XI 3 : J2EE File Adapter Trouble

Hi,
I have implemented a scenario file -> XI -> file.
I use XI 3.0 Stack 09.
I have created my scenario in IR and ID (Communciation channel...) and nothing append.
I go in the adapter monitor and the only thing i can see is the status of the JPR.
I should see the status of the File Adapter No ?
Regards,
Vincent.

Hello,
   We are also having similar type of problems. In our installation the log is at/usr/sap/<INSTANCE>/DVEBMGS00/j2ee/cluster/server0/log/services/com.sap.aii.adapter.file.svc
In the log file, I see
2004:11:11 10:12:12 : File Adapter Administration Intialized
No file adapter configured
Not sure why it says that no adapter is configured even though we have couple File adapters configured with Adapter status active and all the objects have been activated.
I would really appreciate if anyone can point out, if I am missing something that I am supposed do to other than J2EE File adapter service being run and Activating a Fileadapter in the Integration Directory.
Thanks

  • Restart J2EE (File) Adapter

    Hello,
    I configured some J2EE Adapters and sometimes it occures that a adapter is hanging and has to be restarted. My question is: It is possible to restart a J2EE adapter like in the J2SE adapter engine?
    Thanks in advance and best regards,
    Falk

    Hi,
    To "restart" the J2EE adapter, you will need to set the adapter status to "active" (or re-save it), and then activate the Change List for the adapter.

  • Filename for flat file using J2EE FILE FTP Receiver adapter

    Hi there,
    I am struggling to do the following:
    I have a J2EE File receiver that sends a file with a specific name to a FTP destination. I define the target filename in my graphical mapping using certain criteria and a incremental number. In my adapter I use variable substitution to select that value in the payload as the filename. Up to this point everything works fine.
    The problem is that I convert the payload to a flat structure using xslt before writing it out and because of that the adapter cannot find my value as defined in the variable I use for the name.
    Now, obviously if I move the xslt module after the CallAdapter module, the file won't be converted to a flat structure.
    Can anyone give me advice on how I can do the flat conversion <u>and</u> the specific filename from the payload?
    Thanks in advance,
    Johan

    Hi,
    Instead of using variable substitution, use adapter specific identifiers to set the file name in mapping.

  • How to do structure conversion for J2EE File Receiver Adapter

    Hi,
    I am trying to move my adapter configuration from J2SE to J2EE.  My J2SE file inbound adapter has:
    mode=XMB2FILEWITHCONVERSION
    I am unable to find a similar feature with the J2EE File Receiver's Communication Channels configuration.
    Pls advise.
    Thanks.

    Per a similar topic submitted previously (File Adapter in XI 3.0), this feature requires SP Stack 04.

  • Reset of counter in file adapter after restart J2EE

    Hi,
    When the J2EE engine is restarted all counters in the file adapter (Add Counter to filename) are resetted and start at 1 again.
    Is this a bug?
    How to prevent this?
    Even when I put into the file adapter that is has to start counting at 00009 it still starts at 00000. Or if I indicate that it has to start again from 44 it starts counting on 42. .... very strange behaviour.

    See FAQ on File adapter
    question 32
    I think this is not a good solution from SAP.
    Suggestion is that a counter can be used. But it is designed that it will be reset by a restart of the engine.

  • File adapter error after updating to SP19 (INBOUND_BINDING_ERROR)

    File adapter error after updating to SP19 (INBOUND_BINDING_ERROR)
    Hi all,
      im having some troubles after the installation of SP19 (from SP16 in NW04) with File Adapter (File->Idoc scenario).
    In message monitoring (Adapter Engine), I have several messages with status "System Error". The error text is :
    <i>Received XI System Error. ErrorCode: INBOUND_BINDING_ERROR
    ErrorText:   ErrorStack: Error in sender agreement for party '', service 'LEGACY_DEV', interface namespace 'http://XXXXX.com/XXXXXX', interface 'INTERFACE_OB' No sender agreement found for , , , , ,</i>
    Im sure that the Integration Directory settings have not been changed. So I tried the following, but the problem persists:
    - Deactivation/Activation of File Adapter channel
    - check that user XIISUSER is not locked
    - checked SXI_CACHE (it seems ok)
    - Many CPA full refresh
    - Dummy modifications of File Adapter channels (a dummy modification of the description)
    - Reboot J2EE
    I've seen that someone else had problems after upgrading to SP19. I'd really appreciate any suggestion of how to solve my issue.
    Thank you

  • Restricting polling in sender file adapter

    Hi friends,
    I have a requirement where I need to poll a file from an FTP server. But, if the file is being edited (some other application is writing to it) I need to avoid picking that file. Plz tell me how i can achieve this...waiting for ur replies.
    Regards,
      Shilpa

