Although cool regarding the "MAC OS 10.5" part, I guess regarding the "sleepycat" piece that you are refering to Berkeley DB XML functionality. Try that OTN forum for answers...

if I try to import an XML with images on the Mac, InDesign will not allow me to use the tilde '~' for the users home directory. I.e. paths like this cannot be handled:

  • XML Error on Mac.

I've tried to google this error, but I am having a hard time
    finding a
    solution for this problem.
Whenever I load Fireworks 8.0.0.777, on the top left corner
    of the splash
page I get an error messege:
"Problem Loading the content XML". Followed by "You've
    requested a language
('en') which does not have any available content."
Any suggestions on how to solve this issue would be greatly
    appreciated!

Thanks for your reply, I'm glad I am not the only one with
    this problem.
True enough, Fireworks works fine with out any additional
    errors, but being
a former windows user and making a leap of faith to the mac
    side and
investing a bit of money, I am a bit dissapointed to
    encounter this issue
with out any leads of a fix.
Still a happy mac user, I will keep you posted if a fix ever
    comes up.

  • Safari XML parsing broken (Mac, Windows, & iPhone)

Safari (Mac, Windows, & iPhone), does not appear to properly support XML DOM parsing.
I am trying to write a javascript script to parse an XML file and display some of its contents in the HTML.
Perfect example that works for IE 6+, FF, Opera, but not Safari:
    http://www.w3schools.com/dom/tryit.asp?filename=noteparsertestcrossbrowser
Here are the Safari versions I've tried:
    Windows (3.0.3)
    Mac (2.0.4)
iPhone (whatever version comes on first version)
    I desperately need a solution/work-around.
    Thank you.

safari doesn't support the xml document.load function. what about using xmlhttprequest?

  • Last night's update causing XML issues with MAC and MS Word

I am running Snow Leopard on a MAC. Last night Firefox installed an update, and the software I use for work no longer works with Firefox. I use a custom built web app that uses XML code to take web created info and compile into a Word document. Until this latest update, the issue had been when creating the Word doc, extra XML code was being written for images causing them to show as blank in the Word document. Now, the document is being created but not with a .doc extension. I had been in contact with Microsoft about the first problem with no resolution. They were able to duplicate the problem. The first problem only happens on a MAC and is not specific to operating system. This new problem is only happening with Firefox, not Safari, and started today after the last update.

    HI,
If you post a crash report, perhaps we can help.
If Safari has just crashed, press the Report button on the CrashReporter dialog box to view the crash information.
Now copy/paste the entire contents of the Crash Reporter window into your reply here. If the crash report dialog does not appear or the crash is hard to reproduce, crash logs can be retrieved from the ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter> folder.
You may have Safari third party plugins that were compatible with your previous version of Safari but not Safari 5.0.1. It's the responsibility of third party developers to update their software, not Apple.
Follow the instructions here. Safari: Add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues
If indeed you had third party add-ons installed and Safari still crashes, then post a crash report.

  • Where is "adobe bridge keywords.xml" located on mac (using CS5)?

I just installed Photoshop to work from home, and I'm trying to set up my (rather extensive) keywords list. Other discussions have identified the place for this file as '~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Bridge CS5' but that directory does not exist for me - the Adobe directory is missing. There is a 'Bridge CS5.1 Extensions' directory, but there is no place within it for this file.
Does anyone know where I should put this file?
    Thanks!

'~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Bridge CS5' but that directory does not exist for me - the Adobe directory is missing. There is a 'Bridge CS5.1 Extensions' directory, but there is no place within it for this file.
You are looking in the wrong library, that file is in the system library at root lever. You have to look in your user account library (the ~ means your 'user name').
Some other observations, You say you have CS5 but Bridge CS5.1 Extensions points to CS5.5. Not a big deal but that means you should also have a Bridge CS5.1 folder in the App support at user level.
(It is a bit of a mix up with all different versions of apps in the CS suite. PS is at number 12 and comes with CS5. Bridge is at version 4 in CS5. They made an update for the whole Adobe suite and called it CS5.5. Inhere PS 12.1 and Bridge 4.1. The call some parts CS5.1. Hope you still with me here... :-0 )
And I suspect that you are already on OSX 10.7 Lion and that means by default your user library is hidden. To show it can be done in multiple ways, fastest way is to google on user library and OSX lion

  • How to open and XML file?

Does anyone have a way on Mac to open an XML file for viewing. This can be done with WIN Excel and XML toolkit but doesn't exist for Mac Excel in Office 2008. I can open with TextEdit but would like to see the info with headers and cells without all the XML coding. Numbers 09 can't open it at all.

Numbers uses XML to build the description of the documents but it's not an XML editor.
A simple search in Google with the intricate key string xml editor AND mac return numerous interesting links.

  • Acrobat 9.1  Mac How do you change from Radio buttons to Check boxes?

I have a DMV Form I Downloaded and had to convert to PS then back to PDF (written originally on PC Acrobat was in XML format).
So on new form, I am able to add fields. I used the the Forms manager to automatically create the fields. Fields that were made Radio Buttons should have been Check boxes. How do change the Radio buttons to check boxes. There are a lot of them and I don't wish to have to re-key them in.
    Suggestions?

