XI sent an XML file to my Servlet(J2EE appl), how to display?

Hi all!
I have a scenario like FIle->XI->J2EE appl.
How to test whether XI is sending XML file to my Servlet(J2EE appl). I have to display the same XML file as it is in browser using Servlet/JSP.
Code help is highly appreciated.
Thanks!

Hi Uma!
Thanks for your answer.
The code is not displaying any thing on browser.
I deployed the appl on Weblogic9.0 server. How to test whether XI is sending the XML file to my J2EE appl.
I have used NWDS2.0.9 for developing J2EE appl.
This is my application.xml file:

  • Writing an XML file using a Servlet

    Hello, I'm trying to code a servlet that receives a POST from a HTTP and output its data to a XML file, the problem is that I get the following error:
    The XML page cannot be displayed
    Cannot view XML input using style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.
    XML document must have a top level element. Error processing resource 'http://localhost:8080/XMLSender/xmlsend'.
    I don't know what happens, because I'm NOT trying to show the content, just to save it, I post my code here so anyone can help me, please. Thanks in advance.
    import javax.servlet.*;
    import javax.servlet.http.*;
    import java.io.*;
    public class xmlsender extends HttpServlet
    public void service(HttpServletRequest req, HttpServletResponse res)
    throws ServletException, IOException
    ServletOutputStream salida = res.getOutputStream();
    res.setContentType("text/xml");
    String cadenanumero = req.getParameter("numero");
    String cadenaoperadora = req.getParameter("operadora");
    String cadenabody = req.getParameter("mensaje");
    String cadenashortcode = req.getParameter("shortcode");
    File f1 = new File("salida.xml");
    FileWriter writer = new FileWriter(f1);
    writer.write("<?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"utf-8\"?>");
    writer.write("<root>");
    writer.write("<tlf>" + cadenanumero + "</tlf>");
    writer.write("<op>" + cadenaoperadora + "</op>");
    writer.write("<sc>" + cadenashortcode + "</sc>");
    writer.write("<body>" + cadenabody + "</body>");
    writer.write("</root>");
    writer.close();
    }

    Yes, in fact what I want is the file to be in the server, now, I modificated my code to the following:
    import javax.servlet.*;
    import javax.servlet.http.*;
    import java.io.*;
    public class xmlsender extends HttpServlet
    public void service(HttpServletRequest req, HttpServletResponse res)
    throws ServletException, IOException
    ServletOutputStream salida = res.getOutputStream();
    res.setContentType("text/HTML");
    String cadenanumero = req.getParameter("numero");
    String cadenaoperadora = req.getParameter("operadora");
    String cadenabody = req.getParameter("mensaje");
    String cadenashortcode = req.getParameter("shortcode");
    File f1 = new File ("salida.xml");
    FileWriter writer = new FileWriter(f1);
    /*salida.println("<?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"utf-8\"?>");
    salida.println("<root>");
    salida.println("<tlf>" + cadenanumero + "</tlf>");
    salida.println("<op>" + cadenaoperadora + "</op>");
    salida.println("<sc>" + cadenashortcode + "</sc>");
    salida.println("<body>" + cadenabody + "</body>");
    salida.println("</root>"); */
    salida.println("Finalizado");
    f1.createNewFile();
    writer.write("<?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"utf-8\"?>");
    writer.write("<root>");
    writer.write("<tlf>" + cadenanumero + "</tlf>");
    writer.write("<op>" + cadenaoperadora + "</op>");
    writer.write("<sc>" + cadenashortcode + "</sc>");
    writer.write("<body>" + cadenabody + "</body>");
    writer.write("</root>");
    writer.close();
    It still do not create my file "salida.xml", still don't know why. Any help is welcome.

  • Read xml file from jsp/servlet

    Hi all,
    I am a new comer to jsp and really appreciate if someone can help me on this:
    I will like to use a xml file to control access to my web app instead of using a database. Let say user.xml that will contains user name and password. Questions:
    1. where should I put this file? Under WEB-INF?
    2. In my jsp or servlet, how do i read the xml file, i mean how to i refer to the file (depend on question 1 as where the file should be placed)?
    Thank you very much.
    Sim

    Hi jlsim,
    you can place the xml file where you want, but remember that placing it under /WEB-INF is the most security way.
    I had a similar problem and I placed the xml file under /WEB-INF directory.
    To refer to it I did something like this:
    String realPath=getServletContext().getRealPath("WEB-INF/xml/workspaces.xml");//obtain the real path
    File f=new File(realPath);//obtain an instance of your file usable
    //to create an InputStream

    Hi All,
    As per the requirement, I have to remane the name of the XML file which is under the KM repository Userhome/personaldocuments based on the user logon information.
    I have created a Repository service for the same and following is the code for the same. The service is working, but only for the first entry in the XML form. Second onwards, the file does not get remaned to the preferred one.
    Request you to throw some light as what is wrong or missing in the code, so that I can follow the right approach. Many thanks in advance.

