XI R3 Grouping Data Values

In BO v5 desktop client it was possible to create variables that grouped data values. E.g. if there was a postcode object, you could create a 'Post Code Area' variable to group all post codes that started 'CH', all postcodes that started 'L', etc. and replace the postcode object with the new variable so that only the values CH and L appeared in the report rather than CH1, CH2, CH3, etc.
Is it possible to do this in XI R3 WebIntelligence? Or Webi Rich Client? I've searched the help, this forum and Googled but can't find any reference to it at all.
Regards,
Anne.

Hi,
if I understand correctly you would like to be able to create sorts of classes for variables within a Web Intelligence document as it was possible in legacy versions
This is not possible and seems a quite interesting feature that you can suggest at [https://ideas.sap.com ] where you can have your voice and other users can vote, I suggest to post here the link to your idea so it can get additional votes...
Thanks!
Best regards,
Simone

• Need help in grouping data Value.

Hi Techies,
I have a requirement where i need to group the rating acording to issuer country and show the aggegated data value in the report.
Country
Rating
Value
US
A
324
US
AA
43
Europe
C
8
Canada
A
34
Here in the below tables we are showing aggegated data for US . We are having 2 ratings for US so we grouped together and showing it in the one row .
Country
Rating
Value
US
A/AA
367
Europe
C
8
Canada
A
34
Please suggest if we can achieve this in webi.

Hi Harpreet,
Create a variable for count of ratings,
=count([RATING])
Create a another variable for rating
=If [COUNT]=2 Then "A/AA" Else [RATING]

• Column formatting based on grouping data value- advanced data grid

Hello Everyone,
I am using advanced data grid to display hierarchial data nested upto depth 4. I have to color the leaf nodes conditionally based on the grouped column value.
Say for Eg.,
If the data is something like
Company
Manager
Jim          $4000
John        $3000
Accountant
Smith     $2000
Sam       $3000
I have to color Jim and John based on they being a manager. In other words, how do I get Manager and Company information for the leaf rows. The data is serial to start with and I am grouping it before displaying.
Please let me know how this could be done.
Thanks
Arun

Once htmldb.oracle.com is available again, you may have a look in my demo application:
http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=31517:1
In the tab section I, you will find several examples on pop-up pages. There this conditional
displaying is included as well.

commit;I need a maximum date value join_date for each department. If max(join_date) has two records for each dept then max(end_date) should be considered. I have used a below select query
select * from student where join_date in (select

1     D     1/1/1920     5     8/26/1994
1     C     1/1/1920     6     8/26/1945

5 I 2/10/1931 24 8/26/1962But I am looking for the result which gives me only one maximum value for each dept column. First it should look for maximum value of join_date, if two records has same join_date then max(end_date) should be considered. The result should be sumthing like this
1     D     1/1/1920     5     8/26/1994
2     D     8/16/1916     10     8/26/1987
3     I     7/28/1920     8     8/26/1965
4     C     6/10/1929     30     8/26/1967
5 I 2/10/1931 24 8/26/1962Can you please tell me how to rewrite the select query to get the above results.

Hi,
That's called a Top-N Query , and here's one way to do it:
WITH     got_r_num     AS
SELECT     student.*
,     ROW_NUMBER () OVER ( PARTITION BY  dept
ORDER BY          join_date     DESC
,                end_date     DESC
)      AS r_num
FROM    student
SELECT       dept, dep_name, join_date, years_attended, end_date
FROM       got_r_num
WHERE       r_num     = 1
ORDER BY  dept
;Another way is similar to what you originally posted:
SELECT    *
FROM       student
WHERE        (dept, join_date, end_date)
IN (
SELECT    dept
,       MAX (join_date)
,       MAX (end_date) KEEP (DENSE_RANK LAST ORDER BY join_date)
FROM      student
GROUP BY     dept
);I suspect the first way (using ROW_NUMBER) will be faster.
Also, the ROW_NUMBER approach is guaranteed to return only 1 row per dept. Using the GROUP BY approach,if there is a tie on join_date and end_date, then it will return all contenders in that dept. Using ROW_NUMBER, it's easy to add as many tie-breaking expressions as you want, and, if there is still a tie, it will arbirarily pick one of the rows involved in the tie as #1.
Thanks for posting the CREATE TABLE and INSERT statments! That's very helpful.

