XI exception in RFC adapter

Hi,
I have CRM (RFC) -> XI -> Third Party (HTTP call) scenario. Its a synchronous call in which the third party send a response back. My question is as below -
Suppose call gets triggered from CRM successfully and it reaches the third party. The third party sends back a success response to XI. In XI the message fails in the mapping (or any other error). Generally I will catch the exception in RFC and i will know that the call failed in XI.
But is there a way to know in CRM that the call has actually failed on the response leg and the request leg was successful? This is important to know because in this case the third party system has actually processed the message and the message should not be retriggered.
The exception I get from RFC is same for both request and response failures in XI but I want to differenciate it in CRM.
I know we can do it  using BPM. But i wanted to know is there other way of achieving this? I can define the Fault messages but they really are for the expections raised by third party. Here its not an exception from third party. The exception is from XI response leg of the sync message.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Rahul.

Hi,
Thanks for your response.
Its not an mapping error. If it was, we would have fixed it as suggested by you
Its failing with error - HTTPIO_PLG_CANCELED. And this is not a persistent error as far as I could figure out. (After few messages failed with this error, suddenly the interface started to work again). We are trying to get a permanent fix for that.
But in any case, issues like these might come for various reasons. Hence I want to ensure that the source system (CRM) is notified of the 'real' error (stating that the message has actually reached the third party). We already have alerts for the failure notifications. But what we want to know in CRM is that the call has been processed in 3rd party system and it should not be retriggered from CRM.
We can build 'manual procedures' around it so that first we check in XI and third party before re-triggering the call but wanted to know if we can get that message back to CRM.
Is it possible to get such response if we use Proxies instead of RFCs?
Thanks again.

Rahul

  • RFC to XML-RFC Parsing issue in RFC Adapter as Sender

    Hi all,
    I tried to use RFC adapter as a sender. The scenario I am trying to achieve is R3 -> RFC Adapter Sender --> BPM --> RFC Adapter Receiver --> SAP Auto-ID system.
    The reason to use two RFC adapter and BPM is to log the request message if the RFC call fails. Everything works as expected, except the RFC Adapter Sender.
    The RFC I am calling has an input table. The input data I use works fine if I call it via SE37 or remotely from another SAP system. However, if I call it via RFC adapter, when XI parses the data into RFC-XML format, the input data is all messed up.
    DATA: BEGIN OF ID_STR,

    The calling system is a 4.6C non-unicode system, and the destination system is a unicode system (this does not matter since the first part of the integration is between R3 and XI). There is no config found on R3 side to specify non-unicode because it is a rather old system. In XI RFC Adapter config, I checked non-unicode checkbox (I also tested it with this unchecked, but still the same issue).
    Have any of you seen this problem and how you resolve it?
    Thanks a lot for your help!

    Hart

    Hi Hart
    long time no seen - hope you remember me
    >The reason to use two RFC adapter and BPM is to log the request message if the RFC call fails
    there is an easy way (guess max 3-4 hours) to solve all of your issues
    and get rid of a BPM
    use IDOC - XI - ABAP Proxy
    then you will have IDOC and ABAP Proxy that always log the message on both ends (and you can restart ABAP proxies easily in AII - and every AII supports ABAP proxies) + you get rid of a BPM as it's not necessary as far as I understand (as it's asyn communication right?)
    maybe you can go this way and IDOCs always work...
    good luck,

  • RFC Adapter - JCO Exception - Please Urgent

    I am developing a scenario from File--RFC integration.  I am using File and RFC adapter to perform this transaction.
    The File Adapter is picking the file properly and the trnaformation (Mapping Program) is also happening properly.  But the RFC is throwing the following error.  I got this error info from the Runtime Workbench.
    Exception caught by adapter framework: error while processing message to remote system:com.sap.aii.af.rfc.core.client.RfcClientException: JCO.Exception while calling ZPS_XI_ACTIVITY_CREATE in remote system (RfcClient[BAPI_CreateActivity_Receiver]):com.sap.mw.jco.JCO$Exception: (104) RFC_ERROR
    Error Delivery of the message to the application using connection AFW failed, due to: error while processing message to remote system:com.sap.aii.af.rfc.core.client.RfcClientException: JCO.Exception while calling ZPS_XI_ACTIVITY_CREATE in remote system (RfcClient[BAPI_CreateActivity_Receiver]):com.sap.mw.jco.JCO$Exception: (104) RFC_ERROR.
    The RFC is executing without any problem when I execute this from the transaction SE37.
    I have created communication channel in Integration Directory in appropriate manner.
    I also created RFC destination in the XI system (TCODE SM59) and the same is using in the "Receiver Determiiation - Service".
    I have not done any configuration at SAP R/3 side.  Is any config required at R/3 end for this scenario - please let me know.
    Please throw some light on this.  I will greatly appreciate your help.

