XML Forms: Distinct Editing

Hi all!
I have a requirement to create a XML Forms App which works as a Q&A App. So, the end user creates the XML Form with a question, and the admin answers the question by editing the XML Form. The problem is that the same person that creates the question CANNOT enter the answer too, so using the same Edit form for both Admin and User is not feasible.
Is there a way to achieve this behaviour? Can i show one Edit form to the End User and another with extra fields to the Admin?
Any help is appreciated. Also, if you have a suggestion for this requirement other than XML Forms or the one i stated above, please share!

Hi,
I had the same problem. You can solve it working with resource type.
When you create a form, it has associated a resource type. The idea is working with two forms, one of them is for question and the other is for answer.
Once the user to ask a question and press save botton, you must replace resource type by the answer form.
You have to use two diferent layout set. Remember that each layout set uses collection renderer, in these collection you must filter by resource type.
Each one of theses layout set must be assigned in your km navigation iview.
In short:
You have two user A and Q.
Q User, to ask a question to do that this user has a km navigation iview with a specific layout set. This layout allow him to create a question but once the form is saved as its resource type is changed disappeard.
A user, answer questions, to do that use other km navigation iview with other layout set. As Q user change resource type, A user sees a new question.

Now I'm confused,what do you mean with create new data? Are users editing existing documents
(as if they go to a document example.xml > edit) or they are creating new documents (as if they go
on folder > new > forms)?
The problem is, in both cases a user would need read/write permissions.
The normal flow content (data) is created in KM is as follows:
1. user is assigned to a role
2. role contains KM Navigation iView
3. KM Navigation iView executes com.sap.km.cm.navigation component
4. user chooses New > Form UI command (edit_xml_forms)
5. edit_xml_forms UI command executes its code (com.sapportals.wcm.rendering.uicommand.cm.UIXMLFormsCreateCommand) and open xml edit for the user
6. user fill the form and click Save, form is created into folder
For what I understood so far, your requirement basically asks you to go directly to step 5, it is
possible to pass a URL that goes directly to step 5, the UI command button, but if you do that
you won't have a context, so chances that it will work are slim, since a context is required to
fill the parameters asked by the app (like folder, user, permissions, etc). Even though, in some cases you can
still pass the parameters via post in the URL but you must know which service/parameters the
app asks for it, also a URL is static...
That was the create scenario, I think it's more cons than pros, users would still be
able to bypass the URL iView created for that, I'd suggest evaluating again if it's really
a problem having users access cm to manage data

Hi,
In XML Form
1) Edit form is used for designing the user interface.
2) Show form is used for displaying the xml form to the end user
3) RenderListItem is used for rendering the xml form into a small description like 1News1, 2news2 etc..
    Here you need to display only the heading of the xml form
After you create the xml form
Create Layout set where you need to give the proerties like xml renderer form , no of items to display etc...

External link in xml forms

Hi,
I have created a customized xml forms with Edit,RenderListItem and show forms. I created a Dataschema with Datatype "url" and added in the RenderListItem,Show.But when i execute, it always gives an error and most importantly i have changed the Javascript open_url function in the xsl file with url instead of tmpurl in the "window.open" .
The error comes only for the RenderListItem and for Show form, it works fine after changing the Javascript.

Xml form...editing on role based

There is no "detailed documentation" (there is in the meantime, my slides from TechEd 2006; but these are not public, I think). Anyhow, you can find a short description more than one time here in the forum, I'll repeat it once again:
Implement an AbstractPortalComponent, implement an empty doContent method, overwrite doOnNodeReady, and at the end of this method call <i>request.redirect(...)</i> with the navigation component (com.sap.km.cm.navigation, you can get this from the KM URLGenerator) as the new target, passing the component parameters as URL parameter (so, among others, "rndLayoutSet=YourLayoutSet1" or the second, dependent on the role the user has got, which is the logic to be implemented in your method). The isloation level of the iView built out of this component must be URL isolated (otherwise the redirect does not work).

XML Forms editing/showing with 2 different edit/show forms

does anybody know how to set xml forms to achieve the possibility to edit one created news with 2 different forms, based for example on the layout set used?
any hint would be appreciated.

Hi Marco,
If I understood your problem you need that a xml file to be read by another form.
There is a property called: resouce type (metadata, belong to system).
When you save your xml file (from form) this property is setted by the system. Using this value the system knows how to open this file.
If you need to pass this information (xml file)among differents forms, in your forms you can add a combo box in which you set up this property. When you change this value of this property (name of resource type the other form)you carry out that this xml file to be read for other form.
The truth is different forms, use differents resource type, therefore these forms can not,simultaneously,read the same xml file.
Also, if you create your own layout set, within collection renederer you can filter by resource type.

Unable to edit the content of an XML form

Hello Experts,
I am facing a weird issue after updating my XML form.
Earlier scenario :
We were displaying only the Title of the news along with the content.
New scenario :
We had to display image also along with the title and content of the news.
Changes i did :
I have updated my XML form with adding an Image UI in the XML form.
Issue :
After adding the image UI and generating the project in the content part it is giving a message as in the image below.
Due to this message as "Loading content please wait" i am not able to save the content of the news due to which i am getting dump on the screen.
Please help.
Its an urgent issue.

Is the portal 7.3? can you let us know the version? Trigger 5-6 thread dumps with 30 secs interval each for your server when you reproduce the issue.