• Call tcode from alv report and passing group of values

hi all .
i want to call tcode from alv report and passing an internal table or group of values to a selection option of that t code ? how
ex. passing group of GL to fbl3n and display the detials of all .
thank you

Dear,
You have done a small mistake
--> rspar_line-option = 'EQ'.
rspar_line-HIGH = PDATE-HIGH.
u r passing "high" value and in "option u r passing "EQ" so how it will work!!!
So if u r passing only 1 date or more dates like 01.01.2010 , 15.02.2010 , 10.03.2010 then pass
rspar_line-selname = 'SO_BUDAT'.
rspar_line-kind = 'S'.
rspar_line-sign = 'I'.
rspar_line-option = 'EQ'.
rspar_line-LOW = PDATE-HIGH.
APPEND rspar_line TO rspar_tab.
or if u r passing low & high date means in range like 01.01.2010 to 30.01.2010, then pass
rspar_line-selname = 'SO_BUDAT'.
rspar_line-kind = 'S'.
rspar_line-sign = 'I'.
rspar_line-option = 'BT''.
rspar_line-LOW = PDATE-LOW.
rspar_line-HIGH = PDATE-HIGH.
APPEND rspar_line TO rspar_tab.
try above code , hope it helps...
i think u cannot use "call transaction using bdcdata" in ur case bcoz as u said in ur 1st post u want to display the details of all but still if u want to use then u should pass all parameters in loop.
PROGRAM
DYNPRO
DYNBEGIN
FNAM
FVAL
ex:-
LOOP AT GT_TEMP INTO GS_TEMP.
CLEAR bdcdata_wa.
bdcdata_PROGRAM = 'SAPXXXX'.
bdcdata_DYNPRO = '1000'.
bdcdata_DYNBEGIN = 'X'.
bdcdata_wa-fnam = '''.
bdcdata_wa-fval = ''.
APPEND bdcdata_wa TO bdcdata_tab.
CLEAR bdcdata_wa.
bdcdata_PROGRAM = ''.
bdcdata_DYNPRO = ''.
bdcdata_DYNBEGIN = ''.
bdcdata_wa-fnam = 'SD_SAKNR'.
bdcdata_wa-fval = GS_TEMP-GLACCOUNT.
APPEND bdcdata_wa TO bdcdata_tab.
CLEAR bdcdata_wa.

bdcdata_wa-fnam = 'BDC_OKCODE'.
bdcdata_wa-fval = 'XXX'.
APPEND bdcdata_wa TO bdcdata_tab.

try above code if u r using call transaction...

• Origin Group as Value field in COPA - Is that Possible

Hello Gurus,
The business requirement is to see all the Origin Groups as Value fields in COPA - Is that Possible? If Yes, Please suggest me the steps to follow.
Thanks a lot for your time.
Regards,
PM

Hi Praveen
Origin group cant be a Value Field.. It can be a Characteristic...
Try with these 2 options
1. KEA5 - Click on Create/Change a new Char and Try to create it with reference from table MBEW... If this is allowed, you will be able to plug in the Field Origin group in yur COPA data structure... regenerate your op concern after this
2. If (1) is not allowed, then create a WW char and write a derivation rule in KEDR with ref to Table LOOKUP and use table MBEW

• [Forum FAQ] How do I export each group data to separated Excel files in Reporting Services?

