  • Apex 3.0: export a report as .csv file without any Enclosed By character?

    In Apex "Report Attributes page/Report Export" is possible to define the Enclosed By field.
    The default Enclosed By by characters are a double quotation marks (" ").
    Is there a way to export the report as .csv file without any Enclosed By character?
    Example line format:
    a) using default Enclosed By
    "value1";"value2";"value3"
    b) using ('') as Enclosed By
    'value1';'value2';'value3'
    c) using blank space as Enclosed By
    value1 ; value2 ; value
    d) without any Enclosed By character
    value1;value2;value3
    What can we do in Apex to export a report as .csv file with the line format example d)?
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi,
    There is no Out of the box feature in Apex to achieve this functionality. But what you can do is write a page process to generate the CSV that you want.
    For this what I will do is on the first page where you press the Button it will call a PL/SQL page process which actually generates the csv. You can keep the existing report only for display purposes. Find the below process which generate the csv that you require.
    begin
    -- Set the MIME type
    owa_util.mime_header( 'application/octet', FALSE );
    -- Set the name of the file
    htp.p('Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="filename.csv"');
    -- Close the HTTP Header
    owa_util.http_header_close;
    htp.prn('columnHeader1,ColumnHeader2,ColumnHeader3'||chr(13));
    -- Loop through all rows
    for x in (
    Select column1,column2,column3 from table;
    loop
    -- Print out a portion of a row,
    -- separated by commas and ended by a CR
    htp.prn(x."column1"||','||x."column2"||','||x."column3"||chr(13));
    end loop;
    -- Send an error code so that the
    -- rest of the HTML does not render
    htmldb_application.g_unrecoverable_error := true; --You can leave out this line if you still want to display the existing HTML report.
    end;
    This will show a download box, so you can download the csv file. The page process should be called before header and the condition should be the button press.

  • CrystalReportViewer export/print report without CSS styles

    Hello,
    I've faced with one issue in CrystalReportViewer control and couldn't solve it by my own efforts. Before I wanted post it exactly to this forum I've found that some people already faced with that problem too...but nobody didn't receive any answer, so I have a big hope that I'll receive it here.
    My problem is related to CrystalReportViewer control and especially to its styles. I have a test application which has just one aspx page which displays very simple test report (just 3 TextObjects, for test purposes) and each TextObject has its own style which stores in css file in my web site. So, CrystalReportViewer control displays report correct, but when I export/print this report to PDF or any other document all styles are lost.
    Could someone help me with this issue or maybe just point me what thing I missed or just tuned incorrect.
    Thanks in advance.
    Best regards,
    Sasha

    It's a pity that this control hasn't possibility to export/print report with its styles, because I think it is a very useful thing.
    Thank you very much Adam, for your short and clear answer.

  • Exporting Crystal Report To Excel

    Hello,
    I have created a report in crystal for my company. It sorts by rep name, then customer, then products they purchased. When I export to excel, it comes over fine, but the customer name, address, etc. is in the same column as quantity, price, etc.
    I want to be able to sort this date in excel by customer, or product, etc. but cant since some of the data from the crystal report takes up the same columns as other data within excel, also the formating,"******: and other stuff that sperates the data in crystal report to make it easier to read when printed comes over to.
    How can I export this report without all the formating, page formats, etc. not coming over to excel and be able to have each unique field within its own column so i can sort easily in excel.
    thanks
    don

    Hi,
    Place the fields next to each other in report design. Set appropriate width. While exporting in Export window select following format from dropdown
    Microsoft Excel 97-2000 Data only (XLS)
    click OK
    then in Excel Format Options window select
    Excel Format 'Custom: Data is exported according to selected options' radio button. There are three radio buttons.
    In Column Width select 2nd radio button
    Column width based on objects in the : Details (there is dropdown for this)
    And at the end there 8 check boxes. Out of 8 you have to select 4
    check - Export object formatting
    check - Maintain relative object position
    check - Simplify page headers
    check - show group outlines
    Hope this helps.