    Shilpa,
    Check out this sap note :
    [https://websmp230.sap-ag.de/sap(bD1kZSZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/sapnotes/index2.htm?numm=821267|https://websmp230.sap-ag.de/sap(bD1kZSZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/sapnotes/index2.htm?numm=821267]
    File Locking / Incomplete Processing
    Q: I sometimes observe that files are processed only partially, i.e., only a fragment from the file's start is converted into an XI message. Nevertheless, the file is usually archived completely. Does the File Sender Adapter honor if another process has locked a file for exclusive use?
    A: Unfortunately, the J2EE 1.3 technology the File Adapter is built upon does not support file locking. This limitation affects the File Adapter's operation. Depending on whether the JRE implementation for the operating system under which the adapter runs uses mandatory file locking or advisory file locking, opening a file that is currently being written to by another process will fail or not.
    If opening the file fails, no problem exists and the adapter will try to open the file each poll interval until it succeeds.
    However, if opening the file is not prevented by the operating system, the adapter starts to process the file although it is still being modified. Since XI 3.0 SP11 / PI 7.0 there is a parameter named "Msecs to Wait Before Modification Check" in the advanced settings of the File Sender channel configuration to work around this issue. This setting causes the File Adapter to wait a certain time after reading, but before sending a file to the Adapter Engine. If the file has been modified (which is basically determined by comparing the size of the read data with the current file size of the input file) after the configured interval has elapsed, the adapter aborts the processing of the file and tries to process the file again after the retry interval has elapsed.
    If this option is not available for the settings you would like to use, the following algorithm (to be implemented in your application) may be used to ensure that the File Adapter only processes completely written files:
    Create the file using an extension, which does not get processed by the File Adapter, e.g., ".tmp"
    Write the file content
    Rename the file to its final name, so the File Adapter will notice its existence and pick it up
    Hope this will help.
    Thanks,
    Nilesh

  • XML validation in sender file adapter

    Hi
    I am using FCC on the sender file adapter ....i need to make sure that one of the fields should always be integer else the sender adapter should give error
    Can i use xml validation with FCC on the sender file adapter?

    Hi Hema,
    As per understanding you need to check one or few fields value is integer or not.
    You can achieve in 2 ways :
    Case1:Using inbuilt xml validation options.
    For 7.11 and below
    1)In ESR/Message type/Export the xsd to local machine.
    2)Insert the xsd file in the below loc
    /usr/sap/<sid>/DVEBMGS00/j2ee/cluster/server0/validation/schema/
    <guid>/<namespace1>/<service_interface_name>/<namespace2>
    <sid>: System ID of the server instance.
    <guid>: The GUID of the SWCV.
    <namespace1> : The namespace within which the service interface is defined.
    <service_interface_name> : The name of the service interface.
    <namespace2>
    : The namespace of the Message Type used by the service interface. In many
    instances, namespace1 and namespace2 are the same.
    Italic path folders need to create by you.
    For 7.3 and above
    Michal's PI tips: XML validation - changes in 7.3
    Case 2 :Handling using simple UDF.
    Input-->UDF-->Output
    try {
       Integer.parseInt(input);
       return input ;
    catch(NumberFormatException e) {
    throw new StreamTransformationException( "Input field value for xyz field "+input+"is not in integer format.Plz correct it");

  • Message File Adapter - XI Integration Server not arriving

    We have configured a file adapter to read a file.  According to the audit log the file is successfully read and converted to XML; however, the message is never posted to XI.  We have checked to make sure that no XI* users are locked and we have bounced the server.

    The problem was the Pipeline URL for the integration server.
    http://<server>:50000/sap/xi/engine/entry?action=execute
    is the defective URL.
    Once we logged into SLD and selected the business system for the integration server we change the pipeline URL to the following
    http://<server>:8000/sap/xi/engine?type=entry
    we then restarted the J2EE server and it worked fine.

  • Need Help-SOA 11g File Adapter unable to delete input file and its crashing

    Hi All
    Please find the details below:
    1. We have created a simple SOA composite to Read file from an input directory, archive the file in an archive directory using Inbound File Adapter Read
    and then use Outbound File Adapter Write to move the file to a output directory.
    2. File Adapter needs to delete the file after successful read/retrieval.
    3. We are using the "Use Trigger File" for invoking the file adapter. This is a new feature in SOA 11g
    4. Also we are using the option of reading the file as an attachment as we are not doing any transformation in the composite
    Issue Details_
    1. When the trigger file is put in the input directory for the first time, the File Adapter reads the file, archives it and moves it to the output directory
    2. However it does not delete the input file from the input directory and raises Fatal Exception mentioned below:

    Delete the file and restart server. Contact oracle support if error is not fixable.
    If any one has faced similar issues, kindly provide pointers on how to resolve it.