Introduction
There is a scenario that a report grouped by one field for some reasons, then the users want to export each group data to separated Excel files. By default, we can directly export only one file at a time on report server. Is there a way that we can split
the report based on the group, then export each report to Excel file?
Solution
To achieve this requirement, we can add a parameter with the group values to filter the report based on the group, then create a data-driven subscription for the report which get File name and parameter from the group values.
In the report, create a parameter named Name which use the Name field as Available Values (supposing the group grouped on Name field).
Add a filter as below in the corresponding tablix:
Expression: [Name]
Operator: =
Value: [@Name]
Deploy the report. Then create a data-driven subscription with Windows File Share delivery extension for the report in Report Manager.
During the data-driven subscription, in the step 3, specify a query that returns the Name field with the values as the group in the report.
In the step 4 (Specify delivery extension settings for Report Server FileShare), below “File name”option, select “Get the value from the database”, then select Name field.
Below ‘Render Format’ option, select Excel as the static value.
In the step 5, we can configure parameter Name “Get the value from the database”, then select Name field.
Then specify the subscription execute only one time.

Thanks,
Is this a supported scenario, or does it use unsupported features?
For example, can we call exec [ReportServer].dbo.AddEvent @EventType='TimedSubscription', @EventData='b64ce7ec-d598-45cd-bbc2-ea202e0c129d'
in a supported way?

• Grouping data sent to servlet

I have an applet servlet pair and I'm having trouble grouping the data coming in from various clients. Let's say there are five clients connected to the servlet on individual threads. The data from clients A, B, and C need to be grouped together, while the data from clients D and E are grouped together. In reality the exact groupings are determined at runtime by the users, but for out example let's say this is how it has worked out. My idea was to create for each group an instance of some class, let's call it simply "clientGroup" on the server that holds and processes the data for each client group. So data coming in from clients A, B or C would be placed into clientGroup1, while any data that came in from D and E would be placed in clientGroup2. To do this it seems that I need to send some sort of metadata with the actual data I'm sending from the applet to the servlet that instructs the servlet "put this data into clientGroup1" or whichever. Reflexivity seems only to be able to create new objects of class clientGroup, not reference and edit existing instances like clientGroup1 or clientGroup2. So what can I pass along with my data to instruct the servlet in which class instance to put the incoming data?

At least you should be able to identify clients to check to which group they belong. The client should for example be logged in and its group ID should already be known at the server side. Or let the client pass a specific parameter indicating the group ID. If you can do that, then it is just easy. Declare an applicationwide Map somewhere where you use the group ID as key and the group data as value.

• Oracle how to assign a date value in a parameter declaration

How can I assign a date value to a parameter declaration in SQL?
Here's my existing script.
CURRENT:
select distinct summary as "iCash EAD Error Summary",count(*)
from AAA.BKS_ICASH_EAD_ERRORS
where creation_date > to_date('5/26/12 8:50','mm/dd/yy HH24:MI')
group by summary
I'd like to assign the date I'm searching for into a parameter and use the parameter in my query.
GOAL:
DECLARE
pCreateDate DATE;
exec :pCreateDate := '5/26/12 8:50';
select distinct summary as "iCash EAD Error Summary",count(*)
from AAA.BKS_ICASH_EAD_ERRORS
where creation_date > to_date(:pCreateDate,'mm/dd/yy HH24:MI')
group by summary

Hi,
In SQL*Plus, you can do this:
VARIABLE     pcreatdate     VARCHAR2 (20)
EXEC           :pcreatedate := '5/26/12 8:50';
SELECT summary AS "iCash EAD Error Summary"
, COUNT (*) AS "Total Count"
FROM        aaa.bks_icash_ead_errors
WHERE       creation_date  > TO_DATE (:pcreatedate, 'MM/DD/RRRR HH24:MI')
GROUP BY  summary
;"GROUP BY summary" means you'll get one output row for each distinct value of summary. There's no need to SELECT DISTINCT since the GROUP BY is already making sure the rows are distinct.
There are no DATE bind variables in SQL*Plus, so you have to use a VARCHAR2.
If you do something similar in PL/SQL, then you can use a DATE variable. Make sure you don't call TO_DATE on something that's already a DATE.