  • Exporting a Report to PDF

    Post Author: helfrich
    CA Forum: Crystal Reports
    I am re-writing a VB6 app to VB.NET 2005.  I have a viewer control that I use to display the reports in when I want to preview the report on the screen.  The VB6 app can also automatically export reports to PDF format silently (no user input or screen output).  I would like to do the same in VB.NET.  In the VB6 app, I simply set the viewer control's ExportOptions.PDFExportAllPages = True (I also set the DiskFileName FormatType, and DestinationType parameters).  I then display the form containing the viewer with the .Hide parameter.  This exports the report without displaying the report on the screen.  I have not been able to find any information that allows me to do the same thing in .NET with Crystal Reports XI.
    I have tried creating a ReportDocument object, but when I execute .Export(), I get a "Missing parameter values" error - absolutely no other information.
    For example:
    Dim crExportOptions As New ExportOptions
    Dim crDiskFileDestinationOptions As New DiskFileDestinationOptions()
    Dim crFormatTypeOptions As New PdfRtfWordFormatOptions()
    Dim crReport As New ReportDocument
    crDiskFileDestinationOptions.DiskFileName = "C:\Test.PDF"
    crExportOptions.ExportFormatOptions = crFormatTypeOptions
    crExportOptions.ExportDestinationType = ExportDestiniationType.DiskFile
    crExportOptions.ExportFormatType = ExportFormatType.PortableDocFormat
    crExportOptions.ExportDestinationOptions = crDiskFileDestinationOptions
    crReport.Load("C:\Test.rpt")
    crReport.Export(crExportOptions)
    This is where the error occurs.
    I also tried setting Viewer.Visible = False followed by Viewer.ExportReport().  The viewer does not display, but this prompts for the export filename.  The whole idea is for the export to be completely invisible to the user.
    I don't care which solution I use:
    1.  How can I get rid of the "Missing parameter values" error using the ReportDocument
    or
    2. Is there a way I can use .ExportReport(), but preset the export filename so there is not prompt?
    TIA for any help anyone can offer.

            End Select
      u2018close the report
            crOrderPrintout.Close()
    The file option will print directly to a file without prompting the user.  As for the missing parameter values if I had to guess either it's the dataset missing a parameter or the report requires a value.  Example:
    crOrderPrintout.SetParameterValue("ParamName", sParamValue)

  • Layout Issue after exporting crystal report XI in pdf format

    Hi All,
    I have developed a crystal report in XI version. I have set my page layout properties in the report to be in landscape orientation and A2 size sheet with No Printer(optimize for screen display) option unchecked. The problem is when I export the report in pdf and open the report in pdf for printing, it takes the printer preference settings that are set to portrait and letter format. If I change my printer prefence settings to landscape, it works fine. But, I do not want to change my printer preference settings and want that the settings that I am giving in crystal report designer must be taken for printing purposes in pdf.
    I hope, I was able to put forward the question correctly without any confusion.
    Can someone please help me out to find a solution ?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Akshay
    Always quote the actual version of Crystal Reports you are working with. E.g.; CR IX is not quite enough and the best place to find the actual version is in the Help | About screen of the CR designer.
    By CR XI, you could mean CR 11.0.x, or CR 11.5.x. If you are using CR 11.0.x, update to CR 11.5 (also referred to as CR XI R2). See this blog on how to.

  • No link to the local .avi files after exporting Crystal report as .pdf

    Hello all,
    The overall scenario is like-
    My application fires a query on SQL Server database and result of that query is stored in a Dataset. This dataset is set as a datasource to the Crystal report.  Now some, records (returned by the query) have .avi files(i.e. Event Videos which are stored on the local hard disk) associated with them. I have stored these .avi files in a specific path on local Hard disk say "C:/EventVideos/*.avi" .   I used a special format in these avi files name. (like - "EventVideo_1.avi" (This is for 1st event), "EventVideo_5.avi" (This is for 5th event)etc. to identify which avi is for which event. All events do not have avi files associated with them)
          Now, I take one Text Object in crystal report. Using it's Format editor created a formula for hyperlink as -
          "file:///c:/EventVideos/EventVideo_" + {DataTable1.EventID} + ".avi" .
    EventID is the field of dataset which has ID's (like 0, 1, 2,  3, 4 etc) of all resulted events. It is of a String data type.
         Now when I export, my report as .xls, .rtf, .doc, I can open the avi files. When I bring cursor on this Text Object, cursor get change to Hand and after click on it avi file start to play.
         But if I export it as .pdf, it does not contain the link for avi files. When I bring cursor on this Text Object , it does not change to Hand, and after click on it nothing happens. No video play.
    I stick to this problem. What should be done in this case?

    Taken from CR Help File:
    "PDF format is a page-based format. The exported documents are intended for printing and redistribution. PDF format will export both layout and formatting in a manner that is consistent with how the report looks on the Preview tab. PDF format embeds the TrueType fonts that appear in the document. (Non-TrueType fonts are not supported.) This export format does not support Microsoft font-linking technologyu2014which is used to provide support for some extended character sets such as Chinese HKCS. Therefore, the fonts used in the report must contain all of the required glyphs. These URI types are supported for hyperlinks: "http:", "https:" and "mailto:".
    Therefore your hyperlink is not working as u are using File type when cr only supports http https and mailto uri types