    Hi,
    Using the file adapter, you can poll from multilple locations...
    Keep the following property in your .jca file
    <property name="DirectorySeparator" value="," />
    While giving the path in File Adapter configuration, keep comma and give the next location....then the file will be picked up from the locations you gave....
    Hope this helps...
    Thanks,
    N

  • Questions about using FILE adapter to connect to other systems

    Hi,
    in my PI scenario i am facing a problem in usage of the file adapter.
    Our PI system is installed on a UNIX server. The target system for upload an download files is a WINDOWS system. The software installed on the WINDOWS system is only able to export the needed file lokal on the WINDOWS server.
    Between UNIX systems i can connect a together used fileshare folder. But this won´t help me in my UNIX <> WINDOWS scenario.
    I thougt on using an FTP server on the WIDNOWS system to make the PI able to connect via the FTP adapter but this works fine for one or two systems. I don´t think that this ist the best solution when connection to a lot WINDOWS systems, but mayby i am wrong.
    Actually i use UC4 to copy the files between the two systems.
    Any ideas how to deal generally with such scenarios?
    Many thanks
    Michael

    Even though if you map Unix and Windows OS to read the files, in the long run the design will put you in trouble. Means it requires constant support. Better you go with unix script as per the above suggestion.

  • How to connect to a FTP server using a proxy in a DMZ with XI file adapter?

    Hello,
    Want to connect to an ftp server using a proxy in the DMZ. I don't see any standard options in the XI file adapter to use a standard. Is there a workaround?
    I already looked at https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/wiki?path=/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=57137
    But it didn't help me.
    Regards,
    Erik van Lisdonk

    U can't use FTP over SSH i.e., SFTP. But u may use FTPS by enabling the SSL layer on J2EE of XI. See this
    SFTP vs. FTPS in SAP PI

  • Error in using file adapter valves

    Hi,
    I'm working on Oracle SOA Suite 11g (11.1.1.4). I'm doing an exercise on using adapter valves for encryption. I need to write an encrypted file using File adapter. I created pipeline.xml and also specified property in jca file. And added bpm-infra.jar file to classpath.
    Also, I've compiled SimpleEncryptValve.java and created a jar file and placed it in lib directory of domain.
    Pipeline.xml is as below :
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <pipeline xmlns="https://www.oracle.com/adapter/pipeline">
    <valves>
    <valve>valves.SimpleEncryptValve</valve>
    </valves>
    </pipeline>
    writeFile_file.jca contents are as below :
    <adapter-config name="writeFile" adapter="File Adapter" wsdlLocation="writeFile.wsdl" xmlns="http://platform.integration.oracle/blocks/adapter/fw/metadata">
    <connection-factory location="eis/FileAdapter"/>
    <endpoint-interaction portType="Write_ptt" operation="Write">
    <interaction-spec className="oracle.tip.adapter.file.outbound.FileInteractionSpec">
    <property name="PhysicalDirectory" value="D:\PoC\FileAdapters"/>
    <property name="Append" value="false"/>
    <property name="FileNamingConvention" value="new_%SEQ%.txt"/>
    <property name="NumberMessages" value="1"/>
    <property name="PipelineFile" value="pipeline.xml"/>
    </interaction-spec>
    </endpoint-interaction>
    </adapter-config>
    Got below error while testing. What could be wrong in valve configuration ?

  • Problem with FIle Adapter

    Hi
    We r facing typical problem with file adapter.
    Lets say there are 30 files to be processed  by placing an copy in arichive folder by file adapter  based on pooling
    parameters.
    All the 30  files are picked up and we can see the copies in archive folder.
    But when we go to RWB and check the audit log,
    there we could see only 25 files , the 5 files are missing.
    no trace found therre about the 5 files.
    This is happening only some times and not to all the files placed in the FTP. Later when the same file is placed back from the Archive folder to the Source folder, the file is being picked and processed succesfully.
    unfortunately this is happening on Production server
    Any pointers which could trouble shoot this issue.

    Hi,
    Couple of thing which you can try....
    1. Use EOIO QoS and check if you still face the issue.
    Is some program or application writing files to the directory? If yes I would recommend the use of a temporary name to write the files and then rename them.
    Sometimes when an external application connects via FTP and transfers the files...
    The file could be picked up by the adapter poll even before the transfer of data is done.
    Which is why you will find that the file is archived but there is no xml message created for the same in the Integration engine.
    Try increasing the poll interval. This helps sometimes.

    Sidharth
