XML Encoding error
Hi,
It appears that your XML is really encoded in ISO-8859-1, because you say that parses correctly (and then you get correct output, I guess). But apparently the XML doesn't have a prolog that declares that encoding, so your parser assumes it's encoded in UTF-8. That's the default for documents that don't declare their encoding.
So get those documents fixed so they declare their encoding correctly. Or get them fixed so they are encoded in UTF-8. Either will solve your problem. If it's this FWTools thing that's generating these malformed documents, file a bug report with them.

(IDATA is the variable where we see the chinesse text)It will not give you any effect to set up encoding because this function module sets its own encoding inside:
encoding = pixml->create_encoding( character_set = 'UTF-8' byte_order = 0 ).
Renderer is created by the kernel:
by kernel module abkm_iXML_CreateRenderer.
Something may be wrong with the installation. -
Java Mapping XML Encoding Error.
Hi All,
I hav an IDoc XML coming out of R/3 whose encoding technique is UTF-8. I hav to change it to ISO-8859-1 before parsing the xml in the java mapping program. i have seen this problem repeating among many people but i cud not find any solution on the SDN. Can any one help me out in this regard?

I am trying to map a collection of information to a partnerlink's input variable, using a for-each xsl node in the transformation, however I receive this error during my testing:
Target XML is invalid for the target schema.

At first I thought this was an issue related to the database adapter, now I'm thinking it has to do with the collection or the xsd? But we modled the xsd after the OrderBooking PO xsd...

XML-23002: (Error) internal xpath error while calling template
Hi,
I have used call-template named Chemloop in my xslt in the following way as attached in the xsl file. But when I am testing this xsl file through the bpel transformation, getting the error XML-23002: (Error) internal xpath error. Using this xslt I am converting a flat file into a xml file. My xslt except the call template part is working fine. Please suggest me if I m doing anything wrong.

XML validation error while parsing MXI Manifest

I have created an hybrid extension for Photoshop. I want to upload my extension on Adobe Exchange. during the upload process I get an error,

2. Can I display an image (png) in CDATA under description tag? If yes, then can you please guide me how can I do so?
3. As suggested in tech notes MXI file must include UTF-8 encoding as header (<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>). The MXI I am using does not have this header. Do I need to include the header?

UTF-8 Encoding errors during nightly batch runs
My boss recently tasked me with researching (and hopefully resolving) why our XML frequently has UTF-8 encoding errors.
I've been in the IS world for less than a year now so please bear with me when it comes to terms, data flow, etc.
Overview:
Our Oracle DB spits out XML for the nightly batch runs into a file location, lets say C:\xPression\CustomerData\Certificate.xml. The XML is in Courier New font but some characters make their way into the XML but arent supported. The big one is the elongated ' - ' character. Just one instance of this and the entire XML fails.
When the batch job is run sometimes there are encoding errors (¿, ¡, -, etc) and every morning I have to come in, finding the invalid character, fix it and have the job re-run.
I want to know if there's a way so that the XML that comes out is always in the Courier New font, or is there a way to convert it.I want to know if there's a way so that the XML that comes out is always in the Courier New font, or is there a way to convert it.
First thing first, an XML file is a text file, it doesn't have a "font" but an encoding.
The font is the graphical representation of characters and it is related to whatever client tool you're using to view the content, not to the content itself.
That being said, a lot of fonts do not support the full range of unicode characters so you may get replacement characters in some case.
We're missing some information to provide an answer :
- what's the database version?
- what's the character set of the database?
- how are you generating and writing the XML to the file ? UTL_FILE, dbms_xslprocessor, dbms_xmldom?
If the file is generated using UTF-8 encoding then the issue might just be that you're not using an UTF-8-enable editor. -

HI all,
we try to post an XML message (cXML invoice) to a receiver but it doesn´t work.
We use a communication channel "http-destination" where we configure content-type "text/xml" together with XML encoding "UTF-8".
The configured URL works fine and can be tested in SM59.
The XML payload itself has a declaration <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
but the strange thing that happens is that all these declarations are being ignored and instead US-ASCII is used. Which leads to an error due to some special german characters within the contents of the XML (e.g. ä, ö, etc.).
Does anybody of you know how I can achieve that the pre-set UTF-8 will be used as encoding type???

