XI as a tool for migration

Hi Friends,
Can we use XI as a migration tool? If i want to move all data of my non-sap system to sap system, can i go for xi?
If we can use XI, what are all the challengs i'll have and the areas i need to focus more while designing the implementaion?
Your views on this greatly appreciated.
Thanks & Regards,
Senthil.

Hi,
>>Is it going to deal with high volume of data or something else?
yes +
many programs for data import are already developed in ABAP
(reports) so it would require to change them to FM (pretty time consuming)
with LSMW you can see the errors directly and with XI you'd have to log on to SAP
lookups with LSMW you can use ABAP to lookup every table with XI - API lookup for migration ? too high volume I'd say
LSMW offers almost the same mapping functions as XI
(and if you use excel for migrations it's even better)
so I'd not use XI for sure for migrations

  • Tools for migrating data (documents) from MS SQL to Oracle

    Hi,
Please let me know if there any tools available for migrating documents from one database like MS SQL to Oracle. Currently our documents are stored in MS SQL and we are planning to implement KM for document management with Oracle as the database.

The old manual style still works - create the scripts for the migration objects, then use search & replace to rename the schema for all affected objects and finally run the SQL script to create them in the Oracle database.

    Hi JP,
The migration tool is provided only to persons certified.
In US and also in EMEA is already a certification program.
I think it was already done a first workshop regarding the Migration tool in US having at the end an exam for certification.
In EMEA the first workshop will be done next week between 11-13 May.

This is a very specialized area you are looking at. My recommendation is that you look at SAP sites on Oracle.com for assistance. There is also a SAP Migration white paper you can read and the Oracle/SAP site.

The documentation can be found under:

  • Do we have any tool to migrate SharePoint 2010 to 2013?

    Hi,
Why Microsoft didn't provided the User friendly tool to migrate the solution from SP 2010 farm to SP 2013 farm? In order to take the backup and restore the database, run some powershell commands and validating the process , instead they can provide
some user friendly tool to support the migration process. If they can provide SharePoint Designer / Infopath for customization /branding, why they're not providing the tool for migration instead of using 3rd party tool.
Balaji -Please click mark as answer if my reply solves your problem.

    Hi Balaji,
As Alex mentioned, "upgrading SharePoint is potentially quite complicated". I've heard some nightmare scenarios coming from users who tried the detach-attach solution provided by Microsoft* but others also been able to get the desired result with a few manual
tweaks. However I couldn't say exactly why Microsoft isn't providing his SharePoint end-users with a more friendly approach, I guess Alex and John gave you a good idea about Microsoft motivations for not going forward.
The upgrade is for sure rather complicated. However from what I could understand so far you were looking for a simple solution and I'm guessing you'll find a great alternative with third party tools.
In fact when comparing the attach-detach method with third party tools you'll quickly notice that third party tool will allow you to simply go directly from for instance SP2007 to O365 without having to previously move everything to SP2010. In sum they are
huge time savers. Also, the detach/attach method has limitations such as broken links and workflows, two things must third party tools will take care of.
As I'm working for Sharegate and using it on a daily basis, I admit my judgement is biased ;-) However, from an end user point of view simplicity is certainly one of Sharegate's great assets. Most third-parties also offer trial versions that allow you to compare
and see how they work. I invite you to see for yourself which tool suits you best. Here is a place to start your journey: http://en.share-gate.com/download
    Cheers!

When you hit this number of AP's you probably want to look into the WLC (Wireless Lan Controller) This appliance is perfect for managing AP's pushing new configs etc.

  • Migration Verifier Tool for SQL Developer Migrations?

    Hi all,
The old Migration Workbench has an optional add on verification tool to verify migrations to Oracle.
I am looking for a similar migration verifier tool for the SQL Developer migration process.
Does one currently exist for SQL Developer migration tools?
    Regards,
    Ben Prusinski

    Hi Ben,
The old migration verifier seems to be at:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/migration//dmv/index.html
Sue Harper (Product Manager) would be the person to comment further probably through SQLDeveloper statement of direction:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/sql_developer/files/sqldeveloperstatementofdirection.htm
I do not see anything there.
There is a tools->database diff wizard which I have not looked into in detail and I doubt that applies for migrations.