    Hi
    please have a look at the test code which generates a static xml code , might be the change reqd here is that the request you are getting is xml which has to be passed to the response object
    public class test extends HttpServlet
      public void doGet
        HttpServletRequest  req,   // This provides information sent by the browser
        HttpServletResponse res    // This is used to send information back to the browser
      ) throws
        ServletException,          // General exception that should be thrown if there
                                   // is a unrecoverable error in the Servlet
        IOException
        // Set the MIME type for the information being sent to the browser.
        // In this case, we are going to send back HTML
        <i> <b>  res.setContentType( "text/xml" );</b></i>
        // Get a reference to the output stream.
        // Anything written to this stream is sent directly to the browser
        // (The browser sees this as its input).
           ServletOutputStream out = res.getOutputStream();
        // The following println statements create an HTML page.
        // Notice that the <html></html>, <head></head>, and <body></body>
        // tags are all properly formed HTML syntax.
           out.println("<?xml version=\"1.0\"?>" );
           out.println("<?xml:stylesheet type=\"text/xsl\" href=\"file:///c:/servlets/test.xsl\"?>");
           out.println("<persons>");

  • How to upload a XML file to Servlet

    Hi,
    I am new to Java, I have to upload an XML file to java/j2ee server. The web server running on the server is "Tomcat 4.1". My new requirement is I have to upload an "Input.XML" file, can you please tell me how to upload an XML file. If any samples appriciated very soon.
    Thanks & Regards,

    Hi!
    On the client side, the client's browser must support form-based upload. Most modern browsers do, but there's no guarantee. For example,
    <FORM ENCTYPE='multipart/form-data'
    method='POST' action='/myservlet'>
    <INPUT TYPE='file' NAME='mptest'>
    <INPUT TYPE='submit' VALUE='upload'>
    </FORM>
    The input type &quot;file&quot; brings up a button for a file select box on the browser together with a text field that takes the file name once selected. The servlet can use the GET method parameters to decide what to do with the upload while the POST body of the request contains the file data to parse.
    When the user clicks the "Upload" button, the client browser locates the local file and sends it using HTTP POST, encoded using the MIME-type multipart/form-data. When it reaches your servlet, your servlet must process the POST data in order to extract the encoded file. You can learn all about this format in RFC 1867.
    Unfortunately, there is no method in the Servlet API to do this. Fortunately, there are a number of libraries available that do. Some of these assume that you will be writing the file to disk; others return the data as an InputStream.
    You can see more things about Servlet on this website [http://pedrofao.blogspot.com|http://pedrofao.blogspot.com].

  • How can i send xml file with a http servlet request

    Hi
    Please tell me how can I send a xml file into http servlet request.
    I have a servlet(action) java file.From this servlet I have generate a xml file. Now I need to send that xml file to another servlet with http servlet request object.
    Dave.

    When you say you have generated an XML file what do you mean?
    Is it a file stored on disk? Then pass the file path as a string to the servlet.
    Is it stored in memory as an object? The pass a reference to the object to the servlet.
    Or are you asking how to communicate between servlets?
    Look in the JavaDocs for the RequestDispatcher class. You can use this class to forward the request to another servlet. Data can be passes using the RequestDispatcher by storing it as attributes using the request getAttribute and setAttribute methods. Also described in the JavaDOcs.

  • Help on web.xml file, what if the parameters contains key words ?

    Hi:
    I am just wondering what should I do if I want to include key words suchs
    as <param> in web.xml file for a servlet config.
    Example:
    <servlet>
    <servlet-name>testServlet</servlet-name>
    <parameter>
    <param-name>some name</param-name>
    <param-value>some value</param-value>
    </parameter>
    </servlet>
    What should I do if I want to repleace 'some value' with '</param-value>some
    value' and still to prevent the engine to terminate parsing the param-value
    at the fake ending? Is there a standard way in XML to distanguish that?
    (in URL format it can be replaced %xx for some chars).
    ie,
    <param-value> </param-value>some value</param-value>
    where the second </param-value> is the real ending.
    Thank you!

    Hi!
    You can use "& lt ;" and "& gt ;" xml entities for that. Or wrap text element in <![CDATA[...]]> section.

    Hello,
    many thanks for the reply. Your examples are very usefull for me.
    To answer your questions.
    An XML structure:
    /etd
        /header - repeat in each row in output
        /account_group/account
            /invoice
                /da - repeat for each details under "selected "invoice
                /detaildc/dc - the lowest level
                /detaildn/dn - the lowest level
                /dt - repeat for each details under "selected "invoice
        /footer - repeat in each row in outputI would like to to have a 1 row for each "record" in /detaildc section and include related nodes at higher levels.
    Please see below XML file, which is simplified file of example in first post, but includes a complete xml structure which needs to be queried in db.