I am having problem with the line <!DOCTYPE cXML SYSTEM "http://xml.cXML.org/schemas/cXML/1.2.014/InvoiceDetail.dtd"> - when the payload is having this line XI is not accepting the message.

Apparently, some namespaces are stripped.
This appears to happen during the deploy (using ant), because the version in the generated jar file is already missing the namespaces.
The BPEL processes appear to work fine though.
Why is this happening and how can I prevent these errors?I've fiddled around with the file composite.xml and found the following workaround:
If I change the start of the file to:

How to set the Xml Encoding ISO-8859-1 to Transformer or DOMSource
I have a xml string and it already contains an xml declaration with encoding="ISO-8859-1". (In my real product, since some of the element/attribute value contains a Spanish character, I need to use this encoding instead of UTF-8.) Also, in my program, I need to add more attributes or manipulate the xml string dynamically, so I create a DOM Document object for that. And, then, I use Transformer to convert this Document to a stream.
My problme is: Firstly, once converted through the Transformer, the xml encoding changed to default UTF-8, Secondly, I wanted to check whether the DOM Document created with the xml string maintains the Xml Encoding of ISO-8859-1 or not. So, I called Document.getXmlEncoding(), but it is throwing a runtime error - unknown method.
Is there any way I can maintain the original Xml Encoding of ISO-8859-1 when I use either the DOMSource or Transformer? I am using JDK1.5.0-12.
Following is my sample program you can use.
I would appreciate any help, because so far, I cannot find any answer to this using the JDK documentation at all.

About the UTF-8 and Spanish charaters, I think you are right. It looks like there can be many factors involved on this subject though - for example, the real character sets used to create an xml document, and the xml encoding information declared will matter. The special character I had a trouble was u00F3, and somehow, I found out that Sax Parser or even Document Builder parser does not like this character when encoding is set to "UTF-8" in the Xml document. My sample program below may not be a perfect example, but if you replaces ISO-8859-1 with UTF-8, and not setting the encoding property to the transfermer, you may notice that the special character in my example is broken in Test1 and Test2. In my sample, I decided to use ByteArrayInputStream instead of StringBufferInpuptStream because the documentation says StringBufferInputStream may have a problem with converting characters into bytes.

In a BPEL service I am getting this error while invoking a DB2 Stored procedure with Strong XSD. I am using assign to copy the input parameter to the input parameters of Stored procedure.

The JDBC sender adapter returns the rows selected from the database in the follwoing format.

This error occurs , when the source datatype you have created for the JDBC adapter does not match with this format. I would suggest that you check the source format along with the occurence of your field.

Yet, JAXB still thinks I'm doing UTF-8 here! Did I forget something?

I am using inDesign to create epub ebooks, but stumbling over inserting hyperlinks. Regular hyperlinks to straightforward URLs work OK, but if I add a link to Google maps, like this one...

Some ebook readers refuse to load the book, reporting XML parsing error: not well-formed. The red underline points to the second equals symbol. Adobe Digital Editions loads the book, but the hyperlink and everything following it are not displayed.
I have searched for help about this, and gather that XML does not like equals signs. I have tried using percent encoding (%3D) for the second equals sign, but iD appears to insert "25" after the % sign. I even tried using percent encoding for all the reserved characers in the URL (ie :/=@,) but nothing I do seems to fix the problem.
I would really appreciate some help with this. I've run out of ideas.In fact, I don't use XML DB and what I want to do is just to load XML file into the relational table and some parts of whole XML file will be inserted into the CLOB in the table.Why wouldn't you want to use XML DB in 10gR2 to handle XML? I didn't know there was another way. Anyway, you might want to ask this question in this forum.