• Grouping Data with JSP or JSTL

Hi All,
I would like to ask a question about how I can group data in JSP. Essentially, I have a DataBean (extends ArrayList) that is being returned to my JSP. The ArrayList contains HashTables. Please note that the JSP assumes the data is returned in sorted order. This JSP is not responsible for sorting the data itself.
[UPDATED EXAMPLE]
For example, here is what the data might look like:
Column A Column B Column C
1 2 3
1 15 20
4 5 6
4 99 66
7 8 9
10 11 12
Here is how I would use my DataBean:
String column1Name =bundle.getString(columnA.title);
String column2Name =bundle.getString("columnB.title");
String column3Name =bundle.getString("columnC.title");
/* Loop through the bean. */
for (int i=1;i<myDataBean.size();i++) {
Hashtable reportRow=myDataBean.get(i);
String column1Value=reportRow.get(Constants.COLUMNA);
String column2Value=reportRow.get(Constants.COLUMNB);
String column3Value=reportRow.get(Constants.COLUMNC);
}Question
If I want to change my layout/display to group by a particular column. How would I do that without changing the data structure that is running my current DataBean? Below is an example of grouping by the values in ColumnA.
ColumnA: 1
ColumnB ColumnC
2 3
15 20
ColumnA: 4
ColumnB ColumnC
5 6
99 66
ColumnA: 7
ColumnB ColumnC
8 9
ColumnA: 10
ColumnB ColumnC
11 12
Your help is very much appreciated.
Thanks!

Just curious, do people find my question unclear? Can I help clarify any points?

I know some of you guys can handle this. I tried hard but coud not succeed. Could you help me ?
Regards, Christian.

Difficult to work out (read: too much hassle) with your data and sql, as you haven't provided a set of info for all the tables provided, but hopefully this will give you an idea:
with my_tab as (select trunc(sysdate)+30 dt, 1 val from dual union all
select trunc(sysdate) dt, 2 val from dual union all
select trunc(sysdate) dt, 20 val from dual union all
select trunc(sysdate)+30 dt, 10 val from dual union all
select trunc(sysdate)+60 dt, 6 val from dual)
-- end of mockup of table "my_tab"; see SQL below...
select trunc(dt, 'mm') dt, sum(val)
from   my_tab
group by trunc(dt, 'mm')
order by trunc(dt, 'mm');
DT          SUM(VAL)
01-MAR-09         22
01-APR-09         11
01-MAY-09          6

• Where do changed data values goto if DB is in BACKUP mode for LONG PERIODs

Where does oracle write if put the database in begin backup mode for LONG PERIODs. Lets say I issued a "ALTER DATABASE BEGIN BACKUP" command in a busy database and forgot about it for a long time.
I understand that when the DB IS IN BEGIN BACKUP MODE, "the database copies whole changed data blocks into the redo stream." (Page 503 of 11.1 backup and recovery guide). But the redo stream is limited by the number of online redologs. After some time redologs also wont be sufficient for the changed data values after a begin backup is issued. I understand that there are archived redologs.
Lets say there are 2 redolog groups in this database and Lets say 10 archive log files got generated since the ALTER DATABASE BEGIN BACKUP was issued.
When i finally issue the "ALTER DATABASE END BACKUP" command, will Oracle sync the datafiles with the changed data blocks reading the data from these 10 archived log files ? What happens if i delete these archive redologs from the archive log destination. ??
page 504 of 598 in the backup and recovery guide
Caution : If you fail to take the tablespace out of backup mode,
then Oracle Database continues to write copies of data blocks in
this tablespace to the online redo logs, causing performance
problems. Also, you receive an ORA-01149 error if you try to shut
down the database with the tablespaces still in backup mode.
it just says "performance problems", nothing more than that.*
Any answers ? I am sure this question would have popped to some of you senior DBA people out there.