XML form in not getting displayed in the option while assigning

Hello Experts,
I have created a XML form and now assigning it to a folder. While assigning Folder>new>forms> .. here I can see other forms but not the new one which I have recently created. Please let me know I can assign the newly created form to the folder.

Please check for the Form Based Publishing for your KM folder
System Administration-->System Configuration >Knowledge Management->Form Based Pulishing>Forms Availability>Folder Settings check for the Forms to include and Exclude for your folder path. In this you can include or Exclude forms which you form by adding the XML form ID.

How can i convert the HTML information in XML form to a PDF?

On the tool bar you have an option "Browser" which is next to "HTML Editor" .
You know that for using these elements wo have to map them with Data Schema.
Step by step
1. In data Model Under Data Schema Add a child and name it Read_More.
2. In the left hand corner ,click on tab Type and from the drop down select "rid"
3.Click on the "Browser" from the toolbar (as told earlier) and drag and drop it on the form.
4. Drag the Data schema which u have made(Read_more) and drop it on the browser on form. On right hand side u will se the mapping done.
5.Click on the "Browser" which is there in the form and on the right hand side of the form u will see the property window.
6.In property window change the value of action property to "Item Entry point"
7. Repeat step 3 and 4 in Render and show form but using "label" nad not browser.
Do not forget to add Save button in Edit Form.
This will solve your problem.

How to display system property in XML forms

Hi
We are using XML forms template for publishing news in KM. In the show form we got author field (a label in the form) which is mapped to system property createdby (PropertyReference = /Properties/default:createdby).But while displaying the form author is not getting populated. When I try to edit the form in XML forms builder in data model tab under properties node no property is visible. Nothing is shown up in properties even after reload option is selected from context menu of properties node.
I cheked by manually editing PropertyReference to some other property (e.g. modifiedby) but nothing is showing up.
Can you please suggest how the createdby system property can be shown in the xml form?

Hi Sudeep,
Please try to open the formbuilder in another machine and try to see the properties xml form design view.
You can even directly can create a lable in show form and add the property name along with the nama space name.
For default properties namspace is default.Create a lable UI element in show form and select the datasource property and add the property value in that.
With we can show file related system generated properties in show form.

Delete button in xml form

In the RenderListItem form, I did included two buttons :
- edit button to edit the news => work perfectly
- delete button to delete the news => the problem
When I click on the delete button, I receive the following message :
XML - Forms
Item /BvD-it SEPNews/Others/0056c04e-7c12-2a10-8185-c74e6f577c75.xml does not exist
but the file do exist.
When I click on the OK button (at the end of the message), the news is effectively deleted.
So this is functionnaly working, but it comes with a non relevant error message.

Hi ,
there are various ways of doing it..
You can try as the previous post says or also you can try When new block instance trigger and disable the item
using set_item_property , it all depends on when and how you want to diable that item.

XML FORM - How to save read-only controls with a default value

Hello everybody,
I have a 3 xml forms, each one to create one type of news. I need to use 3 because each of this forms has their own controls. But the control which indicates the type of news (asociated with a KM Predefined Property) must be common in the 3 forms, in order to use it on searches.
The question is, how can I include in this forms a control:
- Visible for the user
- With a default value defined in the control properties (each form has a different value, corresponding with the type of news)
- Read-only mode
- The value showed in the control must be saved in the associated KM Predefined Property when the user clicks the Save button.
Anyone knows how to do this?
What control can I use?
I was thinking of trying with text boxes, but I don't find the way to make them unwritable (Read only mode).
It is posible using labels?

The first thing I do when I open the Edit.xsl file is do a 'find' for the name of the text field that I want to be read-only (in my test case, it's 'location'). Repeat the find until you see something like:

I put the <xsl:attribute name="readonly"> in both places (when test, and when not test). I'm not entirely sure if that's necessary, but that worked for me.

Issue in Java Scipt in XML form

I have one issue in our client portal, which is really giving me hard time to resolve.
So I have come to you experts for helping me to resolve this issue.
So below are the details of the issue.
Actually it goes like that, we are using B.Texx in our Portal Environment and most of the work is done by the users in the portal, who has author rights. Please note that Authors have the right to Edit and save the content.
Most of the things are made on XML forms, with the help of Java Scripts.
Now there is one XML form(Add General Content), through which users add the general contents and there is one template provided to the user for that content. The XML forms are integrated here with the Tiny MCE editor.
Now, there is one link (Insert/edit link) in the Tiny MCE editor, when we write some text in the body and select the text, the link in the editor gets activated and when we click on the link, a pop up comes up, in which there is a browse button, through which we select the Navigation Element Link , which takes us in the navigation of the portal content(the way it is viewed by user in the portal according to the roles ), showing us different content and we select an content and press finished. Now the selected text becomes as a link in the body of xml form, then we fill up the title and there is one preview button. When we click on the preview button, the link is displayed to us.But when we click on that link nothing happens.
Please note that if we save that form, the links appears on portal and we are able to navigate through the link.
For this I have checked the js file(xmlformpreview_redirect.js) responsible.I am sharing the code of the js file below.

Render List not visible in XML Form Builder project

Hi,
I have created a xml form project, when I enter content in the show form and save it only "Edit and Delete" buttons are visible but the content is not visible. When I traverse to the path where the xml's are stored, I can view the content in xml format.
How can I resolve this.