    Friends,
      Please suggest on this vague problem that I am facing.  Your help would be greatly appreciated.
    1. I am using SAP-PS (Projects & Systems) BAPI 'BAPI_BUS2002_ACT_CREATE_MULTI' to create the activities for a project.  According to this BAPI documentation,
    - First call 'BAPI_PS_INITIALIZATION' before make this BAPI call
    - After BAPI call, we should use 'BAPI_PS_PRECOMMIT' and 'BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT'.
    2. Hence, I have developed Z-Func Module with Initialize, BAPI call - then Pre Commit and Commit.
    3. This is executing from SE37 without any issues.  Other parameters to make a remote call is also set properly.
    4. To make sure that, I made a JCO call from Java Program using PDK for Java.  This is also working fine.
    5. But when I used this in the XI scenario (File-XI-RFC) this is showing ABAP dump and this is invoking from Pre-Commit module.
    I couldn't figure it out why it's happening like this.
    I did lot of troubleshooting and the details are as follows for your reference.
    1. The mapping program is working fine without any issues.  I confirmed this by writing these input values to the file (ofcourse lot of pain) inside the function module.  All the values have been parsed by XI and coming to Func Module as expected.
    2. No issues with logical destinations (SM59).
    3. I have tried other options such as clearing the Cache...etc.
    Hence, please throw up some light.  If any body tried with these kind of BAPI (needs initialize, pre-commit and commit) I really appreciate your effort.
    <b>Can we enable the debugging of func module when the XI makes a call...?</b>  - I tried with Standard options that seems doesn't work.

  • RFC -File Sync Async bridge RFC Adapter Exception

    Hi
    I am using sync async bridge to send a response back to rfc.
    Although there is no error in sxmb_moni as well as the auditlog shows that the response was sent successfully to rfc.. still the RFC adapter gives the following error with no response sent to RFC..
    Error in processing caused by: com.sap.aii.af.rfc.RfcAdapterException: failed to identify XML document:java.lang.Exception: javax.xml.parsers.FactoryConfigurationError: Provider com.sap.engine.lib.jaxp.SAXParserFactoryImpl not found
    please help

    Solved the problem..
    The problem could be due to the following..
    1. the response structure was just a single character..while i was sending a whole string..
    2. I restarted the server...probably the problem
    javax.xml.parsers.FactoryConfigurationError: Provider com.sap.engine.lib.jaxp.SAXParserFactoryImpl not found
    system property must have set mismatch for the SAXFactoryImpl.... by deploying modules before in which i was using SAX parser.. may be the i set the system property earlier to other provider dont remember...
    Hope this information will be useful to someone in future using Sync/Async bridge

  • Receiver RFC adapter issue! Please help!

    Hi Experts,
       I have 4 XI interfaces. All of these are Webservice to RFC scenarios. Moreover all of them are synchronous.
      Request message: Webservice (SOAP Adapter) ---> XI -
    > RFc Adapter ---> ECC Function modules
      Response message: Webservice (SOAP Adapter) <- XI < RFc Adapter <- ECC Function modules
    As you can see above, external system calls XI web service via SOAP Adapter. The input data is then sent from SOAP Adapter to RFC adapter to call RFC function module in the receiving side.  The receiving system is SAP ECC system.
    The receiver ECC system has two instances. For example SP0 ad SP1.
    In the receiver determination step we have maintained a rule such that if the Plant value in the input message is XYZ then send data to SP0. But if the plant value in ABC then send data to SP1.
    This Conditional rule is working fine.
    However we are getting couple of issues with only one instance of ECC (SP0).

    3. com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.exception.MessagingException: No response available
    The above listed errors are generated occasionally. Sometimes no errors are generated even when the same input data is sent again and message is successfully processed.
    I have verified the input data and everything is OK with that.
    Mapping object is available in XI and cache was also refreshed. I additionally reactivated the objects in XI as well.
    So what could be the real root cause of this? Please help!
    Thanks