The redo stream is not limited by the number of of redo logs, only the volume of data. When a log fills up, it gets archived. If all the logs get filled up before the first one is finished archiving, the db will stall until the next redo becomes available. The only limit to archiving is disk space (and bandwidth if that is an issue, which it can be in some configurations).

You do not understand archive logs, read the concepts manual.

• Cisco ISE with AD Problem: "Could not read groups data: Global catalog not found"

Hi all,
When I make the ActiveDirectory integration with Cisco ISE, I have complete with this integration. but when I try to read the Groups from Active Directory, ISE shows the message "Could not read groups data: Global catalog not found".
My Domain has multiple sites and subnets, each contains GC for local logon. I have set ISE to the correct site and subnet. Forward and Reverse DNS are working with no error.
Does anyone get this problem, please help.
I have check into the ISE CLI Reference Guide 1.1.x
You are about to configure Active Directory settings.
Are you sure you want to proceed? y/n [n]: y
Parameter Name: dns.servers
Parameter Value: 10.77.122.135
Active Directory internal setting modification should only be performed if approved by ISE
support. Please confirm this change has been approved y/n [n]: y
What shoud I set in the Parameter Name ? dns.servers or my dns hostname ?
Please suggest for this too.
Thanks and Regards,
Pongsatorn M.

Hi Pongsatorn,
Thanks for the reply!
I've attached the results of the ISE detailed AD test. As you can see, there is a fair number of domain controllers in the AD forest.
It seems everything works correctly until it gets to testing the AD connectivity on port 3268. Then I get this:
Testing Active Directory connectivity:
Global Catalog: pdascdc02.xyz.com
gc:       3268/tcp - refused
Testing Active Directory connectivity:
Global Catalog: pdascdc02.xyz.com
gc:       3268/tcp - refused
For some reason, the request to the controllers on port 3268 is being refused.
Any thoughts you might have are greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Greg