Well when I click on the box it shows a Check mark in the box. That exactly what I need because in the instructions it requires a Check mark in each of the check boxes. Normally the Med form is sent as a paper copy from DMV every two years.
Also another Tip. A PDF that has XML Content. (PC Acrobat Version).
If you want a usable PDF on Mac and get rid of the XML do the following:
Open the XML Based PDF on Mac Acrobat 9.X .
Now choose export and save as Postscript File (.ps).
Now locate and drop on Distiller 9.X.
When PDF created will be a Pristine exact replica of the XML file except Mac Acrobat can edit and create forms with it.

  • ITunes Migration - Windows to Mac

I just bought my MacBook Pro and could not be happier! I have a problem with iTunes that seems like it should be very easy to resolve...
I have read several Internet posts and can not find a fix. I was able to migrate all the iTunes information from Windows to Mac, but I cannot play any of the files because of the differences in the way both OS's view paths (directory structures).
I am using an external USB hard drive to store my .mp3's. This worked great in Winows, but I cannot seem to find a way to point the Mac iTunes installation to this external drive. Everything I have tried has failed, including modifying the .xml files in the iTunes directory on the Mac.
Some posts advise the Mac iTunes installation does not give users the ability to use an external hard drive and forces all iTunes music to be stored locally on the Macintosh HD. I cannot believe Apple would be this stupid. Say, "It ain't so..."
Does anyone know how to solve this problem? Is it possible to modify the Library .xml file with Mac entries so it looks to the external drive for my music files?

I need to do it the hard way.
    Any reason why?
File -> Add to library will work just fine.
Make sure to change the location of the iTunes folder first.
Can you take the example I provided above and give me an example of a valid path to an external drive?
    Old =
    <key>Location</key><string>file://localhost/E:/User/My%20Music/iTunes%20Music/Ryan%20Shupe%20&%20the%20Rubb erband/Dream%20Big/Ryan%20Shupe%20&%20The%20Rubberband%20-%20Dream%20Big%20-%200 6%20-%20Ambush%20%5BInstrumental%5D.mp3</string>
You only need to change the beginning of the path to the main folder where your music is.
    Search for
    *<key>Location</key><string>file://localhost/E:/User/My%20Music/iTunes%20Music/*
    and replace with
    *<key>Location</key><string>file://localhost/Volumes/Other%20Drive/iTunes%20Music/*
What you are replacing with is the path to your external, not what I typed.
%20 is simply a space in the path/filename.
As above, your music would be on the external drive named *Other Drive* in the folder *iTunes music*.

  • Import iTunes Library, but not files from PC to Mac - files are on extHDD

    Hi everyone.
I have bought a Macbook Pro to replace my old PC. All my music-files are on a NAS-server.
Now I need to move my PC iTunes-library-file (with covers and playlists) to the Macbook, but how?
I have copypasted the library.xml to the mac, but can't figure out how to chane the path in the XML-file.
Is there a piece of software, that does the trick easily?
    Regards
    Jan

    Hi Jan,
I have the similar situation. Got a new Mac and transferring iTunes library to the new Mac. The iTunes is in the external drive. But it sees iTunes (10.1) didn't recognize the XML file while I choose "Add to Library"
What I did was: I change the iTunes library (library.xml) to the external drive. Then I use Import Playlist feature. My library was importing along with the play count and the rating.
Then I import the real playlist file to finalize all import.
I hope it works for you if you haven't fixed it.

  • Migrating from Windows to Mac

I am migrating Adobe Audition from a Windows machine to a Mac.
Is there any way of importing my Application Settings from a Windows based machine to a Mac?
The file is an XML and the Mac just will not even locate the file ..... let alone import it.
    Any assistance gratefully received.

Now, when I rip new CD's, I'll have music in two places, which is what I was trying to avoid.
If you use Max (the best ripper/encoder for OS X), you can specify exactly where your output files go, use any iTunes encoder, and have the files automatically added to your iTunes library without copying anything to your internal hard drive as long as the "Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library" checkbox is unselected in iTunes > Preferences > Advanced > General.

  • Replicating iTunes library on Mac while in Windows (Boot Camp)

I dual-boot Windows 7 on my MacBook, and have iTunes 9 installed in both. Since I'm also using Snow Leopard, I have access to all my iTunes media (on the Mac side) while in Windows.
My question is: How do I replicate (and, ideally, sync) my Mac's iTunes library--with all its playlists, rating info, podcast subscriptions, etc., etc.--in the Windows version, without copying any media files?
Simply copying the .xml files from Mac to Windows won't work, because iTunes for Windows doesn't recognize these as iTunes libraries--it's asking for .itl files.
Importing the files into iTunes for Windows (in a new library) works OK, but the result is a media mish-mash. In particular, the two versions appear to handle iTunesU subscriptions, music videos and TV shows differently.

You need to convert your iTunes library to the new .itdb format first. While in the Mac OS, launch iTunes, then go to File->Library->Organize Library... In the dialog box, check the "Upgrade to iTunes Media organization" checkbox, then click OK. Depending on the size of your library, this may take some time.
Once this is done, reboot into Windows, launch iTunes, and then (in Preferences) choose your iTunes Media library on your Mac OS X partition (in Windows, this should be something like D:\Users\<username>\Music\iTunes\iTunes Library).

  • How do I transfer playlists and ratings from a mac to pc?

Using home sharing, I transferred my itunes library from my macbook to my windows 7 pc. I noticed my ratings and playlists weren't transferred. I'm wondering if I can take the files itunes library and itunes library.xml from my mac to my pc to fix this problem.

Copy the entire iTunes media folder from the macbook to the pc.
Using homesharing to transfer files makes no logical sense, as you have seen, it does not transfer playlists, ratings,  or play counts.