  • RFC adapter in XI 3.0 not working properly with BAPI in R/3 4.6C

    Here is the scenario.
    An XML file is received from our customer. This file contains purchase order information that is used to create a sales order in our SAP 4.6C system. Once the sales order is created an acknowledgement is generated and this is returned back to our customer in an XML format.  This scenario is working perfectly fine in our XI 2.0 system but is not working properly in our XI 3.0 test environment. Our custom function module in R/3 is a wrapper function that uses a standard SAP BAPI to create the sales order. Part of the function module does use the statement
    call function 'BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT'
    The last thing the BAPI does is call another function module that using an RFC destination that will return and order acknowledgement.
    Here is what happens within XI and our SAP system.
    The XML file is received and mapped to our imported RFC. The RFC adapter is called and the information is passed onto SAP where our customer function module executed. The sales order is created within SAP without any problems and the second function module is called which references an RFC destination assigned to our XI 3.0 system. The information is sent back to XI and an appropriate file is created for our customer.  All seems to be working properly except that when the original RFC is sent from XI to SAP,  SAP creates a short dump stating
    "call to messaging system failed: com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.DeliveryException:" Then it is put back into the que where 5 minutes later it executes again and trys to recreate the sales order in SAP. (again, this same function module executing from XI 2.0 works fine)
    I believe I have everything configured properly because the SAP side is being executed and I am successfully passing information back from SAP to XI. However the original function module in SAP is failing with the above error message. It appears that the original function module cannot communicate back with XI. I have had SAP looking at this issue and they have not been successful yet in solving this problem.
    Any ideas.
    Thanks,
    Jim d'Hulst

    Hi,
    I think the problem is with the send back of acknowledgement to XI. Does the DeliveryException state something about the sender agreement? I guess you are using a statement like below:
    CALL FUNCTION 'ZABCD'
    destination <tcp/ip destination>
    exporting
    input = ack.
    In that case, check whether the TCP/IP destination is working fine. Also, to be able to exchange message, the structure of the Function Module ZABCD needs to be identified as the sender in XI Configuration (Integration Directory).
    Also, check your config with the blog mentioned below:
    <a href="/people/arpit.seth/blog/2005/06/27/rfc-scenario-using-bpm--starter-kit">/people/arpit.seth/blog/2005/06/27/rfc-scenario-using-bpm--starter-kit</a>

    HI Anulraja,
    Your Adapter Engine searches the pipeline url of the integration engine from the SLD.
    Check the Bussiness System in Sld , which you'll have defined for XI Server.
    It should have ROLE : Integration Server And
    pipeline url: http://ux0800:55300/sap/xi/engine?type=entry
    should be this if your http port is 55300.
    Check if this url is right in SLD-Bussiness System.
    You can check the exact http port in transaction sxmb_adm.
    Go to Integration engine configuration and then click on check icon(F7).
    It should match with that provided in the BS in SLD.
    By default it should be 8000.
    Check all these things and then try.

  • RFC Adapter not getting data

    Hi experts!
    I am developing a RFC to File scenario on PI 7.1 EHP1 and ECC 6.0 which is synchronous. Following the Help page Setting Up an RFC Destination for the RFC Adapter I created two destinations. The fist one is a TCP/IP, name RFCDE1COMPANY2, program id BAPI_COMPANY_GETLIST and corresponding gateway host and service I found at SMGW (Parameters). The second one is a Logical with name RFCDE1and reference entry RFCDE1COMPANY2.
    At my RFC Sender Adapter I configured the same gateway info and the same program id. After that I tested both destinations and it worked. I created the following report to call the bapi on that destinations::
    REPORT  ZREP_BAPI_COMPANY_GETLIST.
    DATA: company_list TYPE STANDARD TABLE OF BAPI0014_1.
    CALL FUNCTION 'BAPI_COMPANY_GETLIST'
      IN BACKGROUND TASK
      DESTINATION 'RFCDE1'
      TABLES
         COMPANY_LIST = company_list.
    COMMIT WORK.
    At SXMB_MONI the request message was processed and the output file generated, but it has only the root tag. At moni the inbound message has no data (company data).
    I tested the BAPI_COMPANY_GETLIST at SE37 and there are 149 entries. When I executed this same BAPI with RFC target sys configured to my destination, it didn´t show any data and has an exception called SYSTEM_FAILURE. I think probably the error is on RFC destinations but I can´t figure it out what is wrong.
    Best Regards,
    Gabriela

    At the TCP/IP Destination there is a button "Unicode Test", according to this test my target system is unicode (character size 2). I changed the option at MDPM&Unicode on that TCP/IP Destination like Madhusudana described. I also selected the checkbutton "Unicode" on sender RFC communication channel.
    About the sync/async, I will not use sync async bridge because this scenario can be async. One think that I realized is that when I call my report, I am implicitly calling PI asynchronously and when I call the BAPI directly by the test tool, I am implicitly calling PI synchronously. That is why most part of my tests did not work before.
    Now I can see on SXMB_MONI that the scenario worked and the file was generated. But the data are still not being showed on inbound payload. I think something is wrong with my destinations but I can´t figure it out what is.
    Ps.: I would prefer to use XI proxies, but this scenario will be configured (not now) on a XI 3.0 with ERP 4.6 C. Now I´m just learning how to handle with RFC Adapter.
    Any ideia?
    (Points granted)
    Thank you and best regards,
    Gabriela