• How to group data and assign cell names using Excel templates

Hi all,
reading the article "Real Excel Templates 1.5" on the Tim Dexter's Blog, I found that I need hierarchical data for Excel templates. So only in this way I can group my data.
My hierarchy is composed by 3 levels:
lev 1 DESTINATION: is the higher level that groups SERVICES and COUNTRY
lev 2 SERVICES: is the level that groups the countries
lev 3 COUNTRY: is the lowest level with the COUNTRY, CALLS and CALLS_MINUTES details
An example of my hierarchy is this:
lev 1 INTERNATIONAL
lev 2 INTERNATIONAL FIXED
lev 3 Albania 90 438,15
lev 3 Armenia 1 16,95
lev 2 INTERNATIONAL MOBILE
lev 3 Albania Mobile 161 603,35
lev 3 Australia Mobile 6 34,38
lev 1 NATIONAL
lev 2 HELLAS LOCAL
lev 3 Hellas Local 186,369 707940,6
lev 2 HELLAS MOBILE
lev 3 Hellas Mobile Cosmote 31,33 43856,97
lev 3 Hellas Mobile Q-Telecom 2,398 4343,78
lev 2 HELLAS NATIONAL
lev 3 Hellas Long Distance 649 1499,55
lev 1 INTERNET
lev 2 INTERNET CALLS
lev 3 Cosmoline @Free 79 2871,3
So, my data template is the following (with exactly the hierarchy I want for my data):
<dataTemplate name="emp" description="destinations" dataSourceRef="GINO_DB">
<dataQuery>
<sqlStatement name="Q1">
<![CDATA[SELECT 1 TOTAL_CALLS, 2 TOTAL_CALLS_MIN from dual ]]>
</sqlStatement>
<sqlStatement name="Q2">
<![CDATA[SELECT dest.ID_DESTINATION, dest.DESC_DEST from ale.AAA_DESTINATION dest order by dest.ID_DESTINATION ]]>
</sqlStatement>
<sqlStatement name="Q3">
<![CDATA[SELECT ser.ID_SERVICE,
ser.ID_DEST,
ser.DESC_SERVICE,
count.ID_COUNTRY,
count.ID_SERV,
count.COUNTRY,
count.CALLS,
count.CALLS_MIN
from ale.AAA_SERVICE ser, ale.AAA_COUNTRY count
where ser.ID_SERVICE= count.ID_SERV
and ID_DEST = :ID_DESTINATION
order by ser.ID_SERVICE ]]>
</sqlStatement>
</dataQuery>
<dataStructure>
<group name="G_TOT" source="Q1">
<element name="TOTAL_CALLS" value="G_COUNTRY.CALLS" function="SUM()"/>
<element name="TOTAL_CALLS_MIN" value="G_COUNTRY.CALLS_MIN" function="SUM()"/>
<group name="G_DEST" source="Q2">
<element name="DESC_DEST" value="DESC_DEST"/>
<element name="DEST_CALLS_SUBTOTAL" value="G_COUNTRY.CALLS" function="SUM()"/>
<element name="DEST_CALLS_MIN_SUBTOTAL" value="G_COUNTRY.CALLS_MIN" function="SUM()"/>
<group name="G_SERV" source="Q3">
<element name="DESC_SERVICE" value="DESC_SERVICE"/>
<element name="SERV_CALLS_SUBTOTAL" value="G_COUNTRY.CALLS" function="SUM()"/>
<element name="SERV_CALLS_MIN_SUBTOTAL" value="G_COUNTRY.CALLS_MIN" function="SUM()"/>
<group name="G_COUNTRY" source="Q3">
<element name="COUNTRY" value="COUNTRY"/>
<element name="CALLS" value="CALLS"/>
<element name="CALLS_MIN" value="CALLS_MIN"/>
</group>
</group>
</group>
</group>
</dataStructure>
</dataTemplate>
Not considering the CALLS and CALLS_MIN details (I focused only on the COUNTRY which is as the same level), with this data template, making tests on my excel template, I noticed that I can group ONLY two nested levels using the format XDO_GROUP_?group_name?
XDO_GROUP_?G_DEST?
XDO_GROUP_?G_SERV?
or
XDO_GROUP_?G_DEST?
XDO_GROUP_?G_COUNTRY?
or
XDO_GROUP_?G_SERV?
XDO_GROUP_?G_COUNTRY
If I try to group all the three level together in this order
XDO_GROUP_?G_DEST?
XDO_GROUP_?G_SERV?
XDO_GROUP_?G_COUNTRY
I don't have the output I would like to have.....
Practically, in my excel I have 3 rows with the following labels
DESTINATION (called XDO_?DESC_DEST? - =Sheet1!$A$3
SERVICE (called XDO_?DESC_SERVICE? - =Sheet1!$A$4
COUNTRY (called XDO_?COUNTRY? - =Sheet1!$A$5)
where
XDO_GROUP_?G_DEST? (=Sheet1!$A$3:$B$5)
XDO_GROUP_?G_SERV? (=Sheet1!$A$4:$B$5)
XDO_GROUP_?G_COUNTRY     (=Sheet1!$A$5:$B$5)
I noticed that if I don't use the last one (XDO_GROUP_?G_COUNTRY), my output is correct even if I don't have more than one country for each service....As soon as I put XDO_GROUP_?G_COUNTRY....I loose all the 2nd level and the most of times the 3rd level too....
So...I think that the problem is how I choose the excel cells when I assign the XDO_GROUP_?group_name?
Anybody had made some tests, or can help me ???? I'm becoming crazy.....
Any help will be appreciated
Thanks in advance
Alex

But how can I use tags XDO_GROUP_?? to group data correctly using hierarchial xml, I don't want to use flat XML.
Yep, I using Template Builder in Excel to run reports localy, and output is wrong
It's seems that groups couldn't define the level of nesting, I think...
How can I write it in XDO_METADATA sheet?
Though I have hierarchial XML and groups should define nesting level correctly.
I have no clue.....
