XML file as datasource

Hi All
I want to read an xml file which contains all the requried data for presentation purposes. Is there any in which this file can be used a datasource and we can query this file to create different reports.
From [this|Re: Can XML files be used for data?; thread, it seems that it is possible through JDBC XML drivers. Has anyone used this concept before..??
Also, we are using NW2004s and accordingly, the J2EE engine supports only 1.x or 2.0 compliant JDBC drivers only.
Please suggest as to how to implement this solution.
Thanks
Deepak

Hi Luis
Thanks for the reply.
The XML file that I have is of the following structure:
<UserDetails>
    <UserInfo>
        <FirstName>fsdfsdfs</Firstname>
        <LastName>dfdsfsd</LastName>
    </UserInfo>
    <UserInfo>
        <FirstName>gdfgdgd</Firstname>
        <LastName>dfgdfgd</LastName>
    </UserInfo>
<UserDetails>
With respect to the above structure, can you please give some technical implementation suggestions as to how your suggestion can be implemented..?? (Like return types in web services, input parameters OR if I have to use Stored Procedures.. how should i go about that..)
Thanks
Deepak

  • XML File as Datasource -  The table is not found in file

    Hi,
    I am trying to use a xml file as datasource and want to map those columns to the existing DWH. Actually, it is additional data which should be combined with the existing DWH data. Therefore I am using the fragmentation option.
    I did it already on my privat pc and it works, but as soon as I implement it to the DEV environment it doesn' t work at all :( I am getting the following error:
    Status: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 64002] The table is not found in file C:\Ist.xml loaded. (HY000)
    Could somebody help me??
    Thanks

    If you changed environments make sure that the XML file actually exists in the location specified at C:\ist.xml.
    Also be sure that the information in the properties section of the XML data source match your DEV environment. If you used any session variables be sure that you have also modified those in the DEV environment to reflect the DEV environment.
    Did you switch from a same OS environment, i.e.: Linux to Linux or Windows to Windows? Or did you go from a Windows to Linux OS?

  • How to generate an xml file from a soapbody

    i'm trying to use SOAPMESSAGE from a webservice as a Datasource for my JasperReport, I'm thinking of doing it as getting the SOAPBody and saving it as xml file and setting that xml file as datasource to my JasperReport. My problem is how will a get the SOAPBody and save it as an xml file? or is there other way to make SOAP from webservice as a datasource for my Jasperreport?
    Thanks in advance for your help.

    Dear All,
    Indeed the post by RamJaddu did not answer the question. I am having the same issue: I have been provided an .xsd file which contains a data schema, and I have all of the necessary
    data in a .mdf file in order to create the required .xml file. Having queried SQL Server and received my data in "myDataSet" I can use C# to create the .xml ignoring the schema using
    string strSchemaFile = @"F:\Documents\UserCost\VictorianDataCollection\VCDCSchema_v2.xsd";
    string strXmlFile = "testXmlExport.xml";
    myDataSet.WriteXmlSchema(strSchemaFile);
    myDataSet.WriteXml(strXmlFile, XmlWriteMode.IgnoreSchema);
    but how do I export the .xml file so that is conforms with the .xsd format?
    If any of you have worked this out the answer would be most appreciated.
    All the best,
    Nick

  • When to use XML file Datasource

    Hi,
    I would like to know under what scenario we have to use the XML file as a datasource?
    Is it possibe to extract data from a email.
    The client is getting data in email everyday and is it possible to upload this data directly from the email.
    or do i have to convert this data in the form of  a .csv flat file and upload.
    please give an idea if i can use the XML file upload facility provided in BI, whether i can use this in my
    scenario.

  • Modify bunch of datasources by modifying xml file directly?

    I have ten datasources on my laptop domain that I need to change to point to a different environment. it would really be nice if I could just bring down the server, modify a couple elements in each of the "*-jdbc.xml" files in the config tree and restart the server. I tried changing one one of them this way, and I was able to test the connection from the admin console, so I think this works. The one quirk is that I entered the cleartext password in the "password-encrypted" element. I figured this would work like the "boot.properties" file and encrypt it after startup, and re-save the file, but it did not. I don't care about the cleartext password, as it's not a production database, I just want to make sure this should work.

    In principal, if you change the config file(s) in the same way WLS would do it, it should work the same. However,
    encrypted bits aren't going to work that way. There may be a way to allow the password to remain unencrypted
    so check the docs. You can try just adding the password=XXXX to the list of dirver properties, and hope that
    gets set after any encrypted one...

  • Send XML file to Webservie datasource without XI - Urgent

    Hi,
    Can anyone send me the JAVA or .Net code to send the XML file to Webservice data source.
    I have tested it with Navigator test pagae and it works fine.
    Kindly send me the piece of code to trigger the webservice,since i am not good at JAVA.
    Thanks,
    Arvind

    Adding on to the previous post...Is it necessary to have synchronous messaging using plain HTTP adapter?? Won't asynchronous messaging work...I guess I could be right or wrong 'cos in my case XI does not do the routing to the final destination which is being handled by another tool...XI inmy case just dumps the payload to the 3rd part...
      Guys correct me if I am wrong...

