Hi Anand,
>>>Also whta type of RFC destination do I need to mainatin (R/3, TCP/IP...)
if you're talking about "Monitoring Multiple Systems"
then the RFC has to be "type R/3" :

  • How to make ECC as central alert server, and XI as child alert server?

    Hi All
I have a requirement where, i need to raise alerts in XI message processing, and also during message processing in application system (ECC system).
Now, how can i make ECC as central alert serer & XI as child alert server?
    We are not using CCMS.
    Thanks
    Chandra

u can use the alert abap function module to raise an alert which occurs in ECC system.
but i m not sure how u will catch the errro and pass the error message to the alert FM for raising an alert.
We have done some validation in Function module based on inputs and triggered an alert using the function module.
just look at the link for the same.

  • No alerts from AAE after configured Solman as central Alert Server

    Hi all,
i have configured a Solution Manager system to act as a central alert servcer for our PI landscape. We are using PI 7.1 ehp 1.
I changed the required nodes in the exchange profile and created the PIRWBUSER in the solution manager system. After restarting the J2EE engine of the PI system the alert rules are no created on solutiuon manager and alerts which occur in the integration engine are raised in the solution manager system. However alerts which are raised in the AAE are not forwarded.
When i check the application log in NWA I see the follwing error, whenever an alert should have been raised:
No central monitor defined in RWB.
    Thrown:
com.sap.aii.rwb.exceptions.JaycoRequestFailedException: Neither messager server nor application server are defined for system SMB

    at com.sap.aii.rwb.core.R3System.getITSUrl(R3System.java:1558)
In ABAP the connection CentralMonitoringServer-XIAlerts is configured correctly as alerts from the IE engine are working. I suppose I missed some configuration in the java stack. Can somebody help me on that?
    Best regards and thx

  • Issue in triggering central alert server- (Unable to subscribe the alert which was configured in the system)

    Hello Team,
I'm facing an issue with the alert.
Created alert classification and alert category in the transaction "ALRTCATDEF".
Created container for alert category and maintained the short and long text for alert.
Assigned the particular role "SAP_BC_ALM_ALERT_USER" in the authorization subscription and the same role has been added to user in SU01 transaction.
    Setting up Action:
In processing method the alert category has been assigned as initial value.
I have made all the configuration to subscribe the alert.
    Issue:
In WEB UI under the servicepro business role, The navigation bar "Work list" there is an option to "personalize alert". Once we click on that then we will be able to subscribe the alerts. But in my case the alert category is not appearing in the subscription list. It is completely empty.
System should show the configured alert category to subscribe. But now it is completely empty row.
Thank in advance for your help!!!!

    Hi Ravi,
Thanks for the suggestion. Actually the server and domain all are running well. I can start and stop from the startup menus and command scripts.
The only issue is in the Eclipse (OEPE) when I try to connect the server. However I found the solution that I need comment the localhost entry in hosts file as below.
    # 127.0.0.1 localhost
Now the server is connecting well. However I have another issue, that I am not able to shutdown the server from startup menus. I suspect the t3 protocal and HTTP protocal related. If you have any suggestions please help me.
Note: if still have issues then try by removing the LAN connection, or install the Microsoft Loopback Adapter.
But I am still looking for options without commenting the localhost in the hosts entry.

  • How can I set-up my mac mini server to be a central file server for my windows boxes (they don't see the mac on the network), and how do I set-up a central iTunes server so that all my devices sync to the mac mini?

I am looking for step by step instructions to configure my mac mini server to support the following:
    1. Central itunes server for all my devices (ipad, ipod, iphone, etc.)
    2. Central file server so that my windows devices can save and retrieve data from the central system (the mac does not show up in the network for the windows systems - all running windows XP or 7)
    Thanks,
    Keith

You will need to enable file sharing in System Preferences
as well as setting up sharing and permissions for the
directories that you want shared.  You may also want to
setup a non-administrative user or allow limited guest
access.  The user would require entering a user name and
password to make the connection, but would allow remotes
to change files, if set up tat way.
As for serving iTunes media, better to post in the iTunes forum.

  • How can i access the information of my central app server and my AS

Hello i'm trying of configure my sld but when i'm about to create a technical system the wizard ask me for a central app server and App server (host and instance). where in my sap system can i found that information???. Sorry if the question is kind of obvious...i'm a beginner. Thanx in advance

    Hi
SLD is for creating /Maintaining (including software product,components,etc..) system entries.
    e.g.
If you want to create enrty for SAP R/3, Go to sld http://<hostname>://<port>/sld  >> technical system >> select type as WebAS ABAP >> enter the ipaddress of the SAP R/3 server
You can get the details from your basis consultant or NW admin

  • There was an error while retrieving the universes from the CMS (Central Management Server). (PS 20003)

    Hi there,
When I'm trying to manage spaces in SAP Business Objects Explorer 4.1 SP04, I'm getting the following error:
Failed to retrieve the data source list.
There was an error while retrieving the universes from the CMS (Central Management Server). (PS 20003)
    For input string: "false"
I've already restart Explorer servers (Explorer Exploration Server, Explorer Indexing Server, Explorer Master Server and Explorer Search Server) and rebooted the server where Explorer is installed.
Nothing seems to fix this error message. I'm not able to create new spaces because I cant access the sources:
    I'd appreciate some help !
    Thanks in advance

    HI Pavan,
Admin is on the Administrators Group, which as Full Control on the Explorer Application
I think this worked on the day the Explorer was installed (past week).
    Since them never worked.

  • Setting up permissions on a central file server...