  • RFC Adapter - Sender

    We are unable to configure a RFC Adapter as a Sender one. We are using Netweaver '04 ramp up CD's. The Sender Radio button is always disabled.
    Any ideas why this is happening?
    Thanks,

    XI3.0; Any solution to this problem??? I have the same...
    And at the other side (RFC-Receiver-CommunicationChannel) I get an exception "com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.DeliveryException: RfcAdapter: receiver channel not in list of running clientPools";
    Probably the problems have the same reason, some missing configuration or installation? Any ideas?

  • Sender RFC adapter Error- request was null while trying to extract it.

    Hi All,
    I  have a scenario running in Production(PI 7.0 system) where SAP ECC sends RFC request through sender RFC adapter. The scenario was working fine but now I am getting the below error in default trace and I couldn't see any error in communication channel monitoring.
    java.lang.Exception: RfcServer[BAS_ECC_RFC_Snd]1[AFSenderD] request was <null> while trying to extract it.
    I have gone through the below thread and performed a full cache refresh but it didn't help :
    [NULL]
    I have gone through SAP note:730870 and I couldn't get any help on this error. Can you please suggest your ideas to solve this issue.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Laawanya

    Hi Lawanya,
    Check you RFC and input data , whether the RFC call is able to get the data from ECC or not.
    you can test the same RFC in ECC with input data and you can check whether the RFC in ECC is return the value or not.
    I gues in your case the RFC in ECC is not return any data  to PI.

  • Soap Sender and RFC Adapter receiver getting APPLICATION_ERROR

    Hi, all,
    I have a webservice soap sender and RFC Adapter receiver scenario, it works fine with RFC "RFC_SYSTEM_INFO", When i tried the RFC "RFC_READ_TABLE", getting the following error message,  <SAP:Code area="RFC_ADAPTER">APPLICATION_ERROR</SAP:Code> in
    SXI_MONITOR, in webservice client, i am getting error message like this:
    <faultcode>SOAP:Server</faultcode>
             <faultstring>Server Error</faultstring>
             <detail>
                <rfc:ZZTEST_RFC_READ_TABLE.Exception xmlns:rfc="urn:sap-com:document:sap:rfc:functions">
                   <Name>TABLE_NOT_AVAILABLE</Name>
                   <Text>QUERY_TABLE not active in Dictionary</Text>
                </rfc:ZZTEST_RFC_READ_TABLE.Exception>
    Thanks a lot!

    Hi
    Its not compulsory but its good to wrap it as Z object.
    Well if you are facing problem with SOAP data. Then try to do one thing. Check with the data you received from SOAP message. If this works
    Then try to check in mapping is it passing the data correctly or not. With this check with the user authorization PIAPPLUSER. if its having less authorizations to execute this BAPI in ECC
    Thanks

    Hi
    My scenario is based file -->RFC with BPM (parforEach) and multimapping.
    File adapter is picking data according to input file, but RFC couldn't able to process each split data. I am gettign following error.
    <b>2006-09-11 10:39:07 Error Exception caught by adapter framework: error while processing message to remote system:com.sap.aii.af.rfc.core.client.RfcClientException: functiontemplate from repository was <null>

    Any idea how to resolve this issue..!

    Sankar!

    Hi..
    Does this way i mapped file to BAPI, is this correct way ?
    does we change the BAPi structure like this in target side?
    Source Structure:  TargetStructure
    Messages (1:1)    Message(1:1)
    Message1(1:1)      Message1(1:1)
    MT_Request(1:1)
    Recordset(0:U) --> BAPI_INCOMINGINVOICE(0:U)
    HDR (0:1)           HeaderData(1:1)
      LINEITEM(0:U)
       field1(0:1) --->     filed1(0:1)
                           field2(0:2)
                HDR--->GLACCOUNTDATA(0:1)
      LINEITEM(0:U)---> item(0:U)
    field3(0:1) --->         field(0:1)
    field4(0:1) --->         field2(0:1)
    and my BPM is :
    Receive>Transfromation->Block with asyncSEND--->
    Receiver      : File_MI
    Trasformation: IM, sorec: File_AI and tar: BApi_AI
    Block -->parForeach, multi: BAPI_AI, curr: BAPI_AI
    asyncSend-->BAPi_AI
    <b>Note: My input file should have various headers with associated line items...!</b>
    Thanks,
    Sankar!