  • Mutiple mapping XML files for one datasource

    One of our projects raised the following question. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    "Can we have mutiple ToplinkMappings.xml files for one database? The reason we are looking at it is, our toplinkMappings.xml file size is keep growing in size(right now 2.2MB), we are getting into issues while comparing with the previous versions. The PVCS diff tool and beyond compare tools are not able to interpret the corresponding blocks of code on both the versions properly."
    Haiwei

    Hi Haiwei,
    Yes, you can have multiple deployment.xml files in a session. Take a look at Configuring Multiple Mapping Projects.

  • How can I get the context-parm from a web.xml file using struts?

    Hello:
    I need get the context-param from the web.xml file of my web project using struts. I want configurate the jdbc datasource connection pooling here. For example:
    <context-param>
    <param-name>datasource</param-name>
    <param-value>jdbc/formacion</param-value>
    <description>Jdbc datasource</description>
    </context-param>
    and then from any Action class get this parameter.
    Similar using a simple server can be:
    /** Initiates new XServlet */
    public void init(ServletConfig config) throws ServletException {
              for (Enumeration e = config.getInitParameterNames(); e.hasMoreElements();) {
                   System.out.println(e.nextElement());
              super.init(config);
              String str = config.getInitParameter("datasource");
              System.out.println(str);
         public void doPost(HttpServletRequest req, HttpServletResponse res)
              throws ServletException, IOException {
              // res.setContentType( );
              System.out.println("Got post request in XServlet");
              PrintWriter out = res.getWriter();
              out.println("nada");
              out.flush();
              out.close();
    but only this works for init-params, if I use
    <servlet>
         <servlet-name>MyServlet</servlet-name>
         <display-name>MyServlet</display-name>
         <servlet-class>myExamples.servlet.MyServlet</servlet-class>
         <init-param>
         <param-name>datasource</param-name>
         <param-value>jdbc/formacion</param-value>
    </init-param>
    </servlet>
    inside my web.xml. I need something similar, but using struts inside the action class for that I can get the context-params and call my database.
    Thank you

    To get context parameters from your web.xml file you can simply get the ActionServlet object from an implementing action object class. In the perform (or execute) method make the following call.
    ServletContext context = getServlet().getServletContext();
    String tempContextVar =
    context.getInitParameter("<your context param >");

  • Reading a XML File from server in BI Publisher

    Hi All,
    Can any one help me how i can get the XML file from server to BI Publisher using data source.
    The file should transfer directly to BI Publisher with out storing it in any local directory in local system.
    Thank you
    Shalini.

    Shalini
    Do you mean that you have another system that is going to serve up the XML data and you want BIP to be able to pick it up as a data source ?
    Couple of options:
    1, If the XML filename can remain static you can use the 'XML File' datasource. You need to set up a directory on the server and then maybe create a dummy XML file to start with upon which you can build a report. Then have your external data generator put the file into that directory and then schedule the report so that BIP will pick and report.
    2. IS the data generator accessible via HTTP or web service - BIP supports those too.
    3. More complex but with a little effort you can create a servlet that will pick up the file from a directory and serve it up to BIP on demand - Im going to write about this on the blog this week

  • How to update XML file from the program

    i am new in abap , and i have the following issue,so plz anyone who knows how to do it
    Background :
    An XML file is used as the datasource for a Flex Application. From time to time this requires updating with new staff details.
    i have already saved the xml file in the c drive with the name C:\AdvAC\AC1\bin-debug\assets\staff
    Requirement :  Write a Dialog transaction with the following text input fields.
    Reference Indicator.     (Char10)
    Staff No          (NUMC, Length 5)
    Name               (Char50)
    Room               (Numc, length 3)
    Phone               (Numc Length 7)
    Mail               (char30)
    in screen 100
    The transaction should also have an u201CUpdate Fileu201D button, which when pressed :
    1) Loads the file C:\AdvAC\AC1\bin-debug\assets \ into an ITAB.
    2) Inserts the data into the ITAB using the following XML format.
    <staff>
    <ref_ind> Reference Indicator.</ref_ind>
    <staff_no> Staff No </staff_no>
    <name> Name </name>
    <room> Room </room>
    <phone> Phone </phone>
    <mail> Mail </mail>
    </staff>
    all should be inside  <allstaff> </allstaff> tagsu2026.
    Writes the ITAB back to the file.
    thanx all

    this is what i have done but i dont know how to do the rest. i will apprecite any help from u.

    I am mentioning only the database namein the xml file like-

    You need to give the InitialContext some properties, there's no magical way it'll configure itself (outside of a Java EE container).If you lookup a URL with a known protocol, e.g. ldap: or in this case java:, it will configure itself in any environment that has a factory for the protocol.Is this a recent change? Last time I was accessing Ldap, it did require me to specify the com.sun.jndi.ldap.LdapCtxFactory separately.
