest(HttpHandlerImpl.java:266) at com.sap.engine.services.httpserver.server.RequestAnalizer.startServlet(RequestAnalizer.java:386) at com.sap.engine.services.httpserver.server.RequestAnalizer.startServlet(RequestAnalizer.java:364) at com.sap.engine.services.httpserver.server.RequestAnalizer.invokeWebContainer(RequestAnalizer.java:1039) at com.sap.engine.services.httpserver.server.RequestAnalizer.handle(RequestAnalizer.java:265) at com.sap.engine.services.httpserver.server.Client.handle(Client.java:95) at com.sap.engine.services.httpserver.server.Processor.request(Processor.java:175) at com.sap.engine.core.service630.context.cluster.session.ApplicationSessionMessageListener.process(ApplicationSessionMessageListener.java:33) at com.sap.engine.core.cluster.impl6.session.MessageRunner.run(MessageRunner.java:41) at com.sap.engine.core.thread.impl3.ActionObject.run(ActionObject.java:37) at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method) at com.sap.engine.core.thread.impl3.SingleThread.execute(SingleThread.java:102) at com.sap.engine.core.thread.impl3.SingleThread.run(SingleThread.java:172)
    We have done the next steps:
    - Run SXI_CACHE and start a complete cache refresh,
    - http://<Host>:<portNo.>/CPACache/refresh?mode=full
    - Restart J2EE server.
    The problem isn't solved.
    any idea?

    Probably you need to ask your BASIS team if they have done it or not.
    Secondly you can just see if something has been done under SWCV SAP BASIS --- http://sap.com/xi/XI/System --- Adapter Metadata, just by oping any adapter and then by looking at Properties or Hisotry from menu "Adapter Metadata". Here you can see the date under "Changed on", so if this matches with your upgrade date then something has been done. But this check will not help you know about the SP level. So better to ask with BASIS.

  • Open module for managing property file and environment variables

    Looking for an open module for managing property files and environment variables (like CLASSPATH) set in a shell script. For handeling properties (preserving comments, supporting includes, appending new entries, and more) I have looked at SuperProperties from openadaptor but find certain functionality lacking. As for interfacing with common shell scripts/files containing setting for CLASSPATH, JAVA_HOME, other system/application variables another type of object editor is needed. Maybe JFIG?
    Any ideas are greatly welcomed.

    You seem wright, you hit a brick wall here with Air to find the location
    of the command console on windows...
    So in fact I never build an exe tool, but this little problem was a nice
    case to test it and I tried it.:
    I downloaded monodevelop
    -GTK# for .NET 2.12.10*
    -MonoDevelop 2.4.2*
       from http://monodevelop.com/Download
    created a console project and had an exe in 5 minutes !
    You can download the findconsole tool and the projectfiles here:
       http://greencollective.nl/temp/dump/findconsole_monoproject.zip
    findconsole.exe will reveal the path/location of cmd.exe on a windows system.

  • Adjusting Portal Pages throws "Specify a value for the property {0}"

    I found (with the help of our friends at OSS) the setting I need to change with to adjust the Runtime frame size for Guided Procedures.
    It's quite logical really, since GP is just a bunch of pages in the portal it would make sense to find them in the Portal Content option ... So there it was.
    Content Administration > Portal Content
    Search for content and go to Process Instance. The following part shows the 3 main content parts of the GP Runtime window. As you can see in the third container are the two elements that contain your content. "Content Area" and "Public Content Area".
    Open those two areas (scroll down in the list in the middle, select one and press open) and change the value of Height Type from "Fixed" to "Automatic" or "Full Page".
    This is where I get my error (see the link below for a screenshot as well): When I try to change a value, any value or just open for modifying and try saving again (without changing anything) I get this error:
    [http://wow.telenet.be/delaware/property0.jpg]
    Specify a value for the property
    Now I don't know if there any portal expert watching this thread, but it seems as though all those pages have been wrongly configured from the start. And until I figure out the right configuration I won't be able to save them either way.
    My question is two-fold:
    1) Can anyone provide me with all the settings he has for this component so I can compare them to mine?
    2) How do I fix this error? I'm assuming every page in the portal gives the same error?
    Thanks in advance,
    Frederik-Jan

    I have seen a

    and also please tell me how can the MDB recievies this property data ?? MDB onMessage method argument is the Message object and if you look at the documentation, Message interface has getter methods to retrieve the properties.

    How to set persistent binding for QLA2300 (Sun branded ) HBA using qlc driver from Sun?
    Are there any CLI's for it?
    Is it done automatically?
    Is there any way by which we can infer that persistent binding is done?

  • Can't create a JAXB binding for ejb-jar.xml using xjc

    Hi all,
    I have been trying to build a JAXB binding for EJB deployment descriptors, mainly because I have to update a hand-cranked ejb-jar.xml file on the fly with some additions that have come from a code generator.
    I have tried to use
    xjc ejb-jar_2_1.xsd j2ee_1_4.xsd ejb-jar_2_1.xsd
    xjc on the schema definitions I found at http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee/ but I can't get it to work. It produces reams of errors, see below for a short extract.
    Of course, someone could put me out of my misery and tell me where to find a binding that someone else has done. I can't be the first chimp on the planet that has wanted to do this!
    Any help much appreciated.