I am setting up a central file server in a small network enviornment where the users will share a drive and jobs on the drive. Problem I am having is if I set up seperate users and one group that they all belong to, when someone creates a job in there home directory and then copies it to the server, the rest of the users access it as read only. I need them to be able to read and write to each others folders. Any solution other than creating one user that they all share (since that kind of defeates the perpose).
    Thanks in advance,
    Larry

The solution to your problem depends on whether you want to use ACLs or not.
If you are managing a server, you should crack open the manuals- the answer to your question lies within those pages. To point you in the right direction.....
If ACLs are NOT enabled for the volume. When you click the Share Point in WorkGroup Manager, then click the Protocols tab, you will see a check box for "Inherit Permissions from Parent". This is what you want.
If this option is greyed, then you DO have ACLs enabled for the volume.
The explanations for this are not short and managing a server requires reading, research and frustration.
ACLs work more reliably than the Posix 'inherit' permissions option does.
    That said....
A user of this forum put together an excellent guide to ACLs. Here's the link:

  • XI 3.0 Installation Problem: no central managment server running

Hi, I am totally new to BO our company just purchased the application and I have installed XI 3.0 on one of our server. I have setup the DB and the installation finished successfully. However I can't find CMS anywhere on the server. It seems like all the other XI 3.0 components are there Business view manager, central configuration manager, etc. they are all in the program list.
The only thing I didn't install is Tomcat. In Central configuration Manager ther Server Intelligence Agent is running. When I try to connect to the server in Business view Manager I receive the following error "The system servername cannot be contacted, but there is no Central Managment Server running at port 6400."
During the installation for "Web Application Server" part I checked the "other" option since I want to use IIS. I have a feeling I need to do some type of post configuration for IIS? Where do I perform this?
    Our setup is:
Window Server 2003 SP2 with all the latest window updates
The latest XI 3.0 (I downloaded it from the product page)
    My questions are:
    1. Does XI work with IIS at  all?
    2. Do I need to install Tomcat and run some kind of connector to have IIS work?
    3. What am I missing for my XI 3.0 it seem the core component is missing (CS)?
Edited by: Amy Williams on Sep 24, 2008 11:18 AM
Moved from Xcelsius forum to BOE Administration

    Hi Allan,
In answer to your questions - XI 3.0 does not have an IIS interface right now.  You will need to install a java application components in order to access the end user interface for viewing reports (InfoView), the report viewers, the web services and SDKs and the management console (CMC).  The easiest way to do this is to choose the default Tomcat components in the installation and work from there.
If you left everything else as default, then you will have all the necessary application components installed to get the system up and running.  It may just be that your CMS has not started for some reason.  Try stopping and restarting the Server Intelligence Agent (SIA) in the Central Config Manager (CCM) - found in the Start/Programs/Business Objects group.
Once started, try clicking on the "Manage Servers" icon of the CCM (the one with a server and a check mark on it).  This should allow you connect to the system and see which servers have started.  IF you cannot connect, the next step would be to check the windows Event Log.  See if the CMS service started OK.  If it didn't the log should provide you with more information, which you can post here for further assistance.
If it did, and you still cannot connect, you may need to review your network firewall settings and/or your DEP status (see the properties panel for My Computer, choose the Advanced tab, select the Performance settings button, then the Data Execution Prevention tab).
    Happy hunting.
    Derek.

  • How to use central output server in JSP application

    Dear All,
We have developed a jsp application which is running on JBoss. We want to create receipts in PDF format. For this we are using central output server. Our approach is as follows:
When request comes from the user, we are generating .dat file by fetching data from the Oracle database depending upon credentials and then pushing this file into data folder of Central output server. From there we are waiting for PDF file in predefined path. Here we found this is asynchronous way of producing receipts.
Is there any other way that is synchronous or the way we are approaching is the only way of doing it.A sample would be of immense help.
Note:The concurrent hits would be around 5000 in a peak hour.Any help would be highly appreciated.

I don't think you can get things to operate in a synchronous manner. You have one application - perhaps running on a totally separate server - feeding data files to a different application. The only way to make it even semi-sychronous would be to throttle the JSP application in some way to prevent it from placing a new file into Central's data folder while there was already one there.
I assume your problem is knowing which PDF belongs to which user. If that is the case you could send some type of unique identfier (IP#?) as a "job" parameter that would then be used as the specific PDF file name instead of letting Central create a random file name.

  • Alert Category of ES not deployed on Alerting Server

    Hello,
I just set up an Alert Category in Enterprise Services Builder to used in BPM. I have read that the category will be automatically deployed on the Alerting Server and can be viewed using ALRTCATDEF.
However there is nothing to be seen after activation. Furthermore, how do I set recipients for alert categories set in Enterprise Services Builder?

I found the alert now, however it just contains the GUID of the object but not the name (as alert category). Is this meant to be like this?

  • Issue With Business Objects Installation-STW00213 The Central Management Server has failed to start.

    Hi,
I am in the process of installing Business Objects XI 3.1 in one of our server. While installing I am getting the error 'The Central Management Server has failed to start. Press 'retry' to attempt to start it again or 'cancel' to skip any actions dependendent on the Central Management Server. STW00213.'
I have tried re-installing the BO, and also tried installing without giving admin password. But it doesn't work. And also I ahve tried giving the passwords of database and CMS Admin without Sepcia Characters. But it also doesn't work.
If I cancel and install the BO, Server Intelligence Agent is not available in Central Management Server.
Could anyone help on this issue?
    Thanks
    Prakadesh

    Hi Prakadesh,
    Try these steps.
    1. Stop and disable the service of current SIA. You can do it from start-->run services.msc. Double click the SIA service and change the status to disable.
    2. Login into sqlplus and drop all the CMS tables.
    3. Create a new SIA pointing to Oracle from the CCM.
    4. Start the new SIA and check if all services come up and you are able to login into Manager servers.
If this does not work, check the event viewer for error messages.