  • Need to export OBIEE report in native excel format

    Dear All,
    Apologies if this issue has been discussed earlier in this forum. I am posting this afresh since I could not find a proper thread pertaining to this problem.
    Here is a snapshot of my issue:-
    While exporting a report in excel this exports this in mhtml format instead of native excel. As a result, the generated files are way bigger than expected and every day we are receiving multiple complaints from the end users. We tried to fix this by changing the messages files as mentioned in few blogs but could not make this work. Our current reporting system is on 11.1.1.6.
    In some of the online blogs I read that this issue is supposed to be resolved in 11.1.1.7. Can any one please confirm if this is indeed the case? Also, if any one can advise of any other resolutions it would be really helpful.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards

    Vbez1,
    Thanks for your response.
    The way we are working at the moment is :-
    1. Ask users to download in .csv if they just need raw data
    2. While storing/sending the .xls files we have asked them to save the file as a excel workbook
    However no workaround could be achieved for the reports sent as excels by agents(clogging spaced in user's mailboxes) or actual download volume of the formatted excel reports (excel taking an awfully long time to open the files).
    As you mentioned, I heard that this issue was fixed on 11.1.1.7. Since this version is released for more than a quarter now, I wondered if someone out there can confirm that this has happened really.
    Regards,
    Sudarshana

  • Problem to export a report (to PDF) after converting my reports to CR13

    I have an old project with reports developped using Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2003 (.NET 1.1). I want to convert them so I can now use Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2010 (with .NET 3.5).

    Is someone have an idea of what's wrong!
    Thanks!
    Max.

    The most common cause of this problem is having very large detailed images, or lots and lots of images in your report. The Crystal Report engine changed a lot from 9.1 to 13. The big change was from 9.1 to 10 though when we started using the RAS InProc engine.
    The Crystal reporting engine is not efficient at handling the images and it can cause memory issues like you are seeing. As a test, try suppressing the images that show up frequently in your report and retry your export. If it works you'll have your answer and you'll need a new creative way to design your report without so many images.

  • Vista/Adobe 9/sql image Error in Crystal Report:Failed to Export the Report

    When I try to export my Crystal Report (v2008) from a Vista machine (using Crystal RDC export methods) as a PDF, I get the following error:
    Error in Crystal Report:  Failed to export the report.
    This only happens when a particular subreport (that contains a sql image) prints (based on an input parameter).  We have other subreports (within this same report) that print a sql image just fine.  But, when this subreport prints, the above error appears.
    I can run the same report on an XP machine without error.
    Exportmodeller.dll and crtsv.dll are both installed and registered to the
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Business Objects\3.0\bin folder
    I have tried opening the report, removing the image, and then adding it back in again to the subreport.
    Still receive the same error.

    Don,
    Can you please clarify?
    Our VB6 app that uses Crystal XI RDC runtime components.  Our Crystal reports are edited in CR2008 SP1 developer edition (not through the VB.NET embedded report designer).  We have deployed the CRXIRelease 2 runtime components (via the merge module) to our client machines in order to execute the RDC.
    We can print/preview/export to excel, but the pdf creation is failing with this error.
    We are only using the RDC (which we know is no longer supported) because of huge issues with the Crystal for .NET methods we are having with our customers (I have an active case for this issue).  Therefore, we have to rollback our .NET product and revert to the RDC code.
    Vista is failing to create a PDF for a report developed in the CR2008 SP1 developer edition when using the RDC.
    When you say  "Also, those old dll's will not work in CR 2008. Last patches will give you the option to export to Excel in Legacy mode. We built it into our export dll.", what do you mean by "will not work in CR2008"?
    Thank you

  • Strange caching error in exporting a report to csv (AppEx v2.0)

    We have just upgraded to v2.0. I am experiencing a problem exporting a report to a csv file. I don't recall this problem in v1.6.
    What happens is that what gets exported is not the report that is on the screen.
    I have a report that employs a simple on-screen filter to vary the content of the report. So, for example, to begin with I select Company A. The report for Company A is displayed correctly, but when I click the Export button the csv file contains just the message "no data found". So I close the csv file and select Company B in the report filter. The report for Company B is displayed correctly. When I click the Export button the csv file shows the report for Company A. And so on...
    I'm guessing that this is some kind of obscure caching problem. Does anybody have any thoughts on this?

    This looks like a problem I heard many times before. I have had it as well in my reports.
    If you are using page items to filter your report, you have to make sure you use a
    computation for your items of type:
    - select list
    - radio button
    - checkbox
    - multi select list
    and compute your items on load - before header. This means to set the items to a kind
    of a default value they should have at the start. Using default values within the item
    properties will not do the work. Once you set it up like that, you will have no problems
    exporting your .csv.
    One more thing. Exporting .csv is a standard feature of the ApEx reports. If you would
    like to export directly into excel, without having to save the file and then care about
    how to get it into different versions of excel, you might want to try out my package
    for a direct export to excel. You will find it here for both - ApEx and XE:
